Darren McCarty v Boss Godfrey

My prediction for this one is that McCarty will want to throw kicks from a distance, while Godfrey will try to clinch up and do his damage from in close. The guy who dictates the position of this fight will probably win.

lude with a slugfest. Hopefully both men bite down on their mouth pieces and swing for the fences.

Boss “The Man With No Eyes” Godfrey v. Darren McCarty

McCarty took the fight into the clinch and Godfrey took the control from there. 1st round TKO.

Godfery:I just snacked and saw red when he started talking to the press.Maybe he was high but when he started talking how i dominated and won my fight I lost it.I got humiliated in that fight by Darren McCarty.Bruce leroy talking how i dominated that fight just press a button in my brain.

Bismarck De Jager v. Timmy “Robinson” The Gun

205 lbs.

The $1.5 Million double elimination tournament has finally completely the first round of action and it only took four cards! Pretty solid. The Gun took down De Jager in a five round decision and moves on to round two of the tournament. De Jager will look to bounce back in the revenge round.

Just a little reminder of what you guys are competing for (other than the cash, of course). Here is the new NEX title belt that will be handed out to the winners of each weight class:

NEX Welterweight Warzone 2

20.08.2014

Hayashi's Lounge - Hilo (2,000)

Hilo

MMA

The first round of the $1.5 million NEX Double Elimination tournament is finally finished. Tonight, the second round opens. Eight men aim to remain undefeated, while another eight look to get back on track in the Revenge side of the bracket. Let's see how things are shaping up.

Revenge: Round 1

Welterweight Division

Cameron Dollar v Dark Conqueror

We kick off the action with two guys who suffered KO losses in the opening round. Dollar has the edge in wrestling, so he may attempt to do what he couldn't in the opening round: score a takedown. Conqueror will be trying his best to stop that, because boxing is where he has the clear advantage. Who will stay alive, and who will be the first man eliminated from the tournament?

Revenge: Round 1

Welterweight Division

Shawn Williams v The Shadow

In the opening round, both of these guys suffered TKO losses because they had the fight dictated to them. The Shadow got pounded out on the ground, while Williams was clinch-mauled. In this one, it seems likely that these two natural boxers will stand at a distance and trade shots. The fans should be on their feet from the opening bell until the moment one man gets his lights turned out.

Revenge: Round 1

Welterweight Division

Jack Jericho v Conan Foley

Jack Jericho must have been heartbroken after his opening round loss. After battling three hard rounds that ended in a draw, he got knocked out in the rematch. Conan Foley also got knocked out in the opening round and will be hoping to rebound. Both men seem to have very clear paths to victory. Jericho needs to look for the takedown and ground and pound, while Foley needs to punch him in the face before he can do so.

Revenge: Round 1

Welterweight Division

James Edin v Sean Avery

In the fast fight of the Revenge round, we have two ground specialists. I doubt either man plans to throw a punch on the feet in this one. They'll be looking to take top position on the mat, then look for the ground and pound or submission once they get there. It is possible that we might see the first submission of the welterweight tournament.

Round 2

Welterweight Division

Eric Wareheim v Shank Stevens

We are stepping into the winner's bracket now. Shank Stevens won his opening round fight with his ground and pound. Wareheim did it on the feet. Both will look to execute the exact same game plan as last time because it plays into the weakness of the other. It should be interesting to see who pulls it off and who gets banished to the Revenge round.

Round 2

Welterweight Division

Tinker Bell v Bennet Benoit

Tinker Bell used devastating elbows to bloody his opponent last fight, while Benoit took his man down and pounded him out. Both have a wrestling pedigree that usually allows them to dictate the positioning of the fight, so it will be interesting to see who can control the action and remain in the winner's bracket.

Round 2

Welterweight Division

Tony Jaa v De Bruyne

It took Tony Jaa two fights to get to this point. It only took De Bruyne two minutes. Will the extra training time give De Bruyne the edge, or will the added experience of an extra fight tip the scales in Jaa's favor. Either way, one of these warriors will be leaving with a much easier path to the championship than the other.

Round 2

Welterweight Division

Ivar Lothbrokson v Harold Hamilton

The tournament portion of tonight's card concludes with a battle of two punchers. Both scored first round knockouts the last time they fought. Hamilton will want to strike from a distance and avoid the deadly clinch game of Lothbrokson in this one.

