  1. WRITTEN BY TOPO TOPOLOGIES Pride 14: The Best I Ever Had PREVIEW Guerrero vs. Capone After suffering 5 straight losses, Guerrero is back again winning after beating a legend in Yb Sol. Capone on the other hand has just had been alternating win and losses in his record. His first fight was in Dynasty back then but was disqualified when he used submissions in a K-1 match. I think karma bit him in the ass as he has yet to have a winning streak in his career. With Guerrero's experience going against the best of the best, I see him winning this. I see him showing us his prime form when he got 2nd ranked p4p in the world. PREDICTION: Guerrero via TKO/KO Newton vs. Bender Bender has yet to be stopped in his tracks. Despite having a TKO loss he has yet to be TKO'ed or KO. His only TKO loss was just due to cuts. That will be a very good challenge for Newton which has showed KO power in his fights also. Bender has been a very easy target for his opponents and if Newton abuses that and keeps this one standing up it will be a win for him. I see this fight going to Newton he will even up his win loss record. PREDICTION: Newton via Decision Eder vs. Jacobsen Both are hovering above the .500 percent win loss record either should be looking to improve this record in this fight. Jacobsen has had a huge streak of 6 wins in astral and PFL. He then followed it with a horrible 6 losses also. He is now against a fighter who's been up and down the win-loss scale. Eder has had trouble with having a winning streak. It will be a close battle between these two but I see Jacobsen coming up on top. PREDICTION: Jacobsen via Submission Brown vs. Salcedo In his past fights it has been clear that Brown has some trouble with his ground game. Majority of his losses has been submissions with just one decision loss. He has yet to be knocked out and he isn't short also with experience. This time he isn't going to be worrying about submission as Salcedo is primarily a boxer. Salcedo has only one loss and that was his first fight via TKO. He has drastically improved his boxing since. This will be about chin and with Brown's granite chin he can dish out and receive damage as well. PREDICTION: Brown via TKO Kimura vs. Asuke This is the second time these two are going up each other. Kimura took their first meeting with a narrow split decision win against Asuke. Kimura did very well keeping the fight on the ground with his ground superiority against Asuke. Despite having a brown belt in BJJ Asuke didn't show any signs of good ground game. This time Asuke should be looking for a early KO or stoppage in this one but with Kimura's intelligence I think this will go to the ground yet again. PREDICTION: Kimura via Decision Kim vs. San Oji San is a veteran of two organizations now is a new comer in PPG. He is welcomed in the org by one of PPG's best. Kim has knocked out his three previous opponents including a granite chinned fighter in Franklin. Kim has been very accurate in the stand up and that would be a big problem for San. Kim will be looking for another KO in this fight and I'm sure he can get one if he uses his muay thai to good use. PREDICTION: Kim via TKO/KO Brannigan vs. Saber There's one guarantee in this fight, these two will look for the knock out and end a fight as fast as they can. Even if these two are strikers they still have some differences. Brannigan has the slight advantage when fighting on the outside because of his kicks. Saber has powerful fists that gives him the advantage up close include his occasional takedowns which make him much more unpredictable. Brannigan has the advantage on the stand up and with his takedown defense i see him winning this one. PREDICTION: Brannigan via KO/TKO Guru vs. Price These two will test each other's skill. Guru's stand up skills will surely be tested against a fighter that has the tools to deny his takedowns. Price can fire at will at Guru because he has the wrestling skills to deny Guru's takedowns. Guru hasn't faced someone as skilled as Price before. This will definitely showcase a sprawl and brawler against a submission specialist. This maybe going down to experience and with Price having more fights than Guru, I think I see him winning this fight. PREDICTION: Price via Unanimous Decision CO-MAIN EVENT Engle vs. Do In the past Jonny Do has had problems taking shots to the face. That problem has given him 10 KO losses in his record but since those losses he has worked his stand up and now has some serious boxing skills that compliments his world class wrestling and BJJ brown belt. He is up against the champion who has been incredibly dangerous. His only defeat was his debut fight against Burns. He has all of his wins coming out of KO's and that will bring shivers to Do's spine. Engle has serious power in his hands and feet which will definitely bring trouble to Do's chin. I see a quick fight in this. It's either the fight will end on the ground or at their feet. PREDICTION: Engle via KO/TKO MAIN EVENT Wesley vs. Thrun Wesley is the first ever fighter to be crowned the light heavy weight champion of PPG. In his stay at Oni he showed some devastating KO power having 8 KO's in his 9 wins. This is his first title defense in his career and we look to see how he fairs against the best PPG has to offer. The first person to ever try to dethrone him is Jarek Thrun a youngster from poland who has been dominant on the ground and stand up spliting his winning record to 3 TKO's and 3 submission each. His only loss was against McNutter in the 3rd round of their fight. This is a perfect test for these two gladiators. Will the young blood Jarek Thrun dethrone the newly crowned champion Christian Wesley. Let's just find out when these two collide. PREDICTION: Wesley via KO/TKO
