Bushido 8: Whitehouse vs. Vinicius Main Card Preview

Main Event

Welterweight Championship Bout

Scorchio "Enfield" Whitehouse (4-0-0, 2-0-0) vs. Marcus "Cold Storm" Vinicius (6-1-0, 1-0-0)

The Main Event of the Evening will see the first man to ever wear Bushido Championship gold, Scorchio Whitehouse, return as he aims to protect his belt from the number one contender, Marcus Vinicius. South London's Whitehouse made his debut back on Bushido 2, where he picked up a decision victory. He was given the chance to fight for the vacant belt against the then-undefeated Hans Schmidtt, and he was successful as he knocked the German out in only the second round. The Brazilian, Vinicius, entered the company having fought six times already with only one of those bouts ending in a loss, so he understandably had a number of eyes on him going into his first Bushido appearance. He would go on to defeat fellow NYBD ex-pat Darryl Fitzpatrick in the very first round of their headlining bout, earning him a shot at the title. The Champion is a Boxer, who will be looking to keep the fight on the feet where he can use his serious striking advantages to earn him the victory. "Enfield"'s lack of serious Wrestling or BJJ experience may cause some problems for him if he can't avoid the takedowns of his opponent. Unfortunately for the top dog, "Cold Storm" is a pure grappler, who has extensive abilities in both Wrestling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, boasting a brown belt in the latter. This is a classic battle between striker and grappler, so it will come down to whoever can better employ their gameplan and deal with the specialties of their opponent. The winner will either earn his first title defense, or his first title, who will it be?

Co-Main Event

Featured Middleweight Bout

John "Liska" Anderson (3-1-0, 1-1-0) vs. Larith Shun (5-2-0, Debut)

This evening's Co-Main Event will welcome the return of familiar face John Anderson as he aims to get back into the win column by getting past company newcomer and former NYBD title contender, Larith Shun. Anderson has had two appearances in the Bushido ring where he has went 1-1, submitting prospect Benson Whyte in a dominating fashion, as well as unfortunately losing to former title contender Carlton Landford in a very one-sided decision. His opponent this evening, Larith Shun has yet to make his company debut but has already had a number of fights in other organisations, with the majority ending in his favour, and has even previously fought for a Middleweight world title. "Liska" is a grappler with his specialty being Wrestling, which is evident when looking at his record as all of his wins have come from different methods of submissions. Similarly, his opponent Shun is also a grappler, but one of a different background as his primary discipline is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Neither man has any striking capabilities that we know of, so you can expect this bout to be one that takes place entirely on the mat. Wrestling vs. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Which is the superior Martial Art? A winner for either man could earn them a shot at the division Champion, Michael Amanatidis but first we will have to see how things play out.

Main Card

Featured Heavyweight Bout

Stanislav Arlovsky (2-0-0, Debut) vs. Joseph Parker (4-0-0, 1-0-0)

Two of the biggest men on the card will make an appearance in the second fight of the Main Card, as Finland's Stanislav Arlovsky takes on New Zealand native, Joseph Parker. Arlovsky caught the attention of Bushido executives after impressively picking up two submission victories on the Sydney regional scene, and offered him a chance to step up and prove that he has what it takes to defeat better competition. Parker's history is similar, although he has already made his company debut as Bushido 4: Whitehouse vs. Schmidtt would see him go the distance in a dominant display against the Polish Wrestler, Marcin Tybura. Arlovsky is a pure grappler with his primary discipline being Wrestling. He has also earned a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and reportedly possesses no striking or stand up abilities. Parker on the other hand is a very different fighter, with his background being Olympic Boxing. Along with his superb striking skills, the Kiwi has shown to have some defensive Wrestling and BJJ knowledge which will certainly come into play this evening.

Main Card

Featured Middleweight Bout

Tamati Kauri (1-0-0, 1-0-0) vs. Wayne "Perfection" Izen (4-1-0, 1-0-0)

The opening bout of the Main Card will welcome back the first grapplers of many this evening as New Zealander Tamati Kauri will step into the ring opposite America's Wayne Izen. Tamati made his company debut like others on this card, back on Bushido 4 where he would quickly takedown and submit his opponent in under three minutes, earning himself a submission of the night award as he did so. Unlike his opponent, Izen fought for the company long before Bushido 4, as he picked up a win on the company's flagship event - Bushido 1: Jones vs. Seung-Jin. Both men are grapplers, with each being Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners at heart - a brown belt to each man's name. While "Perfection" has the slight advantage in Muay Thai, his opponent has minuscule advantages in Wrestling and Boxing, and we are unsure how much of a part these factors will play. This fight will likely be a chess match on the floor, with both men looking to out maneuver their opponent, trapping them in a submission. Snooze-fest or entertaining battle of wits, only time will tell how this bout will unravel.

As you all know, Bushido 8: Whitehouse vs. Vinicius took place this morning, and it surpassed all of my expectations! The card opened with a majority draw and a unanimous decision, and continuing on with eight straight finishes - five of which being submissions. Along with the great fights, the fates of a handful of fighters changed rather dramatically. The first ever man to earn Bushido gold would see himself defeated, as Marcus Vinicius came back from way behind to submit the king of the division, Scorchio Whitehouse in the Main Event. Additionally, John Anderson impressed everyone as the blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu managed to control and submit a brown belt in Larith Shun, in a fight he was seen as an underdog in, earning himself a shot at the newly crowned Middleweight Champion. Also, Heavyweights Joseph Parker and Geoff Robinson are now set to meet each other for the vacant title, and Tamati Kauri has been offered a bout with the new Welterweight Champion, Vinicius.

A bunch of new, interesting story-lines for fans to follow!

