Running an org is difficult. Let me walk you through a few things so maybe you can visualize it a bit.

 

1- When we don't respect inactivity days managers complain, they decline fights and then events take a hit both in Hype and financially as not all fights get filled.

 

2- In this case Wes (your alliance mate) came into the forums asking for another opponent. I obliged. Should I have checked with Humble? Yes I should have.. but I didn't think the need as you had a 21 day requested inactivity period in your contract. Had you removed that then yes 100% I would have contacted Humble to coordinate.

 

3- When I went to book the fight your inactivity delay said 21 days with a few days since your last fight. Yes, you are 100% correct you being the rightful challenger, but I took 2 things into consideration: a) your inactivity requests b - you being extremely under trained (you are either a slow learner or need a private/better gym). This is not jab at you, just my educated opinion. A white belt stands very little chance against a grappler like Wes. It's basically a free W for Wes.

 

So I looked at other possible opponents and there was a guy that did not request 21 days between his last fight and the next, was not injured and was much better trained/older so it made for a much closer fight. At the same time it gave you 2 weeks to better prepare for the title shot while respecting the 21 days you had asked in your contract.

 

Yes he was coming off a loss but the fight made much more sense skillwise.

 

So I booked it.

RISE 34 - Danton vs Orndorf Preview

Main Event

Georges Danton v Daniel Orndorf 205lb title

On to the Main event the 205lb Belt will be on the line as Orndorf looks to capitalize on his impressive 3 Fight KOTN win streak. Orndorf will be coming in very outmatched in every part of this fight except a small boxing advantage if he wants to last much longer than the first he will have to land crisp punches and score points. Danton comes into this fight a much heavily favored fighter, Danton is known to put on very good shows every fight he has been in gas ended in a KO win or lose. It’s pretty clear that Danton will have his way on his feet and end this fight rather quickly.


Co-Main Event
Samuel Gervais v Gregory Marks 155lb title

In the CO-Main Event Gervais looks to be defending his title once again in the 155lb division Against the sub specialist Marks. Marks comes in off a FOTN sub win, and in this fight, he will have to find someway to get another. Marks is outmatched in nearly every angle of this fight except for his BJJ, So its clear what his game plan will be but not clear how he will go about enforcing it. Gervais Will likely have his way in this fight as early and often as he’d like. He is unbeaten, and some would even say inhuman, Gervais is 7-0 with only 2 fights going longer than 1 minute of the first round. Gervais is a walking living Rise legend and my guess is he will only look to build on his legacy here.

Jean Luc Phaneuf v Henry Aron

In this last match before our title fights tonight Phaneuf will be looking to defend his unbeaten streak against a very capable Aron. Phaneuf is a Olympic level wrestler who has cross trained into boxing which helped has helped him out a lot in his current 3 fight Ko streak. Aron has his hands full in this fight he is currently on a 2 losing streak and is outmatched in the best aspect of his game and that is wrestling, but with that being said if this fight does make it to the ground his BJJ is slightly better and that can make a difference in any fight. Phaneuf Called out for a title fight in his last fight and did not receive it so what better way to leave no doubt than to take out a former champion himself. Phaneuf will have to be on his A game Aron will be trying to wrestle from the get go, so Jean will have to use his hands to keep him away and eventually try to Rock Aron.

Tim Slater v André 3000

In the 7th match of the night we have two fighters that could be battling for a possible shot at the title with a win here tonight. Andre is riding a pretty impressive 3 fight win streak where he has shown the ability to win by going the distance and winning in close matches or by showing KO power with a 1st round KO. Andre is a world class striker, and in this fight, he will need to land some early powerful blows if he wants to keep this battle from going to the ground. Slater has quite the opposite style of fighting, Slater loves the ground game and is one of the better wrestlers you find. Slater has a very dangerous submission game, but in this fight, he may be just looking to control him on the ground rather than to take a risky submission and lose control.

Prediction: Slater Decision


John Miller v David Kelly

In the 6th fight of the night we have a former belt holder looking to get back into contention for another title fight, against Kelly a young up and comer trying to make a name for himself in the division. Kelly is going to come out swinging as soon as this fight starts and he’s no stranger to first round KO’s. Miller will have a rough time in this match, his best bet may be for him to bring this fight in close and to try to control Kelly in the clinch and or wrestle his opponent to the ground from there, but he is a former title holder so you know he will bring his A game. This should be a very good bout and I expect to see a finish.

Prediction: Kelly Ko

Wale Ammond v Jackson Villa

Now we find ourselves halfway through this card, this will be another bout that is going to be fought mostly on the ground. Ammond is coming off a tough loss in a title fight after getting knocked out in the 4th round and this could be a very good fight to get momentum turned in his favor once again. This is a very tough fight to judge considering the strengths of each fighter, but one has to think that the experience and pedigree of Ammond should give him the edge. I predict that Ammond will get a pretty early takedowns and should control the fight in each round. If Villa stands any chance he will have to catch a lucky submission or hope to sweep guard.