  2. Pride 13: Remembrance Preview by Topo Topologies. Silva vs. Sizou Silva has yet to find his rhythm in his matches losing 3 out of his 4 fights in the Ring. He is up against a fighter who has deadly knock out power combined with a granite chin in Sizou. Silva haven't shown us his kicks which is the muay thai fighter's deadliest weapon. It is also a boxer's Achilles heel. If Silva still makes this a boxing match it will no doubt be Sizou's fight. I think Sizou has this I just think Silva doesn't have the kicks to stop Sizou on his tracks. PREDICTION: Sizou via TKO/KO Bautista vs. Hisaki The all arounder versus the specialist. Bautista a sprawl and brawl fighter go against Hisaki. The striker from the Philippines against the MMA fighter of Japan. Filipinos are know to have skull bashing fists which Bautista still has to show us. Hisaki has only a blue belt but has shown great submission in his fights. Bautista has the perfect style to counter Hisaki's style. I see the Filipino winning in this fight by a mile. PREDICTION: Bautista via Unanimous Decision Rourk vs. Rakusaba Two great grapplers going head to head in this one. They both represent the east and west in this fight. Rakusaba is in his home turf going against the grappler from USA. I'm sure the fans will be cheering for their fighter. Rakusaba should show us his dominance in his home turf. Rakusaba has the wrestling and BJJ advantage which will dictate the fight on the ground. I see Rakusaba celebrating with the Japanese people in this fight. PREDICTION: Rakusaba via Submission Thirtynine vs. Joe Joe Jr. These two veterans have been cruising in the 50% mark win percentage in their career. Both are very versatile and can win on either the ground or the stand up but Thirtynine has an advantage against Joe Joe Jr. skill wise and momentum wise. Thirtynine has just won his previous fight against Havatar. He has also shown us his tough chin. That should be enough to manhandle Joe Joe Jr. in this fight. I see Thirtynine winning in this one easily. PREDICTION: Thirtynine via Submission Hume vs. Franklin Both fighters have been in trouble in a couple of their previous fights. Racking more losses than wins. This their chance in order to turn the tide. With Hume having the MT and wrestling advantage, I will be looking forward for him to advance and abuse Franklin on the striking. He can and will dictate where the fight goes and I'm sure he will be looking for the knock out. Franklin has the BJJ advantage but I don't see him having a great time shooting for takedowns in this fight. PREDICTION: Hume via TKO/KO Gryzb vs. Sparta Gryzb is the perfect example of a kickboxer's flexibility transitioning into Jiu Jitsu. Gryzb has showed great KO power and submission skills but lately he has been in a slump winning only two of his last ten fights. He is up against a fighter similar to him but a more skilled boxer. This fight could get finished on the ground or the stand up but Sparta has shown bad striking defense in the past which leads me to conclude that he will mauled by Gryzb in the stand up. PREDICTION: Gryzb via TKO/KO Armstrong vs. Higatsui Armstrong is in a rejuvenated state after suffering a 4 fights without tasting victory. Now he is on a 2 fight winning streak and is up against Higatsui. Higatsui has only won only one fight in his last four fights. Higatsui is a submission fighter with 6 submissions in his 7 wins. Armstrong has a huge advantage in striking and he should be capitalizing on that. I see him using a lot of his kicks using his height advantage in the match. I see him winning in a huge beatdown. PREDICTION: Armstrong via Unanimous Decision Jackson vs. Mohorovic We dont have to worry about this match if someone's at a big disadvantage on the ground or striking. Both fighters are capable anywhere they go in the match. They are capable of damage anywhere it goes. Although Mohorovic has a slight advantage in Muay Thai. It isn't a problem since both fighters doesn't like to kick. Jackson should be taking this one if it will stay on the stand up. This is a close match up but I see Jackson take this one. PREDICTION: Jackson via TKO/KO CO-MAIN EVENT Jaffar vs. Schwarz Whenever two fighters fight, usually the fighter with the more versatile approach has the better chance of winning. This is the case for this fight. Jaffar has only one option to win this match. That is to get Schwarz down and work from there. That is easier said than done. Schwarz has shown in the past that he can stuff takedowns. This is a tough fight for Jaffar. Schwarz can dish out damage in the striking game which is where Jaffar should be improving on. PREDICTION: Schwarz via TKO/KO MAIN EVENT Kadota vs. Legionarius This is a fight between two fighters who are world class in their own art. Kadota who's wrestling gives people shivers whenever they talk about it... Legionarius has the same effect whenever people talk about his striking. On thing about this fight is that both can dish out damage from anywhere... Even if you see that Kadota has great wrestling he can also put you out in striking. Legionarius has to keep this fight standing if he wants to win. PREDICTION: Legionarius via KO/TKO

  7. I'd like to sponsor your event. I'll give out the GNP award for the quickest ground and pound victory for 10K (you actually have to land GnP lol not just flavor text). Courtesy of http://www.mmatycoon.com/orgpublic.php?oid=2771
