  1. Believe what you wish, every body has his own idea and without the source code or extremely accurate in-game tests (which I don't have) nobody can be 100% sure. However by your reasoning you should need to have a lot of takedown defense to take people down! I can just quote the official wiki: Defensive grappling - Groundwork only. Consider it both sub defense and also a little positional defense. As I said, I'm pretty sure that Submission is quite important if you want to compete with a top level BJJ fighter on the ground, as it surely improves also your defense a bit. However for a standup boxer I always used an high BJJ primary with an high defensive grappling and it always worked. If you go with Elite BJJ, Elite Submission and Useless Def grappling with another guy with Sensational/Sensational/Sensational I predict a lot of troubles for you. By the way also Transition effects a pure defensive ground fighter, as it helps you from improving your position (if you are mounted and very good transitions chances are that you'll get to half guard) and also preventing the other guy to improve its own. Of course these are just my 2 cents. Everybody is free to have its own opinion
  2. You mean if it's better to be Elite Def Grap + Useless Sub VS Useless Def Grab + Elite Sub to avoid being subbed? Well, of course it's Defensive Grappling. I'm pretty sure that Submission also helps a bit, but Defensive Grappling is much much more importnant
  3. For the muscle bulk vs energy supp I'll decide based on sales, no problem in developing a better muscle bulk supp if it's successful, but I need to be sustainable, I can't get in my own money About the donations / laundry thing, I already ordered it
  4. I'd say that it always has an effect on physicals, it's simply so small that it's unlikely to notice it with a pop. And of course it's not enough: you also need to train physicals. It's also true that all (except probably Cardio) physical trainings have an effect on more than one characteristics. The circuit training ones are easy to understand. Yoga for sure affect flexibility and if I remember well also balance. Weights affect mainly strength but has a slight effect on speed too

