Octagon Insider: Exclusive Interview with Hastein Ragnarsson Q1: Hastein, congratulations on your TKO win over Warren Ramirez. That was a statement. How did it feel to bounce back from your previous loss in such dominant fashion? Hastein Ragnarsson: It felt like balance was restored. After that submission loss, I had a lot to prove—to myself more than anyone. Ramirez is no slouch, but I made it clear that I’m not here to hang around in the bracket—I’m here to take over. It was personal, and I needed to remind everyone who I am. First-round TKO. No questions left. Q2: You're now set to face Gjergj "Skanderbeg" Kastrioti—3-0 in the tournament, all first-round KOs. What’s your assessment of him as an opponent? Hastein Ragnarsson: He’s a monster, no doubt. Heavy hands, good composure, and he fights like he believes he’s destined to win—which makes him dangerous. But destiny doesn’t hit back. History books don’t help you when fists start flying. I respect his run, but I’m not here to be part of someone else’s legacy. I’m here to end it. Q3: Kastrioti has said he draws strength from his Albanian warrior roots and that he believes it’s his bloodline that gives him an edge. Thoughts on that? Hastein Ragnarsson: That’s cute. I’ve got Viking blood in me too—brothers who conquered with axe and fire. But in the cage, none of that matters. You’re not fighting with your ancestors—you’re fighting with your hands, your chin, and your will. If he thinks he’s protected by some ancient spirit, he’s in for a violent awakening. Q4: Stylistically, this could be a clash of titans. Both of you are knockout artists. Do you see this one ending early again? Hastein Ragnarsson: I’d be shocked if this went to the judges. We both come forward, we both hit with bad intentions, and neither of us likes taking a step back. But there’s a difference between hitting hard and being unbreakable. I’ve been tested. He hasn’t. Let’s see what happens when he finally gets cracked and the plan doesn’t work. My guess? He folds. Q5: Final thoughts heading into your biggest challenge yet? Hastein Ragnarsson: I’ve been in deep waters. I’ve bled. I’ve fallen and come back stronger. This is just another man standing between me and glory. I don’t fear him. I don’t fear anyone. When that cage closes, it’s not about names, records, or bloodlines. It’s about who’s left standing. And it’s going to be me.