  8. How long does it last? I've been a mentee for 97 days.
  9. Pride 9: Lose Yourself is Pride PAssion Glory's next event, to be held in Tokyo at The Unerground. The opening bout is a welterweight contest, between Allan Bautista and Ritsuko Asuke. Bautista has proven to be a bit of a can at this stage of his career, compiling an unimpressive record of 6-15. Asuke hasn't quite cemented his legacy, standing pat at 1-1. Look for Asuke to use his superior hands to keep the distaence, setting up the eventual knockout combination. Wand Silva takes on Buck McNamara in the next contest, as both look to improve on their losing records. While both are talented strikers, Silva (1-2) brings the vaunted 8 point attack that is muay thai, whereas McNamara (0-3) brings his Golden Gloves boxing background. I'm gonna go with Silva, here, but McNamara does have some wrestling talent that could help him eke out a decision. Carl Sizzou and Diziz Sparta square off in a 205 pound contest that is bound to be a good one. Sparta is a very talented fighter, but poor gameplanning and a questionable chin have led him to a 14-19 record. Sizzou (6-2), has some of the best hands you'll see in PPG, along with a 5 cm reach advantage. Look for Sizzou to try to keep the distance and pick Sparta apart, but if this hits the mat, Sparta ends it quickly. Welterweights square off next, as Masahiko Kimura takes on Koji Hisaki. Hisaki seems totally outgunned in this one. Along with being outmatched in every fighting skill, Hisaki has been known to have issues in getting up for training, many citing a lost love for the sport. A reach advantage is all that Hisaki takes into this one, look for Kimura to dominate from bell to bell. In heavyweight action, we will see Mario Jagatic take on Hans Schwarz. Jagatic (2-5) has a slight muay thai advantage over Schwarz (6-4), but Schwarz's wrestling and boxing advantages should be enough to easily overcome that. Look for Schwarz to work clinches and takedowns en route to a unanimous decision. Hanamichi Sakuragi prepares for battle with Tate Thai Guy in middleweight action. Both men are very talented strikers, but this is another boxer versus muay thai matchup. Sakurgai (5-7), the boxer, posseses a sizeable 14 CM reach advantage over Thai Guy (1-0), one that Thai Guy will need to use kicks and clinchwork to negate. I'm going with Sakuragi in this one, pumping his jab to keep the distance and picking Thai Guy apart for a decision. In a matchup between two underachieving middleweights, Fred Siciliano (12-12) will fight Nikola Asanovic (7-9-1). Asanovic doesn't quite have the grappling credentials that Siciliano brings to the table, but his undeniable striking expertise should be enough to negate that and take home the knockout win. Eugeniusz Grzyb (9-7) is matched up with fellow dangerous 205-pounder Xavier Armstrong (8-4-2) in one of the most evenly matched fights o the night. With little differences in skillsets, I'm going to have to go with Armstrong in this, as he works his strikes and eventually finds Grzyb's questionable chin. Boxing afficionado Tim Capone (3-2) will go to war with BJJ purple belt Sidney Crosby (10-5) in more light heavyweight action. Crosby has great hands to go with his BJJ level, look for that to be the difference, as he matches Capone in every facet until the fight hits the ground, where Crosby's advantage shines through. In the main event of the evening, the Light Heavyweight Championship is on the line as Christian Wesley (8-5) is set to battle Sean Higastsui (7-2). While Higastsui's BJJ brown belt is something to be feared (6 of his 7 wins have come by submission), he's giong to have a tough time taking the fight ot the ground. If Wesley wants this fight to remain standing, it will, and Wesley can pick apart Higastsui on the feet. With rumors that Higastsui's been overtraining for this fight, it'll be interesting to see if Higastsui's cardio will hold up over what could be a five round war. Wesley's my pick, look for a finish before we get to question Higastsui's cardio. -Written by Wade Williams

