MMATycoon
I have some ideas on how to implement the physicals adjustment. I'm on the phone in the delivery room so I can't do it now. I'll snag the laptop when ivgobhome for a bit and write it up. Mike, what did you think about physicals learning speed vs the skills learning speed adjustment I recommended? I think that would be a huge bump to the realism level. Can you reword what you want to be different please. Re physical learning speed it seemed like you were just describing how it works now. Hope all's going well at your end
markyosullivan
Being honest, I thought WOC was only used until BetMMA.tips was set up and that you were analysing peoples picks on it instead now. That's why I stopped submitting my picks to WOC and just focused on BetMMA.tips
Guest
Ok Mike I understand you 100%. I'll pick my brilliant picks In woc bevause I'm the undisputed king of pickem's.

clydebankblitz
So your suggestion is to pretty much change everything? Loads of people play the game, updates occur constantly. I reckon everything's going fairly solid on here. People leave the game, sure, that's what happens. How many sites have a core following of people from 6 years ago? As long as new people keep joining that's the important part.
Guest
Michael you lazy bastard! I get the want to try out your BetMMA site and that's, obviously, fine by me. The issue I have with it, and it's only sort of an issue really, is that you're basically saying "if you guys weren't so lazy with WOC, I could be lazy with BetMMA and put more time in here." It's not as though updates were rolling out day and night before you started up this tipster site. Again, I have zero problem with you wanting to take up another endeavour. Actually quite the opposite, but don't try to make it seem as though this game NEEDS to suffer due to this other site. That's 100% not the case at all. I think it's more of a you can see the chance for BetMMA to become a much higher revenue stream for you so it gets the bulk of your time, and again that's totally understandable. Just don't make it seem like something it isn't is all. I do truly hope both of these sites make you stacks of money, and should it happen don't forget us people that gave you the constructive criticism you never wanted to hear. 2
MMATycoon
I don't envisage BetMMA making much money at all but we'll see. Like I say, it's made zero pounds so far and has cost several thousand. I SERIOUSLY, whether you believe this or not, want it to be a driver to MMA Tycoon, which does make money (although not enough). Lazy isn't the right word with anything though. I don't think people are lazy with WOC, I think they deliberately decide not to bother. People think ignoring WOC will mean I'll give up on it. It's the opposite. If people ignore it, I have to spend more time on it cos I'm not going to give up on it, as it's a really solid concept. And I don't want to be lazy with anything. I can assure you, there's nothing lazy about running one website let alone 2. I want to spend my time efficiently. I want to spend zero time convincing people to take part, so I can spend time on other stuff, whatever that may be.
MrClean
My wife says I am lazy when I sit around playing MMATYCOOON. I tell her playing this game isn't all just fun, sometimes it's a lot of work. It also requires a huge sacrifice. I have had to seriously curtail the amount of time spent looking at porn in order to stay relevant in the rankings. Maybe I should explain to her that if it wasn't for MMATYCOON I might be on some Ashley Madison type site instead. Then again, maybe not. Playing just this game for 6 plus years can become monotonous at times. I may take a look at WOC for a change of pace.........or check out some porn. I haven't decided yet Thanks for all you do Mike. The only update the game REALLY needs is to add strip clubs in Vegas. The Broken Halo Pride's Shaolin StripNOBODY leaves here with their Halo intact
762x39
Even without the extra primary skills, I think the clinch takedowns and takedown d would be good adds. Good luck with the other projects, I have never looked at the WOC, but I have never been on the forum much until this year and I started playing in 2009. So I will check it out, I am not even sure what the other one is. Is it just a betting site or what is it? I will try and remember to check it out when I have time. I don't wanna go into sales pitch mode cos I'll get sighs a plenty so just check it out and you'll see Obviously I agree with you that clinch and regular takedowns / TDD are good ideas cos it was my idea
JLP
Can you reword what you want to be different please. Re physical learning speed it seemed like you were just describing how it works now. Hope all's going well at your end Right now physical learning speed is much more constant than skill learning speed. Anyone who knows the game well spends the first two-three years of their fighters career doing majority skills training because the returns reduce as a fighter ages much more than physicals do. Physicals learning rate is pretty constant until a fighter maxes out or starts to decline, I havent paid close enough attention to know which. I think it should be the exact opposite. Physical gains should slow down in the early 20s like skill gains do now. Skill gains should remain pretty much constant until a fighter hits his cap. Getting older doesnt really make it harder to learn new skills, however as you age it's much tougher to really improve yourself physically. Especially agility, flexibility, speed and balance. Everything went great, kid popped right out of there. He is 2.5 weeks early, so he is a little small at 6lbs 2oz and 18.5 inches.

