"I miss that feeling of stepping into the cage and getting ready to fuck shit up, I think it's about time I step back into the cage again. I've been helping the guys over at Team Finland prepare for their fights since I left The Island, it's great seeing the guys there do well, we've got 4 champions but it's not the same as actually getting in the cage and fighting, I miss it.

I'll sign for 1 fight and if it goes well, who knows maybe I'll be back fighting regularly again. If you want to sign one of the best Middleweight fighters from the first season of The Island, then hit me up with a contract. Also wouldn't mind showing these new guys (2nd season of The Island) a thing or two, so if any of them feel brave enough, call me out!"

Former Island Season 1 fighter Liam O'Connor has announced that he has signed up to participate in the BEEF tournament. This will be his first fight since he left the Island. The tournament will contain fighters from both Season 1 & 2 and is an openweight tournament so all fighters can enter it.

"It'll be good to get back in the cage, I've been wanting to get back to fighting for quite some time. I've been preparing for my return for a couple of months now and I hope I'll get a win in my first fight back in the cage. Thanks to BEEF for inviting me to the tournament. All the best to everyone entering."

O'Connor Wins In Comeback Fight!

It's been 3 years in MMA Tycoon time or 8 months and 4 days in real life since we last saw Liam O'Connor step into the cage. Nobody was sure if he was ever going to come back after his stay on the first season of The Island, he had proven himself to be one of the best Middleweight fighters on that season of The Island and was a fan favourite during his time there. Since he left The Island, nobody had heard from him for a long time and it wasn't until a month ago that he talked about the prospect of going back into the cage.

Shortly after releasing BEEF management team made the announcement that he was joining their SlaughterSeason tournament, a tournament for fighters who participated on either Season 1 or Season 2 of The Island. This was exactly what Liam O'Connor was looking for, he wanted the chance to prove himself once more by getting in the cage again instead of just training in the gym.

It didn't take Liam O'Connor long to pick up his first win since leaving The Island. The fight ended in a familiar fashion with Liam O'Connor pulling guard and forcing his opponent to tap out. It wasn't the easiest fight of Liam's career as he was cut open from one of his opponents strikes shortly after the fight started.

We managed to get a quick word with Liam O'Connor after his win:

" It was an amazing feeling stepping back inside that cage again tonight, when that cage door closes, the adrenaline starts pumping... you know it's just the two of you in that cage and you'll do anything it takes to win. I got the win tonight and that was the most important thing, I'm looking forward to the next round of this tournament and who knows maybe I could end up the winner by the time this tournament is over.

It was weird fighting a Heavyweight. I never fought in an openweight fight before, those guys can certainly hit a lot harder than the guys I was used to fighting although that being said they are quite a bit slower. You really have to think carefully about what you're going to do before stepping in to fight in an openweight fight.

I want to thank Scooby for giving me the chance to step once more in that cage. I loved every minute being in that cage tonight. I also want to thank all my fans who have patiently waited for my return to the cage and I hope they enjoyed that fight tonight! "

" I love having the support of my fellow Irish fighters. James "Sully" McGuiness, I was a big fan of yours during your time on Season 2, you fought with real Irish spirit! Impressive that every single win you've had in your MMA career has been a TKO/ KO. I'll be heading over to have a couple of drinks with you to celebrate my win in my next fight!

If you ever fancy coming round to my gym and helping me prepare for my fights, you'd be more than welcome. Perhaps you could help me sharpen up my striking skills."

Following the news of the Umbrella Corporation / BEEF merger, a lot of fighters have been wondering what the future holds for them, one of which is the popular former Island fighter Liam O'Connor. He was inactive for quite some time and recently won his comeback fight earlier in the month in a tournament for ex-Island fighters, since then nothing has been said about the tournament. Since the change of ownership, he and the rest of the fighters in the tournament have been kept in the dark about their future.

" I don't know what to expect from this deal. I came back to fight in MMA because of the tournament, I saw it as an opportunity to show that I was a better fighter than all those Season 2 Island fighters and even the Season 1 fighters who joined the tournament.

Scooby left BEEF and since then, I haven't heard anything about the tournament. While it is exciting that I could be potentially joining one of the best organisations in the world, it also worries me because I didn't start fighting until I was 25 and I feel like I wont be able to be competitive if I'm matched up against some of the Middleweight fighters in Umbrella Corporation. Most of whom had been training/ fighting in MMA since they were 18, if not younger."

