BIG WAVE MMA 6: Preview

The 4th of July weekend in Hilo is a time you will see tourists traveling checking out Pearl Harbor but also across all the islands you will be catching luaus and pits dug with whole pigs wrapped in banana leaves, buried and smoked to perfection for some of the best Hawaiian BBQ you will ever have in your life. But that's not all that will be happening that weekend you will also be able to go to Paddy O'Malley's Bar on July 2nd to see some fights as Big Wave MMA will be putting on another show. It seems like they are making that place their current home as of late.

The first fight of the evening is a 155 pound fight between Jacob Handler and Pluot Montero. Both of these fighters are 18 years old. Jacob Handler he is 1-0 and among the trend in recent MMA years of wrestler turned striker. Pluot Montero is making his debute and is also a young talented wrestler and has taken the old school approach of wrestler who learns to grapple making the ground their home. Who can impose their wrestling to use their style is the question that begs an answer in this one.

The second fight on the card is a 205 pound fight between Orvar Odd Lodinkinni and Matos Yury. Both of these fighters have made there mark on the Big Wave stage already. Orvar an 18 year old known for his wrestling and boxing combination. Uses the wrestling to keep it standing and his fluid boxing to pick guys apart on the feet. Matos 22 year old known for his kickboxing that drops his opponents and then puts his bjj skills to work to submit his opponents.

The Co-Main event is a 265 pound fight between Kevin Taylor and Lorde Mannion. Kevin is 18 years old 1-0 in MMA and no stranger in the cage of Big Wave with his first round submission victory over Major Payne. Lorde is also 18 years old and 1-0 in MMA but will be making his Big Wave debute. Kevin is well rounded as he has the striking that can match up to just about anyone in the division and BJJ that has shown to be legit and tested already. Lorde is also a mix bag MMA fighter as he is a boxer, wrestler, and BJJ practitioner. But don't go sleeping on him because he is a boxer as he won his first fight by head kick.

The Main Event is between Kalliyan Dith and Olan Zapina at 155 pounds. Both fighters are 25 years old. Kalliyan is a wrestler and Muay Thai fighter from the regional circuit amassing a 5-0 MMA record and making his Big Wave debute. You name it when it comes striking he has won by it knockout, cuts, and making his opponent tap from strikes. Olan is 3-0 in MMA and no stranger to Big Wave by quickly winning his Big Wave fight by cutting his opponent up and also has made an opponent tap from strikes. This is not only the main event but should one of the bloodiest battles of the year between two Muay Thai wizards.

Loving the poster, as right now I'm wanting to go with that new upstart vibe like even posting that people are seeing pamphlets and fliers in small shops and it totally captures that small business vibe. Totally not a diss. You are capturing the vibe perfectly, it's neat and clean and exactly what you would you expect to see in a town from a fighting org that is small and starting out on business walls. Rocked it!

BWMMA 6 Review: Pluot Montero vs Jacob Handler was the first fight on the card and the one to set the tone with the fans in the bar. These fans could have been at a Poison concert in the 80s and still been upset. Montero took the fight down a couple times in the first round and towards the end decided to get up and got a bit touched up when he did. Bell sounds for the second round and Handler picked right back up knocked him out cold in just 36 seconds. Your winner by KO Jacob Handler!!!

Orvar Odd Lodinkinni vs Matos Yury was the second fight of the evening and opened up with Lodinkinni touching him up a bit with Yury trying to clinch. Finally Yury gets his wish and gets the clinch and then it all went horribly wrong. As soon as it went to the clinch there so many fists and elbows flying from Lodinkinni that I'm sure I didn't even count them all before Yury dropped and tried to get back up to only fall back to his knees and the ref jumped in screaming no Joy. Your winner by TKO Orvar Odd Lodinkinni!!!

Co-Main event saw Kevin Taylor and Lorde Mannion taking the fight all the way to decision. The fight basically saw Taylor just scoring points by way of control of clinching breaking and taking down Mannion and getting up to repeat. The fans weren't happy and I can't blame them on this one. Your winner by unanimous decision Kevin Taylor!!!

Main-event of the evening saw the king of the region circuit Kalliyan Dith make he Big Wave debute against the 155er who made a big impact in the finale event for the big man tournament Olan Zapina. There was more elbows and blood streaming from these two fighters than a drunken fight at a Superbowl party over the last hotwing. Your winner by TKO due to cuts and doctor stoppage Olan Zapina!!! I can't say this for sure only the brass of Big Wave knows but word is what's next for Zapina is a title fight for the first 155 champion.

