  1. So managers can rate the orgs they are in... I think orgs should be able to rate managers. I have some unbeliveably annoying managers in my org who's demands and whole attuide is just a complete piss take, I am now just releasing their fighters as I can not be bothered to meet their stupid unrealistic ideas in who they want to fight. Can't accept that fight, his ID is lower Can't accept that fight his belt is higher Can't accept that fight, he has more fights Can't accept that fight, he is older Can't accept that fight, it's not the one I asked for Can't accept that fight, he is younger (yes, I've actually had this one) Can't accept that fight, I want to train for 3-4 months, sorry I didn't tell you before hand!!! (of course they didn't actually apologise) Can't accept that fight because IM AN ANNOYING LITTLE FAGGOT Do you type of people know how annoying you are, what do you think gives you the right to only fight people you are sure you can win against? If you do this you are a serious douche. I fail to see why this shouldn't be a two way thing with the ratings, managers are by far more annoying then org owners due to the fact there are so many of the little gits.

  2. Had it not been for the fight stats at the end of the commentary, I would've never known that my fighter attempted a submission because his opponent sub spammed whenever we got to the ground. Then it dawned on me, why don't we make certain parts of the commentary (http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/fight/sub.gif, http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/fight/takedown.gif, http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/fight/clinch.gif... etc) either red or blue depending on which fighter used it? It would make it a lot easier to determine exactly who did what. Example: http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/fight/takedown.gif Red Corner gets the takedown into full guard. http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/3333/submp.gif Blue Corner throws his leg over for a triangle choke. Red Corner is attempting to fight out of it. Blue Corner has it locked in deep but Red Corner is refusing to tap. Red Corner has gone limp! The referee breaks the grip and Red Corner gets up and raises his hand in victory. Well done! Just thought it would be a neat addition to spruce up the commentary. The colours are starting to look plain to me as well lol. This can be added onto of course. If anyone has any other benefits of Red/Blue Corners (besides commentary), please feel free to comment.

  3. Because I'm a stickler for semantics (at least in this case )... Fighter hype should never be affected by anything other than winning and losing of fights. Hype is your P4P rank - this is what this entire game is based on practically and we should in no way fabricate it or alter it any way outside of the ring/cage. Fighter pop, on the other hand, is really what I think the OP is calling for, and we already have the ability for fighters to select the 'popular' hidden. For example, a Brian Stann-type fighter would select 'popular' as one of his three hiddens. As for holiday events, I've often thought it'd be cool, but it has always seemed like something that would never be agreed on. Like, what days get the boost? NYE? What else? Super Bowl weekend? July 4th weekend? Is that only in certain cities, or all cities? Seems like if you do it realistically, you create 2 days a year where orgs in certain cities have advantages over other orgs, and if you don't do it realistically, its creating a situation where every org gets a bump on certain weekends. Seems like a great idea in theory, but lots of questions to decide if its really worth it.

