Bushido (290K+) Media Thread

*Deep in the heart of Tokyo, the media gathers fresh from the conclusion of Bushido 48: The Kings of 205. Bushido owner Rei Rei is seen on the stage, but a man arrives on the stage*

Grant Brophy steps onto the stage

GB: Good evening ladies and gentlemen. I understand you may not understand why I am here, but I feel this is the perfect time to make a hallmark announcement in Bushido history. Bushido is the premier organisation for 290k fighters in the world, and as such all fighters looking to prove they are the best should be arriving here. I have three such fighters currently under my management, all of whom have been called Champion. In fact, they are all current champions in the Amsterdam Fighting League organisation. Due to recent events in the org, I have decided to buy out their contracts with the org, meaning they are free to sign wherever they please.

I would like to announce the first of these fighters up to the stage now.

Zell Dincht

7-2-0

http://mmatycoon.com/images/belt/20170325123322belt2.jpg

Zell Dincht is a two time Middleweight champion with the Amsterdam Fighting League organisation, winning the title against King Phol back in October before successfully defending Jon Laston, King Phol again and Jack Brunson. He would lose the title to King Phol in their third encounter before winning the title against Iggy Steve when Phol left the org. Having defeated Steve and largely having no competition left in the org, Dincht left his contract and is pleased to announce he has signed a 4 fight contract with Bushido.

GB: I am delighted to have brought Dincht to Bushido and I expect great things from him as he develops as a fighter. I would like to now present the second fighter to the stage.

Seifer Almasy

6-1-0

http://mmatycoon.com/images/belt/20170325123322belt2.jpg

Seifer Almasy is the current AFL Heavyweight champion, and his path to the title was a story of redemption. He lost his debut fight in the org to Alexander Gruzdev, and a lot of doubts were made on his future following the loss. Victories over Raissa Fournier and Sergei Kharitonov would earn him a shot at the title, and a rematch with Gruzdev. Despite suffering some big shots in the first round, Almasy recovered in the second and landed some power shots that have come to define his fighting style and took the second round. He exploded in the third round, landing some big kicks, including a Spinning Back Kick which landed flush on Gruzdev’s abdomen before connecting clean with a head kick that Cro Cop would have been proud of that dropped Gruzdev. He allowed Gruzdev back to his feet before knocking him clean out with an uppercut to become the new Heavyweight champion. Wins over Frank Cash and Michael Conforti saw Almasy retain his title and with the division relatively cleaned out, Seifer is now looking for new challenges. Having already signed his contract earlier in the week due to his inactivity cause being used, he has already got his first fight in the organisation lined up against Elly Barnard at Bushido 50.

GB: I’m delighted to have signed Seifer to the organisation earlier in the week, and with his upcoming bout, he is training harder than ever to prove himself in his new home. Now, I would like to announce the final man to sign to Bushido tonight….

Irvine Kinneas

8-0-0

Irvine is an undefeated prospect in the MMA world, with an unblemished 8-0 professional record, with every win coming by way of (T)KO. Upon signing with AFL, under their old St Petersburg Fight Club name, he defeated Ilir Vrajoli in his debut match in the first round. Subsequent wins over Gobal Batra, Grister Charnstrom and Harold Nicolas would earn Kinneas a shot at the title, and another undefeated prospect in Shane Austin. Austin was coming into the bout on a 10 fight win streak, with Kinneas on a 5 fight win streak. Like Kinneas, Austin had won every fight via (T)KO, with the exception of one fight which was ruled a DQ due to his opponent testing positive for PED’s. Kinneas showed his maturity as a fighter on the night however, despite coming out of the first round slightly behind, he rallied in the second round and appeared to have just edged it. He had caused a cut on Austin, and Austin himself had opened a cut on Kinneas showing how close these two were in the cage. Kinneas managed to breakthrough in the third round however, opening up the cut more before knocking Austin down twice and rocking him. Despite being unable to secure the KO, he would eventually open the cut up to the point the referee was forced to stop the bout, but it was seen that Kinneas could have scored the KO while also being up on the scorecards. He would have a successful defence of his title by defeating Rob Pomper with a first round KO. He would sign off his AFL career with another TKO (Cut) victory over Shane Austin. With Kinneas feeling Austin was the best challenge in the division, and having defeated him twice, he now seeks other challenges and has arrived at Bushido to test himself against the very best. It has recently been announced that Kinneas will make his debut in the org on the 13th May against Ralph Gardner.