BWMMA 7 Preview:

Just a week after BWMMA 6, Big Wave is back at what seems to be the current favorite destination of this Hilo based organization as they are again at Paddy O'Malley's Bar. So book a trip to Hilo for July 9th for this 4 fight event.

First fight on the card is a 265 pound fight between Pellinore Listenoise vs Bon Gamin. Listenoise is a Muay Thai specialist, 25 years old and 1-0. Gamin a boxing specialist, 23 years old and 2-1. Both will be making their Big Wave debute and we welcome them both. Two heavyweight strikers going at it to start the night off with us a good move Big Wave. If this doesn't get the crowd excited nothing will.

Second fight on the card is between Kari Parisyen and Brenin Arthur. This a 205 pound fight between two 25 year olds. Both making their Big Wave debute. Kari Parisyen is 1-1 and is a boxer and wrestler typically these fighters have a brawler style but with a set of golden gloves we shall see if has some footwork and technical boxing skills as well. Brenin Arthur is 1-0 and is a pure grappler who is a brown belt in both BJJ and judo. So he has a wide variety of takedowns in his bag of tricks to choose from.

The Co-Main event of the evening will be a 265 pound fight between Wilt Madison and Valja Se Po Podu. Madison is looking for redemption after not making weight for the second round of the Big Man Tournament. Everyone knows he has the striking skills to match up with anyone. Podu will be making his Big Wave debute and is a pure grappler for another striker vs grappler match up. Will Madison redeem himself or will the newcomer Podu make a name for himself in the division?

The main event is between 2 185ers who started their careers inside the cages of Big Wave. Olly Holy and Marcus Greene. Holy is 19 and 1-0 a BJJ brown belt who has been working tirelessly on improving his mma game. Greene is 18 and 1-0 a talented boxer and been working on his takedown defense to be able to keep the fight in his domain. This will be a good fight to see who gets put in line for the title.

Ikki Takeda: This is your captain speaking. Just kidding always wanted to say that, but this is the owner of Big Wave and if the preview feels a bit lacking I wrote all of it but the main event on my phone and then the page closed on me and when I reopened it sometimes saves what I wrote, but it didn't this time. So had to write it a second time from scratch.

Hello there Big Wave, I've been watching the great work you guys have been doing in Hilo.

If there's any way I could help you, let me know. I'm a new player willing to learn more about the game, specially about the ORGs and how they work and I'd love to do so here, helping you guys with some writing if needed, or with the recruiting feature.

Let me know!

Pretty filled up. Have 2 recruiters, a poster maker, and not one to brag but I'm one of the better writers, so we are covered there. But appreciate you checking.

Big Wave 7 Review:

Ladies and gentlemen did I tell you or did I tell you that it was a stroke of genius for Big Wave to start it off with two heavyweight strikers to get the fans in their feet with cheers? Well it certainly worked being one of two fights of the night where every fan in attendance was cheering. In the fight of Bon Gamin vs Pellinore Listenoise the bell sounded Gamin goes in for a hook and Listenoise ducks under showing some real skill in his defensive skills there. Listenoise fires with a combination but was no where close. Then he shoots in for a takedown and gets him down but Gamin immediately pops up. Look over at the judges and no marks on it they must have missed it. Gamin lands a punch and finally we have contact. Oh what a vicious shit as he cut Listenoise with it. Gamin hits Listenoise with a hook and it sends him straight to the ground. Gamin is darting in to go to the ground but Listenoise smiles at him and Gamin backs off and waves him to the feet. Not sure if that was a good fluke by Listenoise there or a smart decision and getting to hyped up in the moment by Gamin. Gamin is stalking Listenoise and Listenoise is circling to his left towards Gamin's power hand and he's loading up. Listenoise circles to his left some more and Gamin swings with his right and this one is AAALLLL OVVVERRR! Gamin wins by KO!!!

Brenin Arthur and Kari Parisyen are set to follow that action. Bell rings and bam Parisyen wastes no time landing a cross. Arthur takes advantage of them being in close and lands a takedown. Arthur missing with some ground and pound while in guard. He slips a leg and advances to half guard. Arthur misses some more ground and pound. Arthur goes for a submission but nice job by Parisyen on defending it. Finally Arthur lands something with his ground and pound attempts. Arthur passes half guard to full mount. Whhhhaaatt!? Arthur is still missing in full mount with ground and pound. Arthur looks to be going for an arm triangle. Oh he repositions and turns it into an anaconda choke. Oh it's in deep. Parisyen is starting to change colors. He's still not tapping. He's going limp, he's out he's out! Ref rushes I throwing Arthur off Parisyen and starting procedures making sure Parisyen is ok. The winner by submission Arthur!!!

