Rampage out of 153!

What a turd. I said it before and i will say it again. I dont believe that a lot of these injuries are real and most that are are do because the guy was careless and conscious or subconsciously wanted out of the fight. Here we are with yet again an underdog then anyone can see was in a fight he had little chance to win and the guy finds a way to avoid it. I guess its hard to get a good contract outside the UFC if you are on a 3 fight losing streak. I knew this fight wouldnt happen.

It's not possible to be as retard and injury himself as much , i mean who the fuck after getting injured once would want getting an other injury, clearly something wrong.

This or it's due to side effects of the drugs they took.

Funny part is Rampage has never trained hard enough to get injured in his life. He doesnt do anything to get hurt. Im tired of these fuckers and their injuries. Boxers always get to choose who they fight. Its the shitty part of boxing and why i stopped watching a decade ago. MMA was above that because the UFC controled the fighters. Now fighters are using injures to take the control away from the UFC so they can follow the boxing mold of cherry picking fights. You dont see big name boxers dropping like flies because they picked a fight they cant lose. I think its safe to say that if Rampage was fighting some can he could beat he would be there with bells on.

Blame the money. Thats why i am always against the fighters when it comes to contract disputes. The money is so great now the fighters in the last 2 years are willing to kill the sport and the UFC to try and keep their paydays. To much money on the line to just be a fighter and get in the cage with anyone. Even the toughest fighter turns into a fight ducking pussy and claims its a "Business" so he can still sleep at night.

K guys calm down.. These fighters NEVER pull out of fights to avoid another fighter, they don't get pay unless they fight. And Rampage would have crushed Glover. I don't no if u guys train or have trained mma but injures always happen but fighters now pull out because one loss can be a big set back on there careers.

Rampage was a 3-1 Underdog. Yeah Vegas is always wrong lol. Jackson had no way to win. He is to slow and to lazy. second of all what does pulling out have to do with getting paid? It only pushes that pay day back a few weeks. Small price to pay when you compare it to how much they lose by losing a fight. Rampage is a free agent after this last fight. His contract coming off a win is going to be a hell of a lot more than it would coming off 3 straight loss'.

ROFL. Yet again BrainSmasher is laying "the facts" down lol. Sounds like your emotions are clouding your judgement tbh. Sure the plague of injuries as of lately is annoying but then again real injuries does happen in a sport like this...

So are you basing this thread on a feeling becouse you got frustrated when you heard the news or do you actually know that Rampage isn't injured?

Like i have said before. I dont really follow fighters. I watch all fights for the sake of the fight not really who is fighting. Now big names fighting adds a little more to it but not like it does for others. My comments are based on the trend i am seeing from my perspective of following the sport very closely for over 16 years. Do you think it was a coincidence that so many people had low testosterone in the last 2 years? Or is it likely a loop hole was found and it spread around the gyms to all the fighters and people start using it? This "injury bug" has only become a problem the last 18 months.

Let me ask you some questions.

Do you believe Styles make fights?

Do you believe everyone can be beat?

Do you believe every fighter has someone or some style that would beat them?

Im assuming you are reasonable and said yes to all the above. Fans like to think just because someone hasnt been beat that no one on earth can beat them lol. It never has been or will be the case. So basically a fighters fame, money, career, life expectancy i the UFC is solely dependant on A)random luck of who they are given. B..) Dependant on how successful the match maker wants them to be. So the ONLY way a fighter controls his own destiny is pull out of fights. Simply turning down fights doesnt work very well. Because when the UFC really wants you to take a fight, maybe to build a prospect, they make it public. Like they did when Shogun refused to fight Glover. MMA fans dont like that. Myself included. The only way to extend your career and save face is to avoid these bad match ups via injury.

Rich Franklin was asked to be fight Gustaffson at UFC 133. He declined because "wasnt big enough name". I think we can both agree that wasnt a good fight for Franklin. He would have been smashed on the feet. So he avoids a loss and instead ended up eventually getting a fight with Silva in which he won. Avoiding that loss not only maybe allowed him to get a a higher contract when t comes around but also a win bonus and better sponsor money and likely added a few extra fights to his UFC career. A loss to Gustaffson would make his next fights with Cung Le a must win just to stay in the UFC.

Picking your own fights is a powerful tool. Its why boxers run up incredible records, Even a bum like Jason reinhardt was able to do it to a 18-0 record. We saw first hand in the UFC negotiations how much control Fedor had in who he fought. He did the same thing. Ran off a perfect record. The only way us fans get to see who the real best fighters are and get to see the best fights is for the UFC to have this control and not allow fighters to choose the path of least resistance.