GB: There you have it ladies and gentlemen. All three of these men have signed to Bushido and you can expect to see them all in action soon, and to see them all wearing gold around their waists. I’ll hand you over to Bushido owner Rei Rei now and he’ll be taking a few questions.

http://mmatycoon.com/images/manager_avatars/1491682182reno.png

Report: Rei, you stand here having just signed 3 of Amsterdam Fighting League's current champions. In your mind, how does it reflect upon Bushido's stature in the MMA world that these fighters were willing to buy out their contracts in order to sign with your organisation?

Rei: You know, I've always considered Bushido to be the premier organisation for 290k+ fighters, and I feel like this just strengthens that thought. Since our conception we have striven to give home to the best and highest skilled fighters in the world, so naturally These men have been on my radar for quite some time - and I am happy to finally put pen to paper and get a deal done.

Reporter: Can you give us your thoughts of the three men you have just signed as individuals?

Rei: Irvine Kinneas comes into our organisation with an undefeated record and has won all of his fights via stoppage, this alone already puts him right up there in the title picture. I am excited to see how he matches up with the top dogs in the division and whether or not he can repeat his personal history by securing the belt.

With the reopening of our Middleweight division, we are looking to recruit the best 185ers in the world and I feel like Zell Dincht is the perfect man to get the weightclass rolling once more. Like you said, he's a former Champion and could very well become one again under our banner.

Last but not least, Seifer Almasy joins our Heavyweight division with already a string of incredible victories behind him. On Bushido 50 he is making his company debut against Elly Bernard, and we expect to see yet another great performance from the youngster. I feel that like his teammates, Almasy could quickly make a name for himself in one of our toughest divisions.

All three of these young stars have a bright future, and have already achieved so much despite their ages. I can't wait to announce fights for Irvine and Zell when the time comes, so keep your eyes peeled on that front. Thank you.

Ralph "Rage" Gardner (298336)

I've signed a multi fight deal and i can't wait to make my debut in Japan.

Much like my opponent Irvine Kinneas who left his previous org as a champ, i too left my last org as a champ.

This will be my toughest challenge to date so don't blink because this one will be a hard hitting affair.

Bushido 49: Superstardom

Main Card Preview

With two title fights and two huge Welterweight bouts on the main card, and an incredibly stacked undercard, this is possibly our biggest event yet!

