Mayhem 8 Klein vs. Lahey Review

http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/posters/1472165516mayhem8.jpg

By Jay Lawrence

Mayhem 8 crowned a new heavyweight champion, chose our next contender for the featherweight championship, and brought 1741 fans into the Hayashi arena in Vegas. This event was our 4th best in terms of attendance and our 7th best in terms of rating. It was a great show relative to the shows offered by other 290k orgs, but it was only an average show in relation to other DFC shows.

Main Event Heavyweight Title match - Boris Klein vs. Jim Lahey

The first round was mostly in and out of the clinch. Klein took it to the clinch, but Lahey controlled the clinch. Lahey was able to open a cut on Klein within the first minute and the cut really seemed to bother Klein through the rest of the fight as his aggressiveness appeared to fade quickly. Klein was sort of all over the place in the first round, taking the fight to the ground, but then standing up and clinching Lahey again. Lahey appeared to go with it and just punish Klein with a large arsenal of differentr strikes. This was definitely Lahey's round.

The second round involved quiet a bit of back and forth especially from the clinch. Both fighters were throwing knee strikes and giving it everything they had. They both appeared to be losing energy already though and toward the middle of the round Lahey also got cut open. Despite the cut, Lahey stayed in the fight and seemed to be going for a knockout with every strike, but just couldn't land a square hit. Lahey cleared dominated this round.

Round three was Klein's first good round. This was again mostly fought up close in the clinch. Klein had no problems controlled Lahey and Lahey seemed to be lost through most of the round. The critics say Lahey "took this round off" as he seemed to be more of the defensive fighter here, perhaps the cut was really bothering him. Klein got the nod on the judge cards for this round.

Round four finally got some striking from a distance. I don't know what Lahey's cornerman said to him, but Lahey came out hard and fast. Lahey got a nice leg kick on Boris which would've broken a weaker man and Lahey kept it going. Klein seemed really tired in this round, perhaps Lahey allowed Boris to drain himself in the last round, I am not sure. However, Lahey looked poised and determined to win this fight in round 4. He couldn't quite get the KO, but everyone in the arena thought it was going to happen soon.

Round five was one of the most exciting rounds. Klein was back in the fight and Lahey wanted a finish. Klein rushed from his corner with a nice punch combo that really showed off his boxing skills. Lahey responded with some kicks that kept Klein at a distance, until Klein was able to bring the fight back to the clinch. They both went back and forth with punches and knees while in the clinch and they took the fight all the way to the 25-minute mark. The bell rang and both fighters fell the the mat gasping for air. These two heavyweights really put on a good show for the fans. For that reason they earned Fight of The Night Award. As for the title, Lahey was the clear victor and the new DFC Heavyweight Champion. Lahey will be defending his title vs. the winner of Shreve vs. The Axe on 9-9-16 at Mayhem 9.

Co-Main Event - Arrin Mccreth vs. James Myres ***UNDERDOG VICTORY***
This fight went all 3 rounds and was left to the judges who had an easy decision in claiming Mccreth as the winner. It wasn't that Myres didn't fight well, actually Myres dominated the stand up from a distance, but Mccreth desperately kept the fight in the clinch for good reason. It was in the clinch that Mccreth really dominated this fight and Myres couldn't do anything in the clinch.

Granat Xhaka vs. Asdrubal Corachan
Xhaka continued his win streak and finished this fight at the 2:58 mark of the first round. Corachan couldn't land a single strike and Xhaka left untouched. Xhaka was heard saying, "I've had better sparring sessions then this fight tonight" as he was leaving. For being so dominate and finishing the fight early, Xhaka will be getting a title shot opportunity vs. Tomas Lindberg on 9-17-16 at Sin City 9.

Robbie Billie vs. Petie Mcpot

This fight went the full 15 minutes with Billie showing he is the better fighter on all platforms. Mcpot put up a decent struggle, but Mcpot just didn't seem to want to be in the fight. At the conclusion of the fight Mcpot was handed the mic and said to the crowd, "Fuck the fans, fuck the people, fuck DFC, and FUCK MMA!" It appears the stress of competitive fighting has made Mcpot buckle, or perhaps it was all the knees to his head from Billie. Either way, Billie is looking like a great young fighter with a lot of potential and Mcpot is no longer employed by DFC.

Jackie Lee vs. Gabriel De Angelico

I know sometimes fighters will take a pain reliever or Ibuprofen before a fight just to settle the nerves and relieve some of the imminent pain. I think De Angelico confused his Tylenol with a Percocet because he seemed to be a little loopy. Angelico is typically an on-point fighter with great takedowns and ground fighting abilities, but in 3 minutes of fighting Angelico only tried 3 takedowns and managed to get 1 punch in on Jackie. Jackie on the other hand was near perfect. Jackie landed 15/17 punches and 11/12 kicks. Jackie finished the fight in good fashion by knocking Angelico to the ground, pouncing on top of him and finishing him from mount until the ref could jump in. Jackie was only contracted to a 1 fight deal with DFC, but the scouts are trying desperately to get this show maker back in DFC.

Soloman Palmer vs. Connor Mcdavid

I tried to make a great analogy for this fight, but I really couldn't come up with anything. Connor appeared content to just block and dodge the entire fight with Palmer chasing him. Palmer couldn't land much, but since he was the only one attempting anything you can't blame the judges for raising his hand. I would say Palmer conducted some nice ground and pound especially in the third round, but defensive Mcdavid has a chin of steel and absorbed everything Palmer could bring.

Renato Sanches vs. Sausage McMuffin ***UNDERDOG VICTORY***

The two touched gloves, the bell rang, and Sanches immediately kicked McMuffin in the head with everything he had. The kick put McMuffin right to the mat, possibly fractured his jaw and McMuffin struggled to get up. Sanches kicked McMuffin on the inside of the leg as McMuffin tried to stand and Sanches went for the combo with a kick to McMuffin's head. McMuffin blocked the kick but Sanches followed up with an uppercut that McMuffin looked right into. McMuffin was instantly out cold and this fight was over in 11 seconds. Sanches looked great here and although Sanches was the underdog, he definitely didn't look like it! For his performance, Sanches earned the KO of the Night award.

Rolo Hardware vs. Victor Lutko

This was clearly a one sided fight with Hardware dominate in every aspect. Hardware was able to get an Americana in the 25th second of round 2. Hardware would've won the submission of the night award, however both fighters were fired from DFC after both of their Urinary Analysis reports came back positive for anabolic steroids and cocaine. Third party sources say Lutko and Hardware were partying together on Fremont Street the night before the fight. Having a fighting organization in Vegas does have its risks...

Basil Super vs. Marty Delgado

This fight was almost comical. Delgado really wanted to clinch with Super, but didn't do anything from the clinch. From a spectator's standpoint this fight looked like Super wanted to take Delgado's head off with punches and Delgado just wanted to hug him. The tweets after the fight are always additionally comical, but this one especially caught my attention- @Delgado Delgado would rather fuck the fight, he belongs in gay porn not MMA.

Christoph Griffinsky vs. Shane Robinson

You could tell Robinson did not want to fight against Griffinsky from the stand up, but Griffinsky's takedown defense was too good for Robinson. Griffinsky finished this one in just 39 seconds and he looks to be a great addition to DFC.

Another entertaining event at DFC for the fans of MMA and the managers of MMATycoon. Bringing at least two events every week, DFC promises to be a manager-first oriented organization.

Sin City 7 Lobtov vs. Toole Review

http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/posters/1471628314SIN%20CITY%207%20FINAL.gif

By Jay Lawrence

Sin City 7 was the best fight to date for DFC - Las Vegas. With a rating of 150.90, this event put DFC from 42nd to 36th in best hyped fighting org. We also had a change of title in the light heavyweight division. DFC is really starting to develop some champion grade fighters and this is the first event of many of its kind. With thanks to some of the best managers in the game and the newest fighters in the game, DFC is rising to the top of the 290k+ fighting orgs. DFC is stocked with over 300 of the finest talents at 290k+. Only the best have the cajones to fight in DFC and if you want to be a big fish in a small pond, go somewhere else. If you want to become a real champion, put your money.....I mean put your mouth where the money is...join DFC!

Main Event - Andrey Lobtov vs. Ottis Toole IV ***UNDERDOG VICTORY***
I love when an underdog wins. But when it is in a main event and the fight only lasts 30 seconds it creates an emotional rollercoaster that Disneyland can't compete with. Ottis Toole was clearly the better standup fighter, but Lobtov had the skill and ability to take this to the mat FAST. Lobtov got caught up in the clinch, but that didn't stop him from pulling guard and grabbing a triangle choke. Toole tapped out quickly and some of his once fans started chanting "Toole is a TOOL" afterward. I'm not sure what that means, but I guess I'm just not up to date on the millenial lingo. Despite Lobtov getting a great submission win here, he only had a 1 fight contract with DFC for this super fight and he will be moving on to challenge for a title at Bushido. Hopefully Lobtov will find his way back to DFC in the near future! He would've earned the submission of the night award, but is not eligible due to his lack of current contract with DFC.

