INTERVIEW WITH CARLOS HULK

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/1/1b10.jpg

Carlos Hulk

How was your experience at ITFL ?

It was a great experience. I started the championship as the underdog because I had less fights and a higher ID than the others fighters, but I think after a few wins I could change that. My team finished in second and I was in a good position in the first stage. Unfortunately in the second stage I took a good opponent, with a very good manager, and lost in a close decision. This fight was the typical fight of striker vs. grappler, and I did not have luck.

What is your favorite part of MMA?

KO, of course.I hate these fighters who like to win by decision. They are the worst in MMA and do some fights have less and less interest.

How did you get into MMA?

Few people know, but I started training BJJ sduring my childhood, in Rio de Janeiro. One day I went into a boxing gym and fell in love instantly. Unfortunately my parents were very poor and could not invest in me as a fighter. I started doing amateur fights for a few bucks and I began to have an excellent performance, with some great knockouts, which ended up on youtube. It was thanks to those videos that my manager Moyses Mattos found me, at 16 years old. Moyses has excellent fighters and I was very happy to have aroused his curiosity. He invited me to do a sparring with the super Rock Tyson. We had a fight for 5 rounds, he detonated me, but I was not knocked out. Then I thought, if this guy knocked out all the fighters and I survived, I think I have some talent. At that moment, I saw that it was serious.

Does your family support your career as a cagefighter?

They did not support me because they thought MMA did not give money. But when I presented my mother with a mansion in front of the beach, I think they changed their minds. lol
My real family today is made by my team. It is great to have as a brother Rafa Silva, Rock Tyson, Pablo Escobar and the others. They are the best example I could have.

What are your goals for 2015?

I wil be top 100 p4p in the world.Simple

Are you looking forward to your NYFN debut ?

I do not expect anything other than a knockout. On second thought, the knockout of the night would be ideal

How is training camp going?

I'm paying more attention more in my strength than my weaknesses. I am very confident on my power. My camp has been great fun. I can not say the name, but has a fighter in my gym that is top 100 that has been knocked out twice. lol

Do you have a message to the rest of the division?

Watch the chin!

NY FIght NIghts Midweek Mayhem 9 Preview

Distor Centura (9-3-1) v Alexander Puhovin (8-3)

Alexander Puhovin, the young 23 year old upstart from Hostility will look to keep his promising career rolling against experienced NYFN fighter, Distor Centura. Centura is six years older than Puhovin and more experienced on the big stage, but Puhovin should have a big advantage in the boxing and BJJ department. With an eye popping seven of his eight wins by submission, Distor Centura has to be cautious when this fight hits the ground. Centura has come up with wins before when he looks overmatched, but he’ll again be hard pressed against the debuting Alexander Puhovin.

Harland Sanders (7-2) v Harold Stone (10-3)

One of the best that Hostility ever produced at 185 pounds, Harland Sanders is looking to take NYFN by storm with his powerful boxing attack. Sanders own five of his seven wins by TKO and his only loss in Hostility came by way of submission to the champion Luke Rockstar. Sanders has to be very hungry stepping into the lion’s den that is NYFN. He faces NYFN veteran Harold Stone in his first fight. Stone is 3-2 at NYFN and all of his fights have ended by way of TKO. In yet another matchup of great boxers, Harold Stone should find himself right at home if Sanders makes the fight a kickboxing match like he normally does. Expect fast and furious action from these two great strikers.

Calm Like A Bomb (12-2) v Dexter Santaros (4-0)

Two former super heavyweights at Hostility will do battle in their NYFN debuts. Calm Like A Bomb has lethal kicks that are very rare to see out of such huge men. Bomb typically uses a lot of low kicks to tear the legs and body of the opposition up, as well as keep opponents from getting too comfortable in the standup. His takedown defense will certainly come into play in this fight as he faces BJJ black belt Dexter Santaros. Santaros was never defeated in Hostility and poses issues for any opponent on the mat. For a BJJ fighter, Santaros is a very underrated striker. He’s finished fighters with his ground and pound and his boxing already in his young career. He’ll probably be overmatched on the feet against Bomb, but the ground and pound could prove fatal if he can take Bomb down.