clydebankblitz
I spent time on a certain rap battle website for like 8 years. During that time, we saw VERY little of the owner of the site. He didn't update the site once. He tried to run a new rap website, he ran Rocbattle which was huge for a while and put a lot of focus on that, but was never active on my site. He then sold the site to his brother, who has added a few vbullitan hacks and a new skin but nothing else. So it's beyond me when people are saying updates on here are slowing down. We JUST got an update to the whole way ground games and escapes are played. We got the prediction thing not long ago, for better or worse. I've not really been on here for a long time but there's been loads of updates just since I've joined. Add to that things like daily avatar approvals, loads of title matches fucking up and each getting fixed manually and loads of other problems. I can't believe that because Mike created BetMMA that people would think MMATyc is missing out. He's still on here like every single day and we're still getting fairly frequent updates.
Guest
Just for the record the reason I don't play WOC or BetMMA isn't out of spite at all, I just either forgot about it or it doesn't hugely interest me yet. As of now I'll try remember to make my picks... doesn't require too much effort i suppose. I would like to think most others have the same reason as me, not just because they are being spiteful, bit sad really. I remember finding this site through MMAplayground which was picking IRL fights as well so I am sure BetMMA will have the same effect!

Physical training tails off exactly the same way as the main skills, so that's why I was a bit confused what you were saying. If it looks like it trains flat, that's probably cos the gains are a bit too quick overall. Glad everything went well with the baby
GBK16
Only reason I generally don't do WOC picks is because I actually suck at predicting fights. I don't even think logically about picks on the Pick Ems, I just choose random winners.
Wolf
At first I really didn't understand WOC (still don't) I just picked each fight with what I who I thought would win. Then I realised that's not the way it's supposes to work so very slowly i'm starting to make only a few picks on each fight card or none at all. If we make picks on WOC do we also have to so it on BetMMA?

If we make picks on WOC do we also have to so it on BetMMA? WOC and being an individual handicapper are totally separate. If you're handicapping, you wanna be more cautious but on WOC you can be a little more risky. So yep, to be clear, you need to enter the two separately. Anyway, this is the link to the Bet MMA thread, so we don't pollute a thread about updates with betting nonsense http://www.mmatycoon.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=50342 Let's keep all the WOC / bet mma stuff in there and keep this one on updates. Sassano
I think just a couple of updates here and there. I don't see the game as a churn at all. I go in and out of smack talk phases, I've not smack talked for a bit but I will again soon when I get in the mood. Maybe a new UI, new skin? Just freshen I still love the game as much as I did when I first started, maybe even more so recently with my recent results lol.
MMATycoon
I'd love a new skin but unfortuantely that would be an absolutely enormous job. When the site was first programmed I wasn't really au fait with how to make it easily updateable, so i'd have to edit each page individually and we've got about 300 pages. If it looks like it trains flat, that's probably cos the gains are a bit too quick overall. Glad everything went well with the baby I'm kind of surprised that is how its coded. I'm also positive someone showed me a spreadsheet that made it appear that physicals gain didnt drop off as fast as skill gains did. I still think it is a good idea to have skill gain not fall off like it does and have the physical gains really slow down in the mid 20s. That way a fighter could still maintain his skills later in a career and have the degrade mostly effect their physical abilities as they age. igorbyhenikov
in real life, when you have practiced one sport your whole life, things just come naturally and you dont just forget the techniques but when getting older, you cant execute them with the same speed and power you did in your prime. so i suggest that fighter could maintain his technique more easily and not decline so harshly, but physically you cant fight forever in the highest level, just like in real life.
