VFC-1 Resurrection Review

http://blog.chron.com/depthoffield/files/2011/10/UFCgal_0002.jpg

O'Neill V Bergen

For 2 minuets 22 seconds this one was a stand up war, Bergen was throwing kicks and punches and 'The Snake O'Neill replied with his boxing skills landing shots at will, Bergen realised quickly that O'Neill had better striking defence and was the more comfortable fighter in the stand and trade battle, trying to mix it up Bergen tried to clinch with no success, so he continued with some success to check O'Neil with leg kicks then quickly follow it up with some solid strikes, but O'Neill replied each time in kind, it was a great exhibition and something had to give, so it was when Bergen pulled out of a leg kick just after the two minuets mark that O'Neil cranked up the aggression firing and landing a series of vicious strikes that had Daniel Bergen back peddling across the cage, following up with a big left that had Bergen's legs like boiled spaghetti, The Snake relentlessly landed strike after strike until the ref jumped in and ended this one, Its a big first win via TKO for Bosco O'Neill and a good solid performance by Daniel Bergen, both fighters will be back in action I would imagine at VFC-2 and will no doubt bump heads again sometime in the future. No surprise then that this was awarded fight of the night.

Javier Martinez v Marcus Ulpius Traianus

We expected this one to be a contest of conflicting styles but Javier Martinez for the first minute showed Marcus Ulpious Traianus that he was more than capable of standing toe to toe and trading and when this became 'boring' for Martinez he took the one dimensional Traianus to the floor at will, here he mixed it up with some ground n pound, as Traianus utilised some decent defence off his back, the Ref stood it up and we were back to square one but again Martinez took it to the mat at will, this was much the same story as the round ended and we went to R2, Take down, GNP, Stand-up, it was becoming predictable and it was clear to see Martinez was bossing Traianus at ease, you always felt he had an extra gear and he slipped into it with ease after 4 min, of the second, Martinez scored a trip take-down and quickly unleashed a flurry of violent GNP that rocked Traianus and cut him open, Martinez kept pounding and the ref had no choice but to step in and put poor Traianus out of his misery, So its a convincing first win for Javier Martinez and its back to the Gym to hopefully broaden his base styles for Marcus Ulpius Traianus

Itora Bollockoff v Tony Slevin

Bollockoff took this fight because no one else wanted it, and we commended him for doing so but everyone knew that Tony Slevin's amateur reputation had been causing a stir, was it bravado or stupidity that made Bollockoff throw his hat in the cage we will never know, what we do know is that his head will probably be too swollen for some time to ever get the hat back on because Tony Slevin announced himself on the professional circuit with an absolute lesson in vicious uncompromising brutality, from the off he took Bollockoff apart and then some, First he cut him then knocked him down, rocked Bollockoff was stupid enough to stumble back to his feet and Slevin hammered him with a big right, Itora Bollockoff was out on his feet but Tony Slevin put him flat on his back and into hospital with a thunderous left, at 1.28 of round one that’s all she wrote, Slevin stakes his claim as one tough cookie in the 265, and Bollockoff faces a long lay off with injury. This one provided KO of the night.

Gorkon Pinocet v John Mallon

Gorkon Pinocet came out of his corner swinging for the fences in an apparent attempt to decapitate the débutante John Mallon, Mallon replied with some solid standup of his own and when Pinocet was edging ahead in the stand up war Mallon to it to the clinch the first few minute was mix of this high octane action, it was a WAR, however after breaking from a clinch in the just over a minute and a half into the first, Mallon unleashed a strong combination that found its target, this drove Pinocet into the cage where Mallon landed an uncompromising flurry of punches that destroyed Pinocets defence, the ref jumped in and ended it at 1.50 of the first round, a convincing first win for John Mallon against strong opposition, however the end of the fight was marred by wild allegations of cheating, Gorkon Pinocet made wild claims about oils being rubbed in his eyes by the young Mallon and he quickly called for a rematch, VFC refused the request and said only if both camps call for the rematch will it be so. VFC believes the fight was fair and that Mallon deserves a step up in competition in his next outing, however should Team Mallon decide to accept a rematch VFC will facilitate.