    Sparring

That's the first time I read something like that. I don't think there are any penalties in spamming the same training for secondaries / physicals even for the whole week
  6. I opened a second nutrition company and researched a Musce Bulk supplement. It says 2 days left, so i think it will be available from the Thursday morning (15th) Yesterday I was contacted by a guy that meant to open a third one and wanted to know what I was going to produce so he could chose the third type (he'll do cardio). Just have patience, it takes three days to order the stock. Honestly I doing think I will make any real money back from it, but I've enough to deal with the potential loss. For what it means (I doubt will be used much) I'll also offer a laundry service. I'd love to produce a 155Q energy suppl in the future, but I'd need 128k.. I don't think I'll ever raise that money in the Island with Muscle Bulks. But you're free to donate, if you want to promote research ;P
  7. Guys, you can't really think to manage only top-tier fighters. It will take a lot of time and luck to get a dozen of fighters with wonderful hiddens. Your goal is not being "the best figher in the world", your goal is to be "the best manager in the world", which means managing bot top, good and mediocre fighters. Just because one of your guys is simply "good" it doesn't mean you have to sack him immediately... you'll still get money, hype and experience with the fight engine with him: have him fight and build hype until you find appropriate and progressively prune your roster of the less successfull one. Over time you'll get a very good roster overall
  8. Yes, the game natively doesn't offer a way to "rob" fighters of their money and it's meant to be so The laundry services, of course, are simply a "trick" to bypass the restriction and are by far the best way to do so. However it's a trick that is considered legit and has been in place for years.
  9. 70% is for sure way too high, it's okay only against a crappy wrestler. Maybe I was exaggerating when I said at most 10%, after all I was thinking about well-developed fighters. A slightly higher percentage (15-20%) can be ok sometimes... it really depends on many things: too many failed takedowns (and with too many i mean 4-5 per round) will gas you out, making things more difficult. But staying on foot against an extremely superior striker will doom you very soon: which is the lower risk? Also never forget the clinch when you are considering takedowns: you have to become less predictable... so how can you increase the number of takedowns... without shooting for takedowns? clinch! Attempting to clinch is less fatiguing, so you can have an higher percentage on the clinch slider. And from clinch you can try to take your opponent down or to pull guard (which is slightly easier but dangerous against Ground and Pound). That also means that if you want to stay on foot.. you must stay away from the clinch! And never remember that setting sliders is not a perfect science, every body has his own preferences
  10. You could start by posting the fights that you are most disappointed with and, if you still have them, the sliders you used. Waiting for that, common errors I've seen in unexperienced managers are: - excessive aggressiveness (fighter gasses out and exposes too much), - extreme countering especially with weaker fighter (your fighter doesn't take the initiative and is not good enough to connect with his counterattacks) - not reading well enough how the absolute sliders work, e.g. takedowns: they are very fatiguing... when I desperately want to take the fighter to the ground I set takedowns to 10%, I'd recommend an higher value only if you are against a crappy wrestler. And most of the time 10% is probably already too much <--- MY HUMBLE OPINION - being predictable: if you have a wonderful boxer and go 100% head punch you'll do well at the beginning, but if the opponent is decent on his standup you'll progressively lose effectiveness. Much better to throw in some rare moves to make you less predictable, even if your fighter is not that good. - weak physicals: many times i saw fighter that seemed to have level 5-10 physicals.... too low! For a 18 fighter a Respectable technique may be enough to star fighting, but physicals are much easier and faster to train: never, never start a fight with less than wonderful cardio and strenght and decent physicals overall... otherwise your fighter will gas out and will be dominated easily
  11. Hi guys, I'm a returning player which just came back after years of inactivity. I had some experience and managed to reach a good rank level at the time, but I had not the chance to play yet with the latest changes, so I'll leave my place to more up-to-date managers if needed. However I'd be more than glad to participate for Italy, if a fifth member is needed. The only problem is that I do not have any decent fighter yet, so I could join only the new creations tournament
  12. As far as I know Circuit Trainings are also influenced by learning speed... Everything that requires a coach is affected by the fast learner hidden ability. That it's what it was always told to me, at least.
  13. SHIG? EDIT: Oh, you mean See How It Goes? 100% towards Follow My Orders.
  14. I need someone to help me understand my fights with the new engine. In all 3 cases I was the less aggressive one (but I was around the middle, exactly like Mike suggested...) and in all 3 cases I never countered. My opponents, equal standup fighters, managed to counter me. Why? For example this fight: http://www.mmatycoon.com/fightcommentary.php?FTID=350079 My guy was Michieletto, the one that lost. His stats (I don't mind sharing them, I think that understanding this engine is a lot more valuable): Boxing: Wonderful (12) ++ Muay Thai: Competent (6) - Punches: Exceptional (13) -- Striking D: Exceptional (13) - Kicks: Superb (10) - Clinchwork: Wonderful (12) + Agility: Sensational (14) + Flexibility: Remarkable (11) ++ Speed: Remarkable (11) - My sliders: 100% follow my orders Aggressive Vs Counter: 50% (Mike said start from the middle... and that's what I did) Damage Vs Accuracy: 50% (same as before) Punch Vs Kick: 75% Punches (more punches than kicks) Head Punch Vs Body Punch: something like 51%-52% head (it was just a millimeter towards head punch) Leg Vs Body Kick: 70% Leg Kick Low Vs High Kick: 90% Low Kick Stay in the outside Vs Clinch: 95% Stay on the outside Combo Vs Single Shot: 90% Single Now, I know i could have mixed up more, but it doesn't seem so much predictable to me. If you say that it's predictable then just remove sliders and tactics because anything different from 50% would suck.. and that seems stupids. There's everything except for takedowns, and besides high kick and combos (which are risky and can't be 50%!) there's at least 30% of everything! My opponent is similar in standup, I can't know every stat but it doesn't have such a wonderful record, he can't be a monster, even considering the change of manager. He definitely was more aggressive, both because he tried more strikes and because the commentary said he was the most aggressive standup fighter. What I can't understand is: he missed all his 5 takedowns (the only one he landed was a counter) and all but one body kicks.... and I didn't manage to counter even a single shot. Ok, there were 13 missed strikes and I have Sensational agility, but with 50% counter I can accept that since the new changes. But then I see that I missed 10 strikes. He countered 2. He was the most aggressive one. Why? Ok, it could be just random... but is it just that or am I missing something? Last, but not the least.. almost 50/50 body vs head punch and he tried 9 head punches and 2 body shot? why??
