Wellman Junior- Does Benson want it or what? I'm calling him out here and now, let's see what you got. 4-0? I dare him to try to make it 5 cuz it aint happening and I gotta get Davis or Vlady again, I can beat Benson anywhere he wants to take the fight. Are you reporters writing this down or what? This guy don't want it, he want a inexperienced guy, not a top 5 guy like me. Just letting you know Benson, you gotta take on a big boy at some time. Hope you like broken arms and eye sockets... I'm out winks

Bob Jones here witta quick interview with manager Shane Wellman after da fights!

Jones: Watsup Shane?

Wellman: Winning, good fights tonight and Junior got back on track. He is getting back in the gym in three days, you heard me.. No time off, three days and he's good to go and training. Maybe for Benson if he don't duck.

Jones: How good is Benson you think?

Wellman: Not very, layed and prayed for 4 decision victories against bad fighters. Junior is too good for him so I wouldn't be suprised if he ducks. Junior has finished 4 fights and has improved his overall defense greatly. Benson? Boring fighter, decent wrestler, Wellman has improved against lay and pray guys since the Jimmy Young loss.

Jones: Do you think Junior will get the Benson fight?

Wellman: Who knows, maybe he's a duck.. Maybe he's a fighter. If not Junior would like the winner of Pintor vs Saunders even though it seems like ways off. Maybe that fight could be a contenders match, who knows! Pintor is like Junior and has massively improved in his all around game, Saunders is tough too.

Jones: Hows Joe Lack doing?

Wellman: Great, getting ready for the Al Fayaad rematch! He's not ina good mood, wants revenge. Im out to celebrate though at some buffalo wing place, see ya

He hasnt responded to any callouts yet sadly, i am curous to see how he will ft in the division. Will he join and be like nick diaz and take down an established fighter or be more like Cung Le and come in and lose in a ay that breathes new life into a veterens career.

So do we can we get an announcement who the next challenger for the belt is? Is this concrete now, or do more things need to be considered?

It is concrete. Vladimir van Kirkland will be fighting Jon Davis for the Lightweight title. The only thing that is not certain yet is the date. That should be hammered out tomorrow sometime though.

Robby Gordon here ladies and gentlemen with the INY Fight Night 1 Preview.

1st Fight: Andrew Becker vs. Gustavo Aldolfo Norales (155 weight limit)

Becker makes his MMA debut here against the 0-1 Norales. Becker is said to be a muay thai specialist with not too many other skills. Norales is known to be a boxer-wrestler combo, suffering a lose via first round submission to a purple belt in Murphy. Becker is a blue belt, while Norales is a white belt in BJJ so a submission may be unlikely here but you can never be certain when it comes to new fighters still learning the game. I see Becker getting the mid fight stoppage here due to his muay thai skills. The lightweight division is pretty stacked so seeing a future champion here is doubtful but anything can happen in the world of MMA.

Prediction: Becker, 2nd Round (T)KO

2nd Fight: Logan Duncan vs. Manderson Quillva (185 weight limit)

Duncan comes into this fight with his only fight being a heart-breaking 3rd round submission lose. A fight where it looked like he won the first two rounds, he tapped to a RNC with 4 seconds left. Duncan is very well-rounded with his one weakness being . . . you guessed it, BJJ. He has a solid skill set but with a white belt in BJJ which has already cost him. Quillva makes his MMA debut and is believed to have superior standup and has a blue belt in BJJ. Quillva will look to make Duncan think and lose his timing against the better striker, forcing him into a bad spot. Quillva will also have a significant reach advantage considering his height advantage. This fight may seem mostly even on paper, but it looks like Duncan will be getting a second L on his record as I believe this goes to the ground and he can’t hold his own against Quillva.

Prediction: Quillva, 1st Roud Submission

3rd Fight: John Doe vs. Jim Marx (205 weight limit)

Doe’s nickname is just what I’m thinking for this fight. . . . “?” Anyway, we are told he is a muay thai specialist and that’s about it. Whether he is a clincher or a kicker, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens. He will be taller than Marx. Marx seems to be rounded and could very well be a high leveled blue belt in BJJ considering his other skills. Perhaps he will look to close the distance and throw submission attempts as both fighters make their debuts here.

Prediction: Marx, 2nd Round Submission

4th Fight: Alex Barletta vs. Martin Burasso (205 weight limit)

Barletta’s only advantage here is his blue belt in BJJ. Wrestling is about even and that could go either way with these new fighters. Burasso has some real good striking but no idea if there is any KO power inside him. This fight is capable of going the distance one sided for Burasso unless Barletta shows some better takedowns then he leads off to have. I’m going with Burasso on this one though.