Bushido 9: Road to Gold Round 3 / Oliveira vs. Westerberg

Main Card Preview

Main Event

Featherweight Championship Bout

Esteban Oliveira (5-0-0, 2-0-0) vs. Gunnar "Mountain" Westerberg (3-1-0, 3-0-0)

The Final fight of the evening will be for the Featherweight crown as the current reigning defending Champion, Esteban Oliveira aims to defend his belt for the very first time, against one of the division's toughest in Gunnar Westerberg. Oliveira remains undefeated since making his debut on the Brazilian regional scene only five fights ago, as he has continued to knockout every man that he has been matched with, including two under the company: Ito Nakamura and top contender Rostislav Kosaryov. Westerberg started his career off with a loss, although the fight was a serious mismatch, and he has since redeemed himself as he has picked up three straight wins in an impressive fashion, finishing Ivan Johnson and Richard Audette in the process. These two men are similar in fighting style, both being sprawl-n-brawl boxers with a tendency to avoid grappling exchange entirely, with Westerberg even steering away from dirty boxing. It would be a fair assessment to say that both of these men are equal when it comes to Boxing, with Oliveira only slightly edging ahead in Wrestling skills. Both men clearly posses one punch knockout power so many are eager to see if either will try to fight safe, or come out all guns blazing. What could be more interesting than watching two of the best Featherweight strikers in the company go at each other wearing only 4oz gloves, with the opportunity of earning or retaining Championship status on the line? Nothing, that's what.

Co-Main Event

Light-Heavyweight Bout

Bailey "Beast of Busan" Seung-Jin (3-0-0, 2-0-0) vs. Amir "The Man" Aini (1-0-0, Debut)

The Co-Main Event of the evening will welcome back a familiar face as one of Korea's brightest prospects Bailey Seung-Jin, steps into the Bushido ring for a third time against the company newcomer, Amir Aini. The heavy-handed "Beast of Busan" made his company debut on the flagship event as he fought in the headliner against Jon Jones where he dispatched of him in less than a minute, only being hit once during the fight. Since then, he has picked up a second win in which he finished Demestos Bleach in even quicker time, not missing a single one of his strikes. Amir Aini on the other hand is more of an enigma as he has yet to make his company debut, which unfortunately for him poses a great challenge. Seung-Jin is a Boxer with reportedly decent Wrestling skills, although he has yet to display any of the latter as he has only fought fellow strikers. Aini possesses potential problems for the Korean as he is a grappler, boasting a purple belt as well as some Wrestling skills. Bailey will aim to keep the fight standing where he can unload powerful bombs, and "The Man" will no doubt aim to direct the match to the mat, making two very different gameplans from two very different men. It is no surprise that Seung-Jin is penned to fight the winner of Kiatsongrit and Sam McCullen as he will have definitely earned it if he gets past the Malaysian this evening. Similarly, a win for Aini will set him up for big things as there will be a number of possible big fights available to him.

[undercard Bouts]

Samuel "Leggie" Bedree (2-1-0, Debut) vs. Joker Leto (1-2-0, 1-1-0)

Adam "KO" Silver (Debut, Debut) vs. Bruce Banner (0-1-0, 0-1-0)

Road to Gold

Round 3 Match

Jalaluddin "The Hashassin" Aziz (2-0-0, 2-0-0) vs. Boaty McBoatFace (2-0-0, 2-0-0)

This third round match is between two bright prospects as Afghanistan's Jalaluddin Aziz meets Londoner Boaty McBoatFace for a chance to progress to Road to Gold's semi-finals. In the opening round of the competition, "The Hashassin" was matched with Kuzuri Takahashi, a Boxer like himself - but instead of opting to stand and trade with the young Asian, Aziz quickly took the fight to the ground and submitted him. After winning his second tournament bout against Raymond Babbitt by means of a very fast Knockout, the Afghani progressed and is now faced with a whole new challenge. This challenge has a name - albeit an unusual one - as Boaty McBoatFace looks to cause an upset to the so-far successful run of his opponent. Like Aziz, Boaty has won his past two fights in the competition after going the distance in both of his bouts, one with the Russian Wrestler Vitali Volkov and another with the short notice stand-in, Rocky Usadastaireem. As previously mentioned, Jalaluddin is primarily a Boxer, but he has demonstrated that he has a diverse skill-set and is not afraid of grappling exchanges despite his lack of high-level Wrestling or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu experience. McBoatFace on the other hand has a much more specialised set of abilities as he has great Boxing as well as Wrestling, appearing to be equal in both disciplines. As we know, the winner of this bout will progress to the standard bracket semi-finals, and the loser will find themselves fallen into the Loser's Bracket.

Road to Gold

Round 3 Match

Robert Owens Jr. (2-0-0, 2-0-0) vs. Cagatay Ulusoy (2-0-0, 2-0-0)

The first of the two third round matches will be between two exciting youngsters as Scouse prizefighter Robert Owens Jr. faces off against one of Istanbul's finest prospects in Cagatay Ulusoy. Owens dominated in his opening round bout after cracking the once-thought-to-be Iron chin of Nate Richardson, finishing him in less than a round. Similarly, Ulusoy had his way with his opponent Yasuki Kono and the bout ended in the same way, with Ulusoy emerging victorious. The two had impressive performances in the second round too, as they came up against much harder opponents than in the previous, yet still emerged victorious. Owens specialty is his Wrestling, which when combined with his not so far behind Boxing, allows him to be a serious threat when closing the distance and employing a clinch-boxing strategy. Whether that will work against his opponent this evening is yet to be determined as the Turk is also a Wrestler, boasting greater skills than the Brit, who interestingly enough also prefers to fight close and dirty. Owens Jr. may look to keep the fight at a distance, away from the close exchanges as he may struggle when faced with a superior Wrestler, but only he and his coaches truly know what gameplan he will be looking to execute. I would imagine that Cagatay will look to repeat history and fight this fight how he did the ones before it. A win for either man will allow them to progress into the next round of the standard bracket, and a loss will launch them into the Loser's Bracket, with a chance at redemption.

[Road to Gold - Loser's Bracket Matches]

Isamu "Hachiman" Yamada (1-1-0, 1-1-0) vs. Kuzuri Takahashi (1-1-0, 1-1-0)

Greg "The One" Conor" (1-1-0, 1-1-0) vs. Vito Mancini (1-1-0, 1-1-0)

Vitali "The Silent Tsunami" Volkov (1-1-0, 1-1-0) vs. "Big" Jezza Kyle (1-1-0, 1-1-0)

As you may know, Bushido 9 took place this morning/evening in which the Road to Gold round 3 saw two fighters move forward in the standard bracket, four progressed in the loser's bracket, two fell into the loser's bracket, and four fighters were eliminated from the competition. Also, a new Champion was crowned as the Featherweight King, Esteban Oliveira's short reign ended, at the hand of Gunnar Westerberg.

The results are as follows:

The Road to Gold bracket is as follows:

http://i.imgur.com/hOlhS22.png

As you can see, Jalaluddin Aziz and Robert Owens Jr. have progressed to the semi-finals.

Isamu Yamada, Greg Conor, Jezza Kyle and Elijah Judah have progressed into round 3 of the Loser's bracket.

Cagatay Ulusoy and Boaty McBoatface have moved into the Loser's bracket.

Kuzuri Takahashi, Vito Mancini, Vitali Volkov and Raymond Babbitt have been eliminated.

As Cagatay Ulusoy and Boaty McBoatface have to wait for their next opponents to fight before they can, they will be given an extended break. This same thing will be happening to the finalist of the standard bracket too, as what is standard procedure for a Double Elimination bracket!

The awards are as follows:

Bushido 11: Warlords (Main Card Preview)
Main Event
Middleweight Bout
"Amerikas Most Wanted" Nick Gonzalez (1-0-0, Debut / 2-2 KT) vs. "KING" Marlo Stanfield (6-1-0, Debut)
The Main Event of the evening will welcome two new faces to the organisation as self-proclaimed "Amerikas Most Wanted" Nick Gonzalez, looks to get past Baltimore native and guest fighter, Marlo Stanfield. These two men have been at each other's throats for the lead up to this match, with neither man shying away from attacking the other over the popular social media website "Buzz" - and because of this, many people are eager to watch this fight! Gonzalez started his career in Kickboxing, where he fought at Welterweight and broke even with a record of 2-2. After dabbling in KT, "Amerikas Most Wanted" made his MMA debut where he put to bed another feud after submitting a rival in Conor Ruttenum. Stanfield began his career in MMA long before his opponent did, and saw much success fighting under HFL, where he racked up a streak of five consecutive KO/TKO victories. Soon after, Stanfield suffered his first career loss and he is no doubt hoping to bounce back from it in this bout. Gonzalez is primarily a Boxer that likes to strike from a distance, and has also demonstrated the ability to submit opponents if and when the fight moves to the ground. Compton's own will most likely look to keep this bout standing as his opponent possesses considerable advantages in the grappling department. Stanfield appears to be much more experienced than his opponent as he boasts exceptional Muay Thai skills as well as great Wrestling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu abilities, making him a rather dangerous and diverse fighter. A win for "Amerikas Most Wanted" would be the biggest of his career, as it would be over the most experienced and well-known fighter he has fought to date. Also, if "KING" were to leave the Bushido cage this evening with his hand raised, he will have silenced the big-mouthed Gonzalez.
Co-Main Event
Middleweight Championship Bout
Michael "Iron Mikey" Amanatidis (5-0-0, 2-0-0) vs. John "Liska" Anderson (4-1-0, 2-1-0)
The third and final title bout this evening will see the reigning Middleweight Champion Michael Amanatidis as he looks to make his first ever title defence, with a win over one of the division's toughest, in John Anderson. "Iron Mikey" won his company debut back on Bushido 3: Oliveira vs. Nakamura where he finished his opponent with an impressive knockout in the very first round. He then went on to win the vacant title after knocking out Carlton Landford with yet another vicious high kick. Anderson however has been more active since joining the company, earning two victories and a defeat so far, and has managed to pick up two Submission of the Night bonuses. The Champion, Amanatidis is a Muay Thai practitioner through and through, and may even be the single greatest kicker on the Bushido roster, so there will be no surprises as to what he aims to do this evening. In case anyone needs it spelled out for them, "Iron Mikey" must keep the fight standing, where he can put to use his serious striking advantages. Unfortunately for the Champion and his lack of grappling skills, "Liska" is a highly skilled Wrestler, with a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to make matters worse. Anderson will likely shoot takedowns without rest, a tactic he has ran with throughout his career.A classic match up between striker and grappler is what this fight is, and the man that better has the skills to deal with those of his opponent, will be the one that comes out victorious.
Featured Fight
Light-Heavyweight Championship Bout
Hwarang Kiatsongrit (5-0-0, Debut) vs. Sam McCullen (3-1-0, 2-0-0)
The second bout of the main card is also for a vacant title, as undefeated company newcomer Hwarang Kiatsongrit faces off against loud-mouthed Scotsman Sam McCullen for a chance to become the first Light-Heavyweight Champion in Bushido history. Hwarang made a name for himself on the regional scene where he knocked out all of his five opponents in the very first round, one in only 8 seconds / 2 punches. McCullen on the other hand joined the company at 1-1, having lost his MMA debut but has since recovered by earning a streak of three wins. Kiatsongrit is a Boxer who uses his very heavy hands coupled with expert precision to pick off opponents from range, and is never worried about their takedowns as he is also a strong Wrestler. Similarly, the Scotsman is also a Boxer, rumored to be even better at the martial art than his opponent this evening, which he will be hoping proves true as this fight will likely be his hardest to date. We can expect both of these men to keep the fight standing due to their backgrounds and previous fights, with neither looking to turn the battle into a grappling match. We among other pundits believe that this will be the fight to look out for this evening as two very heavy handed striking specialists going at each other for a possible five rounds could lead to a wonderful display. The man that wins this bout will have his name etched into the annals of Bushido history as they will be the first to have the Light-Heavyweight gold around their waist.
Featured Fight
Heavyweight Championship Bout
Joseph Parker (5-0-0, 2-0-0) vs. Geoff "Control" Robinson (1-0-0, 1-0-0)
The opening bout of the main card will be for Championship gold, as New Zealand's Joseph Parker meets London-Born Geoff Robinson for the opportunity to clutch the vacant Heavyweight belt. Parker has been on a tear since beginning his MMA journey, having racked up a streak of five wins, three of which being knockout finishes. Robinson is less experienced than his opponent this evening but has gathered a small following behind him already, having made his professional debut in an impressive fashion with the quick dispatching of his opponent. Parker is an Olympic Boxer who after seeing much success in that sport, has transitioned to MMA where he has so far replicated it. Robinson is also a Boxer, and although he has no Olympic credentials like his opponent, his skills on the feet seem to be as good if not better, than the Kiwi. With both men being striking specialists, we can expect this bout to take place primarily if not entirely on the feet, where fireworks will hopefully be on display. The winner of this bout will cement themselves as the first Heavyweight Champion, and the heaviest Champion among Bushido's top dogs. Once thought to be a weak division, the Heavyweight class is shaping up (no pun intended) to be a competitive one, with many young and hungry fighters gunning for the top spot.

AND STILL...

Anderson, you could've done better. Your performance was, quite frankly, disappointing. I thought you would put up a good fight, but you believing in your own strengths instead of focusing on your weaknesses, cost you the title. Don't even bother asking for a title match any time soon. You're miles away from me.

Kassim, I wish you good luck in our upcoming match and I hope you'll do way better than Anderson.

Bushido 12: Road to Gold Round 4 Main Card Preview

http://i.imgur.com/8RuASWt.png

Main Event

Welterweight Championship Bout

Marcus "Cold Storm" Vinicius II (7-1-0, 2-0-0) vs. Tamati "Python" Kauri (2-0-0, 2-0-0)

The Main Event of the evening will welcome back Bushido's Welterweight Champion Marcus Vinicius as he looks to make his very first title defence against the up-and-coming New Zealander, Tamati Kauri. "Cold Storm" made his company debut on Bushido 6, where he headlined against fellow ex NYBD-er, Darryl Fitzpatrick. His adversary entered the bout yet to be undefeated but Vinicius managed to finish him in just over a minute and a half. Since then, the Brazilian fought former Champion Scorchio Whitehouse for a chance to become the second man to hold the belt, and of course he was successful. Kauri has also fought twice for the organisation although this is his first time going after Championship gold. On his debut he fought Bruce Banner, where he would quickly take him down and work hard towards a submission which he eventually achieved - he did the same thing in his next fight against Wayne Izen. There is little to say about both the Champion and Challenger when it comes to their skills inside the ring as they are exactly the same type of fighter, with equal ability as far as we can tell. Both men are brown belts in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and each of them have respectable Wrestling to aid their grappling. Also, neither man has demonstrated any striking capabilities to date, so we know that the fight will NOT be left standing. Will the Champion make his first ever successful title defence? or we will see the belt switch hands yet again?

Co-Main Event

Road to Gold Standard Bracket

Jalaluddin "The Hashassin" Aziz (3-0-0, 3-0-0) vs. Robert Owens Jr. (3-0-0, 3-0-0)

The two men in the Co-Main event of the evening are the semi-finalists of the Road to Gold standard bracket, and are the only fighters to have avoided a defeat thus far. "The Hashassin" has had great appearances in the Bushido cage, and has shown a diverse set of abilities as he has both taken down and submitted an opponent, as well as knocked them out whilst standing and trading. Owens Jr. has also demonstrated his impressive skills as he has out-struck every man he has fought, finishing them all either in the clinch or striking from a distance. Aziz is a Boxer primarily, with not much Wrestling or BJJ experience behind him which is interesting as he has not shied away from grappling with opponents when he has felt the need to. Owens Jr. on the other hand comes from a Wrestling background, and we have heard that he won a number of local tournaments in his younger days, before transitioning to MMA. Along with his Wrestling, Owens has notable boxing prowess although not to the level of his opponent. This is looking to be a striking battle as the Afghani has the advantage there, and he will not be interested in taking down a more seasoned grappler - also the Brit has shown to only use his Wrestling as a clinch tool instead of for takedowns. The winner of this bout will progress into the tournaments final, where the inaugural Bushido Lightweight belt will be on the line. The defeated will find themselves in the Loser's bracket, where they will be given a final chance at redemption. It is important to note that due to the format of the Loser's bracket, the winner of this bout will be sidelined for quite some time.

Main Card

Featured Featherweight Bout

Mohammed Jafar (2-0-0, 2-0-0) vs. Roy Big Baby (2-0-0, 1-0-0)

The next fight of the night will see undefeated Saudi Arabian prospect Mohammed Jafar return to the ring as he takes on also unblemished Indonesian, Roy Big Baby - both hoping to keep their records clean this evening. Jafar impressed all on-lookers on his MMA debut in which he blitzed his opponent with a three kick combo, one to the body and two to the head, knocking him out in only 16 seconds - the fourth fastest finish in Bushido history. Big Baby also looked good on his company debut, as he managed to out-grapple and submit a fellow purple belt in Ivan Johnson, demonstrating just how good he is when it comes to the ground. The Saudi Arabian is a skilled Muay Thai practitioner, and has begun working on his Boxing / Wrestling skills although they don't come close to his specialty just yet. Jafar enjoys kicking his opponents, and if the fight goes to the clinch he seems to be comfortable, holding his own with accurate elbows and punches. The Indonesian is a pure grappler, and he boasts a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu along with his fantastic Wrestling - so it is no surprise what gameplan he will look to employ this evening. We have yet to see Jafar deal with a grappler, and his Takedown Defence is yet to be tested, so he has a big challenge ahead of him this evening. A win for either man will bring them ever closer to the top of the division, with a possible title shot looming in the distance.

Main Card

Road to Gold Loser's Bracket

"Big" Jezza Kyle (2-1-0, 2-1-0) vs. Elijah "Eazy E" Judah (2-1-0, 2-1-0)

The opening fight of the evening will see two of the remaining R2G participants battle it out for the chance to continue through the bracket and avoid elimination. "Big" Jezza Kyle suffered a loss on his debut to the now eliminated Greg Conor, which saw him enter the loser's bracket. However, since then Kyle has managed to win twice in a row demonstrating that he has the determination and heart to carry on despite setbacks. Similarly, "Eazy E" also suffered a defeat on his debut against fellow loser's bracket competitor Isamu Yamada, where he was submitted in the very first round. Again, like Kyle, the American has since impressed viewers with two consecutive knockout victories. Jezza is a Wrestler that likes to instigate the clinch, where he works and controls his opponents. Also, he has been working on the other parts of his game such as Boxing and Muay Thai since joining the competition. Judah however is a Boxer with decent grappling skills to aid him defensively, and he seems to attribute a lot of his ability to the fact that he has trained with his numerous siblings who all happen to be fighters too. One would suspect that Big Jezza will be looking to bring the fight in close where he can engage in a clinch, and that "Eazy E" will prefer to use his Boxing to strike from a distance. The winner of this bout will go on to fight Cagatay Ulusoy in the next round of the Loser's bracket, and the defeated will sadly face elimination.

Bushido 13 Main Card Preview

Main Event

Featured Lightweight Bout

Mo Felding (4-0-0, Debut) vs. Vellun Pitopalvelu "Oy Ab" (7-0-0, Debut)

The two men in the Main Event of the evening are newcomers to the organisation, but they are definitely deserving of their place on the card. Mo Felding comes into the organisation after having made a name for himself on the Helsinki regional scene, where he knocked out every person he was met with inside of the cage. Similarly, Vellun Pitopalvelu has had a great start to his career as he has won a 16-man regional tournament as well as becoming Champion in another organisation. The Norwegian is primarily a Boxer, who uses his reach to pick opponents off from a distance, often catching them off-guard with his deceptive power. A completely different fighter is his young adversary, as Finland's "Oy Ab" has specialised in Muay Thai and Wrestling and is a forced to be reckoned with when it comes to striking exchanges and clinch warfare. We can expect this fight to take place on the feet as neither man has shown any intention of bringing their matches to the mat in any previous bouts. When two hungry, undefeated, heavy-handed strikers come together inside the Bushido ring, you can expect nothing but fireworks. The winner of this bout will likely move one step closer to fighting the winner of the Road to Gold tournament, for the chance to become the second Lightweight to hold the belt.

Co-Main Event

Featherweight Championship Bout

Gunnar "Mountain" Westerberg (4-1-0, 4-0-0) vs. Sahbandar "The Director" Sunda (4-0-0, Debut)

The Co-Main Event of the evening is one to get excited about, as the #2 pound for pound fighter and 145lb king, Gunnar Westerberg looks to defend his belt for the very first time, against the #4 Featherweight and company newcomer, Sahbandar Sunda. Westerberg has proven time and time again that he is a dominant fighter, with great wins over tough opponents in Lei Zhang and former Champion Esteban Oliveira, and has earned the most wins in company history along with Lightweight Jalaluddin Aziz. Sunda has only fought for regional companies as of yet, but has impressed nonetheless with four straight first round submission victories. The Champion, Westerberg is a Boxer that likes to through a large volume of strikes, and has proven to be one of the best in the division at keeping his distance and coming out on top in striking exchanges. Unlike his opponent, the Sunda is a pure grappler, who uses his fantastic Wrestling skills to direct (no pun intended) the fight to floor, where he then makes use of his purple belt BJJ skills to catch opponents in submissions. Now we know that Westerberg has great takedown defence, from his fight with equally skilled grappler Ivan Johnson, but will he be able to keep away "The Director" from running the show? and similarly, will the Indonesian challenger have what it takes to dethrone the Champion so early on in his reign?

Main Card

Lightweight Bout

Mick "Lord Fisticuffs" O'Leary (5-0-0, Debut) vs. Joker Leto (2-2-0, 2-1-0)

The second fight of the main card, and the first of two lightweight bouts is between undefeated Irishman and unfamiliar face, Mick O'Leary and his opponent - the Halloween-came-early American, Joker Leto. "Lord Fisticuffs" has lived up to his nickname so far, having knocked out all of his five previous opponents, ALL in the very first round. Leto has had a different start to his career, first losing twice in a row by both submission and knockout - but has since redeemed himself with a revenge KO of billy bird and a second win that shortly followed. As his nickname suggests, O'Leary is a striker, who uses his fantastic Muay Thai skills coupled with respectable Wrestling abilities to drag opponents into the clinch, where he dismantles them with dirty boxing. Leto is a similar fighter to the Irishman, as he also comes from a Boxing background, and enjoys to strike from a distance as well as getting in dirty clinch exchanges. Like the other fights on the Main Card this evening, this bout will likely take place entirely on the feet, as neither man has shown the ability nor interest to grapple (outside of clinching) with their opponents. A win for either man will put them in a good position, and they could possibly see themselves fighting the winner of tonight's Main Event.