There's a lot of speculation as to what will happen to Liam O'Connor and the rest of the fights who were competing in BEEF: SlaughterSeason, perhaps we'll hear from Igor on the futures of the fighters from the BEEF: SlaughterSeason tournament. Maybe, he will decide to keep it running, or maybe these fighters will be searching for a new place to fight.

Things aren't looking great for the fighters who were participating in BEEF's SlaugherSeason tournament. Igor (Umbrella Corp's owner) released a statement saying that he wasn't sure if the company had the resources to match the reward that BEEF was offering to the winner of the tournament. It looks like the fighters who were participating in that tournament will be looking for a new home, that being said, it looks like Lady Luck was smiling upon one of the fighters who was formerly in that tournament, a man who is no stranger to the fans of The Island and a man who has a reputation of being "lucky"...

" We were left in the dark for quite some time, my manager said he'd contact me as soon as he heard anything from Igor but then I got a phone call from one of the representatives of Umbrella Corporation saying that Igor was wanting me to speak personally to me to discuss terms. I agreed and was passed through to Igor who mentioned that he thought there was a couple of potential fights that he thinks could work and he then asked me if it was possible for me to come to London and finalise terms and sign a contract with the organisation.

So that's where I'm heading atm, I left straight away with my manager and we're on our way to Umbrella Corp's HQ to finalise things. A contract has been agreed in principle and all that's left now is for me to sign on the dotted line.

If I'm honest I was worried about where I would end up, there's not many places former Island fighters can go to get a fight. I'm just grateful that I've been given this opportunity, Umbrella is quickly establishing itself as one of the top organisations in the world and I'm delighted to be a part of it! "

This is great news for the fans of Liam O'Connor, he only just came back from a long spell out from competing in MMA and it looked like he was going to facing another long spell before his next fight but this deal with Umbrella Corp means that we could be seeing Liam O'Connor back in the cage sooner, rather than later.

" Despite being 30 years old, I still get the pre fight jitters. I think it's a mixture of nervousness and excitement. Being able to represent Ireland in the sport of MMA is an honour for me, I know a lot of people from back home go crazy when I walk past them in the street, the support they've given me since I made my professional MMA debut on The Island Season 1 is amazing. I can't wait until I'm back in that cage and the fans are chanting my name.

I intend on being competitive during my time here at Umbrella Corporation, I'm not here just to make the numbers, I'm here because of my fighting ability and because both Igor and Michael believe I have the potential to do well here. I'm dreaming of winning that Middleweight title but my focus at this time is on my fight tomorrow night against James Bowie (5-1) who has the skill set to test me. I'm hoping I'll get off to the best possible start by winning my first fight and then who knows what might happen.."

" Damn, I knew this fight would be tough. Though I would have been able to secure a submission on the ground but I didn't get it tonight. Probably wasn't the best of decisions to try and stay on the ground, Bowie has some nasty ground and pound!

I'm looking to bounce back as soon as I can and I hope that in my next fight I'll get the win! "

The closure of Umbrella Corporation meant that it was going to be the second organisation in a row that "Lucky" Liam O'Connor has fought for which ended up closing before he could have his second fight. Since the organisation closed down, not much was heard from Liam's camp, they were keeping tight lipped since their last defeat and despite signing for Troid nothing was said by the Troid owner or Liam himself about the deal.

" I guess I just wanted to focus on my training. The loss in my Umbrella fight has made me doubt myself, for a while I wasn't sure what to do. I kept training waiting for Igor to ring me up and tell me that he had the perfect match up for me, but it never happened and then he disappeared and eventually the organisation closed which was sad.

Since then, I had been pretty much forgotten. Nobody was trying to sign me up and I'm convinced people forgot all about me, that was apart from one person, the Troid owner. He told me that he felt I could bring something to Troid and convinced me that it was the right move for me.

Since signing with them, I've been constantly training trying to improve my skill set to get me ready for my debut fight. Grant and myself haven't talked much about potential opponents but there's a name down that list that interests me... Tom "Bain" Hardy (9-7). The guy has proven himself to be a submission specialist, much like myself and I feel that if I can beat him then maybe I can some success at Troid. "

A fight announcement regarding Liam O'Connor soon to be on the cards? I guess we'll have to wait and see. I know one things for sure, Grant Brophy will be hoping that "Lucky" Liam wont turn out to be unlucky for him like he has been for other organisation owners who seen their org close/ sold after Liam fought in them.