Trevis Brayn v Rutger Svensson

Billed as the battle of the glass chins it was expected that this bout would fall to whoever landed the first clean dig to the face! And so it was as Brayn broke his strength trying to take down Rutger Svensson, Svensson felt out his range with a few punches and a spinning back fist to the face no less, when he seen his opening at 1.22 in the first round, Svensson dropped Trevis Brayn with a big straight right, he quickly followed him to the mat and as he unloaded with hammer fists that Brayn could not defend the ref dived in and called an end to this one, a solid turn in fortunes for Rutger Svensson, and a comprehensive defeat for Trevis Brayn.

Co-Main Event

Sangram Singh v Fionn McCool

This fight was accepted at the 11th hour Singh's team left it late to accept the challenge, was this mind games?, we don't know, billed as stand up vs ground game, we felt whoever could impose their style on the fight early on would win it. Sangram Singh took no chances with the feared heavy hands of the 'Car-bomb' Fionn McCool, he slid straight in and with no problem took McCool to the floor, softening McCool up with some GNP Singh was on the look out for submission opportunities and almost locked in a kimura early on, however McCool showed some good grappling defence and strength to mix it up and avoid strikes and sub attempts off the bottom, this was the story of round one with Singh bossing the bout. R2 started the same way and almost the entire round focused on Singh landing GNP and trying for the submission, it seemed McCool was far out classed by Singh's floor game however McCools tenacity in avoiding the GNP and escaping the subs wore down Singh's energy and ability and in 4th minute of the round the ref stood them up due to lack of action, both fighters moved in and out of the clinch trying to get a breather after the war on the mat. R3 started with the stand-up opportunity The 'Car-bomb' had been looking for, he quickly floored Singh with an uppercut and a powerful drive to the body, Sangram Singh was rocked, as he got to his feet, Fion McCool drove him into the cage and then to his knee's with a series of viscous strikes forcing the ref to jump in and end it, what a victory for Fionn McCool as he showed his ability to suck up the punishment and still unleash a violent finish which undoubtedly snatched victory from the jaws of defeat, Sangram Singh will be back, but he will have to hone his finishing, as at times this fight was his for the taking, McCool stakes a claim in the 205 with this victory.

Main Event

Duane Stockton v Roberto Issa

This Bout began with a stand up war, Issa and 'Corn-Fed' Stockton went at it toe to toe, Stockton's defense the better with many of Issa's shots not hitting the mark, Issa was also looking for the take-downs but Stockton was sprawling well, Issa managed a take-down, but Stockton bounced straight back up, Issa mixed it up and took the fight to the clinch, Stockton broke the clinch and began striking wildly with most missing their target, just after three minutes of round one both fighters traded shots and when Issa missed a take-down attempt Stockton landed a powerful body shot that left Issa winded, gasping like a goldfish Issa tried to clinch but Stockton again landed a shot winding him further, it was only a mater of time, Issa managed to survive a looping right hand, then Stockton landed a lightning uppercut out of nowhere, Issa miraculously stayed on his feet but was disorientated and groggy and Stockton was like a Great White in a swimming pool laying into Roberto Issa with a series of horrific strikes which forced the ref to jump in and put an end to this one via TKO, Issa showed a lot of heart in this fight but was clearly outclassed by Corn fed Stockton, you had a sense that at anytime Stockton could move it up a gear, he stakes a claim in the 265 division and caps a remarkable return for Valor Fighting Championship to NYC.

The Resurrection is complete, the process of finding contenders capable of challenging to become a VFC champion has begun we await the next instalment at VFC-2 and if it is as breathtaking as last nights event, everyone will have a chance to prove their VALOR.

VFC-2 Proving Ground

http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/posters/141214537328k6e7d.jpg

Marcus Ulpius Traianus v Larry Fitzpatrick -205

Following a very one dimensional showing last time out, wonderful boxer Marcus Ulpius Traianus will be looking to kick start his career against Larry Fitzpatrick, The Pitbull Fitzpatrick has had mixed fortunes himself with a win and a loss in the QFC, with strong MT competent boxing he has some floor game with his blue belt, this bout really could spell the start or the end of each fighters career. Who will win its even money at the minute.

Daniel Bergen v Trevis Brayn -185

Daniel Bergen was unlucky on his last outing against Bosco O'Neil he put in a good showing, his opponent on the night Trevis Brayn never done enough in his last bout to trouble his opponent but i expect both fighters to bounce back here and really go for this one, the classic conflict of styles it could be a case of does it stay standing or not, Bergen will hope it does with his bases in MT and Boxing while his opponent with a brown belt in BJJ will want it on the mat, again this one is too close to call though we were impressed with Bergen last time out.