http://mmatycoon.com/images/posters/1492331541b49.png

Main Event
Featured Featherweight Bout
Gil "Bipolar" Jacobson (10-0-0, Bushido Debut) vs. Tony Bunker (9-4-0, 9-4-0 Bushido)
Training out of fight capital of the world - Las Vegas - for the course of his remarkable trajectory, 22 year old Gil Jacobson will make his way to Tokyo Japan for the very first time, hungry to extend his streak of success. A world Champion before his twenty-first birthday, Jacobson has had a meteoric rise to the top in a career that has seen him not only win every fight he has been in, but every single round. Opposite him will stand one of Bushido's most experienced and well-adored Featherweights as former Champion and three-time contender Tony Bunker seeks redemption. This fight is between two of the Featherweight divisions best competitors, and it's result will no doubt be a deciding factor in the future title-picture.
Jacobson has shown no signs of slowing down at any point in his career and the emphatic winning streak he holds is indicative of such, as he has won 10 straight fights, finishing nine of them via KO or TKO. The secret to "Bipolar"'s success is in fact no secret at all, as the young American boasts an incredibly well-rounded skill-set -from his fantastic Boxing to his brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Whilst not the hardest hitter to step through the Bushido ropes, Jacobson is one of the most technical and accurate Boxers - having once landed 100 of an attempted 105 head strikes in one fight. The chances of Gil taking this fight to the mat are incredibly low, as he will no doubt look to piece his opponent up on the feet like he has done to the 10 men that opposed him in the past.
Capturing a Bushido world title is by no means an easy feat, and neither is earning five performance of the night bonuses in thirteen appearances, but Tony Bunker is a man that has managed to do both. Since beginning his career back on Bushido 10 where he would fight in the opening bout, Bunker rose to the top fast as he knocked out five men straight, earning him a shot at the Champion and a place as headliner - a fight in which he dominated. Since then, the Franklin native has had his fair share of ups and downs, and will no doubt be coming into this fight with nothing on his mind but redemption. Unlike his opponent this evening, Bunker fights in a very unorthodox and unpredictable style, as he seems to be comfortable in all areas of the game from close clinch exchanges to grappling on the mat. This is an interesting match up of styles and a bout that is sure to end the night with a bang.
http://mmatycoon.com/images/belt/20160419233025belto.png
Co-Main Event
Welterweight Championship Bout
Erick Darko (9-3-0, 8-2-0 Bushido) vs. "Crazy" Ira Wright (8-1-0, Bushido Debut)
Some say you are not truly a Champion until you defend the belt, and current Welterweight king Erick Darko hopes to make his first defence against company newcomer and training partner of the aforementioned Jacobson, Ira Wright. Since joining new management, Erick Darko has enjoyed a string of knockout victories, including one in which he dominated former Champion Amr Al As to snag the belt from his grasp. Ira Wright joins the promotion having already been a Champion in his previous one, and he is being given the opportunity to replicate history this evening.
Erick Darko began his career as a one dimensional grappler that would constantly search for submission openings even when they were not quite there. He has since evolved his game into not only becoming a a strong Wrestler, but has also developed great Boxing and overall striking capabilities. This diverse skill-set is what allowed Darko to defeat high level competition such as former Champions Jon Axe and Isaac Curtis as well as up-and-coming stars like Jose Carlos Luciano. I expect Darko to employ a varied gameplan this evening, mixing takedowns into the striking exchanges in order to exploit Ira Wright's weakest asset, his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. It will be no easy task however, and the Champion accepts that this will be his toughest fight to date.
Fighting for a belt and not holding one for the first time since he was 19 years old, Los Angeles born Ira Wright steps onto Japanese soil with one goal in mind - to dethrone the king. Much like his teammate Jacobson, Gil is known for his very diverse set of skills, boasting expert Boxing as well as sound defensive grappling abilities. Wright always looks to his his heavy and scarily accurate hands to inflict a ton of accumulative damage to his opponents before eventually shutting their lights off, something he may be able to achieve against Darko who has suffered three TKO losses in the past. Will we see the successful defending of the Mexican's belt, or will a new name be added to the annals of Bushido history? Tune in and find out.