  4. http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/6673/kotpwhole.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/1291574022HP_Logo.jpg *When i found out that I would be doing the coverage for the "King of the Playground" Tournament, a 16-man tournament between the Hell's Playground Alliance...and themselves, I had no clue that they were as global as they were. To get these interviews, the sleep would be small, the frequent flyer miles would be large and my passport would be more used than High Hefner's California King. The obvious starting point was here in Las Vegas, at Hell's Balls Money Movers. I arrived and was immediately met by Matt "The Snowman" Mallon. Before we made our way to his office, I completely dated myself by asking him "where's The Falcon"? It's times like these that I realize just how old I really am.* Reporter: "So, King of the Playground, 16 of the 22 Hell's Playground managers pitted against each other. Sounds like it's going to be an intense tournament. Which fighter of yours will be entering?" Mallon: "Siphiwe Tshabalala will be entering." Reporter: "Excellent choice. So, what do you think about fighting against your own alliancemates? I mean, there's a lot of alliances that frown on this sort of thing and even if it is just for this tournament, all of you appear to be embracing it." Mallon: "I'm actually quite excited to fight some alliancemates. I've been wanting to do something like this for a while and now I have the chance to show what I can do, while beating some friends in the process. What more could you want out of a tournament? I believe I'm 2-0 against alliance already, beating Cus Damato and the almighty Wally Balls. Carrying that momentum into the tournament is fantastic and I hope to keep that unbeaten record going in this tournament." Reporter: "You seem very eager to show your stuff. What would you do if you won the whole thing?" Mallon: "I may appear gracious and humble, but if I win this tournament, I don't think anyone will live it down. I beat Wally like a year ago and I still mention it from time to time. If I win this, I'll have bragging rights over everyone in the alliance and that sounds like a lot of fun." Reporter: "There's absolutely nothing wrong with bragging rights, especially in the competitive sports world. How about telling me why you're going to win this thing?" Mallon: "Simple, because I can! There are a lot of great managers and fighters in this tournament. I feel that I'm one of the great underdogs for this tournament, and I enjoy that. I have some backing from all around the world and I think I can shock everyone if I get a run going and if that includes beating Big Boss, I can go home happy! ...*laughs*..."I can..."...*phone rings*..."I gotta take this, hold on a second...". *I couldn't help but eavesdrop a bit and it was very clear that Matt was on the phone with someone needing to move some money. At that moment, my phone rang. It was Luke Daigle. Before I answered it, i laughed to myself, thinking "what are the odds of that?"* ...*via cellphone*... Reporter: "What's up Luke?" Daigle: "I was talking to Dana Fight and he told me to call you. Whatcha need?" Reporter: "Yeah man, I been trying to get a hold of you all damn day. It's about the tournament, you got a minute?" Daigle: "Sure." Reporter: "Well, whatcha think of it?" Daigle: "This is the tournaments of tournaments. This is what separates the men from the boys. I wish I had thrown someone in the tourney, but I arrived late. Now that I see the sheer awesomeness of this tourney, I am stricken with a heavy heart that I didn't join in on all the fun." Reporter: "So why didn't you just join in the first place?" Daigle: "Well, at the time I felt like it would be too big a hassle to get a release. I mean, An intra-alliance tournament? I'm not even sure if it's ever been done, but this is the only one the fans should care about anyways. These guys are the best of the best." Reporter: "Who ya got?" Daigle: "I'm going to make a little prediction here and say the winner will be Jason "Soyster" Cassavant, who in my opinion is one of the most underrated managers in the world. I wish all my friends the best of luck though, and happy hunting! Anyways, man...I gotta run." Reporter: "Thanks Luke. Talk to ya later." *Daigle hung up the phone and Mallon looked to be finishing up. I decided to have a little fun since I have been seeing a lot of trash talk on the between all the Hell's Balls managers on the internet.* Reporter: "Matt!" Mallon: "Almost done!" *I stepped outside for a cigarette and when I was almost finished, Mallon stepped out and told me he was done. I told him I only had one more question.* Reporter: "Why isn't Luke or Manny involved in this?" Mallon: ""There have been many stories and rumors on why these guys aren't participating. Some say they're pussies, some say Luke and Manny don't have to compete since they already run 'HP', but I see this tourney as an opportunity for some background guys to show what they can do. There's guys like Big Boss, Chuck and Khrog who can win this tournament and be named the King of the Playground. Guys who don't get the credit they deserve may finally get the praise they should if they win this tournament." Reporter: "Yeah, I've heard many stories also. It is good to showcase some of the other guys in the alliance since some alliances can be synonymous with one or two names. Well, I'm gonna head out. I got a long trip ahead of me." Mallon: "Where to next?" Reporter: "I'm gonna fly out to Tokyo and meet with Big Boss and Blake McIntosh. Hopefully, I can meet upo with Mike "PSU" also. I haven't talked to him in a long time." Mallon: "Well, have a safe trip." Reporter: "Yeah, I'll contact you when I do the fighter interviews." Mallon: "Sounds good." *I jumped in my 300 and headed to MCCarran International. Flying to Tokyo has never been a fun thing for me but being in Tokyo is.* http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_nXZTHf70dhA/TAUyhzeDyCI/AAAAAAAAALU/oxEprafCr54/s1600/chrysler+3002.jpg to be continued...

  5. If Bubba really wants to fight i think you need to look at were your last 2 opponents came from. The door of blitz is always open for you, and we have people ready to step up at a drop of a hat. If you want competition... with respect to AFC, you already know were to find it.

  8. I'd improve your cleanliness first, than mail all the org owners in the city you are in and offer an incentive to get people interested. You could even strike a deal with a cardio gym to promote your gym for when they are finished. Again offering an incentive. Good luck.