Francesco Torzoni (9-2) v Helix Cabrera (4-3)

In a potential Fight of the Night, Francesco Torzoni is coming off an impressive win over Nikolai Nation in his NYFN debut. Torzoni is as balanced skills wise as anyone currently fighting in MMA, but prefers to keep fights from hitting the ground. In many ways, Torzoni and Helix Cabrera mirror each other. Torzoni is a couple years older and a little more experienced, but the younger Cabrera probably has the edge in raw power. Cabrera has 2 wins by TKO in his three NYFN fights. His only loss was to stalwart Luigi Vercotti in a tight, but unanimous decision fight. With both fighters really just beginning their journey in NYFN, this win could be a huge boost for either fighter.

Benjamin BK (2-1) v Carlos Diaz (5-1)

Carlos Diaz has been a force at 205 pounds since debuting in NYFN. At 5-1, Diaz is a very talented fighter with unbelievable power. Diaz has hands of stone and was potentially in line for a title shot after 5 straight wins before being submitted by The Sandman in his last fight. Benjamin BK is making his debut in NYFN, but is also a good striker in his own right. BK loves to mix in head kicks with his excellent boxing, which poses huge problems for those who can’t keep up with his tremendous hand speed. BK went 2-1 in the Dominance promotion, including a couple very tight fights before moving on to NYFN. Diaz hasn’t been pushed past the first round but once, so his cardio remains somewhat untested compared to BK.

Martinez Eluard (8-6) v Benjamin Bengazzoni (11-8-1)

With two of the best boxers at 185 pounds in this fight, expect fireworks. Martinez Eluard has both power and accuracy with his punches, but also has some severe disabilities when it comes to using anything other than his hands to strike. Eluard does boast a solid ground game though. Even though he only has one win by submission, he is a brown belt in BJJ and no slouch. Benjamin Bengazzoni is another supremely talented boxer, but he also mixes in kicks and clinch techniques to make his boxing that much more dangerous. Bangazzoni typically doesn’t mind whether his punches are thrown standing up or in the clinch, but he’ll assuredly attempt to get this fight in the clinch with the advantages he should have in this fight.

Byrant Arlo (8-7) v Dont Know (4-3)
We have two of the more talented fighters at 185 pounds in this fight. Bryrant Arlo is making his NYFN debut after a long stint in HMFL where he earned multiple Knockout of the Night bonuses. Arlo certainly has legitimate power, as he’s won all eight of his fights by TKO. A very similar fighter, Dont Know is comfortable everywhere in the cage. Know dominated in his NYFN debut last time out, earning a 30-27 unanimous decision win over Luka Janko. Both of these fighters have the potential to climb the ladder at 185 and earn a title shot, but only one fighter will have the positive momentum to do so after this fight. After such an impressive debut, Know could be looking at facing an old guard type opponent in his next fight with another impressive performance in this one.

Chuck Neptune (2-3) v Fabio Lanzoni (2-0)

Fabio Lanzoni was very impressive in his first NYFN fight, finishing Paul Frederick in less than two minutes by submission. Lanzoni is only 22 years of age, but is already a black belt in BJJ and as dangerous as anyone in NYFN on the ground. Lanzoni was able to neutralize the much better striker in Frederick last fight and dominate on the ground and he’ll have to do the same to defeat Chuck Neptune. Neptune is 2-2 in NYFN and coming off a brilliant win by head kick in his last time out. Neptune is a muay thai fighter who has some of the most dangerous feet in the business. While he’s no slouch on the ground, he’ll still want to stay away from getting on the ground with the dangerous Fabio Lanzoni.

Corey Davis (0-1) v Marvin Blackwell (4-7)

In a battle of two guys that tend to stand and trade, Corey Davis should have a significant edge in this fight even though he’s the much less experienced fighter. Davis is a very solid striker overall, but has pinpoint boxing that will really challenge Marvin Blackwell. Blackwell is a solid defensive wrestler and is very effective when it comes to using his feet, but if this fight turns into a boxing match, Corey Davis should be able to pick him apart. Blackwell won his first three fights by TKO in NYFN, but has been on the losing end in his past couple fights. Once a shooting star at 135 pounds, Blackwell will need to overcome the well-rounded Davis if he wants to get his mojo back.

