MMA Hype Promotions Weekly Recap It was another exciting week at MMA Hype Promotions. Hard to beat the debut of the Midget Wrestling League as they were definitely entertaining throwing each other around the cage! But, MMA Hype Promotions had Las Vegas popping with several very exciting fights. MMA Hype -35- An almost packed arena at Hard Knocks in Las Vegas came mostly to see the top 10 ranked and undefeated heavyweight Gage Burns fight the 6-1 grappling protege Nico Wong. Wong's only loss was in a championship round of a tournament and Wong was the favorite to win (according to bets received) despite Burns' undefeated 5-0 record. Wong attempted early to take the fight to the ground despite his advantage in Muay Thai. But Burns first punished Wong with a perfect 15 out of 15 strikes to Wong's face. Burns then decided he wanted to punish Wong on the ground and pulled guard. With an unorthodox style, Burns used his elbows and fiercely attacked Wong from the guard. Wong seemed dazed and confused, leaning on Burns nearly unconscious. The referee put an end to the fight just over a minute in and Burns made it clear to the world he can strike while standing, or on the ground...even from the guard. Burns will only need to defeat 1 more opponent for a shot at the heavyweight title. Burns' TKO of Wong was almost as impressive as Killian Holloway's flying knee that knocked out Fabrice Trausch just 30 seconds into the fight. Trausch came in as the higher skilled fighter, but it was clear that he did not prepare for sprinting, flying knees. It is rumored Trausch is now studdering when talking and suffered several seizures while at the hospital after this one. We will have a medical report coming soon on Trausch's career. If Trausch doesn't return, this would be the second fighter Holloway has retired with his Lethal Kicks. The Fight of the Night was one for the record books and possibly a top 5 fight of the night in MMA Hype Promotions history. The fight started off aggressive with toe to toe blows and clinches. Both fighters displaying aggressive anger toward each others with combinations of uppercuts, hooks, counters and jabs. The fans were on their feet screaming as these fighters put on a utter display of roman gladiator proportions. Marcus Spring came out slightly on top in the first round, but MarkRoland put on a comeback in the second round that clearly seemed to turn the fight around. By the start of the 3rd round fans for both teams were fighting each other and money was flying through SinCity Bookies for bets on the winner. The fight was as close as an MMA fight could get, but then MarkRoland really laid the onslaught to Marcus Spring. Spring was on his heels getting beat worse than a Michael Vick dog. But MarkRoland let his guard down, Spring counter punched and MarkRoland was seeing stars. Now dazed, MarkRoland continued his aggression and Spring laid another counter to MarkRoland's belly. MarkRoland didnt stop! He pursued Spring relentlessly and Spring made him pay with a counter uppercut. MarkRoland literally swallowed his tongue from this uppercut, but continued to fight, until LIGHTS OUT, another counter from Marcus Spring laid MarkRoland out. Nighty-night, MarkRoland was done. MMA Hype -36- The main event was Champion Isaiah Dawson vs. #1 contender Jude Donovan in the 185lb class. The 185lb weight class is well known around MMA Hype Promotions as the most underwhelming roster in the organization. Hype Promotions brought over Jude Donovan who was undefeated in Conquest (3-0) and defeated #1 contender Hector Wallace last month. However, Donovan did not have enough to contend with Isaiah Dawson. Both fighters known for their granite chins, this fight was expected to be left to the judges, but Dawson had other plans. Both fighters prefer the ground game with both of them excelling in GNP and Submission. Dawson however, was as slippery as a Justin Bieber at a Diddy party and Donovan could not keep hold. Dawson caught a sloppy punch from Donovan and held onto a monster armbar. Dawson's armbar was featured across Instagram with several streamers placing Ronda Rousey's face on Dawson's body and captions such as "The new Rousey." The submission by Dawson did not make the cut for the submission of the night. No, that went to Gorath Deestroy with the comeback submission of the year! Deestroy was getting beat on like a punching bag the entire fight against Carrasco. One of the least hyped fights on the card, nobody expected much out of either fighter. However, Carrasco was on fire working Deestroy over in the clinch throughout the entire fight, Deestroy seemed helpless. Through the third and final round, people were already heading over to the BBC merchandise stand and many stopped watching. But with 5 seconds left on the clock, Deestroy was able to get Carrasco's neck and secure a guillotine. As the clock struck 1 second left, Carrasco tapped! Nobody could believe it. The clock appeared to go off at the same time as the ref ended the fight. Replay cameras proved Carrasco tapped before the clock ran out. Incredible comeback victory for Deestroy! MIDGET WRESTLING This last Sunday, the world got to see the midgets again. The viral videos from last week's first round of the midget wrestling had already made its' rounds. Unexpectedly, the Midget Wrestling show was completely sold out! Jack Dredd, the favorite to win the tournament, secured another victory in the second round and will move onto the semi finals. Dredd is managed by @chuckw94. Olaf Koks, the now most popular midget at MMA Hype Promotions, but on a show scoring 14 points vs. his opponent Spud Grubbins. Koks is managed by @Ego and will also move onto the semi-finals to face Smalliver Twist. Dram Macallan was very busy in his win vs. a defensive Paul Crewe. Macallan made Crewe look like a tiny ragdoll as he threw him around the cage. Crewe was also seen complaining that Macallan is double jointed, giving him an unfair advantage in grappling. Macallan is managed by @Carciofi and is currently the favorite to win if he can get by Jack Dredd next week. Smalliver Twist was not expected to win any matches in this tournament, but somehow found himself moving onto the semi-finals. Twist also has an interesting paparazzi of midgets following him around; who knew there were that many midget photographers! Fans have been posting memes of Twist calling him the sexiest midget in Vegas, but the memes usually are followed by laughing, not praise. Is this midget on midget hazing? Maybe Twist's manager @FlatSky could give us more insight. And that concludes our weekly recap! Next week is another exciting week as we will find out if Aydin Parks can last against champion Zachariah Osborne who has currently knocked out every opponent (5) in the first round. Vanderlay Ferreira will not only be defending his title as the heavyweight champion, but also the Ferreira Era and! We will find out which two midgets will be smashing heads for the first ever midget wrestling championship! Tune in next time... -