Prediction: Burasso, Unanimous Decision

5th Fight: Thanh Xuan vs. Leonardo Davinchi (155 weight limit)

Xuan’s training focuses seem to be muay thai and BBJ where he holds a blue belt. At 23, he seems to have come to MMA a little late but he can still be successful. Here is another case where both fighters are making their debuts so much can’t be said. His opponent, the 25 –year-old Davinchi has better muay thai and some wrestling which might be able to cancel out Xuan’s BJJ. With inexperienced fighters, there tend to be many holes in fights and fights usually end off one big one. I see Davinchi forcing a standup battle and using his superior striking to win this one.

Prediction: Davinchi, 1st Round (T)KO

6th Fight: Randy Turner vs. Todd East (205 weight limit)

Both guys have 1 fight going in with Turner having a W and East having an L. Turner’s only advantage is muay thai and everything he is outmatched besides BJJ where both guys wear a white belt while they train. Turner’s got KO power and proved it in “Of The Night” fashion with a 2nd Round Superman Punch that devastated Luciano. East is your basic boxer-wrestler combo that can use his wrestling to slow down Turner and probably get the decision over him unless Turner is hiding submission skills with his standup ability.

Prediction: East, Unanimous Decision

7th Fight: Ioannis Vangelis vs. John Delgado (170 weight limit)

This looks like the fight where “Submission Of The Night” will be awarded. Both combatants hold a purple belt in BJJ and have very little striking skills. Delgado is the only to have a fight and proves he works very fast, submitting Marks in under a minute of the first round. This is most likely going to be pure BJJ here and might come down to experience.

Prediction: Delgado, 1st Round Submission

8th Fight: Aaron Franklin vs. Wesley Snipes (265 weight limit)

Franklin is another boxer-wrestler and has 1 decision win. Snipes has good muay thai and fair wrestling that may be able to cancel out Franklin’s but no guarantee on that. Snipes took out Lembryk with a nasty KO by knee in the second round but lose due to a cut prior to that. We could be looking at a good fight here but nothing too great. I’m giving Snipes the edge in this one due to his KO power and height.

Prediction: Snipes, 3rd Round (T)KO

Co-Main Event: Hellman Province vs. Jeremy Voda (185 weight limit)

Province has proven to be a jack of all trades with a sub and a KO victory under his belt. He will look to outclass Voda though since Voda is reported to have better boxing and wrestling. Voda also has a black belt in BJJ compared to Province’s blue belt. Looks like middleweight monsters in the making for both fighters but Voda has the edge here and will probably come out victorious.

Prediction: Voda, 2nd Round Submission

Main Event: Brody Savanis© vs. JD Almanez (185 weight limit title fight)

Let’s do these men a favor now and give them the “Fight Of The Night” bonus right now! Third time’s a charm and this going to be another middleweight war between two of the most evenly matched men at 185. Savanis sneaked away with a victory over Almanez in a razor close split decision in their second fight. Almanez won the first unanimously 48-47 all around. Now these men fight for pride and more importantly the 10 pounds of gold and leather that claims their spot in INY as champion. Standup amongst these two warriors is virtually identical with Almanez favoring a height advantage. Savanis has better wrestling but will use it thriftily considering Almanez has a brown belt in BJJ and that he only has a purple belt. Almanez has shown better cardio and pushed the pace in the last 2 rounds of both fights. He will look to do the same but force a finish on the tough Savanis. Savanis is much older and that can only make you imagine what this fight would be in these guys where the same age. Savanis has had a few more fights but both guys should be considered veterans of MMA at this point. Both guys have champions in the past and they want to be back on top or stay on top for Savanis’s case. Regardless who wins, both men will probably be making extra cash from management for the heart they put on in each of their performances. This fight should come down to cardio and I think Almanez can lock this one up for the crafty Team Wright. With how INY management has been, it looks like this will be the last time we will see both men in INY so let’s hope that they don’t disappoint us.

Prediction: Almanez, Unanimous Decision

Our camp feels anytime between 20- 35 days is acceptable, if you would like sooner it is something we would be willing to consider

We feel that 20 days is way to long for this fight. He should be ready for anyone at this point if he wants to stay champion.

It will be the main event on an upcoming card. We will make sure that the challenger is injury free and has plenty of time to recover energy. If he comes to the fight without enough evergy it will be his own fault. But I don't think we will need to worry about that.

We will make the date as soon as we can fit it into the schedule.

In response to Johnny Flanagan's request to fight me. I would be more then happy to accept this fight. Just need some time to recoup and then get back into training. The offer came in this morning and I have signed it already. So we are just waiting on you. And since you were the one calling for it I don't think this is going to be a problem. Good Luck, man.

INY-7 Muang vs. van Kirkland

Welcome to the post fight show ladies and gentlemen, I’m Ricky Warner, your host. We are here today to breakdown the results of the latest event from the Immortals New York promotion, INY-7 Muang vs. van Kirkland.

The first fight on this evenings card was a Welterweight bout between Zeke Glisky and “War” Kirk Hall. Let me tell you folks, Hall has an appropriate nickname. Glisky took control of the fight early on shooting for and scoring the takedown. Now I don’t really know why he decided to go to the ground with a superior BJJ specialist, but maybe he felt he would be able to score some ground and pound and maybe get a knockout. Well, Glisky, you were wrong, dead wrong as he was nullified on the ground. Hall controlled the pace on the ground and prevented Glisky from scoring any damage on the ground at all. Hall was not content to merely control though he actively pursued submissions and frustrate Glisky to the point that he actually stood up out of mount. While Hall was completely unable to prevent the takedowns of Glisky he was clearly able to get the better of the ground game and scored an Armbar Submission just before the end of the round.

Winner, “War” Kirk Hall, Submission (Armbar) - Submission of the Night

“The Warrior” Niko Bellic took on Reggie Coldcuts in the Middleweight Division next. Despite my prediction that this would be close and would possibly be fight of the night, apparently no one told Bellic. Or maybe they had and also told him that I predicted that he would lose by way of a dicision or get knocked out. They told him and got mad. He came to this fight and start out throwing strikes with bad intentions. In just twenty seconds “The Warrior” Niko Bellic scored an knockdown and then finished the job with a highlight reel uppercut KO. This guy is on a mission. Domination of the Middleweight division. What’s next for this warrior… big things I suspect.

Winner by way of KO (Punch) “The Warrior” Niko Bellic. - Knockout of the Night

The upsets continued into this Middleweight fight as Andy “Bear” Bishop faced “The Kid” Bernhard Taylor. Bishop dove straight into this fight trying to land takedowns. Taylor was calm and stuffed all three attempts very nicely and he was able to throw so counter strikes in as well, scoring a knockdown in seconds. Bishop was pretty much done from that point onwards as Taylor began to go to work. Taylor missed with a combination and then just unloaded with a textbook right that landed flush on Bishop’s face. Out go the lights. Bishop crumple into an untidy heap and that was that. Only reason this thirty - four second KO wasn’t Knockout of the Night was because the fight just previous ended in only twenty seconds.

Winner by Knock Out (Punch) “The Kid” Bernhard Taylor.

Up next was a Lightweight fight that saw Seth “Fuse” Hughes and Cooper Thompson go to war. This was one of only three fights on the whole card to go the distance. The first round saw both men score takedowns and working to control the pace but Hughes was better able to score on the mat. The second round saw a much more aggressive Thompson as he scored the takedowns controlled the action and worked to finish the fight via a submission. Good defense from Hughes kept him in the fight. The final round saw Hughes reclaim the leaders spot as he was effective in the stand up and despite being taken down again he was able to reverse the position and achieve a dominant position and from there simply outworked and outscored Thompson.

Seth “Fuse” Hughes wins via Unanimous Decision.

Back to the Welterweight Division for the match between Cristof “Nosferatu” Janetzky and “The Avenging Angel” Gabriel Rua. Rua’s last outing was against Kurt Vogel, in which he was able to secure a second round submission win. This fight looked like a repeat of that fight as Rua closed to within the clinch and began punishing the body of Janetzky. While Rua did not look to go to the ground with Janetzky he did dish out some damage and in the early part of the second round he got into the clinch again and staggered Janetzky and let his vicious elbow fly. He followed those elbows with a few finishing touches and this one was over and done. Forty-two seconds into the second round and Rua moves to three and one.

Winner by way of Submission due to Strikes “The Avenging Angel” Gabriel Rua.