Co-Main Event - Light Heavyweight title championship - Martin Skvardsonn vs. Steve Jackson

These two undefeated beasts hit it hard and hit it fast, kinda like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vf_PcnSdNeM. Martin came out with a couple punch combinations that set the pace for the fight and cut Steve Jackson immediately. That didn't stop Steve though as he responded by taking the fight into a clinch and removing Martin's ability to hit from a distance. Jackson came in with the knees and elbows opening up a cut on Martin that soiled the mat in crimson splatters. It took 1 minute and 19 seconds of rapid fire knees and elbows until Martin finally collapsed. For coming back from a decimating punch combination, for spreading blood across the mat and the first few rows of the stands, and for doing it while battling for the title, these two fighters earned the fight of the night award.

Maurice Smith vs. Johny Vargas
Vargas really wanted to keep this fight on the ground, and he was able to get a takedown early on. Unfortunately for Vargas he was not aggressive enough in the ground game and the fight was stood up by the referee shortly after. A loud outcry of Vargas fans and Vargas' cornerman booed the referee, but that didn't change the result - the ref stood the fight up and it never went back to the ground. At least not until Smith cracked Vargas with a sweet leg kick that knocked Vargas off balance and gave Smith the opportunity to explode with a BRUTAL head kick. Vargas was out and he might need surgery after that one. A beautiful head kick by Smith likely put him into the #1 contention spot for the title. It definitely earned him the KO of the night award.

Johnny Jacobi vs. Juan Garcia Vega ***UNDERDOG VICTORY***

Critics stated this would be an easy fight for Vega. Perhaps Vega believed them because that was not at all the case. Vega clinched with Jacobi and threw him against the cage in an act of sheer dominance. Jacobi played the part and used Vega's momentum against him; Jacobi turned his hips and with a NICE judo throw he took Vega to the mat and gained side control. Vega desperately tried to avoid the submission but Jacobi was like a boa on a rabbit - ruthless, dominant, and precise. Vega's frantic frenzy had no chance as Jacobi took a far side arm and closed an Americana. In Vega's defense he held out until the near snapping point before he tapped the mat. Vega will be going straight to the X-rays after that, but Jacobi cemented his path to the title shot here. Jacobi also earned the Submission of the night award after his Americana was played time and time again on Tycoon News. After the fight Vega had this to say, "Well today I'm not happy, you know I made a lot of mistakes and underestimated Jacobi. But you know this sport of MMA is all about the best fighter in the ring at that moment. I know I was the better fighter but I got careless and the result is a loss. Thank you fans for coming out."

Clinton Smaxsons vs. John Horse
Smaxsons is the superior boxer by far and John Horse is criticized for being too balanced. The critics were right in this case as Smaxsons destroyed John in every part of this fight. It took 9 punches and a punch combination for Smaxsons to drop Horse and score the win. Maybe if Horse could've been able to take Smaxsons to the mat it would've been different, but this was Smaxson's fight to lose and Smaxson's clear victory.

Joaquim Branco vs. Max Power

I think Gabe Gardner is getting a little better with his predictions as we actually had two predictions in a row here. This fight was one of only two fights that went the distance and didn't get a finish. Max Power showed up as an undefeated fighter, but he did not have many answers for Branco's standup ability. The first two rounds Branco shredded Power top to bottom. The third round was all Power though as he took it to the mat and nearly got a submission on several occassions. Perhaps if this fight had another round or so Power could've found a way to force the tapout. In this case however, Branco was the clear victor winning 29:26 on all 3 judge's cards.

Benjamin Tay vs. Jay Codina
Another perfect prediction by Gabe! Benjamin Tay made quick work of Codina. Codina thought he was doing well taking Tay down, but Tay moved directly to half guard and found a quick armbar. It only lasted 32 seconds before Codina was tapping to avoid a broken arm.

Happy Gilmore vs. Jaden King

What did we just watch there? To the amateur this looked like a couple kids wrestling around in a cage. To the trained eye, this was a battle of two brazilian jiu jitsu experts fighting over technique and positional advantage. A total of 25 sub attempts and any one of them would've caused a lesser man to tap, but these two fighters found ways to counter and attack in a vicious, and deadly, game of chess. The result was leaving it to the judges and the last round both fighter really went after it. Gilmore took the match on all three judge cards, but the final round had every judge excited as each scored the final round 10:10.

Ragnar Diaz vs. Robb Stark

Who knew Diaz was such a BEAST! Stark was throwing some haymakers going for a KO with every punch and Diaz found his openings whenever possible. A rocked Stark found himself swinging wildly and Diaz took the opportunity to grab ahold of Stark, and lift him up in what resembled a WWF Piledriver. The force of the slam put Stark out cold and he might have to get his neck checked after that one. Great fight! I am looking forward to more like this from Diaz! After that fight Diaz stole several fans from WWF and his posters sold out at nearly every Walmart across the US. Tweens across the US are said to be posting his poster in their bedrooms - http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/0/14719813488856.jpg To me, he looks like a sex offender. I mean, that haircut, WTF, right? But I guess some people like Justin Bieber too, and that's why I never understood Psychology.

Rocky Sparbot vs. Fred Black

This fight was only 40 seconds long, but it was the perfect way to start another epic Sin City event in Vegas. Sparbot knocked Black down with a punch, taunted him back to his feat and dropped him again. Black was so lost he started going after the ref! For a moment I thought the ref was going to give Black his second KO in less than a minute, but the ref was skilled enough to restrain him back to conciousness. Unfortunately for Sparbot he tried his hand at hyping himself and he came off like a douche. Try just thanking the fans next time Sparbot!

This was truly an awesome event. I was excited booking the fights, watching the fights, and writing about the fights. I hope more events go off like this one and I think Sin City 7 really captured what DFC is and will be.

DFC: Mayhem 9 – Shreve vs. The Axe (09 September 2016 – Hayashi’s Lounge, Las Vegas) Preview and Predictions (868036)

Sponsored by “King Of Fists” fight wear, official clothing of DFC – Las Vegas
Bet on this card using “Sin City Bookies”, your instincts could be worth money!

It is a main event like no other we have had here in DFC, two red hot heavyweight monsters will be set to clash in a bid to determine the number one contender for the DFC heavyweight championship, and in what is division filled with killers – this fight is guaranteed to be brutal. As if that wasn’t enough, the Bantamweight title is going to be defended as Liam Fitzpatrick faces off against Vayle Belval!

Fight 1
Artur The Axe 7-2-0 vs Larry “The Butcher” Shreve Jr 6-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 265lbs

Oh my, oh my, oh my! If there was a more anticipated heavyweight fight in DFC, I haven’t heard of it. When a fighter comes in having won his last three fights, with a total of four first round finishes to his name, with his debut fight ending in just 5 seconds and is the underdog, you know a fight will be exciting! Artur the Axe walked through tough competition to get here, but you wouldn’t have known it as he has one every fight in DFC so far in under one round, a trend he is hoping to keep.

Shreve Jr on the other hand will not make that easy at all, not one little bit! A monster who walks around at 289lbs, “The Butcher” is one of the most promising MT kickboxers at such a young age that I have ever seen, which The Axe will want to be mindful of considering he also fights predominantly in that style. I’d say his boxing ability was slightly better but he would also be outwrestled by the Atlanta, Georgia native.

Although Artur has been nothing short of phenomenal so far, I can’t see how he is going to beat Shreve Jr AT ALL. In fact, I don’t know Jim Lahey, the current champ could stop him….settle down folks, Shreve Jr could have a long stay at the top of the division starting with a first round KO of Artur the Axe.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Larry Shreve Jr Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Fight 2
Two Chugga Chugga 4-0-0 vs Ian Domman 4-2-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 205lbs

Two Chugga Chugga, a very popular fighter I am led to believe, is making his DFC debut here against a submission specialist and Jiu Jitsu brown belt Ian Domman – This should be a very good contest, almost guaranteed that it won’t get further than 2 rounds, as both fighters have won all their fights via stoppage (4 KOs for Chugga Chugga and 4 Subs for Domman).

Chugga Chugga (who henceforth with be referred to as TCC for convenience) is one another practitioner of what is increasingly becoming the more popular style of striking, Muay Thai kickboxing, and is proficient and deadly as far as that is concerned, with a well-rounded ground game to boot.

Domman will have to rely heavy off of luring in TCC into vulnerable positions and force him into a mistake, capitalising on it to submit him – but other than that, if he tries to trade with him he will get put down very very quickly, and that is what I see happening. TCC to win via KO early on.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Two Chugga Chugga, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Fight 3
Jason “Blood” Fumire 6-2-0 v Dean Lockwood 1-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 170lbs

Another great fight to look forward to on paper, as two great welterweight fighters meet head to head w/ a DFC debut for Fumire tonight. I want to make this clear, that I consider Fumire the favourite. He has three wins inside of a minute, with all six wins occurring inside round 1. He is a clinical, clear cut BJJ badass – However, we can learn just as much from our defeats as can we our victories.