Main Card
Featured Welterweight Bout
Benson "Golden Lion" Whyte (9-1-0, 9-1-0 Bushido) vs. Marcus "Cold Storm" Vinicius II (14-5-0, 9-4-0 Bushido)
Two former Champions collide in this well-anticipated bout as the once undisputed king of Middleweight, Benson Whyte looks to continue building a name for himself in his new division as he faces the one-time defending former Welterweight strap-holder, Marcus Vinicius II. Having only lost in his MMA debut ten fights ago, Whyte has steadily risen to the top and in the process become both a dangerous and well-rounded fighter. Vinicius on the other hand has had a much longer career than his 7-year junior opponent and has experienced his fair share of setbacks, all of which shaping him into a resilient and driven combatant.
Benson Whyte's roots lie in Boxing and because of such, he enjoys fighting at range as well as within the clinch. As of late, the young Jamaican has began mixing in kicks as well as knee strikes which shows that he has been developing a strong Muay Thai game. Whyte is considerably larger than his opponent this evening in terms of mass although he is slightly shorter, so it will be interesting to see how these factors aid either fighter in employing their gameplan. We know that because Vinicius is such a wizard on the mat, the "Golden Lion" will be looking to avoid taking the fight to the mat at all costs. It is important to note that although it was way back on the very first Bushido event, Benson Whyte's only career loss thus far has been by submission.
Brazilian grappling sensation Marcus Vinicius II once held the coveted Bushido Welterweight belt, and he is currently on the quest to retrieve it although he can not look past his opponent this evening. Vinicius is a submission specialist and has won the majority of his fights this way, having earned 9 career wins by way of submission as well as 4 performance of the night bonuses because of them. In all of his fights thus far, "Cold Storm" has continuously pushed for the takedown and once the fight moves to the mat, he begins to wear his opponent down with a constant chain of submission attempts. It is no secret what he aims to do in this fight, as he will need to suppress the striking of Benson Whyte and dictate where the fight takes place.
http://mmatycoon.com/images/belt/20160419233025belto.png
Main Card
Lightweight Championship Bout
Jalaluddin "The Hashassin" Aziz (9-1-0, 9-1-0 Bushido) vs. "Chocolate Ganache" Atte Savitaipale (8-1-0, 3-0-0 Bushido)
The first of two title fights this evening will welcome back two-time Lightweight Champion and Road to Gold winner Jalaluddin Aziz as he looks to earn a third career title defence, as he faces off against the always-dangerous Atte Savitaipale. Since making his MMA debut in the Road to Gold tournament which he eventually won, Aziz has made a name for himself with a number of stellar performances including five that have earned him bonuses. Savitaipale has looked almost equally impressive in his career thus far, having earned three straight victories since joining the company as well as a number of finishes in his previous organisation.
The Afghani sensation is known for both his expert Boxing as well as his dangerous submission game and they are the skills that have earned him the belt not once but twice in his career thus far. "The Hashassin" enjoys piecing his opponents apart on the feet with his accurate and heavy hands before shooting a takedown and continuing to break them on the ground. In his only loss so far, Aziz found himself rocked and finished late in a round that he was considered to be winning which has caused some critics to question the durability of his chin. However, the young Champion has since avenged that loss and captured the title once more.
The challenger this evening is Finland's Atte Savitaipale, an incredibly skilled Wrestler that has begun developing a striking game -although it remains the weakest aspect of his skill-set. "Chocolate Ganache" sets up his constant takedowns with strikes, although most of the shots he throws when standing do not hit their target. He will have to be careful about throwing lazy shots on the feet as Aziz will make him pay due to the vast difference in striking skill between the pair. It will be interesting to see how this pair match up as both have similar skill-sets and ways of fighting.
Thanks!