  17. What’s up guys? Derrick Carter here with the review of Pride 3: God's Will. It was our first event that made money and out first event that had a full house. We crowned a new champion. This card was full of finishes, only two fights went the distance. Let's hope all these trends continue. Pride 3: God's Will Review 155lbs: Kawaji Yokohiro v Chong Li Starting off the undercard is the first ever lightweight match up in Pride Passion Glory history. Both these fighters were making their debut in professional mixed martial arts. With both guys being boxers, Chong Li wanted to play it safe and used his superior wrestling and brazilian jiu jitsu to dominate the fight. He was able to land three takedowns, all his ground strikes and a submission to seal the deal for a win in his debut. Chong Li by submission (Anaconda Choke) 155lbs: John Giles v Yeung Sze[/b] Two lightweights wanted to make a statement in this contest. Two stand up warriors that are capable of taking it to the ground. Round one was a stand up slug fest with the Muay Thai specialist being able to get the advantage. The second round was close with Sze getting the better of the stand up battle until he was taken down and controlled. That round was too close to call, round three was much like the middle to end of round 2. Giles was able to take Sze down with ease and control him. In the end it was a majority draw of a very close fight Draw 185: Ronaldo Muyeira v James Hume Humes did exactly what was expected of him. He landed a few kicks early onto the fight. Muyeira tried his best to take Hume down but he was countered by a flurry of strikes that ended his night early. Hume by TKO (strikes) 265lbs: Juzz Benjamin v Samir Oheat This bout started off crazy. The boxer went for a takedown, haha! Well Oheat was able to get his and it was only a matter of time until Benjamin would be submitted. Oheat by submission (kimura) 265lbs: Lester Beetlejuice v Tom Jackson The Abu Dahbi Champion showed some tremendous wrestling skills as he was able to takedown the remarkable wrestler in Tom Jackson. On his second takedown, Beetlejuice was able to advance to mount and eventually lock up an armbar for the win. Lester Beetlejuice by submission (Armbar) 170lbs: Tazz Stevens v Andrew Clarke Two talented welterweight prospects clashed in this bout. Andrew Clarke was able to use his wrestling and take Tazz Stevens down every single time, but that was just what he wanted. Stevens was able to reverse position after every single takedown and eventually lock up an armbar in the third round. Stevens by submission (Arm Bar) 170lbs: Antoni Lim v Paco Taco Two welterweight contenders looked to make a statement. Antoni Lim and Paco Taco both have brilliant stand up skills. They both displayed it with Antoni Lim getting a slight edge towards the end of the round. In round two and three, Lim started to find his range and rhythm, soundly beating "The Shock" landing punches, kicks, combinations throughout the fight. Antoni Lim by decision (Unanimous) 205lbs: Quinton Jackson v Leonardo Arruda Quinton Jackson was able to redeem himself of his recent knockout lost. From the start of the bell, Jackson was able to immediately knock Arruda down with a left and a right. Two seconds later, Jackson clipped Arruda with a huge right hand and finishes him with more strikes in just about 11 seconds in his Pride debut. Quinton Jackson by TKO (Strikes) 170lbs: Melvin Manhoef v McGillicuddy Jones Co Main Event Two top welterweight contenders fought it out in our Co Main Event. Jones and Manhoef fought an aggressive battle. Jones was winging way to many shots and missing. Manhoef used his superior Muay Thai and landed all sorts of kicks, including a cold blooded head kick that ended the fight; and puts him once step closer towards a title shot. Melvin Manhoef by KO (Head Kick) 265lbs: Freddie Emilianenko v Jack Brown Main Event *Title Fight* A heavyweight king pin was crowned. In name of KING BROWN! Jack Brown put up a clinic against undefeated Freddie Emilianenko, battering him in the clinch and the stand up. Once they clinched, Emilianenko failed dozens of takedown attempts and attempts to pull guard. Towards the end of a dominant second round, Brown landed a big right and left that knocked Emilianenko down and rocked him. Freddie showed tremendous heart being able to make it through the round. Unfortunately, once the third round began, F.E. still looked weak in the legs and Brown was immediately able to floor him again with a combination. Emilianenko was able to get up again but then it was over in a flash. Brown unloaded a HUGE left hand that but the lights out in Russia and crowned a new heavyweight champion. Brown by KO (Punch)