Fumire has been KO’d twice, against strikers that I don’t think are as lethal as Lockwood – which spells trouble for the man from Fort Knox. I think if Lockwood catches Fumire clean, then he shuts him down.

Don’t get me wrong, I wish all fighters well and respect their abilities in DFC, but I think that Fumire’s welcoming party might be one to forget.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Dean Lockwood, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Fight 4
Gerry Zero 4-0-0 v Rauga “Lightning” Pascal 3-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 185lbs

I thought about this fight long and hard, and not just because it is in my favourite weight division. The reason why this puzzled me is how I just could not picture the finish in my mind, until it clicked – who has the best defence to their opponent’s best offence? In my mind, it is Rauga “Lightning” Pascal.

Pascal – a very talented striker and BJJ artist has a good all round game, whereas Zero is relying on his ability on the ground. Although I think a grappling contest would only end in Zero’s favour, I don’t think he will find it as easy as he has done in the past and will eat a nasty series of shots for a KO finish.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Rauga Pascal, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Fight 5
Luke “Darling” Bresnan 2-1-0 v Alexander “The Panzer” Pauwels 2-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 205lbs

Another very appetising light heavyweight fight here, as Luke Bresnan, fresh off of his title fight defeat against now former champion Skvardsson needs to kickstart his charge up the rankings again or he could find himself becoming lost in the shuffle here. Both fighters appear to favour their chances on the floor, despite having very substantial striking ability – all the hallmarks of a good fighter. Bresnan finished his first two fights with a Kimura, while Pauwels scored two brutal KO victories in his, showing power a plenty on the ground and standing up.

This is a coin toss of a fight to predict considering we have very little in terms of fight records to go on, but I fancy that Pauwels will try to take the fight to the mat, get sloppy and find himself lured into a submission.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Luke Bresnan, Round 1 (SUB)

Fight 6
Liam Fitzpatrick 4-2-0 v Vayle “Hammer” Belval 1-0-0: 5 Rounds of 5 Minutes for the DFC Bantamweight Championship

I must admit I am surprised that the only title fight on the card, is happening halfway through it, but I suppose from a certain viewpoint one could see how the main event is more likely to sell tickets and get people’s attention, no disrespect intended to either athletes in this title fight.

Fitzpatrick has a curious record in DFC, having so far only competed in title fights and also finishing both fights within 3 seconds of the end of the first round – you gotta hand it to the guy, he has good timing! Belval, on the other hand has competed in only one fight to get here, finishing Christa Warner In his debut via TKO. Is there some unspoken rule that Bantamweights barely if at all have to wait for title fights here?

Belval is a mean puncher and good wrestler, and under other circumstances I would assume that his striking advantage and good ground defence would put him in good stead to fight a predominantly ground based fighter, but Fitzpatrick is more capable than you might assume despite his not exactly early finishes.

I expect Belval to struggle with defending the takedowns, and when he DOES get caught with one, he won’t be able to defend well and will be submitted in round 2.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Liam Fitzpatrick, Round 2 (SUB)

Fight 7
Antonio “Mr Dangerous” Brown 2-0-0 v Caio “The Natural” Bottura 3-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 155lbs

Lightweight is a BAD – BAD division to be in if you can’t defend yourself against submission attacks or grappling. Crowned by Hugh Jaskok (1 of only 3 champions DFC has had that have held onto their belts so far since the belts inception) it is a division full of grappling masterminds who could snap off your limbs like a twig or choke you out faster than you could blink. We have two such fighters today, as Brown and Bottura (both ranked Brown Belt in BJJ) at 19 years old, a grand achievement.

I will be honest with you in saying that this is as close a fight that you could have ON PAPER that I have seen – BUT, fights are fought in a cage, not on paper. And inside the cage, Bottura has looked that little more impressive, with slightly more killer instinct than their opponent.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W
) Caio Bottura, Round 2 (SUB)

Fight 8
Bruno “The Godfather” Bigliotti Jr 0-0-0 v Matty “The Viper” Pritchard 2-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 135lbs

Matty Pritchard will look to add further fuel to the fire of his title fight claims that he has been fanning all over the place of late, as he takes on a fighter making his professional MMA debut in Bruno Bigliotti Jr. Does “The Viper” have what it takes to finish early? Of course – but he is in for a battering if he doesn’t take his opponent seriously. Bigliotti Jr, is a great boxer and comes from a very tough background if word of mouth is to be believed.

Bigliotti does have a chance if Pritchard starts slow, and gets caught in an early exchange, however I don’t see that happening as it doesn’t reflect how he has fought in the past.

All the pressure is on Pritchard to validate his wild claims about his prowess and not on the debuting Bigliotti Jr, which could be a detriment to the Englishman.

I think that Pritchard wins via submission in round one, either that or he is going down and going down hard….good luck then.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Matty Pritchard, Round 1 (SUB)

Fight 9
Dom “The Decisionator” Cruz 0-0-0 v Mars “Rocket Fuel” Asteroidbelt 4-4-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 145lbs

Asteroidbelt makes a return to DFC after an extended absence in which he won 3 fights and lost 2. He takes on the debuting, but highly touted Dom Cruz. Asteroidbelt may have guts to keep going and not back down from a fight, but I predict the only thing he will gain from this fight is a losing record, going 4-5 because from what I have heard whispered around, Cruz is one promising fighter and shouldn’t have any difficulty despatching a journeyman of Asteroidbelts calibre.

If this is true, I look forward to seeing it. Sorry Mars, I guess it just isn’t in the stars for you…..get it?.....no?.....ahhh screw you guys.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Dom Cruz, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Fight 10
Max “Coach” Glenclose 1-0-0 v Johnny “Great” Ness 0-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 170lbs

Two pro relative newcomers here making their DFC debut for our opening contest. There isn’t a lot that separates them when it comes to wrestling ability, as both are very well experienced in that regard. However, Ness has undoubtedly the superior stand-up ability and we can expect big things from him in his pro debut.

Glenclose just got paired with a fighter who has the edge on him here, not a knock on him – I just can’t see where he has the advantage.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Johnny Ness, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

This is a phenomenal card from top to bottom (So good the title fight doesn’t event get a podium finish) with a main event for the ages! If you want to know what DFC is all about, then check this card out – You WILL NOT be disappointed!

Dean Wesson: So DFC just announced that there will not be any title fights in October due to preparing for the night of champions where DFC Las Vegas will face the champions of the other DFC. This puts me in a strange place cause once I beat Vince Collins I'm next in line for the title shot. It doesn't bother me that I will have to take another contender down after Collins cause I love to fight. What bothers me is that the best LHW is not going to represent our org at the night of champions. So I will correct that error when I win the belt in November.

DFC: Sin City 8 – Prince vs. Wright (10 September 2016 – Hayashi’s Lounge, Las Vegas) Preview and Predictions – Written by Gabe T.S. Gardner (112290)
Sponsored by “King Of Fists” fight wear, official clothing of DFC – Las Vegas
Bet on this card using “Sin City Bookies”, your instincts could be worth money!

A welterweight title fight that we have all been waiting for is set for tonight’s main event as Prince Rogers Nelson gets ready to defend his championship against a teenage prodigy in Ira Wright. Sin City 8 is just the latest in a long line of stacked cards that, if you value the sport at all then you cannot afford to miss.

Fight 1
“Zombie” Prince Rogers Nelson 6-0-0 vs “Funny” Ira Wright 3-0-0: 5 Rounds of 5 Minutes for the DFC Welterweight Championship

This fight pits two of the most talented men in the entire organisation together – An experienced champion with brutal Muay Thai ability and sound wrestling against a Young buck with a lot to prove and a lot of hype behind him – with incredible boxing ability, great wrestling and a purple belt in BJJ.

I think that there aren’t really enough superlatives to describe the confrontation that is gonna happen in this fight, we have the best of the best at Welterweight here.

While I could be violently proven wrong, given it is a fight and anything can happen, I think that Wright (who looked so impressive against veteran Lobtov) just has the edge in all areas of the fight, with a stronger ground game and unbelievable boxing ability for his age. I don’t expect Nelson to down early at all, but I think after 2 and a half brutal rounds, he will finally give in under the onslaught of the younger, crisper Wright.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Ira Wright Round 3 (TKO/KO)

Fight 2
Ted Getstoned 4-0-0 vs Daniel Tinto 8-3-1: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 155lbs

World grappling champion Ted Getstoned makes his DFC debut, showing that DFC attracts truly the best competitors to its cage. He will face off against Daniel Tinto, who is fresh off of a win against Glenn Williamson.

This fight truly has the potential to end in seconds or go the full distance judging on how talented these fighters are with their respective grappling ability.

While I think Tinto’s experience in MMA rather than grappling may be a bonus here, does he have what it takes to beat a fighter who is undefeated in both sports and a world champion? I just don’t think I have seen that kind of quality from him yet.