Alex Shoupp v Peta Stijakovic -265

Alex 'Big Boy'Shoupp has been in the thick of it since going pro, though most his fights have been in the QFC, His bases are wrestling and BJJ i expect he will favour the floor game in this bout. Peta "Hornet" Stijakovic only bout before this ended in a TKO strikes win but don’t be fooled his strengths lie in the ground game with his bases also in wrestling and BJJ, will his ability to punch give him the edge in this bout or will Alex Shoupp's experience carry him through? we will find out in the cage.

Alex Driscoll v Gorkon Pinocet -205

Last time out Gorkon Pinocet was upstaged by the rookie John Mallon, and made wild claims of cheating, this colourful character is back in action against Alex Driscoll who boasts wonderful boxing, Driscoll has had mixed fortunes in his career and has trained hard for this bout, can Gorkon back his hard talk up with hard action watch this space and find out.

Tony Slevin v Roberto Issa -265

Tony Slevin announced himself in brutal fashion at VFC-1 KO'ing Bollockoff and hospitalising him into the bargain, however we thought Bolockoff unprepared for the bout, The Matador Roberto Issa however should be a different kettle of fish, Issa put up a good fight against Corn Fed Stockton last time out and with both fighters sharing similar bases in Boxing and BJJ i expect this one to be a WAR, again this is too close to call though Slevin is being widely backed.

Bosco O Neill v Billy Grande -185

Bosco O Neill had a solid start to his career last time out, with a good spread of bases in stand-up and ground game he’s well rounded, Billy Grande is more ground orientated and has had mixed results in his career, this should be a close bout and O'Neill will want to keep it standing, who will win we feel if it stays standing its O'Neills if it goes to ground expect Grande to edge it.

Javier Martinez v Sangram Singh -205

Martinez bossed his opponent in his last fight, and always seemed to have a gear he could move up into, Sangram "Pehelwan" Singh was beaten in his bout but bossed it for 90 percent being unable to finish his opponent his opponent finished him, i feel these two are well matched and i expect a hard tactical conflict of styles, if Singh can polish up on his finishing he could take this one, but don’t underestimate Martinez as we are ye to see him forced to his best.

Co-Main Event

Fionn McCool v John Mallon -205

Fionn McCool endured a ground mauling and grappling war to TKO his opponent last time out, it was a very convincing win to be on the defensive for almost three rounds and to get up and finish as he did, his opponent John Mallon had a great win in his first bout fighting a war also wining via TKO, we expect this one to be a War between two fighters firmly in the mix at 205.

Main Event

Duane Stockton v Douglas Kopejtka -265

Corn Fed Stockton showed he is well in the mix with his win last time out, he fought a good fight and always seemed he had an extra gear should he win here at VFC-2 he will be one of the 265 fighters in the mix for the Belts when they are up for grabs, his opponent on the night Douglas Kopejtka wont be a walk over to that contender spot, he has had mixed fortunes 5-5-0 but sports exceptional Boxing among other things, he is a big step up in class for Corn Fed, i expect both fighters to leave it all in the middle of the cage and when the dust settles who will emerge victorious from the Proving Ground? watch VFC-2 the Proving Ground in NYC to find out

VFC-2 Proving Ground Review

http://theofficialmmanation.files.wordpress.com/2014/01/melendez.jpg

Marcus Ulpius Traianus v Larry Fitzpatrick -205
Marcus Ulpius Traianus redeemed himself here in some fashion completely annihilating a poor Larry Fitzpatrick, this was all one way, a stand up drubbing that Fitzpatrick had no answer for, it showcased Traianus's strengths which were denied a platform in his last outing with this first round TKO he has shown he can mix it with the stand up fighters, he must now strengthen his wrestling to make sure all his fights stay standing. Had this been a KO rather than a TKO he would have gotten KO of the night.

Daniel Bergen v Trevis Brayn -185
These to fighters went at it from the off but a vastly improved Daniel Bergen quickly showed his dominance, Trevis Brayn had no answer for Bergen's stand up and attempts to take Bergen down showcased a solid defence, so it was after 2.29 of round one Bergan landed a pinpoint strike KO'ing a rocked Bryan, Bergen will get better he has shown character to overcome a bitter defeat there will be more to come from him for sure.