The Co-Main event Wilt Madison and Valja Se Po Podu is up. The bell rings and immediately Madison moves this fight into the clinch and lands an uppercut. That uppercut definitely done some damage Podu is cut. Madison breaks the clinch. As Madison is stepping back after breaking the clinch Podu dashes in for a takedown and lands it. Podu unable to pass guard. He stands up and throws Madison's legs to the side to pass to side control but Madison swivels and maintains guard. Great job there. Podu pushes down on Madison's leg and passes to half guard. Wow and then immediately passes to full mount. Podu is working on an arm triangle here. He's moved into side control for a tighter squeeze and given up a better position though. Hopefully it pays off. Madison seems to be defending this perfectly. And Madison just went out. That must be a very tight squeeze Podu has as it was being defended well to put him out like that. Nicely done. Your winner by submission Podu!!! What? I've been saying it wrong? It's Po Podu? My apologies you winner by submission Po Podu!!!

The Main Event is Olly Holy and Marcus Greene. The bell rings and Holy tries to clinch but Greene circles. Holy tries again and get the fight in the clinch. Holy immediately jumps guard where he has the advantage. Holy throws his legs up and looks like he is going for a triangle choke but Greene sees it coming and goes to defend it. Ohhhh but wait Holy transitions the triangle to an armbar as Greene goes to defend nicely done there and textbook BJJ. Greene is furiously tapping. This one is over. Your winner by submission Olly Holy!!!

BWMMA 8 135 Tourny Preview:

On July 16th Big Wave goes back to Paddy O'Malley's Bar. This promises to be one of their biggest cards yet and I'm just talking about the number fights scheduled but the action and talent involved. As far as the contestants involved Ikki Takeda went over the hundreds of possible fighter files that came across his desk and scouted them.

First fight of the evening is between Diego Lacasa and Zafir Farman. Lacasa is 18 years old and a boxer with a tad bit of natural wrestling that he picked up fighting in the streets back in Mexico. Ikki Takeda when he went to go watch one of his kickboxing matches he had this to say "He has some solid boxing and does a lot of trash talking while fighting that reminds you a bit of the Diaz brothers. Should be able to sell tickets." Farman is 18 years old and a Muay Thai expert with a bit of wrestling acumen from years of playing around in the clinch. A pretty thin file on the guy from Saudi Arabia other than he is sometimes referred to as The Mystic. Ikki Takeda when he went to go watch one of his fights had this to say, "He is a pretty weird guy he was burning some type of incense smacking his body with it and the fight started and ended in a bloody mess quickly in which he went over took the guy's blood and went over his chest with it. Don't care much for antics but the guy definitely has talent."

The second fight on the card is between Filip Yumashev and Detritus Rubble. Yumashev is 18 years old and is a Muay Thai fighter and a wrestler. He is from Russia. Russia has been talking about having a 135 pound fighter for the last couple years that would be hitting the scene soon. Ikki Takeda went to go see Yumashev and had this to say "I'm not completely sure if this is the guy they have been talking about but he has some talent and strong work ethic. I watched him in the gym for 3 hours before stopping and the coaches said that was just one of his sessions. Definitely expect to see him grow throughout the competition." Rubble is a 18 year old fighter right out of the United States. He was on both his high school boxing and high school wrestling team. Ikki Takeda went to both his wrestling practice and his boxing practice and had this to say, "Rubble has some skills despite his school's record and said he needs better coaches is the problem and advised him to go to Gonzasco Hydropathy to get better." Just days before the final selection of fighters Ikki got a call from Gonzasco Hydropathy telling him Rubble is ready for the tournament.

Third fight of the evening is between Joseph Kuruvila and Hiroshi Gomi. Kuruvila is an 18 year old fighter who grew up in Australia but one of his parents was from India. He learned to speak Desi. He has a Muay Thai style. Ikki Takeda comment when visiting was "Raw Muay Thai talent. If he can focus on fighting he could be great." Gomi is an 18 year old fighter from Japan. One of the fighters that was so skilled he actually had a gym from over seas offer to train him. Very talented boxer. Ikki Takeda got a call from Dillo's Dojo that he needed to come to Montreal and check this kid out. Ikki Takeda told the gym "You are definitely right he has great technique and a lot of boxing talent but get him some takedown defense and I'll definitely add him to the tournament."