Co-Main Event

Middleweight Division

Tyrone Boone v Matt Williams

We should see fireworks in this one. The undefeated Tyrone Boone debuts in NEX after breezing through the early part of his career with devastating head kicks. Matt Williams is hoping to take his zero away with a strong boxing game that has seen him finish three men by TKO. It has been proven that he can be knocked out, however, so Boone should be considered the favorite.

Main Event

Middleweight Championship

http://i61.tinypic.com/x5bn1u.png

Yogi Dhamma v Authority Zelditeez

This is the prize that the tournament fighters are striving after: a NEX championship belt. Both of these men are undefeated deep into their careers. Dhamma, the challenger, has submitted his opponent in the first round of all eight career fights. Zelditeez is no slouch on the ground, though. He has six submission wins of his own, along with four decision wins in which he used the mat to control his opponent. One of these men is going to lose for the very first time, and the other will leave as the undisputed NEX middleweight champion.

NEX Light Heavyweight Havoc 2

23.08.2014

Hyashi's Lounge - Sydney (2,000)

Hilo

MMA

The light heavyweights are back in action tonight for the second round of their side of the bracket. Eight men will move one step closer to the championship, four will take a step backwards, and four will be eliminated.

Undercard

Heavyweight Division

Bobby Marshall v Monty Python

Before we get to the tournament fights, we need to get warmed up. What better way to do that than to get the big boys in the cage. These two will probably look to keep it standing, giving the fans the kind of slugfest that they desire.

Revenge: Round 1

Light Heavyweight Division

Bismarck De Jager v Rick Wall

Rick Wall has opted to retire from professional fighting, giving Bismarck De Jager a win by forfeit. He'll advance into the second round of the Revenge bracket.

Revenge: Round 1

Light Heavyweight Division

Boss Godfrey v Tim Kennedy

Unfortunately, Tim Kennedy's manager lost his VIP, causing Kennedy to be released. Without a manager, he couldn't agree to his fight, meaning that Godfrey will advance, while Kennedy will be eliminated.

Revenge: Round 1

Light Heavyweight Division

Dark Infection v Anta Gonista

Enough with the forfeits. Let's get to scrappin'. Infection has the clear grappling advantage in this one, while Gonista is the much better striker. Which man will be able to impose his game plan and grab his first career win?

Revenge: Round 1

Light Heavyweight Division

Reginald Spector v Stannis Baratheon

Both of these men were knocked out in their first fights. Since they are both white belts, it is a pretty sure thing that they will both be looking to add a knockout of their own to their fight histories. Spector will want to do it on the feet, while Baratheon will look for ground and pound.

Round 2

Light Heavyweight Division

Ren Hitogoroshi v Timmy The Gun

We are stepping into the winner's bracket now. Timmy The Gun needed two fights to reach this point after battling to a draw in the opening round. He'll hope that the extra experience outweighs the loss of training time as he tries to neutralize the striking of Hitogoroshi.

Round 2

Light Heavyweight Division

Tyler Tepper v Lance Bishop

We have a battle of wonderful wrestlers in this one. You don't often see two 18 year olds with such wrestling pedigrees outside of the NCAA, so NEX fans are in for a treat. It should be a grappling dream match. Neither guy will be keen on heading to the Revenge bracket, but someone needs to.

Round 2

Kight Heavyweight Division

The Gun v Mason Storm

Gun was pretty brutal in the clinch in his opening fight. That is something Mason Storm will need to avoid. Fighting at a distance is clearly his most advantageous scenario in this one.

Round 2

Light Heavyweight Division

Guns Malone v Darren McCarty

McCarty likes to fight in the clinch, while Malone is more suited to punishing his opponent from the top position on the ground. One man will advance, while another is headed to the Revenge bracket in another classic style vs style match here in NEX

Main Event

Lightweight Championship

http://i61.tinypic.com/x5bn1u.png

Vincent Oketch v Ricardo Smith

This is the first time that Oketch will get to walk to the ring wearing the shiny new NEX title belt. He has to be considered the favorite against Ricardo Smith, as he seems to be equal or greater in all aspects of fighting. However, they seem about dead even in the skill of their choice (BJJ), so you never know what could happen. It should be entertaining.

The second round of the tournament is complete in both weight classes. Things are really starting to get interesting now. Eight of the original thirty two men have now been eliminated, leaving us with 24 guys competing for championship glory and a big payday.

Bruce Leroy will be producing a review of this week's action, but in the meantime, you can check out the brackets to see where everybody stands:

NEX Welterweight Warzone 3

06.09.2014

Hard Knocks - Hilo (3,000)

Hilo

MMA

The welterweight side of our $1.5 million tournament is entering the third round. We only have four men left in the winner's bracket, with eight hoping to take advantage of the second chance that the revenge bracket provides. Intriguing lightweight and middleweight bouts fill out the card.

