  1. I think guys would pay more to get exclusive rights
  2. Couldn't it be done just for the net profit of any show? If you spend $40,000 and make $50,000, and a contract offers 5% to the main event, then he could get 5% of $10,000. Should make it interesting since a smaller org offering a % to a big time fighter might get the guy in hopes that being a big fish in a small pond pays more than being a salary fighter in a big pond.
  3. Whoa...no need for crazy theories here. One week of "no training" would equal 8 weeks of gym fees. One post earlier said 64 sparring sessions, so that is around 6 weeks. It doesn't take much to see that one could still have more than enough for mid-range supplements on just one week off. I understand you are grumpy that this guy likes to spar, but all he has done is improved one aspect of his game and you attack him. Not really needed, just let him enjoy his game.
  4. Yuck! The training time was just perfect before! It segued the time from before my wife got home until after.
  5. I cannot afford it, but for the trolls out there, how many 0s are you talking about here?
  6. My god, the Brits have legendary restraint, and someone found a way to test it. Well, I mean, outside of soccer, they have legendary restraint. And there is a forum for noob questions...use that and you will avoid making mommy and daddy fight like this.
  7. On of the biggest money makers for fighters these days is not their base pay, but instead a % of the PPV. Instead of a % of PPV, maybe it should be considered to let fighters get a % of the card draw. A top draw getting 5% of the net revenue puts a lot of money in to play, which can be a draw back, but at the same time, a fighter cannot sling money around like an org can with all that dough, so it might lock up some of that money as well. 5% seems to be the magic number, as 10 fights=20 fighters, and giving 5% of the net means the owner couldn't lose money for a successful show (and obviously if you are dumb enough to give every fighter 5%, you need another line of work). Maybe an option like "only for main event billing" would keep this under control as well.

    No New Players?

It is in part what helped bring down the server from what I understand. The training takes longer to run with more fighters, and it ran over into the fights, and BOOM, head shot to mmatycoon.
  9. He is a paper tiger who has only sparred since he was made. Without coaching, all his skills are only boosted from secondary training--that is to say not a whole lot. The hardest thing is to figure out how to fight him (my guess he is a MT guy since all his successful attacks were knees and elbows)

    No New Players?

    Short answer: nope.

    why cant i?

Something like this happened to me as well. I went to school with the movers and shakers of Latin America. Type of thing you would see were Ferraris on AmEx statements or nephews of presidents who embezzled large amounts of US aid money...you get the idea. So I was in a coastal city in Latin America. I was 17 going on 21, and at an exclusive beach club began getting my first taste of booze. Everyone wanted to buy a shot for the gringo, and before too long, I was roaring drunk on the beach. Of coarse, my Spanish greatly improved while intoxicated, and the liquid courage had me screaming the worst kinds of obscenities at the cops. They were going to take me to a nasty, nasty jail (open to debate whether I would make it that far or drown in a ditch), when my friend (we can call him "Red") came running up. Though I remember little, I remember him saying to them in Spanish, "Do you know who the f*** I am?" "Do you know who the f*** my dad is?" There were several minutes of near-begging by the officers and clumsy explanations on how they were just going to give me a ride home. Most of the conversation became on how they would make it up to me. It ended with them walking me to the bar and eventually my friend's driver's car (maybe carried is a better word). While most of my friends came from rich families who made it the legit way- bribery-I came to really understand that Red's dad was a (the) middle man for moving our vices through said country. Now that this thread is hijacked....
  12. I remember when Delta, American and United use to get in to price wars. If only there were a way to emulate that on here...
  13. Something to ponder while the site is down
  14. I think you are talking about what I call the "Randy Couture Effect." I do not think it is needed on here though. First of all, beating better fighters with high hype gives you more hype. Secondly, it is easy enough to get a lot of fights, but not always a good idea as your energy can really be tapped after these. Over a long period, say a year for this, the cream will rise. If the current system is tweaked, I don't mind, but it sounds like you are asking for a system to evaluate all the fights a guy has had, and it might not be worth it
  15. I am sure Nick Diaz felt that way before he was forced to consider a pro boxing fight to make money. Leave the high school antics out of the game.
  16. Far from complaining. I am giving you feedback because you work hard and you deserve effort from us
  17. We have on our VIP tab a link to the bookies. I think this needs to be expanded. Today, I spent a bit searching for the bookies. Frankly, with just 3, it was rather annoying trying to find all of them. I cannot imagine when there will be more. Even worse was trying to compare odds for betting. This is probably where the real pain-in-the-ass begins. Several ideas for the Bookie tab at the VIP bar: --Make it so you can save your favorite bookies there --Make it display best odds --Make it able to search by odds (to see if you have the best or not)...this might be the best addition imo --Be able to track our bet history from there --Option to send warning when a fighter you like to track has a fight added by a bookie. Maybe I always want to bet on YB Sol, and as soon as he pops up, I want to put a bet on him. A warning would be nice. Maybe limit the number of fighters one can track though. --Make more than one bet on live events if the odds change. If you remember the betting line before Junior dos Santos knocked Werdum out of the UFC, you could appreciate this option. --"sig bets"- manager-to-manager feature allowing us to bet on certain fights. Only one sig bet at a time please. No money has to cross hands to have a good time. Like the feature so far, and I hope it works out.

    Pride rules?

I am against this for sake of the amount of work needed for the fight engine. There are so many more features that would make the game easier to use and manage that are better worth the time, and mike has already said he wants to upgrade the current fight engine. Why sabotage that by adding a few moves that are largely left out of mainstream MMA these days? If you want to emulate Shogun, just don't train cardio.

    notepad

I love that I have the option to paste my tables from Excel in here. It helps primarily when I am on the road or at work and don't have my desk top. I look forward to this being made more fancy. As I have said, making a floating window like those annoying ads is my ideal notepad. That way I can adjust sliders without going back and forth, make notes without alt+tabbing, etc. Good first step though!

    Popping problem

Every fighter pops at the exact same rate. That or I have had 10 coincidences happen, which is statistically scary.
  21. Today, I paid off the deb. The company is set to bring in the money
  22. Beijing would not be based on its contribution to MMA. No major event has ever been hosted in China and no major org promotes from China. The biggest splash China has had in the MMA world is Inner Mongolia TV opting to host (and fund advertisements for) UFC fights. Despite my love for China (I visit once a year at least), it just does not make sense from an MMA point of view to host from there. Cities like Shanghai and Guangzhou also represent urban populations around 20 million, and they still have no connection to the MMA world. If I had to choose any city, it would be Hong Kong for two reasons: politically it is more open than the rest of China because of an agreement with Britain and Bloodsport, starring Jean Claude van Damme, is based there.
  23. I would be fine with this if you were willing to sacrifice some of the easy money. A mid level show can net $40-50 grand.
  24. The Wednesday restriction on price changes seems to be the problem along with the $50. Consider adding a coach.
  25. Middle East needs love. Adu Dhabi has long been the center for the best grappling tourney in the world and Dubai is now the center of UFC expansion in the region.