We stayed at the Welterweight Division for the J.P. Damphousse vs. Lee Gerald fight. The fight was joined rapidly as Damphousse secured the clinch and then pulled guard in the opening seconds of the fight. Both men seemed content to control at first after a referee stand up the fight stayed on the feet for a short while until Damhousse went to the ground again. This time he was not content to merely control he was actively seeking to finish the fight with a submission. Gerald was able to fend off all the attempts and survive the round. The second round started out much as the first did, but Damphousse was clearly looking to finish as he transitioned from one submission to another until just before the halfway point in the round he was able to lock in an Arm Triangle and Gerald was put to sleep.

J.P. Damphousse wins with a Submission (Arm Triangle)

Two of the newer Heavyweights in the division went to war next as Brooklyn Brawler squared off against Connor Belfort. I promised fireworks and they delivered, The opening bell sounded and these two went straight at each other. They met in the middle of the cage and started banging. This was nonstop action for three rounds. Both men opened up cuts early in the first round and exchanged well both at range and in the clinch, but, unlike so many other clinch battles we have seen through the years, these guys weren;t taking a breather in there. They were working. Despite Brawler knocking down Belfort in the first round and hurting him in the second round he was unable to finish him and the fight went to the judges scorecards. With Brawler taking the win in a clear majority. Belfort has no quit in him and we’ll be seeing more of him for sure.

Brooklyn Brawler take home the win in a Unanimous Decision.

Former Lightweight championship competitor, Anthony Tinsdell met Shane Wellman Jr. in this next fight. Wellman Jr. Really needed a win to get his career back on track and Tinsdell was in need of a win as well to get him back into Title contention after his recent loss in the championship fight against Jon Davis. Tinsdell was up against a very tough competition in the form of Wellman as not only does Wellman have the superior striking game he was also the better wrestler. Tinsdell needed to land a takedown to have a chance. It was not destined to happen. Wellman Jr. knew the danger he would be in if Tinsdell scored that takedown and so he made sure to stuff all twelve attempts in keep Tinsdell at arms length. Tinsdell, for his part was totally unable to get inside and seemed completely unable to aviod the punches from Wellman. Wellman picked Tinsdell apart in a flawless striking display and also demonstrated that he is not without power as he became the first person ever to finish Tinsdell.

Shane Wellman Jr. wins via KO (Punches)

The Co-Main Event of the evening between two of the top stars in the Heavyweight Division: Kenrick “The Beast” Nikil and “The Viking” Harques Wolfwood. The devastating striking ability of Harques Wolfwood was pitted against the powerful ground and pound of Nikil. Nikil came out aggressively as did Wolfwood. Kenrick looked to secure a takedown and demolish Wolfwood, but his attempts were thwarted. He was however able to adapt and move into clinch, where he immediately tried to take the fight to the ground. Wollfwood was just too strong and he was able to prevent Nikil from putting the fight to the ground. Wolfwood was able to break the clinch by sheer power alone and put the fight back into striking distance where he had opend up a nasty cut on Nikil and land with impunity. Nikil must have a head made out of reinforced concrete as it took almost twice as long to knock him out as almost anyone else that took those kinds of shots from Wolfwood. In the end though Wolfwood was just too much for Nikil to overcome and he took a nap.

Winner: Harques Wolfwood via KO (Punch)

The Main Event. The winner of this fight was already promised a shot at the Lightweight title against Jon Davis, so there was a lot riding on this one. Kasem Muang the Thai Kickboxer from the eccentric Jon Boogi’s stable was set to take on the Russian Vladimir van Kirkland. These two could not have looked more similar on paper in every way. Van Kirkland had a significant height and reach advantage but both men were equally large for this division and powerful strikers. The fight opened up with a bang as van Kirkland drew first blood, so to speak, with a solid body kick, and that was the shot that started the war. These two guys put on a clinic on muay tai firing off shots both at range and in the clinch. The first two rounds were very close, but it seemed that van Kirkland had a bit more power as he had a more noticeable effect on Muang with his strikes. Van Kirkland really started to pull away in the third and fourth round clearly winning both those rounds by a sizeable margin, in the fifth round the pace slowed ever so slightly but it was still clearly van Kirkland that was controlling the pace of the fight. Muang was in it from bell to bell but it looked like he was slightly out classed in several little things and that they started to add up. Both men left nothing on the table and they both deserved the Fight of the Night honors.

Winner and number one contender for the Lightweight championship, Vladimir van Kirkland, by unanimous decision. Fight of the Night.

Wellman Junior- I cannot wait till I get the rematch with Davis and I can squash his head this time around, unless Vlady can beat him. But anyways Benson got scared and ducked so looks like I got some time off to train, I start back up tomorrow though and will be training for at least a month till my next fight. I feel bad for the next guy I gotta face