Alex Shoupp v Peta Stijakovic -265
The first round of this fight was diabolically slow and drew boos from the crowd a technical floor game with Shoupp the more dominant. The second started a bit more aggressively so it was with some surprise that this one was finished via TKO strikes, Shoupp tiring of the tactical game and perhaps reacting to the crowds frustration at a lack of action began unloading GNP after the third minute of the second round, the overwhelmed Peta Stijakovic had no answer and the ref saved him from a further beating, Alex Shoupp was never tested in this bout and will receive a step up in competition in his next outing.

Alex Driscoll v Gorkon Pinocet -205
Wow what a start to this one Gorkon Pinocet was obviously his own best customer back in the day when he dealt drugs, because he came out of the corner swinging of balance at his opponent Alex Driscoll, who thinking christmas had come early floored Pinocet with a vicious 1-2, Driscoll then waved the stunned Pinocet to his feet, dodging a lazy hook only to unload two devastating combos that KO'ed the completely out classed Gorkon Pinocet 9 seconds into this one and that's all she wrote, again Pinocet made absurd claims of cheating, but he's left scraping the barrel of the division as Alex Driscoll moves on to bigger and better things.

Tony Slevin v Roberto Issa -265
Its going down your getting timbered sang Tony Slevin as this bout got under way and both fighters cautiously tested the others stand up defence and clinch skills over the first few minutes of R1, as we past the third minute Slevin showed Issa that he could move it up a notch landing a massive left that kocked Issa to the floor, the relentless Slevin pounced into guard and tried for submissions but Issa recovered and showed some good defensive grappling to ward of the onslaught, the round ended with Slevin persuing the standup onslaught, R2 was much the same but Issa fought a defensive standoffish battle and Slevin was like a shark in a kiddies swimming pool, so it was no surprise as we entered R3 that Slevin spotted an opening and began landing big right hands that left Issa with no defence and the ref with no choice but to step in and call and end to this one via TKO. A big win for Slevin who will go on now to face tougher opposition, he is now well in the mix at 265 and im sure Corn Fed Stockton will be keeping an eye on the progress of this lethal young slugger.

Bosco O Neill v Billy Grande -185
A round of two halves as this one didn't make it to the second, straight out of the traps Billy Grande secured the take-down and began the search for submissions Bosco O'Neill showed good defensive grappling to avoid the onslaught, Grande slipped up just after the 2 minute mark as he allowed O'Neill to work his way back to standing using the cage for leverage, the fight went to clinch as both men sought a breather, O'Neill came out of the clinch determined to take Grande's head off going quickly on the offensive, and after the 4 minute mark O'Neill landed a series of punches and Grande got his legs tangled trying to escape the tirade, leaving himself wide open to moe strikes that had him rocked, as he lay stunned on the floor The Snake dived in and ended this one with a series of punches and killer elbows that had the ref diving in to save the beleaguered Grande. With this win Bosco 'The Snake' O'Neill goes on to bigger and better things.

Javier Martinez v Sangram Singh -205
This one was the Wrestler Vs the BJJ artist and it would be a case of who had the better defensive grappling, Martinez went straight in and took down Singh, who was unlucky not to win his last bout, Singh quickly moved into guard and began advancing his position when he had done this he began looking for submissions Martinez was being out classed by Singh as he moved with the slippery strength of a python avoiding most of the GNP that Martinez tried to land, so it was no surprise that after 1.45 of R1 Sangram Singh locked in an arm bar and Martinez was forced to tap, Martinez will have to improve his ground defense if that is where he wants to take his fights, while it was a solid return to form for Sangram Singh.

Co-Main Event
Fionn McCool v John Mallon -205

This fight was a War of attrition with both fighters giving as good as they got, Fionn McCool however edged the fight with a heavier set of hands he knocked his opponent John Mallon down twice in R1 and cut him, Mallon was rocked but fought a smart fight and survived the scare, the second round saw Mallon cover up better but he was again floored after the 2nd minute, getting up he gave as good as he got for the rest of the round, in R3 it was still evenly matched and Mallon mixed it up taking the fight to the clinch and landing strikes and thats how it ended the decision going to McCool for his knock-downs in the first and second and with the final round going to Mallon, it was a close cut thing and no doubt John Mallon will be back as both these fighters are firmly in the mix at 205.