I think that Getstoned gets the win here.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Ted Getstoned, Round 1 (SUB)

Fight 3
Rhys Crowder 2-0-0 v Gerard “The Bounty Hunter” Butler 5-1-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 170lbs

If there is one welterweight I think could outbox the outstanding Mr Wright, then it is this man: Rhys Crowder. Crowder is a DFC original having fought all his fights here, and looks set to continue his charge up the table in my mind.

Butler is no slouch, and just came off of a well fought decision loss against the current champion – but oh god does Crowder have a scary ability to zip in and out of striking distance, firing off a machine gun clip worth of blows to your head and body in second. As it stands, he hasn’t missed one punch. NOT ONE. He isn’t fighting bums either, but it might as well make no difference.

This will look really awkward in hindsight if I completely miss the mark here, but I think Crowder ends it in round 2.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Rhys Crowder, Round 2 (TKO/KO)

Fight 4
Chad “Convict” Domarr 4-2-0 v Gil “Bipolar” Jacobson 3-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 155lbs

Hmm, how can I pad out the fact that Chad Domarr has no chance of winning into a longer more entertaining prediction…

Well the simple truth is I think that this is a bit of a mismatch here. Domarr looked good in his first three pro fights, winning with strikes and submissions, showing his versatility. But, he has lost to fighters that I fear Jacobsen would eat alive inside of a round.

Domarr is a good fighter, but he is clearly outmatched here as the edge in standup and wrestling easily goes to his opponent.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Gil Jacobson, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Fight 5
Ali Patterson 3-0-0 v Tim “The German” Arntz 1-2-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 205lbs

Tim Arntz has a lot of potential given his ablity, but has always looked off of the pace against his adversaries. I believe if he got his head in the game or looked to change gyms or trainers he could really develop into a good fighter, but as it stands he hasn’t appeared to have made those choices. That said, I do believe he can use his superior ground game to frustrate his opponent tonight and really control the fight.

Coming off of the back of his first career win, he has to be a little more confident and I think despite Patterson having a better record, believe that he can (as I always like to put it) send him out in a flurry of blows.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Tim Arntz, Round 2 (TKO)

Fight 6
Tom “Tommy” Thomas 1-0-0 v Johnny Yocum 4-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 135lbs

Nobody has made the most of what I would call a limited but well-rounded skillset like Yocum has in his career. The jack of all trades style fighter has recorded four KO victories with most coming in the third round, so while he might not have natural one punch KO ability he sure has heart and grit to keep on swinging for that long.

He faces a relative unknown in Thomas, a fighter that showed excellent boxing ability in his debut fight, but attempted 25 takedowns?! Why exactly? We don’t know, but hopefully he has learned not to gas himself chasing takedowns when his stand-up is clearly his strong suit.

My heart and brain both say Thomas has more natural ability and that’s better than a coin toss to decide this one, Thomas to KO Yocum in round 1

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Tom Thomas, Round 1 (TKO)

Fight 7
Ernest “P” Worrell 1-0-0 v Daren “The Green” Greeley 2-3-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 135lbs

Greeley’s record does not necessarily reflect the man’s abilities. His losses came to top fighters and not a bunch of bums. I think he has more to give than you might expect and the DFC debuting Worrell is going to find that out for himself.

Worrell, primarily fights using a combination of fast and sharp MT kickboxing strikes and using his emphatic wrestling ability to smother his opponents on the ground. Greeley, as we have seen fights primarily standing up and will want to use his superior striking ability to full effect here.

There are no easy fights, and this isn’t going to be one of them but I think that Greeley will take this fight by decision.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W
) Daren Greeley, Round 3 (SD/UD)

Fight 8
Mi “Long Saber” Han Lo 1-0-0 v Manny “The Man” Menendez 0-1-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 145lbs

This fight represents a bit of a lull in an otherwise stellar card as two of the fighters that are…how you might say…at the bottom of the featherweight food chain.

We have two more good fights coming up so I will afford a concise yet accurate prediction for this one. Manny Menendez just didn’t look suited to the sport in his debut, either he needs to get a new training camp or just switch managers or something because I think at featherweight, the 6ft featherweight needs to look into fighting perhaps in lightweight or welterweight. Some weight were the cut doesn’t nearly starve him to death.

As for Han Lo, they have slightly superior striking ability and that is where I think they will take the edge, but the fight will go the full three rounds as both newcomers will be cautious in this stage of their careers.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Mi Han Lo, Round 3 (SD/UD)

Fight 9
“Hyena” Jack Mason 3-1-0 v Horacio Martins 1-1-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 185lbs

We might as well call Mason 3-0 because his debut loss came against a heavyweight as Mason foolishly entered an open weight tournament (scientists are still trying to work out why) but since he has reverted back to his native Middleweight, he has flourished.

Martins is coming off of a loss from way back at Sin City 1 where he was KO’d in under 40 seconds by Combat device, which possibly could hint at a weak chin. Martins has good heart and all around skills, but against a pure striker like Mason, I am not sure if he has the longevity to last for than 2 rounds before being broken down.

I think Mason will fight an extremely aggressive fight and eventually catch martins out in the second round with a stiff shot, and pile on from there.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Jack Mason, Round 2 (TKO/KO)

Fight 10
Johnny Burma 2-0-0 v Mike “Blades” Lonestar 2-2-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 205lbs

Two skilled wrestlers and BJJ practitioners are set to lock horns in our opening contest of the evening as Burma takes on Lonestar. I think this is a close contest but that the key to victory here will be Burma’s superior wrestling ability.

I think that his skills with takedowns and vicious ground and pound will take Lonestar out of his comfort zone and very possibly be forced into a mistake, that will cause him to get trapped in either a submission or being ground ‘n’ pounded into the canvas.

It’s a stoppage win for Burma in my mind.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Johnny Ness, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Another amazing event for DFC here as the “Sin City” name gains even more recognition for being a byword for “Great MMA action”. There is so much to look forward to here, so be sure not to miss it at Hayashi’s Lounge, Sept. 10th!

It depends on how Jay wants space out fights. I originally said that but when I figured out my next events, I found out I can do title fights as late as October 8 and still give my champions three weeks before NOC.

"Hyena" Jack Mason: After my completley unsurprising demolition of Horacio Martins, Its time for me to start punching UP the rankings rather than DOWN, Combat Device doesn't have an opponent yet, does he....Hmm...

Mayhem 9 Shreve v The Axe
http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/posters/1472241634MAYHEM9.jpg

Review by Jay Lawrence

Mayhem 9 was a successful event that went off without a hitch except for the group of naked protestors who ran through the arena during intermission. I guess that is the price one pays for booking an arena so close to Fremont Street. Either way, Mayhem 9 had a near max capacity crowd at 1868 adoring fans in attendance. The critics rated the event a 118.64, but we think they spent too much time in the hookah lounge before coming up with that number. In total the org lost money, but that is the side effect of taking care of our fighters.

Main Event - Larry Shreve v Artur The Axe

Gabe predicted this one as Larry came out banging hard and finished this one in the first round. The Axe actually got the first punch on Shreve and it ended up being the only punch The Axe would really get. Shreve moved this fight into the clinch and his strength kept him there. The Axe had no answer for the clinch raping received by Shreve.

Shreve Jr unloads with a big right hand that wobbles The Axe! He's leaning against the cage trying to keep his feet but Shreve Jr is unloading with more strikes now! The Axe drops to his knees and the referee stops the fight for a TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:16 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Larry Shreve Jr!

A relieved looking Larry Shreve Jr thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.

Although Shreve got the microphone and his hand raised at the end, he definitely didn't look like he just got out of the gym. The photo of Shreve taken after the fight - http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/0/14549547908012.png

Shreve will go on to fight Lahey for the title at the Heavyweight Division. Their fight will go down on 9-24-16 at Sin City 10 in the Hayashi's Lounge Arena.

Co-Main Event - Two Chugga Chugga v Ian Domman

I was unsure of what to expect in this fight. Chugga Chugga seemed the better fighter but is not yet signed to a gym, so I wasn't sure if his manager was neglecting him or not. Despite the manager's intents with Chugga Chugga, it was somewhat entertaining to watch him pull Ian in and out of the clinch 8 different time in just 3 minutes. Chugga kept the fight standing and avoided being taken down by the grappler domman. Domman didn't get a strike in, but Domman sure hit him with a few.

This victory from Chugga moved him into the top spot in the light heavyweight division at DFC. However, with Bryan Mayhem recently signing on with DFC, Bryan took the spot away from Chugga. Chugga immediately challenged Bryan to a fight and the two will be competing on 9-24-16 at the first round of the TUF semis. The winner will get the next title shot.

Dean Lockwood v Jackson Fumire

Gabe had an interesting take on this fight. Looking at the histories between the fighters Gabe felt Fumire's chin wasn't strong enough to withstand Lockwood despite Fumire being the better fighter. Gabe thought of Fumire as the favorite to win, but predicted Lockwood to win. This was the first time Gabe has done this in over 20 events and over 200 predicted fights from him. Well Gabe was spot on here! Lockwood had amazing takedown defense stuffing 4 straight takedowns from Fumire. If Fumire succeeded in any of those takedowns I think Fumire would've quickly forced Lockwood to tap. However, Lockwood was able to find an opening for two punch combinations and that is all it took to knock Lockwood out. Glass chin? I think maybe.