  9. I'm unsure, no doubt it is pretty boring just training cardio but I still think it's part of the game and up to you to decide the best way around it. Yes you can go the old way of 10 in cardio and 1 in strength or whatever and then do the cardio sessions and weight training. Others now like to put 110 into Conditioning from the start so they can train. I personally went for about 80 points and then just did circuit training to improve cardio as well as the rest. I think it's right with poor cardio that you can't fit in as many sessions per week without resting. Put some guy with poor fitness in a few boxing sessions tomorrow and he'd struggle to get up and do the same again on Thursday. Don't really buy into the waiting 2 months before they can fight either, it's just become commonly accepted by experienced users that doing this gives you a better chance of winning. I've fought plenty of times soon after creation with things like Feeble conditioning and strength and still picked up wins. What would be next after cardio, suddenly circuit training would seem pretty boring so let's make that quicker too. Then all of a sudden it's boring doing striking defence, let's just start that off at Elite for everyone as well so you don't have to wait 3 or 4 months before you can fight.

  10. I did give NYE a boost in the first year of the game but then everyone ran events on it and I got scared the site would crash, which spoiled my new year
    1 point
  11. It would have to only be relevant to the cities your event is in I think. NYE I would imagine is a big event everywhere, but Super Bowl weekends and July 4th go completely unnoticed in many countries. I would perhaps do it for having an event on any national holiday in that particular country. I do like the idea though as well, like you say it just may well be a lot of work and grey areas.

  13. The game needs a money sink, let fighters purchase self promotion in some way. This would create some form of new business for managers, and also help fighters pump up hype to earn better contracts.

  14. Did he do something wrong? What's with the extreme hate?
    1 point
  15. Yes but only by a small amount - for you to improve from mediocre to competent purely sparring you will need to around 50 sessions. Also, you can only really afford to spar 6 sessions a week (either am or pm sessions or Monday, Wednesday and Friday taking all of the other days off otherwise your fighter will stop learning anything from sparring.

  18. I agree, Matty is normally a good dude, but he made some comments which were unwarranted. My alliance is more than respectable, not that they had any knowledge of this, and I've done more than my fair share of, "trying to improve" the community, so naturally took offence.

  19. Mannetosen, if you're unable to see what I've been saying, we shouldn't continue whatever we have going here. I don't think you're a horrible person, but this isn't the first time this has happened between us, and I'm not interested in trying hard to show something to somebody that can't see it. People are judged by their actions, and for some to call the move shady means some are judging me on it.
    1 point
  20. You know what, I am honestly shocked at the level of negativity the move and myself has received. For someone who's done so much good for people in the game, I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty hurt actually. But, I'll say with hand on heart, I honestly don't think it's shady. I regret it now, obviously, but I've seen dozens, maybe hundreds of examples where good fighters have been released with 1/1 contracts over 99 fights and two years or more. Anyone who knows me knows I'm not a piss taker, and I really don't think 4k/6k over 5 is a rip-off, as many others have agreed. I don't know what the split is for those calling it shady or not, but it pains me that even anyone is.

  21. No, it's just descended into petty insults and people trying to make themselves look good by quoting multiple posts, when it's obvious what's been going on. It's a shame because most everyone who has joined in to attack me should know me better. It's disappointing because as most of these people should know, I've gone out of my way for a long time to help people, contribute positively in the forums, run a very well respected org and generally be a good member of the community. But, because a few people have taken offence to what is a very common practice, done much, much more unfairly by most, others have joined in, in typical forum style, to have pops or be smart-asses.

  22. I have to say, I'm a little surprised that everyone is making such a big deal of this. Matty, you were right to point out a double standard with regards to the reaction over AA's similar conduct. But honestly, I feel that the double standard is not that everyone is being too easy on TK, but rather that people were to hard on AA (which given the sorted history, is not really that surprising). Really in both cases, nothing that serious was done. Whenever I have released a fighter, I always let the org owner know first and often accept a new (decent) contract and a fight offer. I agree that it would have been a good move to leave the fighter with at least 2 or 3k in his account for training (which I feel is a gentlemanly thing to do whenever you release a fighter), but otherwise this really isn't that big of a deal. And the contract signed is decent enough, you really are splitting hairs over that. I sign contracts worth that much all the time with fighters that get higher offers, if I like the org and the owner (and VENDETTA seems like a good org.). I'm just saying that the negative reaction seems a little out of proportion, and I don't feel that this situation specifically represents a "shady" tactic or something otherwise damaging to the game community. TK is right, FAs stuck with extremely unfair contracts is more of a problem, I think we can all agree on that. TK did something that is actually pretty standard, but in a relatively unshady way. If we don't like that standard practice, that is a separate issue. But the blow back from this situation is a little undeserved.