R: "Firstly thanks for giving me a bit of your time to do this interview. How do you feel being the headline fight in your very first Troid event?"

LOC: "It feels awesome, Grant really believes I can bring something great to Troid and if I'm honest I have to agree with him. I'm used to being the main event having fought so many times on The Island as the headline fight of the evening, so being the headline fight for this event doesn't phase me. I hope that I put on an awesome show for all the fans in attendance!"

R: "Liam, many are saying that this next fight for you is going to be one of your biggest fights, in terms of importance. Do you feel the same way?"

LOC: "I'll be honest, it is a big fight for me. I know I haven't had too much success since leaving The Island and maybe that's because I started my career too late as a 25 year old when in comparison a lot of the fighters in this division started their careers off as 18 year olds or 16 year olds. If I can win this fight, it'll be a big boost to my confidence."

R: "Do you feel comfortable going to the ground with Hardy considering he's won 7 of his 9 wins by submission?"

LOC: "Did you not see me during the first season of The Island? I love rolling man, it's great fun and it turns out I'm pretty good at it. I'll be surprised if he forces me to tap when we fight. If it goes to the ground, it's going to be one hell of a fight and I think I could surprise a lot of people by securing a submission win."

R: "Given your strong boxing skills, are you not considering keeping the fight standing? Your opponent has been KO'd 4 times in the 5 times that he has lost."

LOC: "Of course being Irish I love to brawl and given his reputation of getting knocked out, maybe staying on the feet would be a good move for me. I guess I'll see how it goes come fight night."

Winning start for Liam O'Connor at Troid!

Fans of Liam O'Connor were eagerly awaiting his debut fight for Troid based in London and those who travelled to the event were left far from disappointed by his performance although some might feel they paid a bit much for what they seen of him as the fight lasted only a mere 23 seconds.

"He's a feared submission specialist, I wanted to prove that I'm the guy everyone should fear at Troid not Tom Hardy, so I went in there, grabbed him and pulled guard and locked in a guillotine choke which was so tight, Tom's lights went out.

If I'm honest I did expect a bigger challenge from him, he actually didn't get to do anything in this fight. Here's hoping that's the first of many wins for me at Troid! "

Liam O'Connor has extended his stay at Grant Brophy's Troid by signing a deal which will see him fight three more times for the London based MMA organisation. He seems to have found a place to showcase his talents having won three out of the four fights during his stay so far at Troid. Liam who is currently enjoying a two fight winning streak had this to say.

"I love it here! The fans are so passionate at Troid, every time I step into that cage it honestly sounds like the crowd are going to blow the roof off the arena it's that loud! All my fans from back home can easily come to my fights which is great, I love having the support of my loyal fans and everyone knows there's no fans in the entire world who are more passionate than a green army of Irish fans! With rumours going round that Django Diggs could be the latest addition to Troid's Middleweight division, we managed to get a word with former VIP Fights Middleweight champion and current Troid middleweight fighter, Liam O'Connor.

"For now, Django Diggs is unsigned. There's no point mentioning him to me, if he wants a chance to prove himself, he'll sign with Troid and if he's good enough we'll meet in the cage.

For now, I want to keep fresh and get back in there. Lugh Blackburn (11-3) hasn't fought since the start of the year, I actually got a feeling that last defeat broke him and that's why we haven't heard much from him or his camp. He's a Troid veteran and at one stage was the Troid Middleweight champion, if I get a chance to fight him and win, it'll move me one step higher to getting that title shot."

I'm sorry McOld'man Liam, but Django's gon' get emself a knockout of the night."

"The problem guys like you Django is that you live off your father's money, you don't really want it because you already have all the money in the world. Guys like myself, we have that hunger, we have that drive to reach the top and ye know why? It's because we had nuddin. Without MMA, I would be nuddin.

Grant Brophy sent me out a fight offer, it's got Django Diggs' name on it and I've accepted it. The ball is back on his court. If he truly believes he can beat me, he must be on drugs, there's no way in hell I'm leaving that Troid cage the loser if I'm inside it standing across from Django Diggs."

It's okay little guy, you'll get more exposure fighting this whirl-wind-kickin', donkey punchin', QFC crushin' baboon in this one fight than you've received in your entire career, and you'll be able to buy some new gear."