Bruce Lee (1-8) v Ramen Noodles (1-2)

To put it mildly, Bruce Lee has had a whale of the time getting adjusted to life as a professional mixed martial artist. With an awful 1-8 record to his name, he’ll look to get his second win against young BJJ fighter Ramen Noodles. Noodles is a brown belt in BJJ and is very dangerous on the ground. Unfortunately for Noodles, his standup striking hasn’t been up to par and he’s been knocked out twice in three pro fights. Bruce Lee has a great clinch game as his primary strength is in muay thai, but he’s attempted to take fights to the ground at a very unusual rate. Lee isn’t a very gifted grappler and if he decides to try to take the fight to the ground against Noodles, he’ll more than likely be submitted.

Harold "Hazel Hal" Stone (229296)

Rightly predicted, i welcomed Sanders to New York with my fists. We gave the fans a show and in the end only one person was going to come out on top if you decide to trade with me.

In the end he looked like a sliced chicken. But credit where credit is due, he sure has a hard head! My knuckles are still sore!

" Wasn't long after my first MMA fight that Bjorn contacted me with an interesting offer, he told me he was impressed with my performance in the fight and thinks I've got a lot of potential and offered me the chance to be a part of his organisations journey to the top, I couldn't say no. The guy's very ambitious and I like the way he goes about running this organisation.

Guess you'll be seeing more of me in 2015! Keep an eye out for me in NYFN's Lightweight division. We don't know when I'll be having my first fight so for the next couple of months I'll be in the gym every day and night trying to improve myself so I can make a big impression in my first fight at New York Fight Nights! " I'm going to make sure that my debut is one that will be remembered. I've been feared throughout my whole career, just look at the Project Ascension tournament I was a part of, the other heavyweight fighters were so scared to face me that they left the organisation. They call me "The Gladiator" because once I step into that cage, I go to war and won't stop until my hand is raised as the winner. "

"I honestly cannot explain why I did what I did in my last fight, it was a moment of madness, I saw an opportunity to pull guard and hopefully get a guillotine but it completely back fired on me. It's my fault and I should have stuck to the game plan. "

NY Fight Nights 35 Preview

http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/posters/1425627301NYFN35.jpg

Main event :
Arturo Atunes ( 16-2-0 ) vs Devin Styles ( 31-11-0 )

I’m very proud to present you the main event of NYFN 35. This is going to be one hell of a fight between one of the biggest talents in the game going up against a veteran top fighter. The only 23 year old Atunes messaged me that he would love to fight all the big names in the MMA world and that he would fight at NYFN If I could set it up. I reacted as soon as I could and soon the fight was set up and ready to go. Atunes is one hell of a gifted striker with 14 (t)KO victories. His opponent, Styles, is a top level striker as well with 24 (t)KO finishes. Both guys have finishing power to put anyone’s lights out. The question the entire world is wondering; “ Who will get his hand raised? “ . Will it be the challenger with the big balls or the veteran top dog who is eager to prove you don’t call him out without paying for it.. ? A very interesting fight and the result might send shockwaves through the division.

Co-main event:
Jonqw Fray ( 12-2-0 )vs Luigi Vercotti ( 11-3-0 )

Two of the top 155lbs fighters at NYFN will square off in the co-main event of the evening. It’s no secret that the winner of this fight very well might get the next shot at the current 155lbs champion Kolt Ganger. Fray is a submission specialist with 9 submission victories already on his mma-record, but don’t underestimate his standup. Vercotti is a dangerous and very promising fighter looking to upset Fray and get the job done once again. Will he dare to go to the ground with Fray ? We don’t know yet, but we’ll find out soon.