Undercard

Middleweight Division

Anssi Manninen v Eyden Pargrathian

Reports out of Manninen's camp are that Manninen has had a difficult camp and is struggling with his weight. Hopefully, his management helps him get things under control so that he can make weight for this fight against the wrestler Pargrathian.

Undercard

Lightweight Division

Owen Collins v Jared Donisvitch

Collins is still looking to break into the win column in his career. He brings a balanced attack at the boxer Donisvitch, who will clearly be hoping to win by KO.

Revenge: Round 2

Welterweight Division

Tinker Bell v Dark Conqueror

These two specialists managed to stay alive by executing the way that they want to in the last round. Both will be in similar positions again this round, with Bell hoping to use his wrestling to win on the mat and Conqueror hoping to score a KO before that can happen.

Revenge: Round 2

Welterweight Division

Harold Hamilton v Conan Foley

We have another wrestler versus boxer matchup in this one, with Hamilton hoping that he gets the fight to the ground where he can pound out Foley. On the feet, Foley has a clear edge, so he hopes it stays there.

Revenge: Round 2

Welterweight Division

Tony Jaa v Sean Avery

Tony Jaa has had a tough path so far in the tournament, but has managed to remain in it. This is already his fourth bout, so the battle tested warrior will hope to stay alive. Both men know how to wrestle and have used that effectively in the past. Will they try to out-wrestle each other, or will one man try to win it standing up?

Revenge: Round 2

Welterweight Division

Shank Stevens v The Shadow

I doubt this one is hitting the floor. Both of these guys have a KO win and a KO loss. It is safe to say that this fight will end in a finish, one way or another. Stevens employs a Muay Thai-first attacking strategy, while Shadow is a pure boxer.

Quarterfinals

Welterweight Division

Eric Wareheim v Ivar Lothbrokson

From skills alone, this looks like another striker vs grappler matchup. However, Lothbrokson has chosen to surprise everyone and fight standup so far in this tournament. Not only has he tried it, but he has done it well. Will he look to go toe to toe with striker, or will he finally aim to take the fight to the ground? Only time will tell.

Quarterfinals

Welterweight Division

De Bruyne v Bennet Benoit

These guys are finishers. Combined, they are a perfect 4 for 4 finishing fights. These two warriors will look to extend the streak on the feet, with one man going to sleep.

Co-Main Event

Lightweight Division

Darwin Dorsey v Takeshi Fujiwara

Dorsey started his career slow, but is making his NEX debut coming off of back to back wins. A third win in a row will put him among the contenders in the wide open lightweight division. Standing in his way is Fujiwara, who has had an even more incredible turnaround. After starting 0-2, he has reeled off three straight. One man will see him momentum slowed, while another will take a step towards the title.

Main Event

Middleweight Division

Tyrone Boone v Alex Jerry Lee

Boone has finished all of his fights by KO. Lee has finished his by submission. Neither man wants his streak to end. Rumor has it that Boone gets a title shot with a win here, so he should be extra motivated.

NEX Welterweight Warzone 3

06.09.14

Hard Knocks - Hilo (2442)

MMA

Undercard

Eyden Pargrathian v. Anssi Manninen

185 lbs.

Pargrathian took Manninen out in the 2nd round with a TKO victory from ground and pound.

Owen Collins v. Jared Donisvitch

155 lbs.

Collins submitted Donisvitch in the 1st round with a slick rear naked choke.

Welterweight Warzone Tournament

Revenge: Round 2

Tinker Bell v. Dark Conqueror

Tinker Bell gave Conqueror a nasty cut early on in the 1st round and the doctor called a stop to the fight as a result. Tinker Bell moves on to Revenge: Round 3

Harold Hamilton v. Conan Foley

Hamilton got the 1st round stoppage over Foley via ground and pound. He moves on the Revenge: Round 3

Tony Jaa v. Sean Avery

Another ground and pound 1st round finish here as Sean Avery moves on to Revenge: Round 3.

Shank Stevens v. The Shadow

The shadow laid out Stevens in the 1st round with a set of KO punches. He will move on the Revenge: Round 3

Welterweight Warzone Tournament

Quarterfinals

Eric Wareheim v. Ivar Lothbrokson

There was a lot of hype for Wareheim coming into this fight, mostly coming from himself but hype is hype I guess. Lothbrokson gave no fucks about hype and proceeded to pound Wareheim’s face into something resembling a nuclear disaster. All of his strikes were landed in the clinch and he escaped in the 2nd round with a TKO victory to put him into the semi-finals of the Welterweight Warzone Tournament. With only having one fight go the distance so far, Lothbrokson should be well trained and without and serious injuries. We will see if it will be an advantage.