One of the things i love best about MMA is when i see a fighter who stylistically shouldnt win. And to see that fighter change how normal approach and fight intelegently and find a way to win the bad match ups. Anyone can win when they are supposed to win. The true greats find a way when they are not supposed to. I would hate to see MMA get to where boxing is when no fighter has to over come anything. Talented young fighters cant get a shot at the big names because they are being ducked.

Even with new fighter insurances and the "injury bug" around I would not claim so quick that someone is not really hurt and is scared to fight and/or is ducking a fight. IMO Quinton has proved both that, yes he is a lazy ass in a gym and that he wont duck a fight very easily. Also if he/someone wants to throw in any "business man" excuses it's his last fight in the contract. I don't think a win or lose at this point would affect much to his next contract money becouse we know it will be a smaller show than UFC either way and Rampage has huuuge name recognition.

That said it never sounds very good when "The nature of the injury was not announced." as it was written in mmajunkie.

Like Condit/Diaz? Because I know I sure as hell enjoyed the shit out of that fight every time I re-watched it.

Sounds like his judgement clouds reality. Could be real, could be exaggerated, who's to tell. You have to give people the benifit of the doubt. I would like for the UFC doctor to evaluate them, but only a wacko would call a fighter a turd because he's injured. I can't really remember the last time Jackson pulled out of a fight.

I think it is obvious he is going to Bellator. They have King Mo and there is some h8istory between them. Bellator is half owned by Spike TV/Viacom. If Rampage leaves on a good note he can get a very good contract. BUt he has to have some credibility left. If he does they can build him into a huge draw. But he cant have lost to everyone he has fought. Also for damn sure cant get KO'ed by Glover. Which there ws a very good chance of. As of now Rampage has looked tough even in his loss'. He cant take a fight he could get stretched out in. When the fight was announced i was shocked at Rampage accepting it. Because it is clear the UFC is wanting to push Glover because he is talented and the brazilian market is huge. But there was no way Jackson could avoid it and save face. Rua refused the fight and his imagine took a huge hit. Qj bitched that he kept getting wrestlers hw could he turn down a big striker? An injury was his only way out. I never expected this fight to happen. Because there is one thing Rampage makes clear every time he talks. All he cares about is the money or the "Chedder". Plus he has a history of making very poor decisions or beig crazy. He he event thinks he should be paid more while losing every other fight than when he was champ. He is nuts.

Now i dont think a Prime Rampage would ever duck a fight. ut Prime Rampage also woulde have went to the media and cried because he has to fight so many wrestlers. In fact he made his name beating wrestlers. This Rampage is a past his prime rampage who is just trying to get paid. He knows he is done as far as being competitive. The Rampage he cries about getting wrestlers and the Rampage who found a loophole for TRT is a rampage that would do anything to avoid a fight he didnt feel he could win. His attitude shows he isnt confident in his skills anymore.

But this is TRT Jackson, this is cry because the UFC doesnt give you easy fights Jackson. Now there is a chance Jacksons injury is legit. BUt its just like the TRT epidemic. There MIGHT be one real case in MMA who legitly needs it. But the rest of them are cheaters. Now i cant say who the real one is and neither can doctors because of the process'. There for we dont know for sure which ones are cheating. But we do know almost all of them are.

Same with injuries. This sport has went on for a very long time. Not only this psort but so has other sports. No one gets hurt in training like this. In fact MMA didnt have many injuries until the last 2 years. Trainiing hasnt changed in the last 2 years. The only thing that has changed is the constantly growing incentive to avoid the possibility of a loss. Now it is impossible to know who is faking it. Yeah the UFC often brings their doctor in to check guys out. But half the time these guys pull out it isnt anything a doctor can prove. Strained backs, twisted ankles, bruised rib. All they can do is ask you how you feel and tell you to avoid contact for a few weeks. They cant see it on MRI or X rays then they are just going by what you tell them. Many fighters got on TRT for the same reason. They tell a Doc they are tired and sluggish all the time even if they feel fine.

I would guess 75% of these "injuries" are avoidable. Aldo for example. It is rumored his foot is swollen and Aldo and his camp didnt even give it a week o see if it went down before pulling out of the fight. Of course the swelling would have went down eventually and he would have showed up and been the same Aldo we all know. BUt what incentive does he had to do that? He has an excuse now to get out. Why risk losing that Belt that is making you a rock star in Brazil. Now this is just an example. Maybe Aldo was legit. But you can easily see why so many choose to escape the fight. Used to fighters would say "oh, ill be fine. This will heal up in a week or so and ill be ready to do whe the fight rolls around". But not anymore. If it is a dangerous fight that can cost them everything they have they pull out. "I cant compete with only 12 weeks of training i need at least 13 weeks". Fighters look for reason to get out of the fight instead of reasons to go ahead with the fight.