Bushido 49: Superstardom

Event Recap

http://mmatycoon.com/images/posters/1492331541b49.png

With a line-up as stacked as it had, Bushido 49 was sure to be success, and no surprise - it was! Not only was it our highest rated event with a rating of 290.52, but it also earned our highest ticket revenue yet, but beyond all, it allowed us to crack the global top 10 rankings, something I did not expect to achieve after not too long ago breaking into the top 20 for the first time.

In the Main Event, company newcomer Gil Jacobson and long-time veteran Tony Bunker fought to a draw in a bout that earned them Fight of the Night credits. A new Champion was crowned in the Co-Main Event as Ira Wright impressed in his first appearance, putting away Erick Darko in the second round. A Welterweight clash between Benson Whyte and Marcus Vinicius II saw the youngster demonstrate his takedown defence as he dealt with Vinicius' expert grappling. Also, our Lightweight Champion Jalaluddin Aziz earned a third total career title defence with a win over Atte Savitaipale.

Also, I've been considering changing Bushido's round format to better suit the Japanese MMA feel that we try to go for (with the ring for example). In Rizin, Pride, and other organisations you'll often see 10 minute rounds, and although MMAT doesn't allow for a 1st round 10 minute and 2nd round 5 minute format that I'd prefer, there are still other options available. Obviously this can be a polarising subject so it will not be implemented unless there is enough feedback, and if changes were made, they would begin at a time where no fights are currently booked, like in the future at Bushido 55 or something.

If you have an opinion, please share it, and if you have a fighter with us (or want to) then please vote on the poll below regarding round format

Cheers.

I've not had time for a preview this week sadly, but an event rundown and rankings update will be posted as usual. Appologies to those that would've been included in the preview.

Please vote on the poll I mentioned above about potential changes to our rule-times. No changes will be made unless there is enough feedback.

Bushido 50: Vilson vs. Paterson

Event Recap

http://mmatycoon.com/images/posters/1493082236b50.png

Bushido 50 comes to a close as an almost sold-out Saku Dome witnessed dominant Featherweight Champion Junior Vilson defend his title for a 3rd time, against former belt-holder Louis Paterson. The Co-Main Event saw former Heavyweight Champion AJ Wilder pick up a win in what would be his final fight on contract. This event is our highest attended to date, and had some fantastic fights take place.

Bushido 51: Jacobson vs. Bunker 2

Event Recap

http://mmatycoon.com/images/posters/1493512515b51.png

Bushido 51 took place this morning (or evening in Tokyo) and it was a record-breaking event as it earned our highest attendance to date - 7000, and our second highest event rating yet - 267. The Main Event was a high stakes rematch between two of the Featherweight division's best fighters in Gil Jacobson and Tony Bunker, which saw the latter earn the victory after a fifteen minute war worthy of Fight of the Night credits. The Co-Main Event saw newly crowned Light-Heavyweight king Krystian Soszynski successfully defend his strap as he made quick work of the talkative challenger He Mu. With great fights from top to bottom, it was a joy to read.

Main Event
Welterweight Championship Bout
"Crazy" Ira Wright (9-1-0, 1-0-0 Bushido) vs. Benson "Golden Lion" Whyte (10-1-0, 10-1-0 Bushido)