  23. this is very interesting. i never knew this sort of practice was frowned upon (given it was a decent contract n not some bullshit). i got no beef either way really...i will say this tho. i've had fighters in some highly respected orgs and every time i've released a fighter (except in the really old non-vip days), he was re-signed (sometimes with an accepted fight offer) prior to release and i drain all money out of his account. i usually leave the supps and clothes (maybe delete the custom stuff), pay for the move to the org's city (if he's from out of town) and unless there's an accepted fight offer, i always reset the sliders lol.
    1 point
  24. I don't really see the problem with this or why it would be worse than many other things that's widely accepted in the game. Orgs sign fighters about to be released to new contracts all the time and nobody ever gets called out for it as long as we're not talking 50 fight 1/1 contracts. People pick up FAs to take their cash and nobody ever gets called out for it. People buy companies whose owners went inactive, take the cash and closes them and nobody ever gets called out for it. Who decides what is shady and what isn't? I don't particularly like the concept of what's been done here, it's kind of a lame way to make cash, but so are many other ways and it's not like it hurts anyone. If it was a fighter worth picking up he wouldn't have gotten released again. At worst I guess it could cause someone who would otherwise have been picked up to be retired but looking at his record and primaries that would probably be the most dignified ending for him.

  25. Damn matty don't try to pee on TK org , 4k/6k is a decent contracts and like TK said any manager who take the fighter is free to talk to him to get released , the main issue is the manager who cleary hire the fighter to take his money ,then put him in an org and get some other money ,let him with no money at all ,i think you should at least let the fighter with 2k/3k . I don't think there is any org owner who will decline to sign a fighter like that ,so if TK didn't hired that guy an other org would have hire him , i don't see how you can blam him for that . And i don't think it's the only manager who try to sign some free agent with a lot of money . About MrClean you took the FA and let him with only ,6.9$ it's a joke and it means you'r selfish because right now the next guy who will take that fighter will get screw .

  27. Its worth remembering that the general rule of thumb that mixing it up makes your fighter better is true for the ground as it is anywhere else so some strikes will make it easier to pass and passing will make your strikes more effective. *This has become even more important since the changes to the ground.

  28. they ALWAYS start out negative/combative; if not with the first post, within the first 5 posts. there are generally no new ideas brought to light. (i.e. every religion thread is the same) everybody enters the thread with their own perspective/agenda/etc, and leaves the thread with nothing changed. they generally just spiral into people calling each other "lemmings" or "heathens who will burn in hellfire", etc. they rarely involve pictures of attractive women, like the one shown below: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_XcFdwH4T64I/TBX55fsxX0I/AAAAAAAABWU/1O1_8xToiPM/s1600/scarlett-johansson%2Bsweater.jpg

  29. Sounds like someone shit in your cereal this morning. The title of this thread points to this particular situation, and so does the OP. Let's go through all of Matty's posts, shall we? Here he calls the game community hypocritical for not treating similar incidents the same way. This is about situations like the one mentioned in the OP. Again he questions this particular action and your handling of it. Explains itself. This is the closest thing to you getting called anything by Matty so far, and seeing that he's made a big point out of referring to the action so far, it's natural to assume he isn't gunning for you as a person even if the phrasing was a bit unfortunate. That wasn't too hard, was it?

  30. TK you may be a good dude, but the move is still considered shady. Trying to deny it's shady with some of the arguments you've used just kinda made you look bad even if your not.

  31. You really have thin skin, don't you. What most of us (myself included) have said is that THIS PARTICULAR ACTION is shady. That doesn't make you, your friends, your cat or your neighbor shady. You yourself said earlier in this thread that "nothing is black and white", and still you resort to childish tantrums when people disagree on ONE action they find morally ambigious. Please, tell me what a horrible person I am for questioning your motives in this particular case.
    -1 points
  32. Pretty sure it doesn't matter what you did in the past. This incident seems shady. Just because you are helpful in most every situation, does not change what you did at this time. 4k/6k really does seem like crap pay for a fighter with his hype+pop. Just because it isn't 1k/3k, doesn't make it any better. You seem like a helpful person. A very common name in helpful threads. You just seem to be in the wrong in this case, and validating your actions by saying everyone else does it, does not help anything. If you plan on releasing the fighter if the new owner asks, why not just release the fighter now? Don't know if you said you would, but I thought I read a post saying you said you would. ALSO: As a side note. Those 1/1/1 contracts can now be nullified by their new managers. Not sure how high it goes, but I think 100 might be the line. Tried looking for a source on this, but I am not finding it. Maybe it is something I made up.