The fourth fight and last fight of the prelims is between World Peace and Ryan Steinbeck. Peace is an 18 year old BJJ practitioner who has been working on his wrestling and striking to round out his game. He is from Brazil and known for over working. Ikki Takeda watched him compete in a grappling tournament and looked sluggish and unimpressed he was stopped by Peace's coaches and asked to come watch him at the gym the next day and he looked brilliant. Ikki had this to say "He definitely has some solid skills. And looking forward to seeing what he can do in our cages. I'm a bit concerned that he isn't going to rest and show up for the fight half dead though." Steinbeck is an 18 year old from the United States as one of the most well rounded fighters. He has striking, wrestling, and bjj. Ikki Takeda watched his last amateur MMA bout and had this to say "I was actually there to watch the other guy but Steinbeck has a knack for this when he was in trouble on the feet he took the fight to the ground and when he started to get in trouble there it went back to the feet and was able to keep his opponent off balance and stay uncomfortable. Really reminded me of Rory McDonald."

The first fight of the main card is between Alois Huallpa Rimachi and Will Ong. Rimachi is an 18 year old fighter from Peru who is fighting out of Japan. He is a Muay Thai and wrestling style fighter. Ikki Takeda after his visit had this to say, "Kid has some real skills, but I question his dedication as a fighter. This tournament should bring out rather he has what it takes to devote himself either way it goes." Ong is an 18 year old fighter from the Philippines fighting out of Montreal. He is a wrestler and has picked up some BJJ to go along with it. Ikki Takeda saw his last amateur match and had this to say, "He took the fight to the ground immediately and once the fight was there he showed real skill tapping his opponent out quickly. Should be a great addition."

The next fight on the card is between Abasi Njagi and Naoya Inoue. Njagi is an 18 year old BJJ practitioner coming in with a brown belt. Has been working on his wrestling to help utilize that bjj of his and a bit on his striking defense. He is from Kenya and one of the few fighters coming in with a professional record at 1-0. Ikki Takeda went to his professional fight on the regional scene over in Tokyo and had this to say, "Wow I'm really impressed that was some quick textbook bjj, this kid is definitely in." Inoue is an 18 year old Muay Thai fighter who is also one of the few that has a professional record. He is from Japan and also posts a 1-0 record. Ikki was at his professional fight on the regional circuit in Hilo and had this to say, "That was so quick in just 30 seconds that punch knocked him out cold. It's rare to see a 135er with that kind of power. He's in."

The next fight on the card is between Shawn Harper and Douche T McBaggins. Harper is 18 years old and was a high school state champion wrestler in Hawaii. As of the last few years we have been seeing quite a few good wrestlers coming out of Hawaii. Ikki Takeda had this to say, "He's right here out of home in Hilo. Been to a few of his wrestling matches and I think he has some decent potential and had him sign up with a gym I own." McBaggins is a Muay Thai fighter and a wrestler. He is 18 from Ireland and is known for two things being a pugilist and a drunkard. Ikki Takeda went to take a look at him and he missed his fight passed out drunk. He was going to get back on a plane and leave Ireland but someone from McBaggins gym recognized him and didn't want him to miss his chance and showed him footage of a couple of his fights. Ikki had this to say, "Too many would be fighters have ruined themselves to the bottle and he needs to get that under control unless he wants to turn into the next washed up "Just let me bang bro" Julian Lane. He gets sober and I think he could be something special so I'm going to give him a chance and a break."

The Co-Main event of the evening and final fight of the tournament contestants is between Joao Gonsalves and Otar Arkady. Gonsalves is a kickboxer and BJJ practitioner. He is 18 years old and from the United States. He comes in with a lot of hype and popularity behind him. This probably stems from him boasting the best amateur record of the bunch 4-0 in amateur kickboxing and 7-0 in amateur MMA. After meeting Gonsalves Ikki had this to say, "The kid has talent and does a good job of dropping guys and finishing them with his bjj. I hear he may be over training in preparation for this tournament and he needs to take a bit of time to rest." Arkady is 18 years old from Georgia and has some of the nicest boxing skills we have seen in a while. Gearing up for the tournament he moved to Montreal to train and get prepared for MMA. Since moving they have been working on his takedown defense and bjj. Ikki went out to take a peek before making his decision on Arkady and had this to say, "Arkady looks amazing on the feet and if he either work on his takedown defense to stop people from being able to take him down or put the same dedication into grappling as he has his boxing he is going to be one hell of a fighter."