Main Event
Duane Stockton v Douglas Kopejtka -265

This one started with a change of tactic by Stockton as he drove his opponent into the cage and the clinch both fighters landed strikes as Douglas Kopejtka tried for a take-down, Corn Fed landed an illegal hill-billy kick just before the first minute was up and Kopejtka had to have time to recover, then Corn Fed Stockton slapped Kopejkta which somehow managed to cut him, Kopejkta replied with a series of wild punches that failed to find the mark, the fight moved in and out of the clinch under the control of Kopejtka, and then Kopejkta secured a take-down, both fighters fought for control and position on the mat but stockton took guard and stood up it was back to the cage as both sought an upper-hand in the clinch war, moving into round two, it was much the same clinch, take-down standup, neither fighter was doing enough to trouble the other then after the first minute of the second the two went toe to toe as Corn fed Stockton fired off shots and Kopejkta replied and also tried for the clinch and the takedown, Stockton was having none of it and his aggression built up as the onslaught became more intense all he needed was an opening, and he got it after the 2 minute mark when Kopejkta missed a takedown Stockton landed an overhand left rocking his opponent, Kopejkta did well to reply with a soft combo that Corn fed easily avoided but Kopejkta was on wobbly legs and stockton knew it he pressed forward and on 2.47 of round two he unleashed a strike that almost KO'ed Kopejkta who unable to defend himself from further punishment was saved by the ref, a big finish for Corn Fed Stockton following a frustrating containment of his aggression for most of the fight by Kopejkta, Corn Fed is now in the mix for the belt at 265, can he continue to be the main contender for the belt? There are plenty out there willing and able to test his resolve watch this space as VFC-3 is on the horizon.

Stuart "Jackson" Stardust makes his début for VFC with a record of 3-1-1 he boasts wonderful boxing and a blue belt, the majority of Stardust's fights have went the distance which questioned his ability to finish opponents something he improved on in his last outing as he had his first Pro finish via KO, his opponent at VFC-3 is Mike "Brown Boa" McDougal Jr who is one of the influx of 'new blood' making their Valor débuts at VFC-3, the Brown Boa has a record of 4-1-0 and boasts superb wrestling and a Brown belt in BJJ,most of McDougal's wins have come from submission but he has shown to be susceptible to hard strikers, this one is a classic conflict of styles and will probably come down to who can impose their game first, this bout officially opens our 170 division.

Smith “Average Joe” Black V Gabryel Catchmaer - 265

Smith "Average Joe " Black joins us at 265 with a mixed bag of 5-4-0, Black has shown a bit of a glass chin against strikers but can go the distance and finish via submission, sporting competent wrestling and a Brown Belt in BJJ i expect him to try and take it to the floor and keep it there, his opponent on the night Gabryel Catchmaer is a rarity in MMA in that he has a broad range in skills rather than being remarkable in any one discipline, strong boxing, proficient MT and wrestling and a purple belt in BJJ, are these skills spread to thin or will this diversity be his strength, he has a mixed bag at 2-2-0 sporting KO power his weakness seems to be his chin,it might not be tested in this bout but his ground game better be up to scratch or he could be tapping, tomorrow night will tell the tale.

Barry “The Bomber” Browne V Alex Driscoll - 205

Barry " The Bomber" Browne is at a cross roads in his career and at a new Org with a new manager, will the change do him good? Tony Slevin, the rookie legend sending shivers down the 265 divison at Valor his heavy hands are no easy task for any fighter he is 2-0-0 in Valor and sports wonderful boxing and a brown belt, his opponent,Alex "Big Boy" Shoupp had a big win last time out in VFC he has strong wrestling and a blue belt with a record of 6-5-0 this will be the rookie v the master as Shoupp has far more experience, will raw power or experience win out? watch this space.

Joe “Teapot” Brown V Dean “ The Iceman” Malenko - 205

Joe "Teapot" Brown joins us sporting wonderful MT and respectable boxing Joe is a pure striker, his only career fight was a win via KO head kick, his opponent, Dean "The Iceman" Malenko has a brown belt in BJJ and competent boxing, he also has one pro win via submission, the classic conflict of floor v stand-up who will win? we don't know but be surprised if this goes the distance.