Prediction: Ammond Decision

Ricardo Oliveira v Roadman Shaq

Rolling into the 4th matchup of the night we have a contest between a pure wrestler vs a BJJ specialist. In this matchup we have a fight that will be clearly going to the ground very quickly considering neither fighter likes to stand. Oliveira, in my opinion will have a clear advantage in this fight as A bjj fighter he is most comfortable on his back with his opponent in guard and that’s exactly where shaq will probably put him. However, Shaq can make this a fight if he is able to make quick work and move through his opponent guard or land a takedown into side control. Shaq will have to be very careful or this fight will not be going on very long

Prediction: Oliveira Submission

Ion Pascu v Mungo Jerry

On to the third fight of the night, we have a battle between two 3-1 opponents looking to turn some heads with a big win! In this battle we have two fighters who love to throw hands and this fight may be no different, unless Pascu plays this smart. Pascu will be able to stand with jerry however he may come out on the losing side of things, so he will want to use his wrestling to score some points, from there Pascu can use his BJJ to submit or move into a superior position to end this fight. It is pretty clear that Jerry will want to keep this fight from going to the ground, so he will need to do his best to keep his distance with kicks and strikes and outmatch his opponent on the feet but it could be a challenge. Both fighters have shown Ko power and we could have some fireworks in this matchup and the winner will be putting all other fighters on notice.

Prediction: Pascu Submission

Goreshade King v Pedro Changggg

Moving onto the second fight of the night we have a fight between two combatants trying to turn their careers around and make a name for themselves in the 155lb division. Chang has a little more experience as a fighter which could play a factor, he is clearly the type of fighter that likes to keep things standing however that could prove difficult with his feeble wrestling. King has only 3 fights under his belt and at the age of 27 he is ready to turn his career around for the better and in this fight he has a very good chance to do just that. King has a strong wrestling game which he will need to use early and often in this fight considering he stands 0 chance on his feet. This will be a tough one to call with it being so close.

Prediction: King Via decision

Wade Rogers v Facundo Galley

In the opening battle of the night we have what looks to be a budding young star in Galley trying to continue his tear through 170lb division. However, his run through the division will be met by a journeyman of this 170lb division in rogers who will not make this an easy fight. Galley is the clear favorite in this match up having won his last three fights all by first round Knock outs he is a 20 year old with proven ko power. Galley does though have one blaring weakness that Rodgers could really take advantage of and that is his wrestling and BJJ. If Rogers can somehow manage to get an early takedown, he should be able to get an easy win either way this fight will be over round 1.

Prediction: Galley round 1

When it comes to building legends the now Nine Musketeers and manager Northern Ninjas do not fuck around. This was fully on display during the battle of The Gentlemen. Samuel " The Gentleman" Gervais took quick care of decorated grappler " The Gentleman" Gregory Marks.

Review of Rise 34 – Danton vs. Orndorf

Ricky Warner: Hello, and welcome to the show. Tonight, I will be giving a review of the recently held event over at RISE, RISE 34 – Danton vs. Orndorf.

The card opened up with a Welterweight bout between Facundo Galley and Wade Rogers

 

170lbs

Facundo Galley (5-2) vs. Wade Rogers (4-5)

Galley recently changed management but was already well established as a heavy-handed striker, having demolished his way through the division. Rogers, on the other hand was desperately seeking another win just to bring him to an even record. It was not to be tonight though as the wrecking machine that is Facundo blew right through him. Despite being taken down early in the round the fight got stood back up and when it did Galley went to work in the clinch to dismantle Rogers.

 

155lbs

Pedro Changggg (2-4) vs. Goreshade King (1-1-1)

Into the lightweight division next for one of the ubiquitous clones of Pedro Chang. This one was Changggg. While sporting a dismal record of 2-4 Changggg seems irrepressible. He is a solid striker while his opponent is more a wrestler with a roughly even spread of skills throughout. Both of these men needed wins tonight to even pretend to be relevant in the division. Obviously, only one could get that win and it was Pedro Changggg that pulled out an extremely lopsided unanimous decision win. 30-24!?! Has anyone ever seen a more one-sided beatdown?

Ion Pascu (3-1) vs. Mungo Jerry (2-2)

“Bombardierul” continues his progress towards title contention in the middleweight division with his third round KO of the heavy-handed Jerry. Despite scoring takedowns seemingly at will, Pascu was unable to secure a submission despite 25 attempts. It was in the clinch that he was able to do the damage and score the KO. Jerry needs to focus his skills a bit more if he is to make a mark in this division.

 

155lbs

Ricardo Oliviera (1-1) vs. Roadman Shaq (2-1)

Generalist, Ricardo Oliviera took on wrestler Roadman Shaq. On paper it looked as though Shaq should easily score the takedowns and win this fight on the ground. However, that is not exactly how this fight played out. Despite scoring two takedowns and landing an impressive 33 of 33 strikes on the ground, Shaq just could not put Oliviera away which allowed him to eventually score a submission win. Methinks Shaq could use some more time at the gym on the weight benches.