Lockwood stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lockwood wants it to stay on the feet.
Lockwood is pawing at Fumire, trying to feel the distance before throwing out a cross that crashes into Fumire's nose. Fumire is badly hurt! Lockwood pounces, throwing wild strikes as both fighters end up on the ground! Fumire tries desperately to hold on but Lockwood is relentless in his assault! As Fumire receives an ever increasing number of unanswered strikes the referee pulls Lockwood away and this one is in the books!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dean Lockwood!

Lockwood's next fight will be on 9-24-16 against Johnny Ness who is a fellow boxer and might be testing Lockwood's chin!

Rauga Pascal v Gerry Zero

This was a classic standup vs. ground fighter. Rauga had the edge here though, scoring 10 in every round on every judge's card. Perhaps it is the standup advantage that he was actually punching Gerry while Gerry was trying to find a way to submit Rauga. 10 submission attempts and Rauga escaped them all. The fight went a full 15 minutes and it was a great fight to watch from every angle.

Rauga's next fight will be a true test of his ability as he goes against the notorious Samwell Lance. Rauga will need to figure out how to finish the fight as I don't think many fighters can last 15 minutes first Samwell and so far nobody has.

Alexander Pauwels v Luke Bresnan ***UNDERDOG VICTORY***

I LOVE it when the underdog wins! This is my goal when booking fights; create a fight that is tough for Gabe to predict and hope the underdog wins! This was in no way an easy one for anyone to predict. Two nearly identical opponents with short careers and a BIG right hand. Despite any thoughts before the fight, this fight really was Pauwels' in every sense of it. Pauwels truly dominated and finished in Mortal Kombat style with a HUGE uppercut from the clinch. Pauwels' next fight will be against Robb Stark on 9-28-2016 and with both fighters coming off big wins, this should be a great fight to watch!

Bantamweight Title Fight - Liam Fitzpatrick v Vayle Belval

Why would a title fight be so low on the card? Because Fitzpatrick is totally DOMINATING the bantamweight division and the fans already know it! Who wants to see a fighter they know will win? Fitzpatrick has a huge following and it just grew here. It took two rounds, but Fitzpatrick was able to finish yet another opponent.

and Fitzpatrick counters with a nice double leg into side control. Belval won't be happy with that.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sloppy strikes there by Fitzpatrick.
http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/fight/sub.gif
Fitzpatrick in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Belval is tapping! That's the end of the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Liam Fitzpatrick!
Liam Fitzpatrick retains his bantamweight title!
Liam Fitzpatrick bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.

Fitzpatrick became the first DFC fighter to reach 3 title wins. He has his work cut out for him though as his next fight will be against the undefeated Matty The Viper Pritchard in a showing between two brown belts. The two are already at each other's throats in the buzz. I'm really excited to see the two of them go head to head.

Caio Bottura v Antonio Brown

When Antonio Brown first came to DFC he sure was loud. He strut around Conor McGregor style going after the best as he came through the doors. Brown backed up his mouth as he dominated his debut fight against a formidable opponent, but Caio Bottura is a specimen created for the championship. Caio is the 3rd DFC fighter to get 4 wins after this fight. Caio is undefeated in his professional career and has finished every one of his fights in the first round. Brown gets some credit as he lasted longer than anyone else has against Caio. Caio Bottura fights the popular Ted Getstoned on 9-23-16 and the winner in that fight will get the next title shot.

Matty The Viper Pritchard v Bruno Bigliotti Jr

In a fight for the title contention with some friendly (not friendly) banter in the Buzz, these two created enough hype to deserve a title shot. The winner of this fight gets to face Liam Fitzpatrick (this sounds like a punishment more than a reward) for the bantamweight title. Well, Matty did this in quick fashion taking Bruno to the ground and setting an armbar. Bigliotti was only able to get 1 punch in on Matty before tapping at 39 seconds into the fight. While walking away from the fight, Pritchard had several fans throwing white grappling belts at him. Rumor is, Liam Fitzpatrick paid fans to throw white belts at Pritchard while stating "Pritchard likes white belts". Pritchard has been criticized for his last two fights being against white belts and he hasn't been tested against another grappler yet.

Dom Cruz v Mars Asteroidbelt

Dom Cruz debuted huge here! With his first fight being against an older fighter who has fought 8 fights, I was really uncertain as to what might happen in this one. The result - Dom DOMINATED, 22 punches and 1 leg kick to a series of missed punches and a failed takedown from Mars. Dom took control of this fight early and finished it early at 2:58 in the first round. Well done Dom, glad to have you in DFC! Dom's next fight will be against a tough opponent in Maurice Smith on 9-24-16.

Johnny Ness vs. Max Glenclose

The opening fight, the one that gets the fans in their seats and truly gets the party started. Johnny Ness was debuting for DFC here going against the undefeated (1-0) Glenclose. Glenclose is criticized for being too balanced, and his balanced build did not have any answers for the boxing abilities of Johnny Ness. Johnny gets a special notch in my book as he walked to the cage with White and Nerdy playing.

AWARDS!
FIGHT OF THE NIGHT - Shreve vs. Artur. Although Shreve controlled this fight from the clinch, he did it with a bloodied face and after Artur got the first punch. The fight only lasted 1:16 seconds in the cage, but it will last a lifetime in the memory of fans.

KO of the night - Dean Lockwood. Two punch combinations and the dude destroyed the favorite to win. Well done Dean!

Submission of the night - Matty The Viper Pritchard. Matty made Bigioti look like a gym sparring scrub in this one taking Bigiliotti to the mat quick and painfully. Matty was impressive here and I really look forward to seeing what he can do vs. the champ!

DFC KT 1: The Christening

Date: September 21st, 2016

Venue: Hayashi’s Lounge

Event Partner: King of Fists

Greetings everyone! My name is Eddie Bravo, and I’ll be the one doing the previews and reviews for DFC’s 300k KT events. Before we get started, let me tell you guys a little more about myself. My real name is Patrick, living and training under the actual Eddie Bravo at 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu HQ in Downtown LA. I am the mind behind the Gonzalez Brothers, the owner of LOD: Strikezone KT, and have over 120 fights under my management belt. As a freshman in college going for a Journalism major, im doing these write-ups for practice and for fun, so please, I would love to hear any constructive criticism anyone can give me. I love MMA, I love this game, and I love to write so I hope I can provide you guys some awesome content…. AAAND NOOOW!! This is the moment MMA Tycoon fans around the world have been waiting for. The 300ks are finally here and it’s time for the launching of the DFC’s Super-heavyweight KT division. Jay Lawrence’s DFC Las Vegas brings you 10 action packed fights, and im going to do my best to predict these historic matchups, so let’s get started with the first fight of the night.

Jerome “Kansasn” Cornhusker vs. Kevork “The Krushin Russian” Kriesher

Jerome Cornhusker takes on one half of the Kriesher twins, Kevork Kriesher at the foot of this historic event. The Kansas native has spent his camp in Montreal, sporting a Muay Thai backround. Hes much taller than the Russian as well as he is heavier, which may make it difficult for Kevork to escape Jerome’s clinch.

Kevork Kriesher comes into this fight with primarily a boxing backround, Kevork is actually spending his camp in Amsterdam, which a lot of fighters on the card seem to be doing, which may get a little sketchy when it comes time for the post-fight drug test, but judging from Kriesher’s Instagram he has been all business leading up to this fight. He’s gonna need to be sharp if hes going to be able to sedate the “Kansasn’s” versatile Muay Thai attacks. He’s the smaller guy, so he may be the faster fighter, but this is MMA and anything can happen.

Prediction: I feel Cornhusker is going to be too much for Kriesher. (Cornhusker via 2nd round TKO.)

Neal Gamby vs. “Big” Van Richters

Next up Neal Gamby will take on “Big” Van Richters. Gamby is also spending his camp in Montreal. Coming in with wonderful boxing and ties to the Legion of Doom alliance, Neal has a ton of potential. But for this one he’s going to be at an extreme weight disadvantage against the man they call “Big” Van. Neal truly needs to adopt the ol’ stick & move strategy until big man grows tired. If his agility is on point, he can pull off the upset.

“Big” Van Richters comes in at a staggering 300lbs, standing 225cm tall. The Amsterdam native is primarily a Muay Thai fighter but appears to have developed some decent boxing to go along with it. I expect “Big” Van to attack the smaller Neal Gamby with all 8 limbs as he has the wider variety of strikes.

Prediction: Van Richters imposes his size and skills inside round one and overwhelms Gamby early(Van Richters via 1st round KO)

Shoulder Devil vs. Vitor Blades

For the third fight of the evening, Shoulder Devil fights Vitor Blades. Devil has a slight height disadvantage but has the far superior skillset. Shoulder has respectable boxing and wonderful Muay Thai. Whether he sets up his kicks with his hands, or vice versa, Shoulder Devil should be able to hang where ever the fight goes.