Roque “Hard” Johnson V Luther “Steel Fists” Lamel - 205

Roque "Hard" Johnson, joins us with a record of 7-4-0 with remarkable boxing proficient wrestling and a purple belt, Hard Johnson rarely goes the distance as he KO'S and is susceptible to KO, his opponent on the night Luther "Steel Fists" Lamel can and has KO'd with a record of 6-3-0 he sports wonderful boxing and proficient wrestling, this one should be a stand up war as both fighters give no quarter to the point they leave themselves susceptible to KO's themselves.

Co-Main Event

Tyler "The Whirlpool" Wilson v Anya Oley - 185

The Whirlpool Wilson enters this fight with a record of 7-6-0 with a strong spread across all the disciplines it seems he is prepared for all eventualities, he has shown he can go the distance and has lost and won via KO and TKO, his opponent Anya Oley's strengths are in his BJJ brown belt and his proficient wrestling, with a record of 8-5-0 all his wins via submission, however he is on a losing streak since he left the Chaos Org and he will be desperately hoping he can break his duck at VFC-3, that's a tough ask with this opposition.

Main Event

Frank "American Gangster" Lucas v Aaron Nott - 185

No one wanted to fight Lucas last time out, his reputation precedes him, with a record of 4-0-0 his strength is in proficient MT and his purple belt with some wrestling as well, three KO's and a submission win lets you know he can fight on the floor or in stand up, his opponent on the night is Aaron "Nightmare" Nott, sporting wonderful boxing respectable wrestling and a blue belt, with a record of 4-3-0, Nightmare Nott has the tools to take the fight to Frank Lucas, when he wins he wins via KO so this one could be a classic will they stand and trade or will Lucas try and mix it up, this is a hard one to call and we expect a war form both men as they aim to set the main event alight and stake a claim in the 185 division.

See it all at VFC-3 New Blood, they’ll be mopping it up of the canvas!

VFC-3 New Blood Review

http://promma.info/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/09_tyron-woodley-vs-rudy-bears.jpg

Stuart Stardust V Mike McDougal

The battle of the clinch, this fight moved in and out of it constantly with Stardust the more aggressive fighter, so it was only a mater of time before he got his opening and at 1.58 of round 2 Stuart Stardust rocked Mc Dougal then almost took his head of with a straight right that gives him a big KO win, onwards and upwards for Stardust, back to the gym for a dominated Mc Dougal Jr.

Smith Black V Gabryel Catchmaer

Boom this one was over quickly, a quick clinch up was quickly followed by brutal unanswered strikes from Catchmaer, and at 28 seconds of round 1 it was all over via TKO Catchmaer announces his prowess as a striker and the dismal Black is Black and blue and back to the gym.

Barry Browne v Alex Driscoll

Barry Brown was on a losing streak, losing his manager and changing his Org, at a cross roads this fight was last chance saloon, and boy did he redeem himself Driscoll tried for a take down but was never getting it brown was like a man possessed firing off combo's many missing the target a quick clinch broke and Brown devastated Driscoll further and at 0.57 of round 1 Brown dropped Driscoll with relentless striking leading the ref to call an end to this one via TKO, Brown makes a name for himself at 205

Booker Huffman v Buakaw Pramuck

Pramuck came out wild and aggressive trying to end this one early, Booker Huffman was composed and took his time and mixed up his game with strikes take downs clinches and more, round two started with a take down for Huffman and he bossed the ground game that Pramuck had no answer for, at 2.18 Huffman landed a savage elbow strike on a rocked Pramuck more strikes had the ref diving in to save the smashed Pramuck, it was all over with Huffman victorious via TKO.

Dante Boudain V Desi Dallas

Boudain bossed this bout from the start, Dallas had no answer for the aggression of Boudain so it was no surprise when at the start of round two Dante Boudain unloaded a brutal high head kick that knocked Desi Dallas's lights out, big win here for Dante Boudain and its back to the gym for Desi Dallas.

Tony Slevin V Alex Shoupp

A big win here for Tony Slevin as another of his fights ends via brutal TKO, Slevin is now firmly in the mix at contender level and following his round two TKO win over a dismal Alex Shoupp he quickly asked to join the action at VFC-4 and we have obliged, its back to the gym for Shoupp after this defeat.