De Bruyne v. Bennet Benoit

Bruyne continues his torching of opponents in the Welterweight Warzone Tournament. His quarterfinal matchup against Benoit ended in the first round with his 3rd straight TKO. Bruyne scored most of his punches in the clinch, but ultimately forced the ref to step in with strikes outside of the clinch. Bruyne has made his route to the semifinals look easy, but he will face his steepest competition in the semi-finals. He hasn’t had a single fight go the distance and will no doubt be looking to end the next one quick.

Co-Main Event

Takeshi Fujiwara v. Darwin Dorsey

155 lbs.

Fujiwara was given the honor of welcoming Dorsey to NEX and the welcome party didn’t last long. This fight between two Muay Thai fighters was sure to be a stand up battle and if Dorsey got his way, it would be over quickly. Dorsey got his way, they traded shots on the feet for a couple minutes but the power of Dorsey was just too much for Fujiwara to handle. Dorsey bursts into the NEX scene knocking off a top competitor. He could be just a fight or two away from the Light Heavyweight Title.

Main Event

Alex Jerry Lee v. Tyrone Boone

185 lbs.

The Main Event saw two of the top middleweights in NEX throwdown. Boone went with his usual strategy of throwing a lot of kicks against the grappler Lee. Lee was able to take Boone down in the 1st round but couldn’t quite manage any submissions. The 2nd round was a different story after Lee successfully executed a double leg takedown. He seemed determined to end the find and not end up standing with Boone again. Midway through the 2nd round, Lee slapped on a rear naked choke and Boone was forced to tap. This win brings Lee’s professional record to 3-0 and places him in the top of the division rankings. He could be future champ in no time if he plays his cards right.

Hard Knocks - Sydney (2451)

MMA

UNDERCARD

Andrew Morgan v. Teddy Barton

185 lbs.

Teddy Barton finished Morgan in the 1st round via rear naked choke.

Light Heavyweight Havoc Tournament

Revenge: Round 2

Boss Godfrey v. Tyler Tepper

Boss Godfrey won a dominant decision over Tepper.

Bismarck De Jager v. Mason Storm

Mason Storm dropped De Jager in the 3rd round with a devastating hook.

Anta Gonista v. Guns Malone

Malone ended this one in the 1st round with ground and pound from mount.

Timmy The Gun v. Reginald Spector

The Gun added to the 1st round stoppage list with a TKO victory over Spector.

MAIN CARD

Edward Folayang v. Tommy Hold

155 lbs.

Hold shot out of the gate looking for takedowns and Folayang stuffed three of them before mounting his offense. Exactly one head punch, one body punch, one punch combo, one head kick, one leg kick, and one body kick later, Hold was waking up with the doctor in his face. Folayang has been trading wins and victories. Hopefully he can get a win streak going. He took down an NEX vet who found early success. That should give him some confidence heading into his next fight.

Light Heavyweight Havoc Tournament

Round 3

The Gun v. Lance Bishop

As the tournament goes on, you have to wonder how the lack of recovery time will affect fighters. These two fighters have had similar paths leading up to this matchup. Both finished their opening round opponent in the 1st round, but were unable to finish at all in the second round of the tournament. Both fighter were fresh for this bout and both seemed hungry to go on to the semifinals. The Gun was able to keep the fight standing and tag Bishop with a few punches, but he could only stuff three takedowns before sucumbing to the wrestling of Bishop. Bishop began the grappling session on top, but after failing at a heel hook, he ended up on bottom where he probably preferred to be. I say that because he promptly finished the fight with a guillotine… FROM HIS BACK… Lance Bishop will be easing on down the road to the semi-finals.

Darren McCarty v. Ren Hitogoroshi

McCarty’s total fight time going into this tournament fight totalled less than one round. Hitogoroshi went the distance in a fight of the night matchup. Nonetheless HItogoroshi finds himself in Round 3 of the Light Heavyweight Havoc tournament and it’s put up or shut up. Hitogoroshi didn’t seem to come into this fight in the best of shape and he was completely dominated for 3 minutes before being KO’d. McCarty did damage in the clinch after it was initiated by HItogoroshi in the opening seconds. Once McCarty was able to break free of the clinch, he went to work and picked his opponent apart until the ref wouldn’t allow him to go on. Darren McCarty will meet Lance Bishop in the Light Heavyweight Havoc semi-final to see who will go to the final match and await the winner of the Revenge bracket.