The Main Event event is between two 26 year old heavyweights who were both in the heavyweight tournament at Big Wave. Enrico Fermi and Samuel Adam.  Fermi is the champion having his first title defense. Anyone who has spent time around the cages of Big Wave knows of the only current champion in organization. He has phenomenal takedown defense and his boxing is not only technical but packs a devastating punch as no one has made it outside the round with Fermi yet. Adam might have been eliminated in the first round but that was against a guy that he went to decision with who might have been eliminated in the semi finals but wasn't beaten, he just didn't make weight. In Adam's second fight he beat the guy Fermi beat in the second round much faster having knocked out Robertson in just a mere 19 seconds. So Adam definitely has the power to hand in this division as well. We did catch up to press conference that the champion Fermi was being made to have leading up to his title defense.

Reporter Chan: Hey Fermi how do you feel about being in the Main Event of a tournament you aren't in?

Enrico Fermi: I feel honored. Having been in a tournament here in Big Wave and winning it, I know just what these young guys are going through?

Reporter Smith: How do you feel about some people saying they are using your name and status that you have built right here in Big Wave to help sell tickets and get eyes and some popularity to these young fighters in this tournament?

Enrico Fermi: I started my career and every fighter hopes to give back to a place they got there start some day. I don't think it's true and that's what they are doing. It's just kind of where things fell in place. By the time this fight happens it will be over a month since I have won the belt and needed to defend my title.

Hawaii MMA: How do you see this fight going?

Enrico Fermi: I think I do the same thing I have in all my fights and that is knock him out in the first round.

"Ca$h 💵" Alois Huallpa Rimachi

Speaking to Crazy Horse media fresh from his 1st round tournament win over Will Ong, Huallpa Rimachi was quizzed about how he thought the fight went.

"Like I said before, I knew my opponent was a fraudulent old man! He tried to take me down 20+ times and also clinch me just as many times as that. 43 attempts and he only succeeded 3 times (1 of them being a clinch). That's the strength of a geriatric! Then the one time I decide, hey I can play this game too and clinch up with him and hit him with some dirty boxing, he was out of there immediately breaking off the clinch. I have a feeling he came to this fight just trying to hug me to death, and he certainly tried.

He has a big old head though. Granite chin at this weight class is a hard one to crack, but in the end I just had far too much for him and broke his coconut head with my big right hand before a pretty sweet combo to finish him if I say so myself. And then look at our conditioning. I had enough energy to go for the same fight again, but he's basically passed out from all those takedown attempts. Hopefully Ong is a better doctor than he is professional hugger, because he didn't put his best foot forward today."

Asked about if he's got any concerns moving forward and what he thinks about his next matchup Joseph Kuruvila, Huallpa Rimachi was pretty worked up:

"No, I have no injury concerns. I have a 7 day injury listed, but that's because Ong has a coconut head and granite chin which I had to crack with my bare hands. He hit me with 1 combo the whole fight.

What I am annoyed about though, is I'm fighting a pure striker next who also fought a pure striker. I've had to waste all this time training for the professional hugger, while this next guy doesn't even know what a takedown is. It's MMA and I'm going to show that. I'll box his face off and turn him into a wrestler, only then to dominate him there. I know he's a fellow alliance guy, so I respect my next opponent, but he's had an easy run. All that clinch fighting against another standup guy with 0 clinch skills and he couldn't crack that chin. He'll have to do better against me."

Slo Moegan: Ladies and gentlemen I give you your winner by submission in the very first round Shawn Harper!!!

Shawn Harper: Thank you, thank you all. Hey Slo.

Slo Moegan: Man talk us through that fight.

Shawn Harper: Sure thing, but first I want to thank McBaggins for the fight. He's a talented good tough dude. So the fight. The bell rang and I went for a takedown and didn't get it. He hit me with something and I still don't know what it was but it busted my eye open and cut me. I went for another takedown and landed in half guard. I softened him up with a few strikes on top and took side control. I softened him up with a few more strikes on top and took full mount. Once there I saw an opening for an armbar and took it and got the submission.

Slo Moegan: Well it was certainly a good job. So your next opponent is Abasi Njagi any thoughts on that one?