Vitor Blades, born in Greece, trained in Montreal. Vitor is the leaner, taller fighter here. Coming out of JcVd’s management team, Blades is a superb boxer, I expect Blades to stick Devil with his long jab and keep Devil out of the clinch range.

Prediction: I feel Devil’s standup is too well-rounded and should be able to handle whatever offensive attacks Blades has to offer. I believe Shoulder Devil will finish it in the first(Devil via 1st Round TKO)

Freddie “The Beast” Schmall Jr. vs. Kung Lao

In the fourth fight of the evening, we’ve got Freddie “The Beast” Schmall Jr. battling against Switzerland’s Kung Lao. Freddie has a significant size advantage over Lao, weighing at a maximum of 300lbs. The Brit, Schmall comes in with wonderful Muay Thai and decent Boxing. Represented by Jackson Wink, I expect Schmall to fight a smart fight.

Kung Lao is training out of Canada, Kungs skillset nearly mirrors his opponent’s. Kung’s boxing is a notch above Freddie’s while Schmall just edges Lao in the Muay Thai department. I expect Kung Lao to bring the fight to Freddie with extreme aggression and try not to let “The Beast” get into his rhythm.

Prediction: I hate to pick against both of Jc Vd’s guys but I feel like Freddie is better where it counts. I sense a war coming along in this one but on record I gotta go with Schmall via Unanimous Decision.

Mike Ripley vs. Aldolpho “The Wolfman” Fernando

To kick off the main card, we have Mike Ripley taking on Aldolpho “The Wolfman” Fernando. Mike and Aldolpho are virtually identical in the size department. In the skill department, not so much. Mike looks to have potential to be an elite MMA fighter, but he’s got some serious work to do if he’s going to excel in the KT world. Training out of Amsterdam, Mike pretty undeveloped striking skills, but has a good Muay Thai game. Ripley is outskilled here but like I said at the top, this is MMA, anything can happen.

The Cuban, Adolpho Fernando spent his camp in the fight capital of the world, Las Vegas. Fernando comes into this fight with wonderful Boxing. If he can avoid the potential clinch game of Ripley, he should be able to pick his shots and use his accuracy to stay out of trouble.

Prediction: I expect the taller Adolpho Fernando to find that fight ending shot within the opening roung(Fernando via 1st Round KO)

Egek “The African” Mumba vs. Gerald “The Russian Rush” Kriesher

As we go deeper into the card, we witness a battle between two LOD, b prospects. Egek “The African” Mumba will look to handle the other Kriesher brother. Egek, I apologize to you and your manager for my bold prediction and brutal honest, but I honestly don’t see what Mumba’s doing in the KT cage. You could easily be a TWGC legend with your grappling pedigree, but I guess it’s worth a shot, right? Egek Mumba comes in to this fight with virtually no striking backround, but has wonderful wrestling. His wrestling game might help him in the clinch but even that is far-fetched.

Gerald Kriesher, brother of Kevork Kriesher will be debuting alongside his brother but will be spending his camp in the States, Gerald is fighting out of Las Vegas, Nevada. Kriesher is coming into this fight with excellent Muay Thai, with no wrestling. Now, if this were an MMA fight, “The Russian Rush” would be in some serious trouble, but for this one he’s safe from the ground. I expect Kriesher to fake it without much resistance unless “The African” has a couple tricks up his sleeve for us all.

Prediction: Gerald Kriesher ends it quickly and decisively(Kriesher via 1st Round TKO).

“Slick Taint” Rosco Grouch vs. Hipster “The Insurance Policy” Canuck

The next fight on the card will be contested between “Slick Taint” Rosco Grouch and “The Insurance Policy” Hipster Canuck. Now these two have the two most intriguing nicknames I’ve covered so far, but they also have some stellar kickboxing accolades to go with it. Rosco, managed by highly respected manager, Storman Norman, will likely try to use his speed as he is the smaller fighter. Expect a good clinch game as he also sports a decent wrestling backround.

Hipster Canuck is the much larger fighter, born and raised in the same land that produced one of hip-hop’s most recognizable voices in Drake, the Toronto resident presents a slightly better Muay Thai game. Weighing in at 300lbs, I expect Canuck to out-muscle Grouch in the clinch, so I believe he should aim to take the fight there.

Prediction: Although Rosco Grouch has the better overall skillset, Canuck has the better standup and the extra size should help.(Rosco via Unanimous Decision).

David Mirkovic vs. Benedetto Orsini

As we approach the tail end of the card, we still have one more banger for you guys before our co-main event. The proud Croatian, David Mirkovic will look to take out Benedetto Orsini. These two are literally neck and neck in terms of height, with David getting the slight edge in weight. Based out of Las Vegas, Mirkovic comes in to this fight with world class Boxing. Look for David to go out and impose a boxing clinic.

Benedetto Orsini, born in Italy, based out of The Netherlands, is actually spending his camp for this fight in Montreal. Orsini has an extremely well-rounded game for a young MMA fighter, but for KT, I don’t see him competing at this level right now. He holds no standup advantage, gives up a bit of size, I honestly don’t see this going very well for Orsini but I’ve been wrong before.

Prediction: I expect this fight to draw out for a little while until Orsini gets dropped. I think his heart will allow him to see a second round(Mirkovic via 2nd Round TKO)

Co-Main Event

Delato Krab vs. “Slick” Dick Doss

In the co-main event of the evening, we have Delato Krab taking on “Slick” Dick Doss. The prospect representing the La Familia alliance is fighting out of Amsterdam. He is another one that has wandered onto the KT scene from Wrestling as he is a wonderful takedown artist in a league without takedowns. Chin down, hands up Delato. Expect a bumpy ride.

“Slick” Dick, unlike his opponent, comes in with a heavy kickboxing pedigree. Fighting out of the now infamous, Stockton CA. Doss will be repping the LOD clan. As the much taller and heavier fighter, I doubt “Slick” Dick Doss will have trouble putting Krab away.

Prediction: “Slick” Dick has his way with Krab(Doss via 1st Round TKO)

Main Event

Benson McGregor vs. Francisco “Kyokushin” Neto

And we have finally arrived at our Main Event of the evening! In the red corner we have Benson McGregor squaring off against “Kyokushin” Francisco Neto. McGregor is particularly short for the weight class but really heavy. I’ve never seen him throw a punch, but I’m sure he’s packing some serious power in those hands. Managed by Shane Johnson, the LOD product comes into this fight with a wonderful boxing backround. Let’s see if he’s able to catch the leaner Francisco with a good one.

Francisco “Kyokushin” Neto is also sporting Olympic level boxing. But as he is the taller and leaner fighter, I expect the Brazilian, Neto to try and impose a sharp counter game and pick at Benson until he can no longer make the count.

Prediction: Benson McGregor via flash KO upset win, topping off another stacked card brought to you by DFC Las Vegas.

Hope y’all enjoyed the preview guys! PEACE IM OUT!! #10P4L

DFC Sin City 8 Prince v. Wright

http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/posters/1472160767oie_z08hjz619TBr.gif

Review by Jay Lawrence

First of all, JcVd's posters truly are the best. I love the posters he comes up with for the Sin City events, I just can't get enough of it. Sin City 8 was held on 9-10-2016 at Hayashi's Lounge in Las Vegas. 1799 fans showed up in attendance and the event had a rating of 144.05. This event was brought to you by King of Fists clothing. I typically like to start with the main event first, but for this review I will be writing it in chronological order starting with the opening fight and saving the best for last.

Opening fight - Mike Lonestar vs Johnny Burma ***UNDERDOG VICTORY***

Burma entered this fight undefeated and Lonestar has had a very hot and cold career so far. Lonestar is a ground fighter and that's where he took this fight early.

A low kick from Burma is predictable there

http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/fight/takedown2.gif
and Lonestar counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

From there it was only a matter of time before Lonestar found a way to make Burma tap. Burma is a standup fighter with limited ground skills -

Lonestar pushes a forearm under Burma's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Burma is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Lonestar walked out of the cage immediately after the fight and despite the ringmaster's attempts, no statement was given. This win from Lonestar marks hopefully a pivotal moment in his career where things will start to look up. Lonestar's next fight will not be easy though as he faces Tim Artnz on 9-28-2016.

Jack Mason vs Horacio Martins
Martins really wanted to keep this fight in the clinch early on, but Jack Mason had other plans. Mason broke the clinch only seconds after Martins pulled it. Near the 1 minute mark, Mason was able to score a big hit on Martins.

Good standup being displayed there by Mason as he connects with a hook.
http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/fight/rocked.gif
Martins is rocked!

Mason surprisingly took the fight to the clinch which could've been a dangerous move, but Mason surgically attacked Martins from the clinch before he pushed away to make space and finish the fight.

Mason flashes Martins a smile before throwing a beast of a right hand, straight down the pipe. Martins's eyes follow the hand right onto his nose, taking in it's full glory... and then darkness. Martins crumples to the floor! He's out cold! Mason punches the air and yells at the top of his lungs - yeeeeeeeeeeah!!!! This one is all over!