Joe Brown v Dean Malenko

KNOCKDOWN that's how this one started as Malenko was floored from the off by Joe Brown, this cut Malenko who quickly tried to get back in the bout but met solid striking defence brown rocked Malenko with a head kick and at 57 seconds of round one Brown repeated the trick landing another lighting fast head kick which KO'd Malenko, Brown advances as Malenko goes back to the drawing board.

Roque Johnson V Luther Lamel

Johnson came out from the bell swinging for the fences and Lamel landed a big right to put Johnson on his back side, rocked Johnson got to his feet, Lamel circled like a shark going for the kill, while Johnson's legs were like spaghetti Luther Lamel unloaded a big overhand right which layed Johnson out cold, that's all she wrote, Lamel stakes a claim on the division with a powerful win.

Tyler Wilson V Anya Oley

From the off Anya Oley ducked under a strike and secured a take down moving into side control he quickly started looking for submissions, Wilson had no answer to the grappling and looked in serious trouble, at 1.18 of round one Wilson’s squirming got him into serious trouble as it helped Oley lock in a Kimura, which had Wilson quickly tapping, that was it a brilliant victory for Anya Oley.

Frank Lucas v Aaron Nott

Our main event didn’t disappoint as from the start Aaron Nott carried a war to Frank Lucas, Lucas was up to the game and showed some good defence and offence to weather the early storm, close to three minutes in Lucas secured a take down and began working some ground and pound on Nott who didn’t look too comfortable on the floor, Lucas began looking for submissions

at 4.58 of round one Frank Lucas locked in an arm triangle squeezing hard Nott had passed out before he realised he should be tapping, a devastating victory for Frank Lucas who is a real contender at 185.

That wrapped up the blooding of the new guys and what an event all ending via KO-TKO-Sub it will soon be time to crown the champions just one more event to go, we will see you all at VFC-4 Contenders to the throne.

John Mallon v Larry Fitzpatrick - 205

Mallon and Fitzpatrick will be out for the comeback in this one as both were beaten in their last outings though Mallon acquitted himself with honour, Mallon can mix it in the stand up and the ground game while his opponent on the night Larry Fitzpatrick has a mix in the striking department and also has some floor game, i suspect Mallon will be the more polished and aggressive of the stand-up fighters in this one, Fitz has shown something of a glass chin in his last two outings, can he stand with Mallon or will he mix it up, watch this space tomorrow night.

Josh Barnett v Devontae Davis - 265+

This one opens our 265+ division, Mr Clever Barnett makes his VFC début with a 6-6-0 record he is a strong wrestler with a purple belt, his opponent on the night, Devontae 'Blood Rasta' Davis also makes his début with us, with a record of 3-10-0 he has some stand up and some ground game, this one is a blank canvas and both fighters have won and lost often enough to know what to expect, this should be a good bout.

Javier Martinez v Barry Browne - 205

Javier Martinez has had a mixed bag so far at 205, his opponent Barry Brown fought recently at VFC-3 and is having a renaissance in is career under new management, this will be the classic conflict of styles as Martinez likes to mix ground n pound with subs and Brown has recently took to 'Droppin Bombs' this has all the makings of a classic and both have the tools to win this one.

Clarke Greene V Marcus Ulpius Traianus

Greene makes his bow in the 205, with wrestling and BJJ as his bases expect him to try and go to the floor early on he has fought once and it was a sub victory in the QFC, his opponent, Traianus, is a wonderful boxer with some wrestling and BJJ i expect him to carry a war to Greene in an attempt to avoid a take-down though with the wrestling and BJJ Traianus can grapple when need be.

Tony Slevin V Vaclav Mika - 265

With this one we expect a WAR, the winner gets a shot for the uncrowned 265 title, Tony Slevin has been destroying his opponents with heavy hands, TKO and KO's have become his trademark, Slevin has to date been utilising his brutal boxing skills but that has masked the fact he sports strengths in BJJ, MT, and wrestling, anyone fortunate enough to survive the fists of steel are in for a rude awakening as he can mix it up on the floor and in the clinch, Vaclav "Wenceslaus" Mika, is also a super striker a proper sprawl n brawl slugger who matches Slevin in aggression and prowess, no TKO'S here just straight stone cold knock out's, this one is two close too call both men are stand up killers both are 3-0-0, both have the tools to do the business who will go on to be the 265 contender? watch this space.