 

155lbs

Wale Ammond (7-3) vs. Jackson Villa (3-2)

In yet more lightweight action Wale Ammond took on Jackson Villa. In this battle of BJJ purple belts it came as no surprise that the fight went to the ground. With Villa’s negligible skills in any other area it also comes as no surprise that he came up with naught when it did. Ammond was able to consistently outwork Villa on the ground, and while he was unable to secure any of the 16 submissions he attempted he was able to completely dominate Villa and walks away with another victory.

 

185lbs

David Kelly (1-1) vs. John Miller (3-1)

Back up to middleweight for the first of the main card events as David Kelly, a wonderful boxer, took on John Miller, an all-rounder. The fight was brief as Miller attempted repeatedly to get into the clinch with Kelly. Kelly worked his counterstriking and kept his distance. Eventually, and by eventually, I mean within 40 seconds, it resulted in Kelly scoring the TKO victory. Miller, despite his greater experience was simply no match for Kelly.

 

145lbs

Tim Slater (4-1) vs. Andŕe 3000 (3-1)

“Crazy” Tim Slater has been making his presence felt in this division for some time now. He took on Andŕe 3000 in this extremely dull featherweight fight. Both these men are managed by top notch management teams and so it comes down to that skill in putting together the fight plan that would bring victory and Slater is a ground fighter and 3000 is not. Tonight, it was Slater who came out on top with a one-sided decision win. Despite noble efforts on the part of Andŕe 3000, he just wasn’t able to completely shut down the offense of Slater and found himself continuously on his back. To his credit though he was able to avoid the 5 sub attempts and all the ground strikes as well. All of this added up to one huge snore fest win for Slater.

 

205lbs

Henry “Hank” Aron (8-2) vs. Jean-Luc Phaneuf (5-0)

The former RISE Light-Heavyweight champion was coming off two consecutive losses coming into this fight. He faced who many considered to be the number one contender for the title, Jean-Luc Phaneuf. Aron has ground his way to victory many times in the cage only losing to Wes Ray and then Daniel Orndorf. But now he faced who many considered to be one of the best fighters in the division. The only person, so far, to have beaten Daniel Orndorf and a man poised to be the next champion. But instead, Hank Aron went to work to reestablish himself in the dominant position on the division. He was able to secure the takedown and work Phaneuf over with some brutal ground and pound. It is unclear at this point if the win makes him number one contender again or not, but he is surely sending a message that he is not done, and he wants his belt back.

 

The Co-Main Event

For the 155lbs Title

Samuel Gervais (7-0) vs. Gregory Marks (6-3)

Samuel Gervais was set to defend his title for the second time tonight against rising star Gregory Marks. Marks has had a spotty record leading up to the championship but he beat Niudu Kakka to earn the shot and his star rapidly began to decent tonight after the champion showed why his has that belt in the first place. Gervais immediately stuffed a predictable takedown attempt by Marks and countered with a jab to get the challenger’s attention. Gervais continued to put on a kickboxing clinic; changing levels and striking with both hands and feet. Marks had no answer and just did the one thing he knew how to do. The one thing he needed to have happen. He shot for and was denied both his takedown attempts and got pummeled as a result. It took the champ only 1:30 seconds to put an end to Marks’ dreams of championship glory. One massive punch and out go the lights.

 

The Main Event

For the 205lbs Title

Georges Danton (5-1) vs. Daniel Orndorf (5-1)

The light-heavyweight title was on the line tonight in the main event as Daniel Orndorf challenged the champion Georges Danton. There was some controversy leading up to this fight as many thought that first Jean-Luc Phaneuf and then Daniel Orndorf would have had a crack at the title before Danton was even a part of this organization. But the management gave Danton, who had never fought for the org before and was coming off a loss the shot ahead of number one contender, Daniel Orndorf. None of that matters anymore now, as Daniel Orndorf and Georges Danton clashed in the center of the cage. Orndorf dropped Danton early with a surprise head kick. But then Danton took the fight into the clinch, presumably to neutralize Orndorf’s formidable striking and KO power. It turned out that Orndorf was more effective in the clinch then Danton had suspected as Orndorf out performed him in all aspects of the clinch. The second round (only the second time in Orndorf’s career of even seeing a second round), Orndorf put on a boxing clinic as he dismantled Danton and put him away at the 1:56 mark of the second round as Danton tapped out to the beating he was receiving. Orndorf becomes the new RISE Light-Heavyweight Champion of the world!

Orndorf fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Danton to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Danton looks to clinch but Orndorf throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Danton taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!

Thank you Mr. Camara. I know that a lot of people thought I was an huge underdog in this fight, but I proved them all wrong. I was better in the clinch, better on the feet and speaking of feet, did you notice that head kick that hurt Danton early? I think I pulled a muscle throwing that one though, so it might be awhile before I try that again.

Yeah great win indeed. Danton sent Wes Ray to welfare with a Superman Punch KO and had only lost to Jonny Lodden (8-2) whose manager went missing back in April.

I sent this 3 days ago, Anthony's manager has been seen around in the past 24 hours. I sent him a message, his face looks familiar, must be a regular. I'm sure he will see the message before fight day. I can totally understand not accepting a fight less than a week in though so no judgement.
