CWC 290 - Rio de Janeiro
Heavyweights:
Leandro Lo (14-15) vs Rich Silva Jr (15-8)
The former CWC Heavyweight Champion Rich Silva faces off against Leandro Lo for the third time in their careers, with Lo getting the better of Silva in both matches. After winning the Heavyweight title Silva has been on a two fight losing streak to two top contenders with Lo on a firey four fight winning streak looking to make his claim that he is the #1 contender in the heavyweight division. This would be a huge win for either man, and its sure to be an entertaining match.
-
(Co-Main)Middleweights:
Judas Priest (28-18) vs Eduardo Vieira (13-7)
This is a very interesting matchup that I am personally excited for, Judas Priest after capturing the Middleweight title after a long journey in CWC lost it to the grappling legend Shane MacGowan in his last hour and first defense in a hard loss for him. With on the other side Vieira challenged for the title after beating two Hall Of Famers in Claudio Ty and Vito Mazzini and came up short to the champion at the time Mike Schultz. He is on a two fight win streak with one of them against a former champion and hall of famer Declan. A win for either of these men would catapult them back into the title picture and we won’t see any quit in these guys for that goal.
-
(Main Event)Welterweight Championship:
Vulcahn Dravezesdi (38-25) vs Ibbe Ribbler (45-12)
A matchup that will definitely go down in CWC history. The fourth time these men will meet in the ring with Ibbe defeating him twice before their last matchup. Vulcahn unhanded the P4P #1 grappler in the world Ibbe Ribbler of his ranking and championship in a shocking upset in their previous bout at 289, it was only right they run it back right away as Ibbe Ribbler was on the most dominant run we’ve seen inside the company. Will Ibbe reclaim his throne and title, or will Vulcahn show he is the new king in the division and he is here to stay? Find out at CWC 290.

CWC 290 - Hilo
Batamweights:
Shanti Anatta (25-25) vs Malaki Fiso (15-13)
Two guys with something to prove trying to once again reach the top of the batamweight division. The former champion Anatta takes on Fiso the one time title challenger to move up the next step of the ladder. Both elite grapplers and there’s a chance you could see either of these men hoisting a CWC belt soon.
-
(Co-Main)Middleweights:
Mike Schultz (39-30) vs Kurt Diesel (17-15)
This is a trilogy fight with both men tied a win. Two guys at the top of the ladder in the 185 division. Mike Schultz is a grappling veteran, has been with the promotion since CWC 11. He was recently on an explosive 6 fight win streak where he finally captured the championship and defended once. Diesel is no pushover though, scoring wins over handful of top guys and challenging for the title once and a win for either of these guys would be a big statement in itself.
-
(Main Event)Featherweights:
Ishiihara Sakuraba (27-22) vs Julio Valeron Huhrera (10-6)
For the main event of 290 Hilo we have two of our best featherweights facing off in their trilogy fight tied 1-1. Julio made his return to CWC not too long ago at 288, despite his record not having too many fights he debuted at CWC 20 and was a top 3 guy in the division in that era looking to return to that pedigree. Sakuraba is at the top of his game coming off a big win and looking to prove dominance in this matchup. With the 145 champion still busy, all the guys in the division are trying to prove their case for a title shot for his return. This is sure to be a great match.
—————
CWC 290 - Montreal
Openweight Championship:
Dragan Hozdic (35-8) vs Bart Cubbedge (14-13)
The return of the openweight division and the first title defense with the new concept is here, Dragan a heavyweight and the current openweight champion’s last defense of the title was at 263. Returning the division with his first defense against Cubbedge a 155 fighter on a dominant 5 fight win streak picking up wins over former champions. There is a very sizable height and weight difference, we will probably see that play some factor. But this is sure to be a crazy matchup and the first in awhile of many openweight matches to come!
-
(Co-Main)Middleweight Championship:
Shane MacGowan (38-10) vs Alexey Andreev (8-5)
A great co-main event in Montreal as the legendary Shane MacGowan looks to make his first defense of his newly regained Middleweight title. Andreev has never been on a stage of this caliber against an opponent like MacGowan, but has beaten some good contenders in the division. MacGowan currently on a four fight win streak looking to keep his momentum going after picking up a big win to tie their series 1-1 against Judas Priest. Would be a big upset if Andreev beat “The Pogue” and won the Middleweight strap.
-
(Main Event)Batamweights:
David Morrison Jr (57-23) vs Tobias Pancake (40-37)
Two grappling legends look to face off for their trilogy to decide who will win take the lead in their 1-1 series, and the #1 contendership to the 135 strap who will get a title shot this month. Both of these guys would kill for this win, as it puts them in the perfect spot to be. Morrison Jr the former 135 champion, takes on another legend in Pancake who has never held CWC gold before. A deserving main event for two superstars, who will get the shot at the belt?
———————
CWC 290 - Tokyo
Middleweights:
Ruben Gracie (9-12) vs Bill Newton (3-1)
A matchup of two great grapplers in Newton and Gracie, Newton recently debuting and on a 3 fight win streak looking to keep up his momentum in this matchup but on the other spectrum Gracie is looking to score a big win against an up and comer being on a two fight losing streak. Both guys looking to find their way to greatness in the company.
-
(Co-Main)Featherweights:
Reijo Halli (15-9) vs Marcinho Sitsongrit (20-10)
A meaningful matchup here in the featherweight division with the former champion Halli after a big win over David Morrison taking on a top contender in Sitsongrit who was just on a firey 4 fight winstreak before his loss to the great Matvey Pavlov. In their previous matchup at 288 Sitsongrit scored the win by decision. This matchup will shoot the winner into a high ranking spot in the division.
-
(Main Event)Light Heavyweights:
Conald Peterson (22-12) vs Dido Vicini (55-30)
The main event tonight holds two of the divisions greatest, Conald Peterson just coming off a loss to the champion Tyrano Jackson facing off against the former multi time champion and Hall of Famer Dido Vicini who took a loss to Peterson by decision in their matchup at 286 recently adding to his 4 fight losing streak he is looking to come back from in a big way to show he still has it and can beat top guys in the division at age 46. The younger Peterson looks to add another notch to his belt to work his way back to another title shot here. A win for either of these guys in this matchup does immense things, which a loss would be detrimental to where these guys wanna be in the rankings and title race.
-
That will wrap up the CWC 290 previews, we hope the events bring great entertainment to the CWC fans and we wish all managers the best of luck! We will catch you at the end of the week with the recaps and rankings!