Main Card

Featherweight Bout

Esteban Oliveira (5-1-0, 2-1-0) vs. "Gangster" Rafael Rojas (2-1-0, 1-1-0)

The opening fight of the main card will welcome back former Featherweight Champion, Esteban Oliveira as he looks to get back into the win column with a victory over the similarly unlucky American, Rafael Rojas. Oliveira became the first Bushido Featherweight Champion on his second fight under the company, with the memorable Knockout of then-undefeated Rostislav Kosayrov. Unfortunately for the Brazilian, he did not hold his belt for long as he was defeated in his very next appearance by today's Main Eventer, Gunnar Westerberg. Rojas started his career off with two straight victories, before suffering his first professional setback - and like Oliveira - he will be hungry to get back to his winning ways. Esteban, like most of the other fighters on the main card is a Boxer, but what sets him apart from the others is his deadly accuracy when striking - this specific trait has been the cause of all of his Knockout victories. "Gangster" is also a Boxer, but unlike Oliveira who solely uses Wrestling as his defensive base, Rojas uses a mixture of low-level BJJ as well as Wrestling. Not that this matters though, as both of these men are going to box it out until one goes to sleep, or the fight goes the distance. Will the fallen Champion recover from losing his belt, or will he succumb to the hunger of Rafael Rojas who is also dying to win once more? Find out at Bushido 13: Felding vs. Pitopalvelu.

Mick, Mick, Mick, Mick, Mick... Mickyboy! Mick, you've had it easy so far... Not me though, I don't know the easy life, I was never that fortunate. I had to struggle Mickyboy, struggle I tell you. Oh Mick, Mick, Mick... I'm gonna teach you what struggling is. I'm gonna make you feel the pain you've been so carefully sheltered from your whole life. But Mick, trust me Mick, once that time is there, and you know of the hardships in my life... I'll promise you Mick, I'll be mercyfull, and end your suffering quickly.

Featherweight Champion

"Well guess what happened boys? I won, what a suprise right? I let Sunda take me down at the start as i made a bet before the fight that i could survive with him on the ground. I prove once more that i am the best fighter in Bushido, and i will continue to do so until everyone acknowledges my greatness. Being an ambitious man, one belt isn't enough for me. For that reason, i would like to challenge the welterweight champion Marcus Vinicius li to a fight if he has the balls to accept it."

Tony Bunker

Your days as champion are numbered with me around. I'm coming for that belt and I WILL take it from you if we fight. I wont be greedy just yet though, I know I'm not next in line but once I smash my next opponent I will be the #1 contender!

Does anyone else hear "Superfight"?

Gunnar Westerberg after successfully defending his Featherweight title this evening, has asked to fight the dominant Welterweight king, Marcus Vinicius II. So, Vinicius vs. Westerberg has been penned to take place on Bushido 16: -TBA- as of right now, its position on the card is yet to be determined. The event as a whole should be an amazing one, with numerous big fights.

In light of the superfight excitement, do not forget that next week on the 11th of August, the head-kick fanatic and reigning Bushido Middleweight Champion of the world, Micheal Amanatidis is set to defend his belt for the 2nd time as the Main Event of Bushido 14: Amanatidis vs. Magufuli. The Co-Main Event also has Championship gold on the line as newly crowned Heavyweight Joseph Parker looks to defend his belt for the very first time.

Thank you for the great event today, it was an exciting one - 9 Knockouts and a single decision! Bushido is steadily growing, and we appreciate your help.

A little info on the current kings of the Bushido divisions. Don't know about a particular Champion, or a few? Now you do. One belt is still without an owner, the Lightweight strap as it is reserved for the winner of the Road to Gold tournament.

http://i.imgur.com/LPgFvdI.png

Name: Gunnar Westerberg

Nickname: "Mountain"

Record: 5-1-0

Age: 26

Nationality: Swedish

Division: Featherweight

Defences: 1

Dethroned: Esteban Oliveira

Westerberg has had a phenomenal run in Bushido, and holds multiple records such as; tied most fights in the organisation (5), the most wins in the organisation (5), tied most title defences (1), and also holds the #1 spot in our rankings. His Bushido career started with a lightning-fast finish of division journeyman Ivan Johnson, before savagingly knocking out the now-cut Richard Audette. Westerberg would then meet Lei Zhang, a loud-mouthed youngster who was also on a 2-fight winstreak, but "Mountain" saw past the hype and dominated the fight. It was then that Westerberg had earned his shot at the undefeated Champion, Esteban Oliveira and the pair clashed as the Main Event of Bushido 9 / Road to Gold Round 3. The fight would be an instant classic, with both men giving it their all for five rounds, but the Challenger was out-striking the Champion by miles. The scores were announced: 46:50, 46:49, 46:49 and Gunnar "Mountain" Westerberg had become Bushido's second Featherweight Champion. He would make his return to the ring four weeks later, as he would take on the undefeated company newcomer Sahbandar Sunda. The fight turned out to be as one-sided as can be, with Sunda only managing to land a single takedown out of fourteen attempts, and not a single strike landed. After knocking out the Indonesian, the belt was once again wrapped around Westerberg's waist and he dedicated a heartwarming speech to his fans as usual. Now, the Swede has the toughest challenge in his career ahead of him as he is penned to fight the current Welterweight king, Marcus Vinicius II, as Main Event of Bushido 16: Champions Collide, for the chance to become a multiple-weight Champion.

