Guest
I was thinking about starting up a business but don't wanna lose my VIP status....how often do these fail and would it be in my best interests to put this off for a while til i get established and earn some cash first? Qrash
I've seen so many companies come and go. Gyms seem to be the most fun, but the competition is tough as hell. Clothing companies don't require a ton of work, but right now there's just not enough benefit to a clothing company to make it worth it, IMO. Supplement companies are probably the toughest because there are a handful of established companies that have loyal followings. My advice, wait until the next city opens up and then start a company. Face Kicker
agreed. there's a ton of competition out there right now. you may want to wait until a new wave of sign-ups comes in, or even think about buying an existing company that doesn't have any debt. royp777
You can compete with established businesses, but you've got to have a solid game plan. If I didn't know exactly what I was going to do with my org and how it was going to be different, I would have got destroyed in Vegas. My best advice is to talk to established business owners and figure out what you want to do before you ever open the business. It's a lot like starting a business in the real world ... it takes work and a solid strategy.
Guest
I have wondered about this myself. I am still on the fence about getting VIP and would like to have something extra to "play" with if I do get it. Seems like a Gym would be nice. Make a couple "specialists" for sparring partners for my fighters and to bring in some more people and keep the costs down as much as possible. royp777
Sounds like a workable plan to me. I try starting my fighters in gyms like that because it saves money while I train my Conditioning and Strength up and then I can move right into sparring. I'll move my guys to elite gyms later on to work on their secondary skills. Just make sure you keep your gym clean and your equipment repaired. Those are both really important. Makrilli
Tokyo seems pretty empty. There are a lot of companies out there so I'd say the key is specialization. No one's gonna buy Q100 supplements or train with Respectable coaches and it might not be the best idea to include every weight class in an organization. So insted of providing a little bit of everything, try doing those few things just right. In a gym I'd propably start with sparring while adding a few elite coaches when the money starts pouring in. Advertisiment using wonderful sparring partners (if they really exist ) is recommended. Specialization is the key in a nutrition company. Make one good product instead of 5 mediocore ones. Giving contracts to new fighters with 1-0, 0-0 or even 0-1 is a good idea when starting an org. The difference in hype is pretty small compared to those 3-0 who may be getting thousands from a contract while the new guys can be recruited with mere hundreds. Mzz
I have my own gym and after 3 weeks of operating i´m almost at zero. first investments are always the hardest one and in this game you really need luck to get it going. so the best advice that i could offer would be to buy someones bussiness if they want to sell it (ofcourse debt free). that way you know for sure that you´re on stable acc and chances of that bussiness busting is lot smaller then start up company. It actually takes work. But you can succeed in an established city, it just takes a good plan and you have to be dedicated.
Guest
Really on the fence about going VIP and curious about starting up a gym. In all honesty is getting a gym going pretty difficult? My thought is to take some of the VIP fighter slots to put together sparring partners for each discipline and keeping a smaller stable of "active" fighters. I know VIP will be beneficial in terms of keeping an eye on progress and all the other goodies it offers, just wondering what people think. Guest
You could always buy a company that is up for sale. Just try not to buy one that has too huge a debt.

Elder
Is there a thread with companies for sale listed or is it all word of mouth? When you buy VIP, there's a page which lists all companies currently up for sale.

Guest
Sounds good, just picked up VIP - will have to wait and see if something good comes up for sale or if I want to take the risk and get my own going...