You don't fight you don't get paid. That is the incentive to not pull out.

That isnt the case and even ana White recently said so. Its true you have to fight to get paid. But with a loss possibliby costing you a spot in the UFC or A couple zeros on your check. You will avoid those losses at all cost. People make another now for 1 fight to last them years. There is no need to WANT to get punched in the face. I have said it for years and Dana has admited some of these guys are ducking fights. Something fans refuse to believe from their big tough favorite fighters.

White: First of all, I've been so tired answering this question over the last couple of days. Fighter insurance. Too many events. The list goes on and on. The problem is, and I had a conversation with somebody yesterday – and I won't say who it is – but I was trying to put this fight together, and I'm calling people. We've talked about this for a long time, and you don't know what guys are getting paid, but the biggest problem is we've got too many rich guys – too many guys that are rich as [expletive]. Money is the biggest detriment to the fight business. It really is.

Back in the old days when we were just getting going, dudes had to pay the rent. … Once the money starts to pile up? You've got some of these guys with a few million in the bank. Getting punched in the face every day isn't too [expletive] cool. But when guys are hungry and they want that [expletive] money, and they want to get out there and get more of it and more of it and more of it? I told one of the fighters yesterday, 'You know what your problem is? You're fat and rich right now. That's what your problem is. You're laying around with all your money in the bank. Back in the day, you would have been training and been in shape.' He said, 'Dana, you're absolutely [expletive] right. You're absolutely right. I'm going to get in shape.'

Just to be clear, Whaaaampage is not my big tough favorite fighter. H whines non-stop and has some of the most creatively stupid excuses I have ever heard for every loss. I was just making a general statement. For guys making millions you are right, but the vast majority of their roster is not making millions. For those who are you still make nothing if you take off a year in between fights. Even if you were making 50% less per fight the 3 fights most lower ranked guys take per year still equals 50% more money.

I think you would have to be pretty low on the list of UFC fighter pay. Also i was speaking in general also. Not talking about you putting them on a pedastol. Just the typical fan. Another thing is the ones i feel are faking it so to speak are the ones who have an opponent they more than likely cant beat. Some fighters think they can beat everyone and always feel they have a chance. Another reason i like big punchers. But the rest are not stupid they know the odds and what they struggle with. So even the low pay guys have reason to avoid a bad fight because they could be released. Now there is a fine like and i read an article with the managers comments. How they can turn down fights but if you are low level you dont get to be as picky. One manager said if they turn a fight down they have to accept the next one and it could be a worse match up. But it made it very clear that ducking, cherry picking, and hiding is very common in the UFC at every level. I was surprised to see a manger come out and say that stuff. It sucks to know there are lots of guys turning down fights right and left. But it isnt always an option. If you are low level and you already turned down an opponent and then got some beast. There is only one way out and save some face and that is to "be injured". Top level guys if the UFC wants a fight or you duck they can out you and make you look like a pussy like they did Shogun and Jones. The only way to avoid this is to be "injured" Even if the UFC isnt buying it. They cant come out and take shots at someone the public feels is injured.

When i used to be on fights a lot. I went through and looked at the sportsbook odds in UFC fights over 5 years. Every single UFC fight in that span. From the biggest mismatch to the closest fight. Any fight they actually had someone favored over the other no matter how small. The sportsbooks were right like 67% of the time. Once i took away the close fights or fights effected by heavy betting. When using fights with a guy -200 or better. Sportsbooks were right like 85-90% of the time. There are guys who are asked to take fights they will be 3-1 underdogs. History has shown that they really only win like 5% of the time. If the sports books know its a bad fight for someone then more than likely so does the fighter and his trainers. With so much riding on winning and losing. Its no wonder we have the "injury" bug the UFC is dealing with.

The only way to prevent this is a complete change in the system. From the way contracts are worded. How short the leash is on losing fighters(a loss not being as hurtful as it is today). The issue is in fighting. He who has control of match making has the power. The UFC and fighters are always going to be butting heads over this. The UFC wants to be abe to get marketable fighters to the top of the divisions. The guys being used as stepping stones want that same treatment. The only way around this is come out with scheduels with all the division fighters on it and everyone fights who they randomly got. No exceptions. Except the champ will fight whoever is declared as #1 contender. Making the match ups randome with fighter nor UFC looking out for their best interest is the only way to go. And follow a model like others sports do with team match ups. Football, basketball, baseball. There is always a Champion but everyone wins and loses through out the season. Not sure if UFC/MMA would be successful doing this as they couldnt create stars. It would be out of their hands. But at least it would be a fair system. But i digress.
