Guest
Is there a benefit to fighting right away (aside from $) or is it better to train a fighter up to a certain level before scheduling a match?
markyosullivan
If you're new to the game the best thing to do would be to probably start with a 25 year old and get them fighting. I'd recommend creating them on The Island as most of the fighters on The Island would receive a similar standard of training
Guest
I tell all of my young grasshoppers to have 3 money makers, fighting for as much cash as possible as often as possible and 1 'project' which uses all of the other fighters' cash to get the best training and a subsidised lifestyle. As time goes on they can change this mix, but more often than not by the time it comes time for the project to be unleashed they're so invested into his wellbeing they will buy VIP and then they can have a few projects and an army of jobbers. Guest
I would listen to KRad he knows his stuff and is willing to help all the time!! But if you are going to fight right away start them at
Guest
Thanks, guys. As it turns out, I ended up going with all the advice. I have two fighters that I think are going to be decent and make money, one project that I just recently created after reading up in the forums, and one 25er I just created on the Island after reading the advice in the thread. Now I just gotta wait!! The suspense!!!

CardiffWanderer
I tell all of my young grasshoppers to have 3 money makers, fighting for as much cash as possible as often as possible and 1 'project' which uses all of the other fighters' cash to get the best training and a subsidised lifestyle. As time goes on they can change this mix, but more often than not by the time it comes time for the project to be unleashed they're so invested into his wellbeing they will buy VIP and then they can have a few projects and an army of jobbers. The 3 and 1 approach has always been the way I had advised people in the past, however I have become increasingly tempted to suggest that all new managers start with four 25 year olds, and then make their first cut after 10 fights to make space for a project (or purchase VIP and lots of spare slots). There is a couple of reasons for this. The first reason is that a new manager will not know what style they will most suit them. How many managers come in with dreams of a Anderson Silva like clinch expert and end up as a GnP specialist or want to dominate on the ground then have a stable of boxers. Four fighters allows for four different styles (assuming mentors get to mentees before fighter creation) so they get the full experience before going to be build there first project. This appears to have an advantageous knock on effect for these young managers as well. These projects (like all second generation fighters) tend to be better developed and those managers also have more patience to train them for longer. The second reason is more theoretical but advantageous to the game as a whole. Managers who reach 25 fights appear to be around three times more likely to stay with the game (effectively meaning a manager who achieves 100 active fights) than those who do not reach that point. This is more likely with 4 immediate action fighters. This being theory; it may turn out that the 25 fight bar increases with managers who hold 4 immediately active fighters. Still it appears to me that this method could be effective for both new managers and the game, so it could be worth giving a trial run.
Scooby
As tempting as it is to fight all the time,as a noob if you can learn to make money and READ READ READ these posts it can go a long way for you in this game with patience

Agreed! The reality is though, by the time a new manager is asking for advice in this regard they have already made 4 fighters with skill points thrown around willy nilly and they're getting the crap kicked out of them so the sacking begins and they end up cutting 1, 2 or even all their boys and starting again with a 3-1 style roster. Guest
Do a fighters skills increase at all from participating in matches?
Guest
You get a conditioning increase from fighting, I don't believe there is any other skills increase during a fight though.
Guest
I know when I first started I had already make 4 fighters and they all sucked bad. So maybe these guys asking for help hopefully before they made all the fighters is smarter than I was! But it helps having KRad in my corner

CharlesLeeRay
My first 4 fighters were all based on boxer's beginners template. They were not really good but they were not shitty either. When creating a new fighter, it should link first in the beginner mode because a noob may not see the beginner templates at all.
MMATycoon
I do want to implement skill gains from fights fairly soon. Not big increases but decent.
Guest
Is there a benefit to fighting right away (aside from $) or is it better to train a fighter up to a certain level before scheduling a match? it should depends on what org your fighter is in. If he fights in a new org with rookie opponents...then he could fight right away,i think. The skill gains from fights is an interesting idea.

Guest
I wouldn't mind if they had those tournaments for lesser hyped fighters, like the ones that they have for fighters created within one day. I just think that would be good, or maybe for fighters up to 3 days old. I dont know if this makes sense.
Guest
Yeah, ongoing game made tournaments would be fun.
