  6. So... who wants to be a millionaire? That is the question as Synchronicity presents... The Synchronicity Millionaires Tournament http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/1585/milliondollarupdate2.jpg For the first time, world-leading organisation Synchronicity is running a tournament to see who is the best of the best in the MMA Tycoon world. The first prize for this tournament is going to be an incredible ONE MILLION DOLLARS!! This is to ensure that this tournament truly is the best of the best of both fighters and managers. The tournament will involve 32 fighters, at a semi-open weight, accepting all fighters who can weight cut to a maximum of 205 lbs. Rounds will be 3 weeks apart, so injury is not a factor. These 32 fighters will be selected based on their p4p rankings at the time of application. However, if you have an untested project fighter who is not high enough on the p4p ranks to qualify in the top 32 entrants, you can elect to pay an entrance fee of $50k to ensure a place in the 32 fighters selected. Fighters entered in such a way will be entered in the bottom part of the bracket, with the last fighter entered this way taking position 32. At least half of the entrants will be chosen based solely on p4p ranking. The tournament will be started in late October, giving managers plenty of time to make their intention to join known, and to arrange contract release with the fighter’s current organisation. To help negotiate this release, Synchronicity makes an undertaking that once a fighter has completed their participation in the tournament, they will be released if the manager requests it. Equally, if the manager wishes for his fighter to stay with Synchronicity, a contract can be negotiated. For interested managers, make your intention to join known here, or send a PM to Paul Keating or Franky Fin. Good luck and I hope to see your fighters in the SynCity cage! For more details see the rules listed below. Tournament Rules & Details 1. The Syn Millionaire Tourney will have a one million dollar first prize. The million dollar prize can be paid in a form the winning manager requests. 2. Semi-open weight, max weight (after cutting) is 205lbs. 3. Thirty-two fighters will be selected for the tourney, as well as two alternates. These are not expected to be needed unless a manager pulls out or becomes inactive. 4. Fighters will be selected by pound-for-pound ranking, based on the ranking recorded when the application is received. Tourney brackets will be arranged based on the same pound-for-pound ranking. 5. However, if a fighter wishes to be part of the tournament but does not rank in the top 32 p4p fighters, that fighter’s manager can elect to pay a $50k entrance fee to ensure a place in the tournament. Fighters who are looking like they will not qualify will be notified at least one week before the closure of applications. We will be aiming for early October, but it will depend on the number of applicants. 6. The initial matchups will be on the basis of number 1 vs number 32, number 2 vs number 31, etc. 7. All competitors will be signed for 1 / 5k / 5k for 5 fights. If a competitor is eliminated he will be released if requested. 8. First round will be the weekend of October 30 9. Second round will be 3 weeks later to avoid injury problems, on the weekend of November 20 10. Third round will be the weekend of December 11 11. NCs will cause the fighter to be instantly disqualified from the tournament, and the offending manager set on fire :-P Synchronicity recommends the use of the “Book Flights” feature to ensure your fighter makes it to Las Vegas at the right time. 12. If a manager wishes to move their fighter to LV for the duration of the tournament, a training place can be arranged at elite gym The Beez Nest For more Syn news see thread here Seeded Fighter List 1. 7. I think since about 6 months ago when it was changed to 4:1 time (i.e. 13 weeks = 1 year) the pace is about perfect.
  8. Despite losing he earnt a lot of respect tonight, no question. And anyone who doesn't give it to him isn't giving him what he is due. Amazing fight on an amazing card... so good that even Fitch couldn't ruin it.
  9. Yeah that is the key, it stops 1 Str 10 con builds... which when you think about it is pretty unrealistic. You don't get people starting their MMA careers in real life so weak they are unable to lift their own arms, and are instantly tired when they do With all games that go through changes like this, players can either choose to pointlessly whinge or they can update their strategy to suit the new environment. I have never seen a game reverse changes such as this because someone had a cry... and if I was Mike people getting angry and abusive would just strengthen my resolve not to reverse the changes if anything. It's going to be a bit of an adjustment for me because I just started a few new guys and are working on their strength and cardio, but hell its a few extra weeks or something, its not the end of the world.
  10. Yeah I have definately noticed something with my new fighters training strength and cardio. I'm going to go about my normal training program I put my new guys through and see what the overall effect is, but my initial opinion judging on the pops I'd expect at that stage it looks to be at least twice as slow
  11. There was a program called Joost about 3 years ago which would let you stream TV content to your PC via p2p, I gave it a try and via their fight channel stumbled across some episodes of the Canadian promotion TKO. Watched a few of them then thought "Hey isn't this like that UFC stuff?", which I had heard of (mainly through watching Ken Shamrock and Dan Severn on the WWF when I was much younger) but never really got into. First UFC I watched was Gonzaga take Cro-cops head off at UFC 70, been obsessed by MMA ever since. It was also the event where Machida dominated David Heath, a lot of people called the fight boring but I was quite interested in his unusual style, he's been one of my favourite fighters ever since. TUF noob!