On May 13th, two of the world's brightest Welterweight prospects are set to face off in the Bushido ring with Championship gold on the line. In the red corner will stand the newly crowned king of the 170lb division Ira Wright, as he looks to secure his first title defence in our promotion (also his fifth career total). However, doing so will not be an easy task for the American as his opponent is none other than former Bushido Middleweight Champion Benson Whyte. Wright happens to be the taller but lighter fighter, and Benson the shorter and heavier - so we must wonder how these attributes will affect the outcome of the fight.
Seemingly born to be a Champion, Ira Wright has shown no signs of slowing down since blasting onto the MMA scene many moons ago, and has managed to consistently rise to the occasion whenever challenges appeared. One such instance was his Bushido debut where he would face the always-dangerous Mexican Erick Darko for the title - a fight which saw Ira Wright win decisively as he knocked Darko out in the second round. One thing that Wright knows better than anyone; when a Championship belt is wrapped around your waist, a target appears on your back - a target Benson Whyte is aiming for. To defeat the Challenger this evening young Wright will have to do what he always does, which is moving forward with unrelenting pressure using his both accurate and heavy hands. While both men seem to be matched in their skill-sets, Wright has stuck to a more one-dimensional gameplan of Boxing throughout his career until his last fight in which he showed off his kicking capabilities.
Also no stranger to the Champion life is the Challenger this evening, young Jamaican phenom Benson Whyte will be looking to capture his second Bushido belt when the pair collide this evening. Once the undisputed king of our newly re-opened Middleweight division, Whyte enjoyed a dominating run at the top which saw no contender come close to usurping his throne. Since losing on his career debut back on Bushido 1, the "Golden Lion" has managed to stay unblemished for the next 10 fights, which happens to be the longest active winning streak among our ranks. Whyte is a Boxer at heart and it is the reason why he enjoys to fight both at range as well as close clinch exchanges. He has also began to mix kicks and knee strikes into his gameplans and it has worked in his favor thus far. Neither man will be looking to take this fight to the ground, so the person that can mount the greatest stand up offense as well as defense will walk out of the arena with the Welterweight strap around their waist.
Co-Main Event
Light-Heavyweight Featured Bout
Bryan "The Moving Door" Mayhem (14-1-0, Bushido Debut) vs. William Booth (6-1-0, 6-1-0 Bushido)
http://mmatycoon.com/gallery/32/32w40.jpg http://mmatycoon.com/gallery/22/22w6.jpg
The Co-Main event this evening will be between two of Bushido's top Light-Heavyweights, as former DFC and AFC Champion Bryan Mayhem looks to make his company debut in style as he comes up against rising star William Booth. With a stunning record of 14 wins to 1 loss, Bryan Mayhem is one of the most successful fighters to step through the Bushido ropes, so he will no doubt hope to add to his record of knockout victories and get his name into title talks. William Booth is the younger and less experienced of the two, but what he lacks in exposure he makes up for with talent and skill. With Booth currently ranked at #4 in the division, this fight is an important one for both fighters to move closer to the Championship belt.
They say first impressions are the most important, and one can assume that Manchester's own Brian Mayhem aims to make his in emphatic fashion. With all fourteen of his career victories coming from finishes in rounds 1 or 2, Mayhem might well be one of the heaviest hitters we have welcomed to our company, something his opponent this evening is surely aware of. In all of his fights, "The Moving Door" uses his exceptional Wrestling skills to quickly secure takedowns before mauling his adversaries with relentless ground and pound. The only time that Mayhem had not seen success when employing this strategy is when he faced Asmund Sykk as he would find himself escaping from the mat often. The Manchester native is definitely the more skilled of the two this evening when it comes to grappling, and he may likely run with his usual gameplan.
A familiar face to fans of Bushido is Newcastle's own William Booth, who is making his eighth company appearance since making his debut back on Bushido 26. Unlike the aforementioned Mayhem, Booth is a blood and guts striker who is known to bite down on his mouthpiece and come out swinging. While this strategy has earned him wins against top contender Lee Date and former title contender Igor Rottwel, it has made him susceptible to getting damaged as seen in both his meetings with Date. Booth will need to prevent the takedowns from Mayhem if he hopes to survive in this fight, and if he manages to keep the fight on the feet he may just have what it takes to nab the victory.
Main Card
Featured Light-Heavyweight Bout
Irvine Kinneas (8-0-0, Bushido Debut) vs. Ralph "Rage" Gardner (7-1-1, Bushido Debut)
http://mmatycoon.com/gallery/0/14621932403138.jpg http://mmatycoon.com/gallery/0/14838567766829.jpg
Two more promising youngsters from the Light-Heavyweight division make their company debut tonight as undefeated Irvine Kinneas faces off against the streaking Ralph Gardner. After a successful career in DFC and AFL where he was a Champion in both organisations, Kinneas signed with Bushido along with his training partners Zell Dincht and Seifer Almasy. Since then all eyes have been on him with everyone eagerly anticipating his debut. Hoping to play upset this evening is Ralph Gardner, a tough and in-your-face brawler hailing from the west of London who has - like his opponent - been on a tear as of late.
Since entering the world of Mixed Martial Arts at the tender age of 18, Kinneas has yet to meet his match in any of the eight fights he has fought in so far, leaving him with an unblemished record. The root of Kinneas's success comes from his Muay Thai background, which has allowed him to develop a devastatingly well-rounded striking arsenal that most of his opponents can not handle let alone match. Along with his experience and technical abilities, Kinneas boasts an iron chin and heavy hands, possibly the most important ingredient in his success thus-far. To get closer to the title-shot in such a stacked division, Irvine may need to earn an impressive victory this evening - and he might just do that.
Opposite Kinneas will stand one of the division's youngest future stars in Ralph Gardner, who will be hoping to upset the odds as he steps through the ropes as the underdog this evening. An amazing striker in his own right, "Rage" has been streaking since losing back when he was just 18 years old, winning his following 6 fights with all but one victory coming via stoppage. Gardner is primarily a Boxer that has steadily developed a strong Muay Thai and grappling game - although he is reportedly still only a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. With stronger Boxing as well as Wrestling than his opponent, one can wonder if Ralph will try and use a clinch-heavy gameplan, although Kinneas's Muay Thai could present a problem there. Both men are going to want to stand and bang this evening, and I can't imagine a reality in which either fighter looks to take it to the mat.