Name: Marcus Vinicius Ii

Nickname: "Cold Storm"

Age: 26

Record: 8-1-0

Nationality: Brazilian

Division: Welterweight

Defences: 1

Dethroned: Scorchio Whitehouse

Although Vinicius has not been in the organisation as long as the aforementioned Gunnar Westerberg, he has also made a name for himself by setting some records of his own: the most submission victories in the organisation (3), tied most title defences (1), and he also holds the #2 spot in the P4P rankings. Vinicius was a title contender before joining Bushido, and was among the very best fighters in the NYBD roster so there were already a number of eyes on him as he made his company debut. The Brazilian was welcomed to Tokyo with the opportunity of being Main Event of Bushido 6, where he would meet fellow former NYBD fighter Darryl Fitzpatrick. The fight was not competitive as "Cold Storm" took it to the mat in a matter of seconds, and kept his opponent there until he could find and sink in a submission, winning the fight via Kimura. Vinicius was then given a much deserving a shot at the division's #1 of the time, Scorchio Whitehouse, who had just became the inaugural Welterweight Champion. The Challenger employed his usual gameplan of directing the fight to the mat, and turning it into a grappling contest but it did not go as easy as he had hoped. Whitehouse proved to have good takedown defence as he blocked 27 attempts, dishing out a battering upon each failed one. Vinicius however did not give in and even though he was badly rocked in the second round, he continued to fight for his submission - which he ended up getting in the third round. After becoming the Champion of his division, Vinicius was given another challenge in Tamati Kauri - a less experienced MMA fighter, but just as seasoned of a grappler as he is. The Champion would dispose of his opponent in the very first round, catching him in an Arm Triangle Choke only mere seconds away from the bell. Now, "Cold Storm" will have to defend his title from a serious competitor, the current reigning Featherweight Champion, Gunnar Westerberg when the two meet on Bushido 16: Champions Collide.

Name: Michael Amanatidis

Nickname: "Iron Mikey"

Age: 19

Record: 6-0-0

Nationality: Greek

Division: Middleweight

Defences: 1

Dethroned: None

Michael Amanatidis is one of the most popular fighters in our roster and there is questions why, as he continuously delivers with his unorthodox fighting style and subsequent knockout victories. Amanatidis made his company debut way back on Bushido 3, where he would rematch a former foe and knock him out once again - this time picking up KO of the Night bonus due to his fantastic headkick. Now 4-0, with a perfect finish rate of 100%, "Iron Mikey" was given the chance to fight for the inaugural Middleweight belt, against company regular Carlton Landford. The fight was unexciting for the most part, both men appearing tentative to strike with one another. That is until Amanatidis landed his beautiful signature headkick, to once again win finish his opponent and earn another bonus. With the golden strap now around his waist, the young Greek phenom thanked his fans worldwide for supporting him throughout his career. In the post-fight press conference, the newly crowned Champion noted that Landford was a difficult fight for him, but his hard training and unbreakable determination was enough to snag the belt. Four weeks later and he would be back in the ring, this time to fight Bushido veteran John Anderson. Michael dominated the challenger by stuffing all 28 of his less than sharp takedown attempts, before swarming him with a vicious combo that caused Anderson to tap out. The Champion would mention in the presser that he thought Anderson's performance was disappointing, and that a rematch between the two would not be happening any time soon. "Iron Mikey" is set to make his return next week as he headlines an event for the first time, at Bushido 14: Amanatidis vs. Magafuli.

Name: Sam McCullen

Nickname: None

Age: 19

Record: 4-1-0

Nationality: Scottish

Division: Light-Heavyweight

Defences: None

Dethroned: None

Never shy to speak his mind, Sam McCullen is a brash Scotsman that has garnered a following since joining the company due to his fantastic Knockout abilities coupled with his shit-talking. McCullen stepped into the ring for a very first time on Bushido 2: Road to Gold R1 against Zlatan Schevchenko as the opening bout. This fight would end with McCullen flooring his opponent twice, with less than ten punches in total - the first demonstration of his monster power. Four weeks later, the Scotsman would clash with the yet to debut Kevin Sanders, a pure Wrestler. McCullen was taken down instantly but after a referee stand up, he poured on the pain, knocking Sanders down four times within two rounds. In the post fight press conference, Sam would call out teammate and rival Bailey Seung-Jin to fight for the vacant title, but BSJ had a fight already lined up, and thus he was given another opponent. McCullen would then fight newcomer Hwarang Kiatsongrit for the vacant belt, on the stacked event Bushido 11: Warlords. Like the rest of these two men's fights, this one ended early - in the very first round. Both men were cut, pretty bad, and that was down to the bombs that both of them continued to land on one another. McCulled snatched the belt after knocking out Kiatsongrit, and was immediately penned to fight the aforementioned Seung-Jin as main event of Bushido 15. This heavy-handed Scotsman looks to have a bright future ahead of him being only nineteen years old, but he has the toughest test of his career coming up.

Name: Joseph Parker

Nickname: None

Age: 25

Record: 6-0-0

Nationality: New Zealander

Division: Heavyweight

Defences: None

Dethroned: None

Joseph Parker has had a quiet career, and unlike most of the other belt holders, he has not called out or insulted any other men on his way to the belt. The New Zealander made his company debut against the less than impressive Marcin Tybura on Bushido 4, and the pair had a brawl that went the distance, in which Parker came out on top. Up next, was the 2-0 pure grappler Stanislav Arlovski four weeks later. Unfortunately, the Finland native did not land a single strike, could not complete a takedown out of three attempts, and was quickly lit up and dispatched by Parker in just over a minute. In the octagon after his win, Joseph grabbed a hold of the microphone and called for a title shot, clearly still pumped full of adrenaline after his impressive victory. His wish was granted. He would face the popular although inexperienced Geoff Robinson on Bushido 11: Warlords, being the opening bout of the Main Card under two other title fights. This match was another short one, and Parker had never looked better. He used his Olympic Boxing experience to bob and weave, dodging almost all of his opponent's strikes, whilst firing back with bombs of his own. A brutal combo was the finishing move, which saw Parker become the first man to ever sit in the Heavyweight throne. He is scheduled to defend his belt against the undefeated Halfrid Joesma on Bushido 14, headlined by fellow Champion Michael Amanatidis.