Bryan Danielson v. Landon Barca

155 lbs.

This fight started with a very close 1st round that saw Barca score on the feet before getting taken down and controlled for the rest of the round. The 2nd round looked similar to the 1st but Danielson took the fight to the mat sooner and was all about this finish this time around. Barca’s ground game was no match mor Danielson and he was able to have his way on top. Shortly after a takedown Danielson initiate the ground and pound and Barca couldn’t handle anymore punishment one minute into it. Danielson get’s his third victory in a row under the NEX banner and now sits at 4-0 overall. The champion defends his belt later this month. Danielson may be just one win away from earning a shot.

MAIN EVENT

Mark Kalaway v. Alex Rouge

155 lbs.

Alex Rouge is on a very impressive streak in NEX. Coming into this fight, he had already racked up two knockout of the night bonuses as well as a fight of the night bonus. Kalaway would not doubt have to avoid the lethal head kicks of Rouge if he was to take home a victory. Unfortunately, that head kick of Rouge’s reared it’s ugly head in the first minute of the fight. He landed two and that was all it took to put Kalaway away in his NEX debut. Kalaway was riding a 4 fight win streak, but will have to start all over as Rouge improves his streak to three, all head kick KOs.

Now that I'm back from my vacation, I'll give a little update on the current situation in the two sides of this tournament.

NEX Welterweight Warzone

We started with sixteen competitors, and we are now down to six. The remaining men in the tournament are:

Ivar Lothbrokson

De Bruyne

Eric Wareheim

Sean Avery

Bennet Benoit

The Shadow

Both Lothbrokson and De Bruyne are sitting at a perfect 3-0 in the tournament. They will meet each other on October 11, with the winner heading to the final on December 3, and the loser heading to the Revenge finals on November 15.

The other four men have tasted defeat, and didn't like it one bit. They are trying to avenge themselves and make it back to the finals. Wareheim will face Avery on October 11, while Benoit will take on The Shadow. The winners will face each other, while the losers will be finished.

Those two winners will fight on October 29. The winner will advance to the Revenge final on November 15, where he will face the loser of Lothbrokson and De Bruyne.

You can view the complete tournament bracket here: http://challonge.com/nexwarzone

NEX Light Heavyweight Havoc

Just like the welterweights, only six of the original sixteen are still alive. They are:

Lance Bishop

Darren McCarty

The Godfather

Timmy The Gun

Ren Hitogoroshi

Mason Storm

Our undefeated semifinalists are Bishop and McCarty. They will square off on October 15, with a championship fight on December 6 going to the winner. The loser will head to the Revenge final on November 19.

The Godfather will meet Timmy The Gun and Hitogoroshi will challenge Mason Storm on October 15 as well.

The winners of those two fights will meet each other in the Revenge semifinal on November 1 with a spot in the Revenge final on the line. There, they will take on the loser of Bishop and McCarty.

Wow, was that ever an amazing fight. Ivar Lothbrokson was two seconds away from a decision win and a trip to the finals, but The Shadow stole it away at the last possible moment. The final will take place on December 3rd:

De Bruyne vs The Shadow

Remember, this is a double elimination tournament, and De Bruyne has not lost yet. That means:

If De Bruyne wins on December 3rd, it will be The Shadow's second loss. De Bruyne will be the champion and the tournament will be finished.

If The Shadow wins, it will only be De Bruyne's first loss of the tournament. They will therefore have to fight again, with the winner being declared champion.

Good luck to both men.

For his third place finish, Lothbrokson takes home $75,000. Not too shabby.

"After two straight losses i have made a decision on my future. My head has cleared after the loss and i will decide to stay and fight until it is too painful to stand. Whoever wins the final i can boast i was in the cage with De Bruyne for the longest and battered Shadow the hardest, but i fell at the last so congrats to both men and i will be cageside at your fight."

We have a rematch of the semifinals, as Darren McCarty got back on the winning track, taking out Ren Hitogoroshi with a third round stoppage. McCarty will now face off against the man who gave him his only defeat: Lance Bishop

Since it is double elimination, and Bishop is yet to lose, McCarty needs to beat him twice. However, a single win at this point will give Bishop the championship.

Ren Hitogoroshi finishes the tournament in third place, and pockets a sweet $75,000 for his efforts.