"Montana Mountain Man" Ernie Tertelgte

Taking a break from his sovereign citizen crusade, the "Montana Mountain Man" Ernie Tertelgte spoke to media ahead of his first CWC matchup. Crazy Horse Media pressed him on his expectations and intentions.

"I just want to get hot and sweaty, man. I'm an old man now and I've had a fun MMA career, but I want to try something new. I'm a coach these days at House of 1000 Corpses in Tokyo, but I gotta keep that competitive flame burning. I don't expect to dominate or anything because I am new to grapple competitions, but this gives me an opportunity to roll around on the weekends and get paid."

Although very recently perhaps not considered an elite wrestler at the top of the world anymore, Tertelgte is still considered a very high level. When prompted about his distinct lack of submission wins in his MMA career and the presence of 3 submission losses, Tertelgte pointed out that he was still a black belt in BJJ and perhaps unlike a lot of his MMA contemporaries, actually had some submission skills and knowledge rather than purely defensive skillsets.

"I had heavy hands man, I liked to stand and bang but I'd never say no to choking a fella out. The folks at Stepping Stone Grappling cut me after evaluations, because they said I was beyond their scope and I should join CWC proper. So here I am. People might have doubts on my grappling ability, but they didn't."

It remains to be seen if Tertelgte truly belongs against the other grappling killers within the 145lb CWC division. He takes on Dragon Li Chai on the 26/6 during the CWC 310 - Prelims.

"Montana Mountain Man" Ernie Tertelgte

"Jack McScramble, you ABSOLUTELY SUCK. Wake up sleepy head and accept our damn match pronto! Don't be afraid to get hot and sweaty with me. I may have lost my first grappling match on some stupid technicality, but I'll put you to sleep for real!

On that note, imagine awarding a tiebreak win to someone who attempted and FAILED more submissions. Wrapping your arms around me and giving me a hug isn't a real submission attempt. You're lucky you were even tied on points with me, because they kept giving you points for advancing position after I'd fought back to get into a better position. If I was just like you and laid still while I swept you and then took your back, you would have capped out with no points and still wouldn't have been able to finish me with your lame attempts. You played some lame games and got rewarded for it Dragon Li Chai. I'm going to dominate you next time."

Paddy "360°" Mcgillicutty
1-0-0 (Grappling)

Decided to make my debut in grappling and made short work of my opponent.
Good day at the office!

Mcgillicutty is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Jan's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Mcgillicutty tries to get to full guard but Jan has control of the leg.

Mcgillicutty is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Jan is tapping! Great win for Mcgillicutty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Paddy Mcgillicutty!
In his post fight interview, Paddy Mcgillicutty started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
