  1. You must have some strict criteria for what constitutes a big upset if this doesn't qualify. This is Yamaji's last shot at a title in a major org and he never would have gotten another chance in the first place if Ascension wasn't trying to fill a card on short notice with one of their stars.
  2. I don't think Jug looks at rank, just hype + pop standings. It's fine though I'm not gonna trip, he will be one of the best WW by the end of the year no problem.
  3. Meh I don't think Jergensen is in any of EVO's plans to be honest. He is just being used as a gatekeeper. I feel like Jug thinks he wasn't worth the money.
  4. I'm talking about fighter upsets not manager upsets. I don't care who owns them. You are talking about Soyster, I'm talking about Yamaji, who is a 36 year old journeyman that has cracked the top 500 once in his career and may never do it again. His last few wins have been against straight up cans too. Luatua on the other hand has won 10 in a row all KO/TKO and is a top 10 HW. If this isn't an upset what is? It's not often that you have such a huge disparity between ranking and accomplishments in a title fight that is taking place in a top 10 org.
  5. After the discussion that my other thread about Perala beating Wein generated I thought it would be fun to try and keep track of and predict some of the upsets that are sure to come in the future. My next upset to look out for..... Robbie Luatua http://www.mmatycoon.com/fighterprofilepublic.php?FID=247302 Vs Masamichi Yamaji http://www.mmatycoon.com/fighterprofilepublic.php?FID=204560 Yamaji was recently gifted a short notice title shot after the number one contender went AWOL in Ascension. Luatua is currently ranked #50 p4p and Yamaji is in the 800s. Both guys are blessed with KO power. Yamaji seems to have the edge when KO ability, but cuts more easily. They have fought once before with Luatua winning via KO from the clinch in the 2nd round of a fight Yamaji was winning. If Yamaji can avoid Luatua's clinch game long enough to let one of his haymakers fly this could be a massive upset!
  6. There will be even less submission grapplers for one. Flexibility will be the physical everyone decreases to sacrifice subs, sub defense and kicks. We will end up with boxing tycoon.
  7. In my experience when a developer adds features/updates with the intention of fixing things the majority of their users didn't even have a problem with.....failure is the end result. This isn't just true of software or games either. It has happened plenty of times with musical instruments and other hardware too. I am not optimistic about the games' future. IMO it needs to be stripped down to it's essence. Lose the betting/bookmaker/wisdom of crowd bullshit, make training less of a chore and less exclusive and focus solely on the fighting and economy/business side of things. It's called MMA tycoon after all.
  8. Of course he is competitive he is a former #1 WW, but competitive enough for me not be surprised when he completely shuts out Wilder Wein? Not based on recent performances IMO. After the Alvado KO losses he has looked like a different fighter and not in a good way. Oh well if nothing else miraculous happens in the next 6-7 months I'll nominate him for upset of the year. If Perala loses his title quickly and Wein regains his status it would convince me even further.
  9. Man that sucks about EVO. I was sure he would have been granted a title shot, but was puzzled when I saw he was no longer signed. Hopefully Jergensen and Perala will meet again though. Would be a shame to have Perala fade away before a rematch. To the other people that think this wasn't an upset do you still feel that way after looking at my edited OP and seeing the fighter's manager say Perala may have already been declining prior to this?
  10. Really? His most recent fights didn't make me think he had much of a chance against a Syn two division champ and recent #1 p4p that was on a win streak which included a victory over Ricky Rocker.
  11. Taisto Perala just won every round against Wilder Wein. I was 100% sure Wein would take this one easily. After being knocked out twice by Pablo Alvado, Perala's last 4 fights prior to this have all been extremely close matches and it looked like his days of being a top WW were over. He didn't look especially good in close matches with a past prime Rustam Kershikov and Jack Jone and the draw with Moe Lester that followed seemed to confirm he was declining. The he surprised many with a narrow split decision over surging #5 WW Sven Jergensen. I was looking forward to a rematch between the two, but Perala used the hype he gained from that win to negotiate a deal with Syn and earned this title shot for his debut. I'm sure Wein will look to avenge this loss and there will be a lot of other fighters gunning for a fighter that many will perceive as a weak champion in a premier organization. It will interesting too see how this plays out in the coming months.
  12. Aznar Thrul is in currently weighs in the 170s
  13. Is there gonna be one for lighter weight classes?
  14. He is cutting a lot of weight to make 170. This combined with possible low heart may make him more susceptible to being KOed too. If he is intelligent as you say then this could be a good reason to go high counter also. He will conserve more energy, get hit less and his high intelligence hidden combined with his really long reach for 170 will help him counter at a higher rate. You could still use the see how it goes slider too of course.
  15. I hope he keeps it up so I can get a crack at him one day lol
  16. Why would I negotiate with a guy that is sending contracts like that when GAMMA, Ascension, CEC and a host of other orgs send reasonable offers right off the bat?
  17. Every time I have a guy that is not signed this knuckle head offers a 3k/3k/3k contract to them. Like clock work. Doesn't matter where they are ranked. Is he hoping I hit the accept button by mistake? Sometimes he will send a pm asking me why I declined too. It's annoying and I never respond. I wish there was a "block org" feature that would prevent you from being contacted or offered anything from a staff member or owner of an org.
  18. Clarence Mcgee: I'm a little saddened by the fact that Ascension chose to put Ashton Eaton in the top 5 instead of me, who has he fought? I'm higher ranked and battle tested. It's ok though they will change their tune when I kick this bum's face into Row 12
  19. Damn Thrul choked hard looks like I needed that extra that he missed in week 1 due to being a sub after all
  20. So he is not an all time great unless he drops to 155 for the first time to face off with the guy he just finished in the first round?
  21. Can't believe he is rematching Cabrera at 155.... No need for a rematch IMO dude is 38 let them hunt you at 170 don't go chasing a guy you just beat at a new weight class
  22. Thrul can get in with a draw and Larry loss as he has the tiebreaker advantage
