Acoustic
Every time I get a fighter that is set to be really aggressive, I can't get off any shots. Does it just come down to speed? I don't have it set to 100 percent counter either, so it's really confusing.
DavyJones
If your fighter has a poor confidence hidden he won't move forward even if hes set to aggressive and easily turns into a punching bag. Having a stand up fighter with low confidence can be really annoying because if its really low they are horrible both at being aggressive and countering! aylib
How does low confidence affect countering?
DavyJones
Well I'm definitely not a slider guru but the way I see it is a confident counter striker will move forward with strikes as well as counter more. A fighter with low confidence only counters once in awhile and not move forward at all. So he usually ends up just being a punching bag. CardiffWanderer
How does low confidence affect countering? I would imagine—which means this is my educated guess—that low confidence means a fighter cannot afford to take hits or his overall abilities suffer (within MMA Tycoon). We know moral has an effect on the in-game fight engine and a fighter with low confidence looses moral quicker than one with high confidence. So a low confidence fighter set to countering is going to suffer a loss in ability early in fights by simply being hit. This means there is more chance of him missing the counter when the opportunity arises and this will further effect his skill level. This has a snowball effect where the more the fighter gets hit or he misses, the more his moral drops and the more likely he is to miss. Against an accurate fighter, there is a good chance the fighters moral has been dropped to a very low score which has a hugely negative effect for the rest of the fight. . Low confidence or low intelligence can have a crippling effect on counter fighting. It could also be a matchup problem. If the opposing fighter is that much quicker, better balanced and more agile than yours, then you are going to struggle in the standup game anyway. However a big disadvantage in any of these categories have effect countering badly. It can also be a slider issue. A generally lesser fighter (in these terms, one who has not trained exclusively for a minimum of 2 in game years) is unlikely to land a lot of counter combos. These are particularly difficult moves to hit.