Nikolai Nation ( 9-2-0 ) vs Elijah Modnar ( 8-1-0 )

Another great 155lbs fight that will take place on the epic NYFN 35 event. The former and longtime 155lbs champion Nation fights Modnar. After losing his last two fights, Nation will be looking to end that streak and get back to the winning column. His elite boxing skills will for sure cause problems for anyone in the division and he has the power to finish as well. One thing he shoudn’t do is to take his opponent lightly . Modnar is a very complete fighter and is a ferocious striker with huge KO-power. Will one of those strikers try to take it to the ground to confuse his opponent and cause chaos? I think this very well might happen as soon as one of them feels a bit uncomfortable standing.

Hannibal Barca ( 4-0-0 ) vs Melcone Aisa ( 5-2-0 )

Both Barca and Aisa are 21 year old and look to have great future. Barca has an excellent Bjj background and the undefeated prospect has finished all of his opponent by way of submission, 3 being first round finishes. His opponent has a brown belt as well, but is mostly known for his finishing power. Aisa doesn’t like to take a fight to the judges and will be looking to finish quickly again . This fight has the potential to be very entertaining for sure.

Michael D’Amato ( 6-1-0 ) vs Stewart Hunter ( 8-1-1 )

This fight is another great one, as two 23year old prospects will look eachother in the eyes when the cage door locks. D’Amato is a top level boxer with KO-power in both hands. He’ll be looking to add one more finish to his impressive mma-record, but he can’t take his opponent lightly as he’s a superb fighter as well, who’ll be looking to finish the fight as well. This one is guaranteed fireworks, but the question is “ Will the fight be finished on the ground or standing? “

Danny Ciprianni ( 2-1-0 ) vs The Sandman ( 3-0-0 )

Two 20year old awesome prospects will go to battle. Ciprianni is a wellrounded fighter with both good standup and groundwork. His standup might be what he’ll be trying to use the most when he fights the Sandman, and he’ll need his sensational wrestling to stay standing. The sandman is a highly skilled BJJ-artist, with 3 first round submission victories. If the fight goes to the ground, the chances of the blackbelt getting his hand raised will increase rapidly .

Robert Owinashi ( 10-7-1 ) vs Anderson Silva Jr. ( 12-4-0 )

The big boys will most likely make this a standup war. Owinashi is the older fighter, but doesn’t have much more fights than Silva Jr. They both like to finish fights, and are more than capable of doing so, but they also have been finished themselves. The fighter who will have the most heart and the best headmovement will get his hand raised after another (t)KO finish I assume.

Claude Bouchard ( 1-0-0 ) vs Derek Gaines ( 2-1-0 )

Bouchar will be looking to keep the fight standing against Gaines, as the latter is a brownbelt in BJJ. Obviously his opponent will want to take the fight to the ground, but giving his lack of experience in wrestling, it will be interesting to see how he can get there.

Uri Haber ( 2-0-0 ) vs Craig Jones ( 2-1-0 )

Both these young fighters have a bright future ahead of them. It will be interesting to see where the fight takes place. Both guys have good BJJ, but in the standup, it looks like Haber would be the favorite. Who of these young guns will come up with the best gameplan and will be able to dictate where the fight takes place? We’ll find out soon.

Malik Shabazz ( 1-2-0 ) vs John Henry ( 9-6-0 )

Both guys are great strikers, but Shabazz has the edge in striking, so Henry might look to take the fight to the ground and submit him. Shabazz hasn’t had a very active career so far, so It’s anyone’s guess how he’ll do once he steps into the cage again. Will ring rust be a factor or will he be ready to battle his opponent?

Danny Ciprianni 205lbs

Well that was the most dissapointing (read shitty-ist) fight of my short career so far, my manager and I studied the tapes of my opponents fights trying to work out what he might try. Believe me, it didn't take long. We knew he'd just keep coming and coming with the takedown attempts, I'm just pissed at myself for not catching his sorry ass chin with a decent hook before he eventually got his way.

Time to take some time off and work even harder in the gym, this defeat is just going to make me come back stronger and harder so these boys who like to cuddle get a nice surprise next time.

While I'm here I'd like to give a shout out to Arturo Atunes, that guy has balls of steel and although things didn't go his way tonight I'm sure we'll see him at the #1 spot in the near future.