  15. Can't you let us decide whether to display or not the orange bar?
  16. That's exactly why it would be useful to understand at a glance which skills won't decline and which will... because they will vary often during any fighter career..
  17. The latest addition to the Skill Manteinance page is very useful indeed. Very good job as always But i find it confusing to have the orange bar displayed over the grey bar, it doesn't make immediately clear which skill can decline and which not. In addition there's a problem: if I know a skill won't decline than there's a chanche I won't train it to focus on other skills. Doing so the orange bar will fill completely... at which point I won't be able to tell if the skill won't decline or not. Okay, you can say I can simply try to remember if the skill were grey before or not, but it would add more confusion, making skills that WILL decline very soon a lot harder to detect. I think that making not declining skill bars ENTIRELY in grey would be a lot better. The best thing in the world would be to give us the possibility to chose from the current system and the completely grey one, maybe with a default value in the preferences settings and a ticker in the skill manteinance page/popup.
  18. I quote everything. I'd add that getting the back/none (which refers to getting behind the opponent, both laying on your own back or getting the back mount, as far as I understood) is quite difficult. The same for the mount, so against a similar skilled ground fighter it won't be easy to get such a position. In addition it's quite easy to be swept, so if you are not the superior bjj fighter it's likely you won't have the chance to throw lots of punches... even if I don't understand why, since from my experience of my bjj classes it's a lot easier to be swept when in the opponent's guard than when mounting him. But it's likely because in the mount the only clever thing you can do is escape, so the fighter tries as hard as he can to escape, never doing everything else... Regarding half guard I think it's a good position if these conditions occurs: 1) Your guy has very very good GnP (which means also good physicals like strength and so on) 2) The opponent guy is a lot better BJJ fighter (example, a better wrestler with a purple belt against a black belt... of course in such a case I'd avoid going to the ground, but it's likely the other guy will try to pull the guard) 3) Your guy has good balance If these 3 conditions are met you should be able to mantain the half guard long enough to score some points and eventually stand up. The only submission with a decent chance of success I've seen in this game from this position. There are others but I've never seen I don't think that the GnP from the guard is terrible... If I remember well i've seen some fights posted where the winner KOed the opponent inside is guard. Of course it's the least efficient. The biggest problem is that there's plenty of submissions your opponent can throw at you when you are in his guard: triangle choke, kimura, omoplata, armbar, guillotine chock... in general every kind of shoulder/elbow lock and many chokes, even strange and spectacular ones (did I mention the gogoplata?). In addition 99% of the times you get swept the opponent finds himself mounting you! In addition you can perform leg locks even from half guard and mount. While trying a leg lock from the mount is generally not the best idea (if you aren't successfull you lose the mount position), in the half guard you do not lose that much and could be a winning move since your opponent usually do not expect that. I've seen it with my eyes a couple of times in some amateur tournaments. Guarb bottom is quite safe, but against a good wrestler is never a clever idea imho. Always best to stay on top against such a fighter, IMHO. The meaning of Back/None is NOT that "you are on the bottom on your back with the other guy between your legs"... that is guard bottom. From guard bottom you can do a triangle choke. With Back/None you mean you HAVE his back, which could possibly be a BACK MOUNT position. The only way to do a triangle choke from there is to get at least the head of the opponent between your legs, but doing this you ended in a guard position... with the other one head rolled the other side. You lost any kind of control over his body, you do not have his back anymore. So I can't see how you could perform a triangle choke from the back..
  19. I never completely understood one thing: If I set my fighter to stick Mount or Side Control and I set his Sub/Strike vs Advance Position slider towards 75% advance position he will try very hard to reach the Mount or the Side Control. But when he reaches it, is he intelligent enough to behave like his slider is 100% strike/sub? Or will he waste 3 moves out of 4 doing nothing?
  20. I don't know in MMATycoon, in real life balance is VITAL for a fighter who wants to throw some kicks in a match. By the way my personal experience (but maybe i'm terribly wrong, it's just my idea) suggests me that in MMATycoon balance is also important in ground game. It seems that fighters with a very good balance are rarely the victim of a sweep... which also sounds pretty reasonable to me
  21. Many fight orgs have one (or more) guy who writes fight previews and fight reviews, which are posted as news. They aren't necessary, but they make the whole org more interesting. For example this is the fight org of one of my fighters which regularly publish previews and post fight reviews: http://www.mmatycoon.com/orgpublic.php?oid=1389

    Post fight help

And don't forget about tactics too. The other guy has probably a very high striking defense and if you go in the octagon very aggressive with the slider more towards damage than accuracy it's obvious you are gonna miss a lot. In addition secondaries and physicals are as important as primaries and I'm afraid you are underestimating them
  23. I'm the owner of a gym in LA (LA MMA Academy), with 125 fighters and even if I have a partner at the moment, the nutrition company is going to be sold, so there's a high chance I will need a new partner soon. Anyone interested?

    Mini belts

Don't know why but i was thinking of BJJ belts... and since all my fighters are young no one of them holds any championship belt... sorry for being such a dumb...

Related to this news: "8th October - Mini belts shown on manager profile page, in list of fighters." Am I the only one that doesn't understand what it talks about?