Thanks for reading!

Main Event

Lightweight Championship Bout

Jalaluddin "The Hashassin" Aziz (10-1-0, 10-1-0 Bushido) vs. Clarence Van Gaal (8-2-0, Bushido Debut)

On May 20th, spectators worldwide will witness the return of one the sport of Mixed Martial Art's brightest rising stars, as Bushido's reigning defending Lightweight Champion Jalaluddin Aziz seeks to make history. From winning the first ever Road to Gold tournament to becoming the innaugural Lightweight Champion, Afghanistan-born Aziz has continued to impress, and a win this evening will have him tie the record for most total career title defences in our promotion - four. Looking to score the upset this evening as he steps through the red and white Bushido ropes for the very first time is former DFC title contender Clarence Van Gaal. The Dutch striking sensation Van Gaal has had a successful career thus far, picking up a number of notable wins in other promotions - but he will now aim to capture what has eluded him in the past, a Championship belt.

Fighting out of Las Vegas by way of Jalalabad, Afghanistan, "The Hashassin" has proven time and time again that he deserves his place in the top of the P4P rankings with his spectacular performances inside the cage and ring. Aziz first appeared as a contestant of the Road to Gold Lightweight tournament, where he would make light work of his opponents all up until the final round where he fought Elijah Juddah for the innaugural title. The Champion boasts one of the most diverse skill-sets seen in the Bushido ring, and he has been known to finish fights in a number of ways from hasty knockouts to slick submissions. With an air of unpredictability around him, Aziz is surely a difficult opponent to gameplan against.

Making his Bushido debut this evening is expert striker Clarence Van Gaal, who will no doubt be looking to show off his talents on one of the biggest stages in Tokyo. Van Gaal is currently enjoying the momentum of a four fight knockout streak, the longest of streak of his career thus far which will no doubt light a fire inside of him. The Dutch Kickboxer employs the same gameplan more often than not and its a simple one - to dismantle and destroy his opponents with his expert striking. Van Gaal mixes up punches and kicks from a distance with clinchwork and dirty-boxing exchanges to make him a danger from in all areas of the stand-up game. Expect this match to be fireworks, and with the edge in striking over his opponent, Van Gaal could just score an upset on his company debut.

Co-Main Event

Heavyweight Championship Bout

Andrey "King" Kuznetcov (9-0-0, 2-0-0 Bushido) vs. Ghazi "Burnt" Okah (7-3-0, 7-1-0 Bushido)

Two of the baddest man on the Bushido roster are set to clash in the Co-Main Event this evening as terrifying Heavyweight Champion Andrey Kuznetcov looks to secure his second title defence as he meets former Light-Heavyweight contender Ghazi Okah. Since capturing the title in a close fight with AJ Wilder, and then defending it against the same man - Kuznetcov has adopted the nickname "King", a testament to just how much he believes the top spot is rightfully his. Okah has blasted his way through the 205 division and has looked incredible whilst doing so, finishing most of the men he was matched with. When everyone else turned down the opportunity to dethrone the Russian King, Okah stepped up to the plate and now finds himself going for gold in a new weightclass.