Shawn Harper: He's a very talented bjj practitioner and very much my kryptonite so I'm going to have to be pretty careful with how I proceed in this fight. Just train and trust my gym, coaches, and corner to give me the best shit I can at winning this one.

Slo Moegan: Well good luck to you and can't wait for the next time I get to call one of your fights.

Big Wave The 135 Tourny Review:

Zafir Farman versus Diego Lacasa had everyone in the crowd baffled as Lacasa seemed to really want to fight this one on the ground which being a boxer seemed a little weird to me. Farman seemed unfazed by this though and kept his composure and ended getting the KO win in the second round.

Filip Yumashev and Detritus Rubble saw Yumashev taking the fight to the clinch and just overwhelming Rubble until he eventually put his lights out in round 3. The fans seemed to have love the action as rarely does a fight lasting this long get such a high approval from the fans as 93% of the fans in attendance tonight after the event said they enjoyed that fight. Rumor has it the other 7% was here strictly for Fermi's title defense fight and showed up to the event after this fight was already over.

Joseph Kuruvila and Hiroshi Gomi is the only fight of the evening that went the distance. Which had Gomi winning the fight at range but Kuruvila kept taking the fight to the clinch and working Gomi over and in the clinch Gomi looked clueless. Winner by unanimous decision Kuruvila.

World Peace and Ryan Steinbeck in which Steinbeck cut Peace early. It was pretty clear early on Peace wanted the fight on the ground and he got it there twice and ended up getting the submission in the second round. Later that night World Peace made a death threat via social media to his next opponent and was fined all but the cost of airfare.

Alois Huallpa Rimachi and Will Ong went all the way to the 3rd and final round before Rimachi got the win by KO. It was basically clinch and takedown attempts by Ong and Rimachi meeting him with a left or a right each time for his troubles.

Abasi Njagi and Naoya Inoue was not only a submission victory by Njagi but also the fastest victory of the entire night ending in just 29 seconds. Njagi countered with a quick takedown and then shortly had Inoue in a kimura.

Shawn Harper and Douche T McBaggins had McBaggins cutting open Harper with the only punch he landed in the fight. Harper took the fight to the ground landing some repeated ground and pound while slowly advancing position before sinking in the submission for the win.

Otar Arkady and Joao Gonsalves had Arkady opening up with a quick takedown and then a bunch of failed attempts trying to improve his positioning before the ref stood the fight up. After the ref stood the fight up Arkady went to work landing a series of punches in rapid succession before turning out the lights of Gonsalves.

The Main Event of the evening had the crowd cheering start to finish with fans looking to see the only champion, Enrico Fermi's first title defense and it was against Samuel Adam. Fermi cut Adam quickly and shortly after hit him with a big right that sent him crashing to the floor and Adam sprung right back up though but appeared to still be wobbly. Might have clipped him behind the ear. Not much longer after that Adam drops his hands as to say I'm not worried and Fermi clocked him for it and Adam drops and the ref dashed in to save him and stop the fight and he protests the stoppage with the ref but when a guy dead leg falls like that he's out cold.

Big Wave 9 Preview:

Find yourself in Hilo Hawaii with nothing to do on July 23rd, then come to Paddy O'Malley's Bar and watch another Saturday night of entertainment by Big Wave MMA!

First fight is a 185 pound contest between Bastien Harris and Andaconda Slim. Both of these fighters are now 19 and you might remember them both back when they were 18 and fought here at Big Wave. Harris 0-2 has worked on his wrestling and takedown defense along with refining his striking since his last loss. Slim 0-1 has worked on his striking and striking defense since his last loss in hopes of being able to actually use his grappling his next time out since his last loss.

Next fight is a 145 pound contest between Basicly Brucelee and Denny Cortez. Brucelee is 19 and 0-1. He is one of if not the most prolific striker we have in the division. Cortez is 25 0-1 and is a boxer and BJJ purple belt. This should be an interesting one to watch in this small division.

Next up is a 170 pound contest between Akahoshi Hisashi and Jeebus Leebus. Hisashi is 19 2-0 and very well rounded. He will be making his Big Wave debute. Leebus is 22 0-1 and is Muay Thai and BJJ practitioner. He will also be making his Big Wave debute.

Then we have a 265 pound contest between Nik Pappadopoulos and Randyisio Tessino. Pappadopoulos is 25 1-1 and is a wrestler who has been working on his striking a bit as well as his bjj so he can better choose how he wants to use his wrestling. He will be making his Big Wave debute. Tessino is 26 1-1 and we already know this monstrous boxer can grapple winning his first fight in the cage of Big Wave by a quick RNC submission.