Mason has been on fire lately. This makes 4 wins in a row for Mason and his next fight will be against Combat Device on 9-28-16.

Mi Han Lo vs Manny Menendez

This fight started off strong for Menendez. Menendez scored a nice head kick that nearly took Han Lo out immediately and Menendez followed that with a nice takedown into side control. It looked like Menendez was going to tapout Han Lo with a Kimura, but Han Lo barely escaped. From there it was mostly Han Lo desperately trying to avoid getting submitted and throwing in some ground strikes whenever he could.

Round 2 brought the fight back into the standup where Han Lo has the slight advantage. Han Lo used excellent counter and takedown defense to win the fight early in the 2nd round.

Menendez misses with a takedown
and Han Lo counters with a straight right hand.
http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/fight/rocked.gif
Menendez is rocked!
Han Lo drops Menendez with a naaaaasty hook - Menendez is in real trouble here! Han Lo dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mi Han Lo!

This fight brings Han Lo's professional record to 2-0. Han Lo will be taking a little time off to train before his next fight. I already feel sorry for "Long Saber's" next victim.

Ernest Worrell vs. Daren Greeley
This bantamweight bout brought the best of both worlds to beautiful Vegas (say that 10 times). Worrell was very aggressive in this fight as he took to the clinch early and dissected Greeley's defense from close range. Worrel's fans were in a rage when they saw Worrell back out of the clinch after being so dominate there. Worrell and Greeley closed and separated several times in the first round, but it was clearly Worrell who won the round.

Round two started off with much of the same toe to toe attack. Worrell looked a little fatigued in round 2, but stayed in the fight. Unfortunately Worrell appeared content on taking the fight to the clinch and then breaking the clinch soon after. Perhaps if Worrell stayed in the clinch a little longer he could've finished the fight. Just before the 3 minutes mark Worrell broke the clinch and had a hard time getting back to it. Greeley was able to capitalize on his reach advantage and he kept Worrell at bay. This was a close round, but Greeley took the round on 2 of the 3 judge's cards (3rd judge tied it).

By round 3 the fans were on their feet and screaming. For an undercard bout this one was entertaining. Worrell's fans were slowly getting more and more upset as the underdog appeared to have the ability to dominate the fight, but kept making poor decisions by breaking the clinch and allowing Greeley the reach advantage. The third round was close, but Greeley was clearly the more dominate fighter in round 3.

Both fighters were clearly gassed by the end of the fight. They both put everything on the line for the fans in Vegas. In total for the fight, Greeley landed 0 strikes from close range, but scored on 24 strikes and 4 punch combos from long range. Worrell hit from long and short, but was far more effective from short range. Worrell was criticized heavily for breaking the clinch and I firmly believed he would've won the fight if he kept it in the clinch. Greeley won the fight and deserved the win for simply being the smarter fighter. This was a GREAT fight between these two and Greeley's next fight will determined as the DFC staff have had trouble contacting Greeley's manager Dirk Dickbutt. Rumor is Dickbutt was enjoying a night out in a bar for gay men in Vegas and Dickbutt left with an unknown man. Dickbutt has not been heard of since and is currently listed as a missing person with suspicious circumstances.

Tom Thomas vs. Johnny Yocum

Yocum showed up to this fight undefeated at 4-0. Yocum is also the older and more experienced fighter. However, Tom Thomas at 1-0 was actually the favorite to win this fight due to his ability to finish fights early. Well, Thomas performed to expectations. Thomas attacked Yocum from top to bottom and Yocum couldn't find a way to connect with the quick moving Thomas. Yocum changed tactics and went for the clinch, but Thomas was getting the better end of Yocum there. Yocum broke the clinch and it didn't take long after that for Thomas to finish him.

Thomas lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/fight/rocked.gif
Yocum is rocked!
Thomas lands a jab to Yocum's midsection.
Yocum is still on wobbly legs! Can Thomas finish him?
Yocum is starting to get sloppy and is letting his hands down. Thomas just took advantage and landed a stinging jab. Oh! Now a right hook, right on the button! Yocum has gone limp and this one is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Tom Thomas!

Thomas wins another great KO victory, really displaying his ability to hit hard. Thomas will have a tough fight coming up on 9-24-16 against Sam Keene, where Thomas will again be fighting an older, more experienced fighter. Keep an eye on Thomas as his career progresses, this kid has talent and an eye for the belt.

Ali Patterson vs. Tim Arntz ***UNDERDOG VICTORY***

Arntz was expected to win this one especially after his dominant performance in his last fight. However, Arntz showed up to this fight a bit drained (maybe a cold?) and just didn't seem to have the energy going in. Perhaps some better fight preparation could've given Arntz the victory here. Ali Patterson, with his granite chin and amazing boxing skills showed up determined and ready to fight. Patterson took the fight to Arntz right away.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Patterson uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Arntz.
Patterson throws a big counter combination but Arntz scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/fight/knockdown.gif
Oooooh!!! Patterson has knocked Arntz down with a huge combo! Patterson steps away and waves a wobbly Arntz back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Patterson stayed on the offensive keeping Arntz on his heels.

Patterson connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Arntz tumbling to the canvas! Patterson pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Arntz was done - good stoppage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Ali Patterson!
An intense looking Ali Patterson took to the microphone post fight and gave a little speech: 'Gabe T.S. Gardner sorry bro don't ever count me out. I'm coming for the title next.'.

I love it! Patterson finishes the fight in 25 seconds and calls out DFC's own staff member - Gabe T.S. Gardner, for predicting Arntz to win! Patterson does not yet have another fight booked, but we will likely be seeing him again on 9-28-16 in London after a worthy opponent can be chosen.

Chad Domarr and Gil Jacobson

When this fight was booked Domarr appeared to have an advantage, but Jacobson has been training hard. Jacobson showed up looking strong and lean. Domarr tried to bring this fight into a clinch, but Jacobson had other plans.

Domarr tries to clinch up
and Jacobson connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/fight/rocked2.gif
Domarr is rocked!
Jacobson lands a big uppercut and this one is all over! His foe lies motionless on the canvas - a massive one punch knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Gil Jacobson!
Our winner, Gil Jacobson, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.

Jacobson was truly dominate here, countering 9 clinch attempts from Domarr and finishing the bout in just 1:24. This fight took Jacobson to the near top of the weight class and his next fight will be for the title on 10-7-16 against champion Hugh Jaskok.

Rhys Crowder and Gerard Butler
Crowder is arguably one of the best 290k+ welterweights in the game. Crowder is a 20 year old project managed by Abe Beasley who has no issues fighting late creation 25 year olds. Butler withstood 69 punches from the world class boxer, and Butler was knocked down three times, but one can only be a punching bag for so long...at least until the ref intervenes.

Butler with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Crowder to score with a decent uppercut.
Butler gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Crowder gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rhys Crowder!

Crowder scored his 3rd DFC win here and has shown he is in it to win it. Crowder's next fight will be on 10-7-16 as he faces off against Ira Wright for the belt and title of best Welterweight fighter. It should be an interesting fight as Crowder is a world class Boxer, but he's only a white belt. Wright on the other hand is a very good boxer and a purple belt.

Co-Main Event - Ted Getstoned (9-0) vs Daniel Tinto (8-3-1) ***UNDERDOG VICTORY***

Going into this fight, I didn't think Tinto had much of a chance of winning. Tinto had a great season on The island, but Getstoned is a World Champion defeating 5 other grapplers on his way to the title in TWGC. Getstoned went on to submit 4 other top fighters in the Highland Games. With a record of 9-0, Getstoned appeared to have every advantage in this one. In just 48 seconds, Tinto proved the world wrong; Tinto was able to catch Getstoned in an armbar and force the tapout. Tinto and Getstoned are two of the most popular fighters in the lightweight class and both have been called out already. Tinto will likely be facing Tommy Hanes on 10-7-16 and Getstoned is set to fight the undefeated Caio Bottura on 9-23-16.

MAIN EVENT - Welterweight Champion Prince Rogers Nelson vs. Ira Wright

This was the event we've all been waiting for. First of all, what one needs to know is prior to this event Nelson called out Wright in a closed door request to CEO Lawrence. Wright went into CEO's Lawrence's office and requested the same thing. Therefore, each fighter secretly requested to fight the other and the fight was setup ASAP.

The fight started off aggressive with Ira Wright on the attack pushing back Nelson. Nelson had trouble finding an opening, but scored big with an uppercut on Wright's chin opening a cut on Wright within the first minute; a scary thought happening so early in a fight. Nelson became a little more aggressive after opening the cut on Wright, but he had trouble connecting. Wright was precise with his punches landing 98% of them to Nelson's less than 20% hit percentage. Ira clearly dominated round 1 and Nelson appeared out-matched.

Round 2 continued more of the same. Wright appeared to be in the zone as if in a good sparring session while Nelson struggled to compose himself. Soon after the 3 minute marker in the 2nd round Wright landed a big punch on Nelson's chin that rocked him. Wright just laid on the onslaught after that to finish the fight.

