Tout Petit Gigante (409524) Post Fight Interview & Thoughts on Upcoming Title Shot Against Rival Interviewer: Good evening, everyone, and welcome to this exclusive interview with the man of the moment, Tout Petit Gigante! Tout, congratulations on yet another impressive submission victory. It was quite a performance against Mitchell at UFF 11. Can you walk us through your mindset going into that fight? Tout Petit Gigante: Thanks for having me. My mindset is always the same: go in, impose my will, and finish the fight. Mitchell was a tough opponent, and I knew he'd be looking to find openings for the submission, but I was confident in my game plan. Interviewer: The bell rang for round one, and you immediately shot in for a takedown, landing in side control. Was that the immediate goal, to get him to the ground? Tout Petit Gigante: Absolutely. I believe my ground game is my biggest strength, and I always want to get my opponents into my world as quickly as possible. Getting to side control right away was a great start, definitely better than I even anticipated. Interviewer: Mitchell managed to regain half guard and then full guard at various points. You seemed to be constantly working for submissions, even from those positions. What were you looking for in those exchanges? Tout Petit Gigante: I'm always looking for an opening. I'm constantly active. Sometimes it's about wearing them down, making them defend, and creating that split-second opportunity for the finish. Mitchell defended well, I'll give him that, but I knew if I kept the pressure on, something would eventually open up. Interviewer: There was a moment where you dropped back for a leg lock, but Mitchell managed to slip out. Was that a calculated risk? Tout Petit Gigante: Every move in there is calculated. Sometimes you bait them, sometimes you test their defenses. He slipped out, but it also gave me information about how he reacts, which is crucial for the next setup. I jumped back into his guard immediately, ready for the next phase. Interviewer: The crowd seemed to get a bit restless during a lull in the action in the later part of the round. Were you aware of that, and did it affect your approach? Tout Petit Gigante: To be honest, when you're in there, you're so focused on your opponent that the crowd noise fades out. My focus was on finding the finish. Sometimes fights have those moments of strategic positioning and regrouping. It's all part of a larger puzzle, but my resume speaks for itself, either way I look to dominate not for the cheer of the crowd but for my legacy and feelings it brings to myself. Interviewer: And then, suddenly, with less than 30 seconds left in the round, you locked in that guillotine from full guard. Mitchell tapped quickly. Can you describe that moment of victory? Tout Petit Gigante: It felt great. I'd been working on various entries and setups for the guillotine, and when I got the angle, I knew it was tight. He fought hard, but once I got the squeeze, it was over. It's always a great feeling to get the win, especially by submission. Interviewer: You’ve had an incredibly quick turnaround from that fight to this weekend, where you’ll be fighting Angelo Martinez for the title at UFF 14 in St. Petersburg. How are you feeling about such a rapid return to the cage, especially for a title shot? Tout Petit Gigante: I'm feeling fantastic. I train all year round, so I'm always ready. A quick turnaround for a title fight is what every fighter dreams of. It shows that the promotion believes in me, and I'm ready to prove them right. This is what I've been working for. And I'm really excited to be fighting in St. Petersburg for the first time in my career. It's pretty wild, being so young in my career and already getting to travel across the world for these fights. It just goes to show the reach of our endeavors. Interviewer: And of course, you're facing Angelo Martinez again. You've already submitted him once before, back in February at Quick Fight Championship, and there's been quite a bit of buzz between you two on social media. He's called your previous win a "fluke" and you've responded about him "tapping out." What are your thoughts on facing him again, this time for the championship, with that kind of history building? Tout Petit Gigante: Look, Angelo is a great fighter, he has beat the former number one contender Soares, before that beating decent regional names and he's obviously put in the work to be "coughs" champion. But I've beaten him before, and I plan on doing it again. This isn't just another fight; it's for the title. The "fluke" comment? He tapped. That's not a fluke. He says he wants to shut me up and avenge a "fluke loss," but the only thing getting avenged is him having what is rightfully mine. This feud? It just adds more fuel to the fire. He knows I am his sole loss, so he's desperate to avenge it and hand me my first one. I use that desperation as motivation as I know he is hungry, but my mindset is to be starving. I'm going in there to prove that I'm the undisputed champion, and he's just another obstacle in my path. I respect him as an athlete, but come Saturday, there will be no respect in the cage. I'm coming for that belt. I'm really looking forward to officially being champion again. I've been saying all along that I still feel like the champion because I never lost my title in a fight. I've been fighting so frequently to leave no doubt who the true number one is. Eventually, these quick turnarounds will have to slow down, but that will only happen once the belt is where it belongs. Interviewer: Tout Petit Gigante, thank you so much for your time and best of luck with the title fight this weekend. Tout Petit Gigante: My pleasure. Thanks for having me. Obrigado.