A 155 pound contest is in the agenda after that between Liber Lambart and Jaxen Christ. Lambart is 19 2-0 and has all the striking potential you could ask of a young fighter. He has been working on his takedown defense to use that striking and his bjj in case a fight still goes there. Christ is 19 1-0 is a Muay Thai fighter who has been sharpening his skills while also learning some takedown defense and bjj. Both of these fighters will be making their Big Wave debute. I expect these two natural strikers to be putting their best foot forward and see a beautiful striking display.

The Co-Main event of the evening is 145 pound fight where both fighters were like we want to run that back between Marcos De Lima and Thomas Dawson. De Lima is 25 1-1 and was chomping at the bit saying he wanted another go and was just an off night for him. Which when he did land his takedowns he didn't do anything at all with them and was very slow to act and mainly just controlled until Dawson escaped back to his feet or the ref stood it back up. Dawson is 25 1-1 and said it was no fluke he got hit by my power and forgot how to fight and I'll gladly knock him out again. Rumor has it when he isn't training he is out partying and not getting any rest so he might be taking this rematch lightly and arrive tired.

The Main Event of the evening is 185 pound contest between Odion Davis and Josh Agustov. Davis is 25 1-0 and is making his Big Wave debute. He is a Muay Thai fighter that packs a serious punch. He also holds a blue belt in bjj. Agustov is 25 2-1 and everyone in Big Wave remembers this wrestler's last fight here. It's not going to be an easy night for Davis as Agustov has shown he can take a beating as he got thrashed in the second and clearly got hurt but managed to hang on and came out even stronger in the next round. This fight could prove to be a very important fight for the division.

Big Wave 9 Review:

One of only two events at Big Wave that has made a profit so far bringing in 2,373 dollars on the good side after payouts and awards. Also to note it was one of highest rated events. I would like to thank you all as I'm sure performances like this will only bolster our ticket sales for the next event.

Now the moment you guys have been waiting for Bastien Harris dismantled Anaconda Slim in just 33 seconds picking up his first career win. And the fans loved and really set the tone for the night. It had it all and Harris must have been hitting the weight room because he knocked Slim down, cut him, rocked him, and knocked him out. Your winner by way of Knock Out Bastien Harris!!!

Basically Brucelee and Denny Cortez the fans didn't like as much but it was a good action packed fight for the Minute and forty seconds it lasted. Had to be because they are smaller guys so just not as destructive shots. Though that head kick that Brucelee threw that turned out the lights of Cortez was brutal. Your winner by way of Knock Out Basically Brucelee!!!

Akahoshi Hisashi and Jeebus Leebus lasted 35 seconds and was all Hisashi. You could feel this one was going to be something before it even started as they both were entering the cage the fighters couldn't stop staring at each other wanting to get this one started. Heck the weigh ins the day before the fight in this one was intense. Many more like that and we might have to start having security for our weigh ins. Anyways. It started out with Leebus as the aggressor going for a takedown and missing and a combo that missed. Then Hisashi went to the clinch and immediately breaks the clinch and hits him on the chin on the way out and he stumbles and his hurt and his chin is cut. Then a beautiful striking display from Hisashi as he fakes to the body making Leebus drop his hands to block and Hisashi goes over the top and clips him with an overhand that ends the fight. Your winner by way of Knock Out Akahoshi Hisashi!!!

Nik Pappadopoulos and Randyisio Tessino was the second longest fight of the night as it made it to the second round. The fight saw Pappadopoulos doing what one would expect and not stand and bang with Tessino as he clinched and put his Judo to work with a couple nice judo style takedowns. Once there both times he just battered Tessino until the doctor had to check on the cuts and call this fight. Your winner by Technical Knock Out by way of doctor stoppage due to cuts Nik Pappadopoulos!!!

Then we had a fight that actually went the distance in a someone's 0 must go fight between Liber Lambart and Jaxen Christ. It was a really good action packed fight and a close one to call but in the end the volume and shots landed for Lambart edged him the victory on the judges score cards. I for one gave it to Christ though as it wasn't a big difference and his shots were the bigger shots and did more damage. But it was a good performance by both men and can't wait for either of them to get back in our cages. Your winner by unanimous decision Liber Lambart!!!