Fionn McCool V Jordan Ramirez - 205

Fionn McCool the brawler gets the chance to be a contender as he takes on Jordan Ramirez, McCool has shown heart to overcome his opponents and claim his chance, Ramirez "Pretty Boy" is also a striker with a similar record to McCool, he makes his début in the 205 but has a record of 4-1-0 he may do what no one else to date has done and that is test the "Car Bomb's" chin, this should give us a great stand up battle, both men are evenly matched this one is too close to call.

Duane Stockton V Kyle Astori - 265

"Corn Fed" Stockton has been eating the competition at 265 a devastating striker you always think he has an extra gear, i believe we are yet to see his best, if he wins here tonight he gets the chance to fight for the belt at 265, his opponent on the night took the fight at short notice as Stockton's original opponent could not make the weight, never the less it was a brave decision by Kyle Astori who relatively new to MMA is 1-0-0, and out to prove himself in the division he is no softie his only fight ended in a TKO victory.

Hard Headed V Travis Browne

Hard Headed is a TKO, KO artist currently heading up our 265+ division, he sports wonderful MT, strong boxing and a blue belt in BJJ, while he KO's opponents for fun he has been susceptible to submissions in the past, his opponent on the night Travis "Hapa" Browne sports wonderful boxing and is a classic sprawl and brawler, with a record of 5-5-0 he does come into this one off a losing streak, i expect both men to showcase their striking prowess and with their weight i expect both to try and finish it early, this has the makings of a classic.

When the dust settles who will have done enough to claim their place as contenders for the crown of Valor Fighting Championship? watch VFC-4 in NYC tomorrow night.

VFC - 4, Review

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-otRia3V1J4k/T_H2GhwWhUI/AAAAAAAAAZU/WeFCuh6IUy0/s640/knocked+out+how+to+knockout+tko+it+a+knockout+2.jpg

Change of style, instead of the fight by fight break down review it will be a highlights summary from now on, unless someone would like to write the preview/reviews.

Contenders to the Throne seen plenty of action and some big surprises in NYC on Sunday night

It was back to winning ways for John Mallon as he TKO'ed a once again dismal Larry Fitzpatrick was a punch bag who must surely be considering his future after this defeat. A big win for Josh Barnett in our first 265+ bout after 1.45 he landed strikes resulting in the ref stepping in and ending this one Devontae Davis will bounce back and showed some heart in this one.

Back to winning ways for Javier Martinez as he TKO'ed Barry Browne, the bomber was bombed out by an impressive Martinez who is back on the 205 ladder, its back to the drawing board for Browne who looked impressive last time out perhaps he took this one too soon?.

Clarke Greene did just enough to shade his bout against Marcus Ulpius Traianus, he managed to can Traianus's aggression and win what was a very technical and dour affair.

BOOM Vaclav Mika destroys one of the most feared fighters in VFC Tony Slevin and moves straight into a title showdown with Corn Fed Stockton, taking Slevin into a clinch Mika landed blows from hell for all of 47 seconds before a dazed Slevin was saved by the ref, its a sore loss for Slevin who will now have to go back down the pecking order and earn his rematch.

Fionn McCool came out of the traps and annihilated Jordan Ramierz in an unbelievable 5 seconds i don't think Ramirez had time to blink, its back to the gym for him when he gets home from hospital and its straight into the biggest and toughest fight of the 'Car-bombs' career as he faces off against 'Fists of Steel' Luther Lamel for the 205 VFC title.

Duane Stockton KO's Kyle Astoria 40 seconds into his bout and marches straight into the 265 title fight showdown with the machine that is Vaclav Mika, Astori took the fight at short notice as the original opponent pulled out, it was a credit to him but he was sorely short to try and stand toe to toe with VFCs number one contender, Corn Fed Stockton has with ease destroyed everyone we have set in front of him, he has been defeated in the past but surely faces the fight of his life against the undefeated Vaclav Mika who shook the MMA world with his clinch destruction of the much fancied Tony Slevin we relish the thought of these two warriors going head to head.

Travis Brown sets himself out as the Alpha male in the 265+ division with a superb KO against the much fancied Hard Headed, it will be a few fights before the belts are up for grabs in the 265+ and 170.

Join us at VFC-5 Return of the King as we Crown the 185, 205 and 265 champions, in what’s sure to be a blockbuster.
