IvanLoneWolf
In your opinion. do you think that Islam Makhachev would be more accomplished and famous in an alternative universe where Khabib was never born? It would be interesting to see him fighting Kron Gracie, despite the difference in weight class Fun fact: Kron used to compete in ADCC under 77kg and 82kg category, while Islam won the combat sambo world championship at -74kg. 10thPlanetKT
I think Kron subs him easily. Islam would stand and bang with Kron and knock him out if Kron can't pull guard though because Islam has way more power than Khabib so he is the more versatile fighter. He did show a solid defensive grappling against Davi Ramos who is ADCC 2015 champion and 3rd degree bjj black belt, but then again Davi may be a little bit rocked when they were on the ground. Most sambo fighters can grapple but they just prefer mixing up ground and pound with submission.
10thPlanetKT
It is just that Islam would do the same thing because Kron is a Gracie jiu jitsu black belt. He is in a grappling class of his own, a scodsh higher than Islam.
stpierrecanada
Islam is a beast. 6 fight win streak I expect him to fight a top dog next.
Guest
Kron won't be able to take Islam to the ground.Islam would beat up Kron in the standupDecision win

Islam would beat up Kron in the standup Decision win Idk why, but I imagine Kron would just pull guard, and Islam would be like "Eh.........okay." and proceed to beat him via ground and pound.

Yeah that's kind of what I was thinking. I think Islam beats Kron just about anywhere in an MMA fight.
10thPlanetKT
Really? I would understand if y'all said Khabib but not Islam. KOron is a grace Jiu Jitsu black belt. I see Islam using his escapes and counter punching to knock him out.
Mannetosen
Islam has better wrestling in open space than Khabib, and better striking. His cage wrestling and matwork is worse though.I rate Islam very highly tbh, but I doubt he'd follow Kron to the ground unless he dropped him first (like he did with Ramos iirc). Even if he did he could still win, it's hard to use jiujitsu against someone who's sitting on your legs and bashing your face in up against the fence. Its hard to use jiu jitsu against an excellent wrestler with sufficient submission knowledge. You often see that many Judoka and former college wrestler (wiho learn bjj for few months to one year) are able to tap more experienced grapplers. Or just successfully smother them like a wet blanket.

Wrestling and judo are also grappling arts, albeit with different areas of focus.