Since we currently are in the search of a good loyal writer, we weren't able to give you a preview of NYFN Midweek Mayhem 10. I was too busy in real life sadly enough to write a preview myself. I was able to make some free time now, so I wrote this review of the event in my only free time of this week. Hopefully you guys will appreciate the review.

NYFN Midweek Mayhem 10 Review

Arzlan Bathory vs Claude LeBlanc ( 205lbs Title fight)

The main event was a bout for the 205lbs belt. Both fighters were very motivated. On the one hand , Leblanc was eager to defend his belt and on the other hand Bathory was looking to prove himself and show the world that he is our best light heavyweight fighter. LeBlanc noticed that standing with the challenger wasn’t going to make it an easy fight, so he tried to take his opponent down a few times. The great wrestling from Bathory made it real hard for the champ to take him to the ground. In the end, Bathory showed his class by winning the fight by unanimous decision. A very strong performance from our new champion, but don’t count LeBlanc out for the future, as he will be looking to bounce back from his first career loss.

Victor Sagat vs Algot Von Panzerhosen

Sagat has made his NYFN debut with this fight and what a debut it was. He put away another top talent in the second round with a stunning head kick KO. It was amazing to see, as both guys seemed to have made a deal to try and kick eachothers head off. Both guys tried over 20 head kicks. Von Panzerhosen is still only 23years old, so he still has a great future ahead of him. But the star of the fight obviously was the winner Sagat, who also won the KO-of the night award for his breathtaking KO.

Rigoberto Lamas vs Carlos Danger

This fight was actually a rematch. Lamas lost the first fight by unamimous decision and was looking to take revenge. Danger his KO-power was concerning , so Lamas obviously wanted to take the fight to the ground. He was able to get the takedown quickly and started working his opponent on the ground. Once he was able to take the back of Danger, it was only a matter of time, as Lamas never lets go of a back without submitting the guy. Lamas improves his record to 14-4-0 with 11 submission victories. He won the submission of the night award for his RNC.

Marcin Sokol vs Lil Jon

After a tough first round, were he was continously being attacked with submission attempts, the young Sokol was able to turn the fight around in his way. His accurate striking made the difference, as he was showing of once again his top level striking game. His boxing skills are amazing and he is looking really strong. He improves to 9-1-0, with 6 finishes. Lil Jon wasn’t able to get the submission he was looking for. He will be looking to end his two fight losing streak and come back stronger than ever.

Johannis Modigh vs Ben Jonathon

With an amazing display of talent, Modigh was able to put away his opponent after just 1’33. He landed a huge headkick and followed it up with strikes to finish the fight. A brutal finish from the 22 year old killer who has earned himself the next title shot at 205lbs against our new champion Bathory. Jonathon suffered a tough loss, but he will come back. The guy isn’t a quiter and will find a way to get back on the right path.

Tytus Romanski vs Eddie Killer

In this batttle of young powerhouses, Killer lived up to his name and KO’ed his opponent after 2’55. Romanski started of nice with some kicks, but got caught with a big right hand that sent him crashing to the floor. After getting back to his feet, the same punch landed once more and the fight was over. Eddie Killer will make a big jump in opposition as he’ll face the ultratough and talented Giacomo Benvenuti, managed by the one and only Dean Sutherland. Known for his brutal beating of Bowser in the last EVO event, I’m curious to see how his fighter will do in his NYFN debut. Certainly a huge fight that a lot of MMA-fans will be looking forward to!

Jordan James vs Paul Frederick

Both light heavyweights were looking to make a good impression. James was winning the fight until all of a sudden, Frederick rocked James at the very end of the fight. Luckily for James, the bell rang and he was declared the winner by unanimous decision.

John Brady vs Thomas Bannon

Both young guys were eager to show what they are capable of , but it was Bannon who came out victorious. He landed a beautiful axe kick that ended the fight quickly after 1’51 in the first round. You just can’t drop your hands in an MMA-fight and not expect to be in trouble…

Leeroy Jenkins vs Chris Zyb

Jenkins and Zyb were very evenly matched on the feet, but the big amount of leg kicks that Jenkins threw and landed made a big difference in the fight. Zyb was looking too much for the KO and ended up being outpointed by the very accurate striking of Jenkins.