  12. Yeah I thought he was going to too... I started getting my hopes up when Florian landed the head kick but Zaka was too good
  13. I'm guessing its me, I have 309... 183-125-2 A little bit ahead of Fat Boy on 297, who overtook my total wins a month or so back. btw Role there are several people with over 100 KO's, you are def the first to get 100 subs though, grats
  14. I've been involved as a game admin and moderator of a large games network for about 5 years and I think there are a few changes that Mike could implement here which would help with dealing with these sorts of issues. It's obvious that the forums have gone a bit out of control in Mike's eyes, hence prompting this change. But if things are done in a way which the membership sees as arbitrary it will cause more problems than solve them. With this banning of Havoc, he would have been banned in our network as well, as we have a rule against "admin abuse". Most of the admins and moderators on our network are volunteers and put in our own time to help the smooth running of the board, just like CW does here. If a player abuses one of the network's staff for doing their job, or one of the volunteers who is putting their own time into the network, that player can be banned for some period of time, depending on the severity of the abuse. Hopefully that person goes away, calms down, and then comes back looking at the issue which caused the blowup with a more balanced frame of mind. If not, players who have that sort of sense of entitlement that they think they should have the right to abuse the people who put in hard work to run the game they are playing are not welcome on the forums or network. I can tell you from personal experience that I was putting in 4-5 hours of admin work on most nights, on top of a full time job, and copping abuse from angry, self-entitled players is the last thing you want to deal with. Admins and mods deserve better. There is no reason for CW to cop that shit from a player, even for nothing more than a sense of common courtesy and decency. The second part which is just as important is to have some sort of system that ensures accountability for the admins. If a player thinks they have been banned unfairly (either on the forums or in-game) there is an appeals process which will allow them to make their case via a web-form, and another different admin will review the case to see if the admin has acted unfairly. If the player is still aggrieved at the decision, that admin can then escalate the case up to a more senior admin or mod, which in this case would be Mike. That way, admins can deal with the vast majority of cases and the especially troublesome ones can get sent up to the person who has the final say. Sorry if this post is a bit tldr but I figured I had some unique experience on these matters which might be useful.
  15. Tito... I just despise him. He's not even one of those people who I love to hate and watch to see lose, when he starts up with his BS excuses, mangled sentances and egotistical crap I just want to throw the TV out the window.
  16. If you are referring to the Koscheck build described in the guide, it was based on my guy Bulk Bogan. He hasn't been as successful as he was at the time, but the concept still works of being able to take the fight to where the other fighter is least comfortable. For it to really work he will need to be a reasonably fast learner, Bogan just looks at a piece of equipment and pops skills so it has allowed me to keep his striking on a similar level as other strikers in Syn, but also get enough takedowns, wrestling and ground and pound to be able to get all but the best sprawl and brawlers to the mat. KO power is a big plus too, obviously. I'd start with a boxer and train up his wrestling and takedown defence, then when you are pretty rested with that work on his takedowns, ground and pound and defensive grappling. Oh and I thought of it as a Carwin build, it was Mike that named it a Koscheck build
  17. That is fair enough and I agree, it's your alliances business and none of ours. However I would argue that Mike has a right to know if people are making money off his hard work, and what advantage that money is paying for within his game, if anything. From the terms and conditions (emphasis added by me) Pretty shaky ground tbh
  18. Yet you haven't got a logo yet... can't afford the $10k? Just messing, good luck with the org
  19. I'm thinking it's some sort of elaborate hoax/troll. There is no way you could provide enough benefit to make it worth the money.
  20. lol you make it sound like a cult or something
  21. I assumed that was a joke, I mean why would you?
  22. I doubt they would be able to enforce that if they released him. I know here in Australia such clauses are scrutinised by the courts with the view if it stops the affected party from earning a living, don't know how it works in the US though.
  23. When sending out a large number of reneg contracts, it gets quite time consuming having to check data between different tabs. There are a few simple things which I think could streamline the process greatly. a] When clicking the "Renegotiate" link, default the reneg contract to the same weight class, number of fights, signing bonus, base pay, win bonus and inactivity clause as their current contract. b] Show the managers name on the Renegotiate Contract screen
  24. The problem is that one of the most unique and effective gyms in the game is now lost forever, because this douchebag decided to burn all that hard work for a quick profit, despite the huge act of generosity in it being given to him. Despite having my own gym and access to another elite gym, I always kept a few guys at Fort Knox because there isn't anywhere in LV (I couldn't say whether in all of MMATycoon) that you could get better defensive skill training. And offerring refunds is the oldest fraud trick in the book, you take some acceptable losses placating the most vocal victims, knowing that only a small minority will ask to be reimbursed.
  25. I reckon the ideal situation would be Overweight: Fight at catch-weight, big morale and energy hit. Half the money the overweight fighter gets goes to the other fighter. Location: Forfeit loss. No funds given by the org, other fighter given his show bonus and the opponents. Big energy and morale hit.