Bushido 14: Amanatidis vs. Magufuli (Main Card Preview)

Main Event

Middleweight Championship Bout

Michael "Iron Mikey" Amanatidis (6-0-0, 3-0-0) vs. Kassim "The Albino" Magufuli (5-0-0, Debut)

The Main Event of the evening is set to be a banger, as the undefeated reigning defending Middleweight Champion, Michael Amanatidis looks to be the first man to earn a second title defence, as he faces off against company newcomer Kassim Magufuli. "Iron Mikey" has blown up in terms of popularity since making his company debut, as he has continued to knockout his opponents in fantastic and entertaining ways. Amanatidis has earned a finish in all of his previous bouts, and people have come to expect things to play out that way when he steps into the cage or ring. Magufuli made a name for himself beating up people in the American West Coast regional scene, and has yet to fight within a large international company. "The Albino" has earned 5 wins so far with the first three of them coming from the same man - Ronnie Scrollman who was admittedly a horrible fighter. When it comes down to fighting styles, Amanatidis is a Muay Thai specialist that mixes up unorthodox kicks and skillful techniques to overwhelm his opponents, and has shown very little grappling in his career thus far beyond defending takedowns. Similarly, Magafuli is also a Muay Thai practitioner but instead of being a kicking specialist, he employs a tactic in which he drags opponents into the clinch, and works them over with simple clean strikes to their head and body. This fight will be a game of distance, as the Champion will be looking to stay away from his opponent, and the Challenger will be looking to get close. Will we see yet another belt change hands, or will the young phenom "Iron Mikey" become the first man to earn two title defences - on his first ever Main Event no less? Tune in to Bushido 14, to find out.

Co-Main Event

Heavyweight Championship Bout

Joseph Parker (6-0-0, 3-0-0) vs. Halfrid Joesma (4-0-0, 1-0-0)

In the Co-Main Event of the evening we will see the return of one of Bushido's more conservative division heads as Heavyweight Champion Joseph Parker looks to defend his newly earned gold from the hands of Brazil's Halfrid Joesma. Parker has had a strong career thus far, having had six total fights - winning each and every one of them. His company debut was on Bushido 4, where he faced off against the now-retired journeyman Marcin Tybura in which Parker put on a great performance. Since then, he has knocked out two opponents, becoming the inaugural Heavyweight Champion in the process. Joesma has had an equally successful career, which began with a 3-fight stint in the Sydney regional scene before signing with our company. On his debut, the Brazilian would upset the odds with a submission victory over Cain Ruttenum - a performance that earned him a shot at the belt. The Champion is an Olympic Boxer who has since transitioned to Mixed Martial Arts, and developed a sturdy defensive Wrestling game to aid his already sharp striking. He tends to employ a tactic of striking hard from a distance, mixing up combos more often than not. Joesma is a very different fighter to his adversary, as he is a grappler through and through - boasting fantastic Wrestling skills, as well as strong submission abilities even though he is only a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The Champ will look to keep the fight standing as he has massive advantages over his opponent in that field, and he will have to do his best to avoid the takedowns that come his way. Obviously, Joesma is going to try and take the fight to the mat where he will look for the finish by means of either ground and pound or submission. The Brazilian's chin was tested early in his last fight, and he better hope that it can survive the heavy shots from his opponent.

Main Card

Featured Heavyweight Bout

Alexey "Karas"Karasev (4-1-0, Debut) vs. Antonio Magnetti (5-2-0, Debut)

The second bout on the Main Card welcomes two fresh faces to the organisation as they both look to earn victories on their introductory company appearance. The first is Russian Alexey Karasev who was a competitor on the Island Season 5, where he picked up four victories before succumbing to a submission loss in the end of season tournament's opening round. The second is Antonia Magnetti, hailing from Italy - a man that has had seven fights on the regional scene and has come out on top in five of them. "Karas" is your standard sprawl n' brawl boxer, meaning he likes to keep the bout standing and will use his defensive Wrestling to try and avoid the fight going to the mat. Magnetti could not be more different than his opponent this evening, as he is a grappler with very little experience in the striking arts. So, this is a classic match up between boxer and grappler, where one man will try with all his might to direct the fight to the floor, as the other does his best not to let that happen. It is definitely possible that the winner of this fight could earn a shot at the division Champion, as Karasev especially already has a following behind him, and is a popular fighter. Only time will tell though, as many tough Heavyweights are clashing tonight.

Main Card

Featured Light-Heavyweight Bout

Rick "The Viper" Orton (3-1-0, Debut) vs. Hwarang Kiatsongrit (5-1-0, 0-1-0)

The opening fight of the Main Card is one to look forward to as Rick Orton, friend and teammate of fellow Bushido fighter, Billy Bird looks to step into the company ring for the very first time. Opposite him will stand top 205er Hwarang Kiatsongrit as he looks to bounce back from the only loss he has on his record, where he failed to take the vacant title from the hands of Sam McCullen. "The Viper" has great Boxing skills, as well as a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He has also shown to have great knockout power as his career victories have come from early finishes, one in only 5 seconds and another in 16. Kiatsongrit is a sprawl n' brawler who has great experience in both Boxing and Wrestling and like his opponent, also boasts heavy hands. Both of these two competitors like to stand and trade with their foes, and neither has shown to be really fond of the clinch - which happens to be Orton's serious weakness, as displayed by his loss to Alex Maia. If Kiatsongrit employs a tactic of dragging the fight into close distance clinch exchanges, Orton could be in serious trouble, so it will be interesting to see how this plays out. Since earning his title shot before, the 205 division has grown deeper so Kiatsongrit may have to earn another victory before getting a shot at the Champion. Orton however, is a more popular fighter and we may just see him move on to face the belt-holder if he picks up the victory tonight.