Lucas Cabrera vs Pat O’Brien

In this closely contested fight, O’Brien ended up being the victor. The way he mixed up striking with his wrestling to him the decision win that he badly wanted. Cabrera used a lot of kicks to try and impose his will, but the judges were clearly impressed with the 80% takedown succes from O’Brien.

FOTN : Bathory vs LeBlanc

KO of the night : Victor Sagat

Sub of the night : Rigoberto Lamas

NYFN 36 Miller vs Pierce preview

Main event :

Dax Miller (8-1) Vs Lucas Pierce (10-3)
Dax Miller won the 185 title last month and will defend it for the very first time against fellow knockout artist Lucas pierce. Dax Miller proved he was championship material in his last fight, but the fight was so close the judges called it a split decision. If Dax wants to be recognized as the champion he'll need a decisive victory, so he'll probably be looking for the finish as soon as possible. But he needs to be careful, because if he underestimates his opponent he'll be the one who gets finished.

Co-main event:

Will Tickel (7-6) Vs Davy Jones Junior (7-4)
Even though they are both primarily grapplers, they both have some excellent striking skills. They might think their grappling could just cancel each other out, so they might decide to stand and bang. This could be an amazing grappling clinic but it could just as easily end without them even going to the ground.

Sanford Fanning (1-0) Vs Kanga Roos (3-1)
This is going to be a light-heavyweight battle of prospects. Sanford impressed a lot of people with a 23 second knockout in his MMA debut, so he'll want to keep things going in his promotional debut. Kanga outwrestled his opponent in his last fight but he's also got some serious power in his hands. These guys will looking for the knockout when the bell rings, so don't blink because this fight could end in a flash.

Elias Al Haddad (12-11-1) Vs Blind Shaman (3-1)
Elias will be looking to break his two fight losing streak and Blind needs another win if he wants to keep climbing the ladder. The pressure will be on Elias who really needs this win, but he'll need to be careful against the well rounded Blind Shaman. Elias will look to control the fight, while Blind will be looking for any possible weakness to exploit.

Jamal Jackson (5-0) Vs Indigo Starseed (10-5)
Jamal is on a roll, he'll undoubtedly want to keep his undefeated streak going so he can move up to the upper echelons of the 205 division. Indigo already had some experience at the top in his last org when he had his first title match. Indigo may have come up short in that title fight, but he still looked good regardless. The 205 pounders should probably keep an eye out for this fight, because one of these fighters could easily be a future contender.

Pow Pow (6-6) Vs TY Lanni (2-5)
These guys may be at the bottom of the 155 division, but they are both hungry for more. Pow is a powerful striker and TY is a talented grappler, so this will be a classic striker Vs wrestler fight.

Owen Orwell (8-8) Vs Koji Yano (6-1)
Koji had some problems with his former managers, but now it seems he's found himself a good match in Abraham Raheem. Koji will look to rebound from the sole loss in his career while Owen is looking to break his two fight losing streak. Both are well rounded grapplers so this fight could go anywhere they want it to go.

Leif Eirikson (2-1) Vs Rusty Driver (6-4)
Two powerful strikers collide, this will probably be a barnburner. Fists will be flying and in the end only one will be left standing in the cage.

Terrell Buckley (1-0) Vs Tim Pierno (3-1)
The battle of doom, they may be in the same alliance but when the cage door closes alliances don't mean anything. They are both excellent strikers but they know how to handle themselves on the floor as well. Tim will be looking to extend his three fight winning streak while Terrell will be looking to impress in his promotional debut.

Trippin Daisy (1-4) Vs Liam Murdock (0-3)
Even though Trippin might be considered a slight favorite on paper, he's also got a lot going against him as his manager has decided to part ways. This will be another classic striker Vs grappler fight as Trippin will want to keep this fight standing while Liam should definitely want to put his brown belt in BJJ to use.