Then the Co-Main was an immediate run it back fight between Marcos De Lima and Thomas Dawson. The fight lasted one minute and thirty one seconds. It was basically body shots and combinations from Dawson that set up his uppercut. Which the replay to show his power was quickly uploaded to his YouTube page as you can actually see the moment when De Lima goes out before hitting the canvas. Your winner by way of Knock Out Thomas Dawson!!!

The Main Event was a short one and got Knocked Out of the Night honors which says something when all but one fight ended in a knock out. It was between Odion Davis and Josh Agustov. It lasted 5 seconds as Davis wanted to put a stamp on his performance to fight Olly Holy for the first 185 title match. Davis circles right and lands a big head kick that drops Agustov and he follows with a couple quick strokes as the ref wastes no time dragging him off. Your winner by Knocking Out Odion Davis!!!

Big Wave 10: The Xfactor Preview:

It is the last event at Paddy O'Malley's Bar. Not because we have outgrown it but our contract with that location has ended and Wild Bob has given us a great deal at his location on a trial offer. So come on down as we say farewell to Paddy O'Malley's in style, with a card full of excitement.

First fight on the main card is a 205 pound fight between Mma Jake and Mihael Kotar. Both men will be making their professional debutes right here in our very own cages of Big Wave. Jake is 19 years old and a pure grappler. He got a wrestling scholarship to a University in London and also has a purple belt in BJJ. It's safe to say where he is going to want to take this fight. Kotar is 21 years old and is said to have been recruited by a gym there to help train guys in wrestling so expect his wrestling to be on point and rumor has it has been picking up some striking while there. It will be interesting to see who's wrestling allows who to fight the style they want.

Second fight on the main card is a 265 pound fight between Yung Brady and Furio Corleone. Both fighters are 1-0 and making their Big Wave debute. Brady is 19 and one of the most talented strikers in the division. His wrestling could use some work to keep a fight on the feet but few can hit the angles that this young kid can. Corleone is 25 and a boxer and a wrestler. He is one of the few guys who won't be scared to stand toe to toe with Brady. Expect this one to end by KO.

Third fight on the main card is a 205 pound fighter between Phol Hunter and Flameth Davis. Both fighters are undefeated and making their Big Wave debute. Hunter is 19 years old 2-0 and true MMA fighter and grew up wrestling. Davis is 25 1-0 and is also an MMA style fighter. Both of these guys can strike, wrestle, and grapple. With both men able to do it all it will be interesting to see where this fight goes and as one guy starts to get the better in one aspect does the other try and take it somewhere else.

Co-Main event of the evening is a 205 pound fight between Bill Whiest and Lutalo Masamba. Both fighters are 19 years old and has title implications for one of these fighters. Whiest is making his professional debute. Make no mistake about his skills though he is as game as any in the division as he is a true MMA fighter. Masamba as you all know is 2-0 and has already fought in Big Wave. He has some of the best kickboxing we have seen inside our cages and is a talented wrestler. A win here will put him in prime position for a title fight.

Main Event of the evening is 185 pound fight between Steven Donald and Talon Cannonier. Seldom do you see anymore a fight in Big Wave where the main card is between two fighters making their professional debutes but that largely has to do with Donald. This 24 year old kickboxer whom they say has pretty good takedown defense actually. Anyways he comes with substantial amateur kickboxing record 12-0 and is a national amateur kickboxing champion. So he is starting his professional MMA debute with a lot hype and popularity behind him. Cannonier is a 25 years old a great wrestler with a bit of a Muay Thai background. This fight should live up to the hype and expect an all out war.

Lightweight Champion

Jacob Handler (3-0)

Ladies and gentlemen, after 5 rounds of action, we go to the scorecards for a decision.
Judge Josh West scores the fight 50:44
Judge Ryoma Takatsuka scores the fight 50:44
Judge Paul Gruel scores the fight 50:44

Jacob Handler Post Fight;
“I’m here to make a mark on this sport, here to show I’m the greatest fighter that’s been in a WAVE cage. This fight was proved nothing and meant nothing. This belt means something but this fight, nothing. He is a terrible fighter with a terrible one dimensional fight strategy, I picked him apart with ease and that’s exactly what I hate. I want a challenge, to win a championship you want to bleed for it. I mean I can’t complain if I keep dominating fights but I want a CHALLENGE. Every time I step in this cage you will see a new peak I’ve hit and eventually it’ll just be proven fact that I am the peak of the mountain. I’m the one!”