Wright cracks Rogers Nelson with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Oh Rogers Nelson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Wright smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Rogers Nelson gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Wright gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Rogers Nelson is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ira Wright!
Ira Wright is the new welterweight champion!
Ira Wright decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
Prince Rogers Nelson spoke after the fight, saying 'I may have just lost, but I'm still a sexy M.F.'.

Wright becomes the new Welterweight Champion and is currently the highest ranked fighter in DFC at rank 471!!! Wright must defend his title against Rhys Crowder on 10-7-16 if he is to travel to St. Petersburg and take on the best Russia has to offer in an America vs. Russia Night of Champions on 10-30-16.

AWARDS

Fight of the Night - There were a lot to choose from. Wright v Prince and Greeley v Worrell were close choices, but I've got to give it to Rhys Crowder vs. Gerard Butler - These two stood toe to toe and threw huge punches at each other. They gave it everything they had and they both showed a lot of heart, but Rhys was clearly the better boxer of the two.
KO of the Night - Ali Patterson for a KO in just 25 seconds from an underdog!
Submission of the night - Mike Lonestar for being the underdog and forcing the tap in the first round.

There you have it folks, one of the best events held on Saturday and to date the 2nd best event ever held at DFC. Stay tuned for our next event, TUF round 7 in London on 9-14-16.

DFC: Mayhem 10 – Laston vs. McVitie (16 September 2016 – Hayashi’s Lounge, Las Vegas) Preview and Predictions – Written by Gabe T.S. Gardner (112290)
Sponsored by “King Of Fists” fight wear, official clothing of DFC – Las Vegas
Bet on this card using “Sin City Bookies”, your instincts could be worth money!

The middleweight title gets defended tonight in a fight that I personally have been waiting for, for a LONGTIME on an absolutely stacked card for Mayhem 10. Let’s run down what promises to be a spectacle of a card tonight.

Fight 1
John “Icon” Laston 7-1-0 vs Jack McVitie 3-1-0: 5 Rounds of 5 Minutes for the DFC Middleweight Championship

The toughest test of Laston’s career is no doubt this title defence as he takes on a phenomenal striker in his own right, Jack McVitie. Both fighters will try and keep the fight standing up and both made short work of their last opponents, with both disposing of them inside 30 seconds. That is “I touch you, you go to sleep” kind of power there.

So there isn’t much to separate the two at first glance, however – they do have one opponent in common: Harley Umbuku, who McVitie put away much earlier. Now, you can argue that Umbuku lasted longer against Laston because he brought his game to him, and it was for the title but I think it is very telling about the differences between the two. Laston might be riding a hot streak a mile long but he hasn’t quite fought somebody on McVities level.

As I said in the beginning, this is truly the toughest test – and one I think that McVitie is going to pass. I think both will be aggressive from the get go, but that McVities superior boxing ability will see him land that right punch or counter that right combination and put Laston down.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Jack McVitie Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Fight 2
Maximus Ragnarsson 5-0-0 vs Ortais Gatavs 3-1-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 145lbs

Another fight between two top strikes based warriors here as the undefeated Ragnarsson takes on DFC debuting Gatavs. This fight has got to be about Gatavs avoiding getting this fight in the clinch – Ragnarsson’s territory. One misstep and he could be flat on his ass before he sees that fatal knee, elbow or punch coming.

However I think that this will be a lot easier said than done when dealing with a 5-0 monster. This one is a tough fight to call as I have to deal with a lot of variables in the differences in their styles between the two, but I think that Ragnarsson is probably just a little too good for Gatavs. Round 1 KO.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Maximus Ragnarsson, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Fight 3
Uriah “Money” Hall 3-0-0 v Ingram Tottingham 5-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 185lbs

It would come as no surprise if the winner of this fight called out whoever will come out on top of our main event tonight, as potentially either fighter could add another notch to their undefeated streak. Tottingham has shown his absolutely LETHAL BJJ skills get him this far after he has amassed a 5-0 win streak with his last three fights ending inside round 1.

“Money” Hall however has seen his lethal kicking ability and great stand up skills get him this far, including a decision victory over tough cookie Combat Device, no small feat. My mind says that hall should have this one as he has the striking and wrestling advantage over his opponent, but Tottingham has that uncanny ability to get you into a world of hurt before you even know what has happened, and I think he will take Hall unawares at some point in the fight and force him to tap out.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Ingram Tottingham, Round 2 (SUB)

Fight 4
“Mysterious” Billy Smith 4-3-0 v Glenn Williamson 2-1-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 155lbs

Both fighters here are far better than their record suggests in my opinion, with both only just maintaining a winning record. The striking and wrestling advantage here goes to smith, who is a bit of an unknown quantity coming into this fight, making his DFC debut. Williamson has to be recognised as the superior grappler, having major experience when the fight gets taken to the mat.

If Smith isn’t careful and gets cocky, he could end up playing Williamsons game and get into a grappling match, which is one thing he does NOT want to do.

Other than that, Smith holds an advantage in every turn and I think he will have enough to get an eventual KO victory.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Billy Smith, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Fight 5
Marcus Sharpe 4-1-0 v Nairo Velasquez Quintana 3-1-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 155lbs

Yet another exciting lightweight fight in a row, as Sharpe as Quintana look to further their standing in the division after both having suffered losses early on in their DFC careers.

While Quintana does have the obvious striking advantage, I think that he is quite obviously outmatched on the ground, and has put all his chips on his ability to get a quick KO if he is to find success against Sharpe. Sharpe has good striking defence however and has been able to avoid being knocked out so far in his fight career, with only one stoppage loss against Glenn Williamson who submitted him.

I think that Sharpe will fight the more intelligent fight between the two, and submit Quintana in a round or so.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Marcus Sharpe, Round 2 (TKO)

Fight 6
Victor “Brejcha” Ruiz 1-2-0 v Hinrik “The Ice-Giant” Leifsson 3-1-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 265lbs

A big heavyweight fight is always an attraction, and we have just such a fight right here. Ruiz finally got his first win in his DFC debut against Auld Bawls, and is coming up against a fighter that has had a stop-start beginning to his DFC career in Hinrik Leifsson, a tall MT practitioner whose loss against Artur the Axe has taken some of the shine off of him.

Both fighters have a good chance of pulling out the W here but I think that Ruiz may turn Leifsson’s long limbs against him and submit in in a frantic floor scramble.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Victor Ruiz, Round 2 (SUB)

Fight 7
Dada Buckeye 2-1-0 v Stefan “The Swede” Struwe 4-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 145lbs

From Heavyweights to Featherweights as Buckeye will be the first opponent for Stefan Struwe, an undefeated first round knockout prospect whose first match in a big organisation like DFC could be very telling over whether or not he has what it takes.

This fight is definitely going fought standing up and I think that approach favours the debuting swede over Buckeye.

In an all-out brawl, like I predict any punch can put somebody away, but I think that Struwe is far too talented for Buckeye, and will continue his first round KO streak tonight.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Stefan Struwe, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Fight 8
Viktor “Devastater” Lombarge 2-1-0 v Tommy Gunner 2-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 185lbs

Two prominently grappling faced fighters square off for fight number 8 and as always, I look forward to any fight taking place at 185lbs. Common sense would dictate that the fighter with more experience or higher martial arts ranks would stand a better chance against someone with less experience, but while he might be the underdog, I think that Gunner has a good solid chance to pull off an upset by submitting Lombarge.

I say this because Gunner has seemed to be faster and more efficient than his opponent and that Lombarge has suffered a submission loss to a purple belt before.

I think that this grappling match will end with Gunner slipping into a submission that Lombarge just won’t be able to free himself from.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W
) Tommy Gunner, Round 2 (SUB)

Fight 9
Hundo “Barracuda” Varga 2-0-0 v Jacob Demon 3-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 155lbs

another lightweight fight in what is turning out to be a showcase for the division tonight. While I would consider both fighters relatively low down in the rankings, they have a good chance at generating momentum here.

Who do I think has the edge? Well I think that Demon’s superior striking ability makes him a heavy favourite, and has ended fights via submissions and strikes so far – such diversity in ability shows the hallmarks of a great fighter. In my opinion, while Varga has great wrestling ability, I don’t think that will be enough and he wil either get floored from a good right hook or submitted on the ground.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Jacob Demon, Round 2 (TKO/KO - SUB)

Fight 10
“The Closed Hand” Willie Stroker 0-1-0 v Jon “Junior” Lewis 2-2-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 185lbs

Last fight between two people very much at the bottom of their division here and I would bet I am not the only one who considers Lewis to be the overwhelming favourite. Not just because of the experience factor but I feel as though if Lewis can impose his boxing ability on the fight then he should have this one relatively easy.

Neither have overly impressed me so far, but this is definitely the time to start doing that.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Jon Lewis, Round 2 (TKO/KO)

And that IS IT! Another great card to come out of DFC- Las Vegas with the top four fights being as good as you can get and a pretty well-built undercard to match! The middleweight and lightweight divisions are both on display here so make sure to catch what will undoubtedly be a great night of fighting at Mayhem 10!