One of the very best grapplers to grace the Bushido ranks is Andrey Kuznetcov, as the Russian is known for absolutely mauling his opponents on the mat. The Champion enjoys setting up his takedowns with heavy shots on the feet, and tends to constantly search for the takedown even if it takes some perseverance. Although the Russian prefers to take the fight to the floor, we have seen him dismantle opponents on the feet and in the clinch as well which makes him a dangerously well-rounded individual. To win this fight he may have to use his massive weight advantage to control the challenger, and will no doubt look to smother him on the mat.

Opposite him is the exciting Ghanaian prospect Ghazi Okah, who will aim for gold in what to him is new territory. Since joining the company back on Bushido 22, Okah has destroyed everyone he has faced in Light-Heavyweight with the sole exception of Krystian Soszynski, who went on to capture the 205 belt. This shows just how skilled Okah is for his age, and how far he is willing to go to become a Champion. Ghazi is another well-rounded fighter that enjoys mixing up his offense with a range of different striking techniques, and although he has yet to shoot or a takedown in his career thus far, he has proven to be a threat on the ground due to his slick submission attempts.

Will the King reign supreme, or will another youngster usurp his throne? Find out on Bushido 53: Aziz vs. Van Gaal

Featured Fight

Middleweight Championship Bout

"The Gypsy" Khalid Mamedov (5-3-0, Bushido Debut) vs. Zell Dincht (7-2-0, Bushido Debut)

The first of three title fights this evening is for the vacant Middleweight belt as Albanian newcomer Khalid Mamedov takes on former DFC and AFL 185lb Champion Zell Dincht. With both making their first company appearance, and the fight being for a title no less, both men must be looking to put on a possibly career-defining performance as all eyes will be firmly on them. Since dominant Champion Benson Whyte vacated the belt not too long ago, the division has opened up once more and tonight a new king shall be crowned.

In the red corner will stand "The Gypsy" Khalid Mamedov who is currently enjoying the success of a four fight win streak in which he will be looking to extend this evening. With Boxing being arguably his best asset, it is surprising at how often Mamedov shoots for takedowns although it has worked for him, as he has found success regardless of where the fight takes place. The Albanian has knocked out opponents on the feet, caught them in submissions and also worked them to decisions - so you never really know how a Khalid Mamedov fight will end. As he has the advantage in grappling over his opponent this evening we can assume that he will most definitely mix in takedowns behind his Boxing to dictate where the action takes place. Will the Albanian sensation capture his first career title, or will he succumb to the pressure of a new stage?

Quickly becoming a fan favourite despite not having made his company debut yet is former DFC and AFL Middleweight Champion Zell Dincht. No stranger to high-stakes fights, Dincht should handle the pressure with ease as he is set to fight his sixth total Championship bout this evening. An iron-chinned, heavy-handed Muay Thai specialist is the best way to sum up Zell Dincht, as the youngster has demonstrated time and time again his ability to both absorb damage as well as dish it out in devastating fashion. Never one to look for the takedown, Dincht will chop at his opponent's legs and jab their face until they crumble - a gameplan he may look to employ once again this evening. With gold on the line, and an opportunity of a lifetime in front of both these men, we can expect a battle of epic proportions.

Bushido 53: Aziz vs. Van Gaal

Event Recap

http://mmatycoon.com/images/posters/1494873351bushido53.png

Bushido 53: Aziz vs. Van Gaal took place this evening in Tokyo, and there was a phrase that echoed through the almost sold-out Saku Dome a number of times, "And New". In the first of three title fights, Khalid Mamedov secured the vacant Middleweight strap to the beat of "tap tap tap", with a 1st round submission victory over fellow company newcomer Zell Dincht. In the Co-Main Event, the Heavyweight King Andrey Kuznetcov had his crown taken from him as Ghazi Okah caught him in a late submission. Finally, the night concluded with company newcomer Clarence Van Gaal defeating dominant Champion Jalaluddin Aziz, becoming the third man to ever hold the Bushido 155lb strap.
