Dinooo how do you respond to the allegations that Crassus has been afforded easy match ups, and that the refs and judges have been paid off in all his fights?!

Well if Demon was the most easy guy out there... if i was making the draw and wanted an easy route to the finals i would have giving myself Hofniel since i am sure even Crassus could break his jaw with a miss!

Ascension Quarter Finals

Lee Perry vs Matthieu Benoit

Two elite ground players face off in the quarter finals of the tourney. Both men look the same on the ground but when you look deeper you will see that Matthieu Benoit is a legit black belt. His submission game has went up leaps and bounds in the past year. Perry on the otherhand uses his wrestling like Mark Kerr at the ADCC he looks to control you and pass your guard. His ground and pound is also like Kerr's. His punching power is crazy and if he gets past your guard you are in deep deep trouble. Both guys have showed kind of weak chins in there previous fights so the ground and pound could be the difference but i also believe that Benoit could be able to lock in a submission. Its a 5 round fight this time so both fighters will have to pace themselfs. I dont expect much of it to take place standing up but if it does i believe Perry has the better stand up between the two and could use his strikes better to set up the takedown. Its a close match up and could go either way. I suspect a finish in this fight but i do expect it to be an all out war between the two of them.

Taj al Din vs Budo Rei

From two elite ground fighters to two of the elite stand up fighters left. Both guys have huge power and Rei has a lot of heart but his skin is suspect. Taj on the other hand has no fears when it comes to striking. Having a chin made of steel see's to that but it has been cracked once in his career and Rei has been cracking heavyweights chins. Hes now dropped full time to Light Heavyweight in hope that his skin and chin can hold up long enough to land his own big shots. Taj has more experience in the big leagues being one of Ascensions hall of fame fighters. Budo has always been counted out in his career and will look to once again cause the upset here tonight. Me personally see this ending one way or another and in a brutal KO.

Gristle McThornbody vs Billy Batts

NFC's former champion Gristle has seen two fights which could see him get a big bonus and tonight looks to secure a ticket to the semi finals against former superstar Batts. Both guys love to stand up and bang which is what the fans love to see. Gristles chin has been cracked a few times in his career but has cracked a fair few in return. Batts chin on the other hand has never been broken and has broken a few chins in his time but has yet to finish a fight in this tourney. I think both guys will want the quick finish instead of a gruelling 5 round war. It could go the distance but i doubt it. Both guys will want the under the table bonus aswell as securing there way through to the Ascension Semi Finals.

Degen Gambler vs Marcus Crassus

Gambler has been in the weaker part of the draw and has worked well to get this far in the tourney. Two dominating preformances later and hes now matched up against Welterweight Crassus who has pulled off a lot off an upset to make it this far. Both guys are really well rounded with the stand up advantage i feel goes to Gambler and the ground game Crassus. No doubt through out the fight we will see the fight take place all over the place but i expect Gambler to win this time and please put me out this!

There's definitely going to be a finish in this one. This could be a serious Ground and Pound beatdown for BOTH fighters. This is the one fight that I wish we could actually watch. It's basically Tito Ortiz fighting Tito Ortiz!

I am so fucking bummed right now. Benoit was up 3 rounds to 1 and had Perry rocked. But Benoit totally fell apart and after stuffing 9 takedowns in a row, Perry landed 2 in a row. So bummed. Benoit couldn't get anything going on the ground in those final 2 rounds. Really weird, he's a god damn BJJ stud.

Good fight Chris. Good luck to both Convicted fighters in the semi-finals.

Budo Rei is looking for a retirement fight in Blitz NY, but I'm not sure I see anyone intriguing there right now. Anyone interested in coming over to Blitz NY to fight him? Hoping to fight a big name guy, but I don't really have any ideas right now. I was thinking maybe Grossman could come get his rematch, but he seems pretty busy with title fights and stuff in Ascension. I haven't talked to Johnny yet, so I'm not sure on his thoughts either.

Reminder that Benoit fought to a draw with Vasili "The Pink Panther" Gregorovitsj.

If you could get over to Vortex I'd fight him with Benoit :)

That draw still haunts me. Benoit was a completely different fighter back then. And I didn;'t know shit about the ground game. I had a bjj fighter with no subs and no defensive grappling. Benoit was the 2nd fighter I ever created in this game, so safe to say I fucked him up for the first 18 months at least. Since the tickers came in, it's actually helped Benoit. I decided to turn him into a BJJ specialist and forget about going to a quad-elite.

Grossman would like to do that very much. His tittle fights are over soon if I keep my "flow".. Manager rank 5->500+ etc..

Hey guys, Budo Rei is NOT retiring. My good friend Chris Karter talked some sense into me. I don't take losses very well and I need to realize there are some really great fighters at the top levels of this game and they are hard to beat. There is no reason to retire a 24 year old fighter just for losing to the best fighters in the world. Sorry for the "Jens Pulver" moment.

Simpanssi, you can come get your rematch any time you want as far as I'm concerned. I think it's pretty clear Budo has never backed down from a fight, and Les Grossman is obviously one of the best 205ers in the world and deserves a rematch. You'll probably have to come to Blitz NY to get it though, because Budo just signed a 4 fight deal with Blitz NY and I'd like to fight out my entire contract this time; Gable deserves at least that much.

Sorry for the thread hijack guys. Now back to the studs that are actually still in this thing: Billy Batts and Taj al Din!

Just came back from holiday so i can reply to this, sorry for being late. It was really good back and forth fight, with everything that MMA has to offer - standup, clinch and ground game, along with huge comeback (luckily this time i was on winning side, really felt sorry for Benoit after the fight). Still bit bummed by how some things went, as you mentioned 9 missed tds; with Benoit as a bjj specialist i thought(seems wrongly) he wouldnt have that high tdd, yet he stuffed 9 tds in a row. Lee also failed in clinch to the point of being rocked, but luckily this was a 5 round match. All in all, and if it wasnt for Tosh, best fight i had in a while and one of the reasons why i love this game :) We can predict all we want, but until our fighters arent finished in the cage, anything can happen

p.s.

it was 1-1 in rounds until that rocked moment (1-2 for you with that 3rd round) :baaasmiley:
