DFC: Sin City 9 – Lindberg vs. Xhaka (17 September 2016 – Hayashi’s Lounge, Las Vegas) Preview and Predictions – Written by Gabe T.S. Gardner (112290)
Sponsored by “King Of Fists” fight wear, official clothing of DFC – Las Vegas
Bet on this card using “Sin City Bookies”, your instincts could be worth money!

Sin City hopes to continue its reputation of being the largest growing attraction in Vegas since the poor and downtrodden scoured casinos looking for a big break and lonely businessmen heard there were hookers there….what I’m saying is its becoming a big deal….

A Featherweight title fight capitalises what is up and down a fantastic card, and here is what I think you should expect from this great event!

Fight 1
Tomas “Tompa” Lindberg 4-0-0 vs Granat “The Player” Xhaka 5-0-0: 5 Rounds of 5 Minutes for the DFC Featherweight Championship

Two undefeated featherweights will battle it out in tonight’s main event when Xhaka challenges Lindberg for the title.

I predict both fighters will come out and leave their composure in the locker room, look to knock each other’s heads off from the get go and I really expect a first round finish.

Lindberg and Xhaka are both great strikers in separate disciplines, with Lindberg favouring the tactical striking approach of boxing, and Xhaka being a practitioner of the up close, gritty and devastating art of Muay Thai Kickboxing.

The biggest mystery is how well will Xhaka be able to keep Lindberg in the clinch, as I think based on previous performances that is where he keeps his opponents before grinding them to dust. If he can’t keep him there and tries to close distance time after time, he will keep getting hit over and over, probably panic and make a mistake. KO, game over.

However, I think that Xhaka is the more experienced, and that Lindberg won’t be able to deal with being forced into an uncomfortable decision, and will at least to his credit go out swinging…

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Granat Xhaka Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Fight 2
Richard “Nature Boy” Fliehr 6-2-0 vs James Myres 3-1-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 265lbs

HEAVYWEIGHT TIME! Fliehr is making his DFC Vegas debut after a spell out in Russia for our Saint Petersburg counterparts, and he takes on Myres, a tough fighter who is on a mixed run right now, winning and losing 2 each.

Another kickboxer vs boxer kinda scenario, and I think looking at the details and notes on their previous fights, the same kind of fight will be fought here too. Fliehr is a beast of a fighter, with a lot of under 1 minute finishes under his belt already, with his only losses coming to undefeated super champion Rollo Lothbrok – I think this is going to translate well into DFC vegas and he should expect a good run of form here too, and get a 1st round KO in much the similar fashion of my last prediction.
Fliehr will look good in his debut I predict but can anyone beat Shreve Jr to the title? I know what fight I’d like to see next…(hint hint)

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Richard Fliehr, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Fight 3
Dean “The Bounty Hunter” Wesson 4-1-0 v Vince “The Vise Grip” Collins 5-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 205lbs

Deans winning. Next………….Oh, I’d suppose you’d like an explanation? Urrghhh okay.

Collins admittedly has had a solid run up to this point, but ability wise this is a mean ol’ mismatch of a fight. A light heavyweight fight can sometimes be as technical as their middleweight counterparts or as brutal as their heavyweight brothers, but this one falls into the latter category in my opinion.

Short and painful night for Collins, and a round 1 KO victory for Wesson

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Dean Wesson, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Fight 4
Andre Hendrix 5-2-0 v Raylan Steele 2-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 145lbs

The former champ is going to have to start off here with a statement of intent if he is going to get back into the running for his title any time soon, and has a difficult task ahead of him in Raylan Steele.

Hendrix’s chin got called into question when he got KO’d in under a minute by Lindberg, and Steele will have been studying that footage over and over.

Listen, I rate Hendrix to the ends of the earth, he is a veritable Wunderkind, but a bad chin is a bad chin however you dress it up and the majority of his previous opponents were not very talented strikers the likes of Steele. To quote Rocky III “Prediction?......Paaaiin….” Round 1 KO.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Raylan Steele, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Fight 5
Shane Myres 2-2-0 v Chat “The Cat” Watts 1-2-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 145lbs

Another short prediction for me here tonight. I just don’t see Watts as being cut out for this level of competition, even if he is facing someone who I don’t exactly rate as a world champion in the making in Myres.

I think Watts is going to be far too cautious, think too much about all his actions and will get caught in a submission he can’t escape from.

No hard feelings Chat, expect from Myres, he will probably try and rip your arm off pretty hard….

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Shane Myres, Round 1 (SUB)

Fight 6
Lukasz “Gonzo” Nemec 2-0-0 v Alexander “The Great” Dippe 2-1-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 185lbs

Middleweights! Anyone who has read these predictions before will know my fascinations with these guys. And this fight is a very intriguing one to say the least. Dippe is coming off of two convincing KO wins after using his knees to full effect, and Nemec remains undefeated after getting two decision victories over Stark and McMuffin.

I really don’t see Nemec being able to finish Dippe here, despite having good takedowns, his ground and pound is…well…..awful. With no ability to finish demonstrated so far, I think that Dippe will come out more aggressive, drive in those knees hard and get another highlight reel finish against “Gonzo”

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Alexander Dippe, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Fight 7
Jason ReConner 2-0-0 v Jon Smultz 2-3-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 185lbs

Ahhhh yes, the curious case of Jon Smultz. A very gifted grappler, lacking that killer instinct it takes to truly succeed against pure strikers. And while ReConner may be a grappler cut from similar cloth to himself, and despite getting a win back recently – I think his confidence will still be shook, and his morale and fighting instincts will let him down.

ReConner looked good in his two fights outside of DFC, and I think he will look good here either getting the ground and pound KO or the submission victory.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W
) Jason ReConner, Round 1 (TKO/KO - SUB)

Fight 8
Mark “Super Samoan” Hunt 5-2-0 v Mark Gregory 1-2-1: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 145lbs

Welterweight fight now as Mark Hunt takes on Mark Gregory in an epic battle that is sure to determine, once and for all the ONE TRUE MARK!.....or maybe just who can climb the welterweight rankings right now….that too.

When someone with as good a natural standup game as Gregory finds themselves with the win loss record that he currently has, you can only draw a few conclusions. 1) He has no KO power 2) He has no natural instinct, and thinks way too much. If either of those are true for Gregory, he is in for a tought night.

Hunt is a great wrestler and will lay into him on the ground, and in my opinion I think he can get this done inside of a round. Bad news Gregory, you won’t win. Good news? Uhh you’ll have a great few of the fireworks being detonated on head by one angry New Zealander…every cloud.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Mark Hunt, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Fight 9
"THE PUNJABI PLAYBOY" Nagarjun Sagar Singh Khema 1-0-0 v "The Dark One" Costa Diego 0-1-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 170lbs

Oh GOD did that name take an age to type, heres some showbiz advice kid – just call yourself “The Mighty Khema” or some crap and have done with it, if it takes a good hour just to look you up, I won’t live long enough to watch your fights. Costa Diego is going to have his hands full with a brutal standup fighter with the natural ability of Khema, who can go toe to toe with him in the clinch.

The clinch in fact is going to likely be the battleground for this fight, a fight I think Khema might just have the edge in. I know its never a great idea to cross the boss, and guess who is managing Diego, but that’s just the way I see this fight going on balance.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Nagarium Sagar Singh Khema, Round 2 (TKO/KO)

Fight 10
Byron “Pretty Boy” Jones 0-1-0 v Maxi “Jo Jo” Smut 5-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 135lbs

Last but not least, the bantamweights and the second easiest fight to predict this night. Smut has shown phenomenal wrestling ability and I think he will impose that on Jones easily, a man who lost his only professional fight to date in 18 seconds.

Nothing personal, but have you ever considered a career in stacking grocery shelves Jones? Being 6ft 4 tall as a bantamweight might make you well suited to it…..

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Maxi Smut, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

THERE YOU HAVE IT! Apologies to you all for having to wait so long for this, circumstances beyong my control effected the upload time of this prediction, but it is all worth it for what promises to be a GREAT card, punctuated by a thrilling contest at featherweight, as well as a stellar undercard! See you there!

DFC Mayhem 10 Review

On 2016-09-16, in front of the eyes of 1875 exalted spectators at Hayashi's Lounge - Las Vegas, was held the spectacular DFC Mayhem 10. Everyone was excited and eager to witness the main event where two Middleweight titans clashed for the DFC's Middleweight Championship title!

185 lbs 3 Jon Lewis Willie Stroker TKO (Strikes) 1 02:18

The opening fight of the event presented to the fans two 19 year old youngsters, who were aiming to win the hearts of the audience. Lewis started as the more aggressive fighter in the clash and was checking every possible option to get the win. He first got Stroker into clinch, but then Jon Lewis saw that things aren't working his way so he managed to get out of it. Then things started working for Lewis. When the clock was about to show that there are 3 minutes left in the round, Lewis landed a perfect punch combination, which resulted into opening a nasty cut on Stroker's face. This obviously enraged Willie Stroker a lot, who replied with a strong punch combo which staggered Lewis backwards. Then came Stroker's decision to enter in the clinch, which he should probably regret, because his poor clinch attempt was followed by furious punch combination counter by Jon Lewis, which put Stroker to sleep! I am looking forward to see Lewis' next impressive performance.

155 lbs 3 Hundo Varga Jacob Demon Decision (Unanimous) 3 05:00

Next fight on the preliminary card was Varga versus Demon. Maybe it was a fight that every spectator in the arena would forget in a day or two, but the tactical part of it could be somehow interesting. Varga showed his dominance in every possible aspect for full 15 minutes, but he wasn't able to finish Jacob Demon. Mr. Demon obviously wasn't well prepared for the fight because he was trying to grapple with a much better wrestler, which resulted in many failed takedowns and many lost points for the referees' scorecard, which in the end was showing a clear victory for Hundo Varga!

185 lbs 3 Viktor Lombarge Tommy Gunner KO (Strikes) 1 01:31

Third fight of the night met Viktor Lobarge and Tommy Gunner. Lobarge didn't give a second for Gunner to get used to the situation, he scored a takedown in the very beginning of the round. Then followed a transition to full mount and Gunner was in great danger! Viktor Lombarge started rocking him with solid ground strikes, Gunner was cut and not much later he was knocked out by the furious beast on top of him!

145 lbs 3 Stefan Struwe Dada Buckeye TKO (Strikes) 2 00:41

The fourth preliminary fight was between Stefan Struwe and Dada Buckeye. It was a solid boxing game, in and out of the clinch but no matter how hard the 19 year old Buckeye was trying, he couldn't cope with the experience and skill that Struwe brought into the fight. Both fighters started aggressive the first round and after 2 and a half minutes Buckeye was rocked by some strong punches from Struwe. Dada managed to survive this bad moment and even landed a solid uppercut, causing a cut on Struwe's face. Round 1 was over after some intense action! In the beginning of round 2 Buckeye tried a vicious cross, which missed, and he made a mistake to open his guard too much. Then Struwe countered with a strong right, which sent Buckeye to the canvas. The 25 year old Struwe followed him to the ground, landed some punches from the mount and it was all over!

265 lbs 3 Victor Ruiz Hinrik Leifsson Submission (Kimura) 1 03:50

The fifth fight in the schedule clashed Victor Ruiz with Hinrik Leifsson. Both fighters started with heavy grappling but it was Ruiz who was the more dominant wrestler. His first successful takedown was followed with some submission attempts which Leifsson defended well. Then Leifsson managed to get back on feet, but not for long! Another good takedown by Ruiz, coming from the clinch, followed by heavy ground strikes and everything seemed to be ready for the finishing move! Nasty Kimura by Ruiz and it was over!

155 lbs 3 Marcus Sharpe Nairo Velasquez Quintana Submission (Armbar) 1 01:36

The opening fight of the main card was between two promising youngsters - Sharpe and Quintana. Both fighters started very aggressively, an early jab by Sharpe caused a cut for Quintana. Then Quintana tried to gain advantage in the clinch but that was not for long! A perfect combination of actions for Sharpe! He managed to pull guard from the clinch, then without wasting time on the ground he pulled-up a nice reversal stunt and not much later, Quintana found himself in great trouble! Sharpe was on his back, trying to rip-out his arm with a spectacular armbar! Quintana couldn't do anything else but to tap-out.

155 lbs 3 Billy Smith Glenn Williamson TKO (Strikes) 2 00:58

It was time for the seventh fight of the evening, a clash between two 20 year old youngsters - Billy Smith and Glenn Williamson. A fight where Billy Smith impressed a lot, being the dominant fighter in the whole first round! Williamson only managed to get two takedowns and to try a few bad submissions which eventually failed. It wasn't his night at all! After a strong first round for him, Smith entered the second round with higher confidence and managed to put his opponent to sleep early in the round!

185 lbs 3 Ingram Tottingham Uriah Hall Submission (Triangle Choke) 1 03:56

Next fight on the line was between two classy fighters - Ingram Tottingham and Uriah Hall. Hall started as the more active stand-up fighter, but then Tottingham took a smart decision to bring the fight to the ground. A successful takedown attempt by him, was followed by a surprising reversal, but that didn't stop Tottingham to execute a triangle choke from the bottom position!

145 lbs 3 Maximus Ragnarsson Ortais Gatavs Decision (Unanimous) 3 05:00

The co-main event met Maximus Ragnarsson and Ortais Gatavs, two experienced and valuable fighters on the DFC's roster! But there really was something wrong with Gatavs! Maybe he was scared, maybe he had personal problems, but he didn't looked focused on the fight at all! That was one of the most one-sided fights I have ever seen! Ragnarsson gave a nice beating to his opponent for 15 minutes, but it was really strange that he didn't manage to finish him earlier! When the time came for referee decision, it was all known and predictable. A 30-24 win for Ragnarsson.

185 lbs 5 Jon Laston Jack McVitie KO (Punch) 2 01:54 185 lbs Title

It was time for the main event! With a title on the table, the contender Jack McVitie was going up against the champion Jon Laston! McVitie started extremely aggressive and it was obvious that he was hungry for the success. He managed to land many shots, which were answered by fewer, but heavier strikes from Jon Laston! One of those strikes opened a nasty cut on McVitie's face and his corner was already afraid for his survival chances in the following 4 rounds. Despite the received cut, McVitie obviously dominated the first round! The second round started the very same way as the first - McVitie was the one looking for it! But it was a spectacle to remember! Both fighters were exchanging strikes like wild animals! Unfortunately for McVitie, Laston's strikes were landing on his face like heavy hammers, while we couldn't say the same for McVitie's punches! A nasty combo by Laston knocked his opponent down, just before the end of the second minute of the round. He let McVitie to stand-up, just to punish him with one of the heaviest uppercuts I have ever seen! Game over for McVitie! Long live the reigning champion!

"Granite" Art Brock

To Frank “N.” Stein,

As I lay down tonight, I think about my next fight.

And my opponent Frank N Stein, who is about to lose his spine

Do I rip it out, or knock it about?

The thing thinks he is scary, the thought makes me merry.

A monster in DFC, more like another fish in the sea.

Is he ready to be eaten, or just get a good beating?

I’m excited about my Vegas debut, I write down a list, a to do.

I need to meet the press, and leave my opponent in distress.

What else should be on the list? Ahh yes, make sure to use my fist!

With great expectations,

Sincerely,

“Granite” Art Brock

P.S. Don’t forget to tune into the fight September 30th at The Palmtree in Vegas!

DFC Sin City 9 Review
by Jay Lawrence

On September 17th, 2016, the 9th edition of the Sin City enterprise brought 1928 MMA fans into Hayashi's Lounge in Las Vegas. Tomas Lindberg became the 5th DFC fighter to accumulate 4 wins in DFC (2 of which were title wins). The event scored a rating of 122.32, becoming the 5th best event in DFC history to date. With an attendance of 1928, this was also the 3rd most attended event in DFC history to date. It was an exciting event holding a title match, the debut of a world champion in Richard Fliehr, and 9 out of 10 fighters finished early with 7 of them finishing in the first round. There was blood, there was glory, some got laid, and some got laid out.

Opening Fight -

135 lbs Maxi Smut DEFEATS Byron Jones TKO (Punches) 1 00:57

Byron Jones is having a rough start to his career. He lost his first fight in 18 seconds and never got anywhere really. In this fight Byron almost didn't make weight, then when the fight started he appeared well out of shape. Jones started off aggressive and got the first punch in, but that was about it. Smut dominated the rest of the fight and within the first minute Byron was mouth-breathing on the mat, LIGHTS OUT. Smut's next fight will be against #4 ranked Bilibro Baggins on 10-01-2016

Fight 2-

170 lbs Nagarjun Sagar Singh Khema DEFEATS Costa Diego TKO (Strikes) 3 03:06

This welterweight fight was a bit of a clinch spam. By "bit" of a clinch spam, I mean Diego attempted to clinch with Khema 60 times and got it just 14 times. For some reason, Diego decided to break the clinch soon after getting it. Why do fighters do this!?!?! It took Singh 3 rounds and 3 minutes to knockout Diego, but he managed to do it. Diego was fired by his manager KLE2 after the fight and DFC hopes to sign Singh (I had to do that) for some future fights.

Fight 3-

145 lbs Mark Hunt DEFEATS Mark Gregory TKO (Strikes) 1

02:38

These two fighters have had some trouble getting the MMA world to take them serious. Both debuted great, but Gregory has been unable to find the win since then and this night was no different. Gregory managed to crack Hung with a good hook, but that just pissed Hunt off. Hunt slammed Gregory against the cage into a clinch and tore him apart from there. 2 minutes of a clinch with Hunt and Gregory was over it. Gregory got smacked with a good uppercut and the referee stopped the fight before Hunt retired Gregory. Hunt looked great in this fight and hopefully he can keep his win streak going. Hunt is now a free agent with good skills and wouldn't be a bad pickup for a newer manager. At 3 losses in a row, Gregory has shown he is not DFC material and has unfortunately been released from his contract. DFC wishes the best for Gregory who has always been a class-act.

Fight 4-

185 lbs Jason ReConnor DEFEATS Jon Smultz Decision (Unanimous) 3 05:00

HOLY sub attempts! These guys looked like two chimpanzees trying to hump each other. Sub attempt after sub attempt, neither could gain the upper hand. Without figuring out how to force their opponent to tapout, these two left the fight up to the judges. Luckily for ReConner, he threw in some ground strikes that gave the judges something to look at. Boring fight, 67 total sub attempts, that has to be a DFC record. Hopefully the next fight will wake up the crowd after this snooze fest. I should fine these fighters for putting me to sleep.

Fight 5-

185 lbs Alexander Dippe DEFEATS Lukasz Nemec TKO (Strikes) 1 04:17

Nemec needed this fight to go to the ground, desperately. On the ground I don't think Dippe could last a minute against Nemec. However, Dippe's sprawls were on point in this fight. Dippe stayed poised and carefully executed his hits in order to stay in a good position to defend takedown attempts from Nemec. While in the clinch Dippe scored knee strike after knee strike and I am surprised Nemec's jaw is still attached. It took 20 knee strikes to take out the determined Nemec, but Dippe Got 'er Done while stile within the first round. Dippe is now on a 3 fight win streak and his next fight will be a tough test in Alfie Jackson on 10-5-2016.

Fight 6-

145 lbs Shane Myres DEFEATS Chat Watts TKO (Strikes) 1 02:45

Shane Myres is a DFC original and one of only a few fighters with 5 fights in the org. He is one of the few fighters that have been in DFC since it was once called Bad Boy Productions. Shane has had a difficult career thus far unable to get on any kind of a streak as he has yet to get 2 wins in a row or even 2 losses in a row. Batting .500%, Myres has still slowly climbed the DFC weight rankings and a win vs. the higher ranked Watts only bettered Shane's position. This fight was not without excitement. Watts brought the fight into a clinch and opened a cut on Myers within the first minute. Myers couldn't get much going from the clinch as Watts started to tear him apart. Watts mistakenly released Myres from the clinch giving Myers some much needed breathing room. Myers tried to take this fight to the ground where he could use his his BJJ brown belt and superior wrestling skills, but Watts didn't allow Myers any chance of a takedown. Watts brought the fight back to the clinch which seemed to be a good move for him, until Myres cracked him with a good punch to the face. Watts was rocked and Myres knew it. Myres decided now to keep the fight in the clinch and Myres moved Watts around like Watts was a drunkard at a bar. Watts tried to defend, but Myers found an uppercut through the hole knocking Watts down to his knees and forcing a finish. Myres, a ground fighter, really showing he knows how to fight on his feet too! Myers' next fight will be against Johny Vargas on 10-5-2016.

Fight 7- UNDERDOG VICTORY

145 lbs Andre Hendrix DEFEATS Raylan Steele Submission (Kimura) 1 02:56

We should just call Hendrix "The Champ". This fighter's first fight ever was for a title, and he won it. His second fight, he lost it. Hendrix left the fighting org business to try his hand in the QFC and went undefeated. After signing with DFC his first fight was again, for another title and he won it. He defended it twice before losing it to the current champ. This marked Andre's first organization fight in which he was not fighting for a title, but it was definitely no walk in the park! Raylan Steele is beast in his own regard coming into this fight undefeated. Steele got two punches in before Hendrix had him on the mat flailing like a fish out of water. In just under three minutes Hendrix squeezed in on his signature move, the Kimura. The fight was over and I sure hope Steele's arm isn't broken. Hendrix earns the Submission of the night award and Hendrix will be fighting Chat Watts in his next fight on 10-8-2016.

Fight 8-

205 lbs Dean Wesson DEFEATS Vince Collins Submission (Armbar) 1 01:27

I think Collins was out of his element a little here. Collins should've been the superior standup fighter, but he seemed sluggish on his feet. Wesson played the defensive at the start, and seemed more than happy to accept the takedown attempt from Collins, moving the fight into Wesson's comfort zone. From the ground Wesson made quick work of Collins by getting a hold of his arm and wrenching down on a strong armbar. Collins quickly tapped and this win puts Wesson on a 5-fight win streak. Wesson next fight will be against the debuting Princess Penny on 10-5-2016.

Co-Main Event-

265 lbs 3 Richard Fliehr DEFEATS James Myres TKO (Punches) 1 00:30

You really never know what you're going to get when you sign a big name fighter who fought elsewhere. In the past they have come to DFC and got their asses handed to them forcing their frustrated managers to release them soon after. Richard Fliehr won 3 out of 5 fights in the St. Petersburg DFC before he moved to DFC in Las Vegas while under new management. Well, Fliehr can fight! and WOW he has a big punch. Fleihr took this fight to the clinch right away and from there Myres was just trying to stay alive. Fleihr attacked Myres from all angles landing every shot and the confused, disoriented Myers left his chin wide open. A big uppercut from Fliehr found the defenseless chin and Myres was left in la-la land, covering up his head as if it were getting attacked by a swarm of bees. I don't think Myres will ever be the same after that punch. Fliehr on the other hand, looks to be a promising new recruit for DFC. Fleihr's next fight will be against the undefeated Yuri Cheryshev on 10-5-2016. Fliehr earns the KO of the night award.

Main Event- UNDERDOG VICTORY

145 lbs Tomas Lindberg DEFEATS Granat Xhaka TKO (Strikes) 5 03:25 145 lbs Title

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/30/30w25.jpgvshttp://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/11/11b5.jpg

With a combined record of 9-0, these two fighters come to the ring as champions in their own right. Knocking out the best opponents DFC has to offer, these two deserved the lime light they got here today and they proved to the world they are warriors. This was a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tomas Lindberg and Granat Xhaka. Lindberg's entrance music is At The Gates - The Book of Sand. A fine choice. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

It was clear right off the start that Xhaka wanted to keep this fight in close from the clinch and Lindberg wanted to keep a distance. Xhaka took the fight into the clinch twice in this round and dominated while there, but Lindberg was quick to break the clinch and while standing at a distance Lindberg's boxing skills really shined. Lindberg landed more hits and was the clear winner of the first round.

The second round started off the same with Xhaka going to the clinch early and destroying Lindberg while in the clinch. Lindberg broke the clinch less than a minute later and picked Xhaka apart from a distance. Xhaka had the reach advantage in this fight, but Lindberg is a far superior boxer who is quick on his feet and quicker with his fists. At about the 2:30 mark, Lindberg faked a jab and through a straight right landing on Xhaka's temple. Xhaka was clearly rocked by the punch and the fight appeared to be over here. Xhaka stayed in the fight and stayed on his feet though, like a true warrior. It didn't mean much however as Lindberg continued his onslaught like a fully automatic machine gun at a paper target. Xhaka dodged and moved the best he could, but Lindberg kept him backing up and wanted the finish; he wouldn't get it in the second round.

In the third round Xhaka went back to trying to get this fight in a clinch. Xhaka really needed to clinch with Lindberg in order to have any chance of winning this fight. Lindberg somehow kept his distance while also keeping Xhaka on his heels. Xhaka became a beaten up moving punching bag for Lindberg. Unable to find many openings Xhaka was being completely outboxed in this round, but Xhaka was taking every shot Lindberg through and Lindberg was starting to show his lack of stamina. Perhaps Xhaka was just tiring Lindberg out in order to take advantage later.

By the 4th round all near 2000 fans at Hayashi's lounge were on their feet. Both fighters in the cage were gassed out, Xhaka looked like he was ran over by a dump truck, twice. Lindberg looked like he just got done running a marathon and he probably felt like that too after so many punches thrown. The bell ran and despite how tired the fighters were, they exploded out of their corners like it was round 1 all over again. Xhaka went for the clinch and Lindberg punished him for it. Xhaka went into counter-mode and tried to counter Lindberg's punches. He got in a few good shots, but nowhere near the sum of punches Lindberg was landing. Xhaka was again unable to bring the fight to a clinch and Lindberg dominated yet another round. If Xhaka had any chance of winning this fight it would need to come in the 5th round.

The last round had the arena in a roar, the noise was so loud the fighters couldn't hear their own corner coaches. Both fighters were clearly exhausted and Lindberg came out in round 5 throwing more punches. A back pedaling Xhaka was taking every punch like it tickled. The crazy guy had a smile on his face as he was literally getting pummeled into the ground. A lesser fighter would've been dropped by any of those punches, did Xhaka have morphine pulsing through his veins? How could he stay standing while taking so many hits!? Win or lose, I'm a fan of this guy by now and even the Lindberg fans were cheering for Xhaka now. Xhaka took the energy from the crowd and closed the gap on Lindberg, finally bringing the fight into a clinch again. Could Xhaka win this? Maybe! From the clinch Xhaka tried to throw some punches, but his energy was so drained he was like a wet noodle smacking a table. Xhaka kept Lindberg in the clinch, but Lindberg found uppercut after uppercut knocking Xhaka's head back. The last uppercut looked like it could've broken Xhaka's neck. Xhaka's body was exhausted and no matter how much his brain told his body to go further, Xhaka had nothing left in the tank. Lindberg, also exhausted, found enough energy to strike Xhaka a few more times until finally Xhaka couldn't even defend himself. At 3:25 in the 5th round, the referee stopped the fight for the sake of Xhaka's health.

This was probably the best fight I have ever seen. Xhaka has one hell of a chin and took 180 punches from Lindberg who has knocked out ALL his previous opponents in the first minute. I hope these two fighters fight again one day as I would love to see this fight another time. Lindberg successfully defended his title and I'd say he deserves to wear the gold. Wow, just wow! Both fighters earned the fight of the night award, obviously!

Maurice Smith (290015)

"Management told me after my last win that I will get the next title shot at Featherweight. Yet here I am about to fight Dom Cruz who has only one fight under his non-title cheap ass belt. But you see, management also knows that I love to fight. I live to fight. I'm not going to sit around and wait for that title shot. I'm going to fuck up the entire division on my way to glory. Cruz, you probably think this is your fast-track to the title. But in actual fact, you've just ruined your career. "The Decisionater" my ass. Terrible fucking decision"

"Stompin" Rob Pomper

From DFC-SP to DFC-LV

"Two Chugga Chugga, WTF is that? Is that from Thomas and Friends? I think I can, I think I can, I think I can, well he better think harder. Give me who ever you want, they better be ready to get STOMPED!"

That was from a earlier possible card. It's going to change. I'm not sure if that fight is still going to happen or not, The Survivor Tournament got extended to two more rounds and the final is going to be on the NOC card, so one of the non-Champion vs Champion fights is getting pulled.

His chin won't last long with fights like that.

No kidding, still an impressive feat though as I have seen pucnhing bags been shredded up over less wear and tear. If he actually learns how to throw punches BACK he may be a threat to the top guys.

My fighter Granat showed a lot of heart and a hell of chin. He's been training hard and a little down on himself that he let the title slip away. He promises to work on the areas that need improving. His mind frame is that he never lost a fight and that loss taught him something about himself and what needs to be worked on. His next fight on October 7th he is promising a 1st round knockout. He will be back and he will work his way back to another title shot.

Glad to hear it! I'm definitely a fan of Xhaka's now! I think that is both the most amount of punches I've seen someone take and the most punches I've seen someone sustain after being rocked. He has to have a damn steel chin because Lindberg is no pillow puncher, he's knocked everyone else out in the first round!

DFC: Mayhem 11 – Getstoned vs. Bottura (23 September 2016 – Hayashi’s Lounge, Las Vegas) Preview and Predictions – Written by Gabe T.S. Gardner (112290)
Sponsored by “King Of Fists” fight wear, official clothing of DFC – Las Vegas
Bet on this card using “Sin City Bookies” and “Brazilian Bookies”, your instincts could be worth money!

A stellar card is arranged and it just goes to show that sometimes a card doesn’t need a title fight to get your attention. World grappling champ looks to overcome his debut defeat and climb back up the rankings by taking on undefeated BJJ brown belt Bottura. Let’s get to it!

Fight 1
Ted Getstoned 4-1-0 vs Caio “The Natural” Bottura 4-0-0: 5 Rounds of 5 Minutes 155lbs

I was SO sure that Getstoned would come in and sweep the division. Undefeated as a grappler, and a world champion at that – I thought that his mat skills would see the other killers on the floor be outmatched completely. But this is the business of fighting, and shit just happens.

I think bottura has what it takes to submit Getstoned if a mistake is made, but I think Ted will be way less gung-ho, and try and grind out the result, but end up getting caught out in the second round after a few failed sub attempts of his own.

I think he needs to start favouring his ground and pound when he faces BJJ experts and I don’t see him utilising that here.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Caio Bottura Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Fight 2
Lazzar “Warlock” Mcshrads 5-1-0 vs Alexander “Phenom” Rogov 2-1-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 155lbs

Mcshrads is just another example of how dangerous the division at 155 is right now. If you looked around that rankings table you’d see a about the right amount of deadly fighting ability that I would need to fend off an alien invasion. It’s THAT good.

Rogov is no slouch either and I don’t expect this to be a steamroll victory, I just don’t think he will be able to out grapple his dance partner.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Mcshrads, Round 1 (SUB)

Fight 3
“The Swedish Terror” Martin Skvardsonn 2-1-0 v Clinton “Rampage” Smaxsons 2-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 205lbs

Can Skvardsonn reclaim his position at the top of the light heavyweight division? Short answer? No. Long answer? Nooooooooooooooo.

You may be surprised, and say “Oh Gabe, you may be very handsome, charming and cool – but how can you pick a guy who won a title fight in just 11 seconds over a guy with just 2 pro fights” well calm down ladies and I will explain.

In actual fact, Smaxsons has only had one less fight than the Swede, and Skvardsonn won the title when the org was still in its infancy and the division hadn’t fully settled down yet. I think that Smaxsons is a boxer that may be on par with Skvardsonn and at a much younger age too. I see the natural ability at that relative youth to be a telling sign.

Round two KO for me.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Rampage Smaxsons, Round 2 (TKO/KO)

Fight 4
Ulf Haug 4-1-0 v Double Aught 3-2-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 265lbs

While I think that Aught is the better rounded of the two fighters, I am afraid that the fight IQ of his opponent, Haug is just too damn high.

Both fighters would predominantly like to keep this one on the floor, but what happens when white belts tangle with brown belts? To quote Joe Rogan: “Somebodies getting strangled”

My my,sssss just looking at this card I can just tell I’m going to predict a lot of wins by SUB for a change.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Ulf Haug, Round 1 (SUB)

Fight 5
Buzz Meeks 3-0-0 v “Gecko” Gary Wallace 1-2-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 185lbs

This is what epitomises a great middleweight fight in my opinion (in my favourite division). Two great strikers, trained in opposing disciplines battling It out in a war that could last seconds or the full three rounds.

I am on the edge of my seat just waiting for the walkouts for this one.
I do however think I know how this will end. Meeks is a deadly assassin in the clinch, and puts up a barrage few can withstand. If they stand and bang regularly I think the diverse striking ability of Wallace wins the day, but that just won’t happen. Clinch city is a bad place to live, population: Gary Wallace.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Buzz Meeks, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Fight 6
“The Legacy” Mark Marx Jr 1-0-0 v Ogier Okalu 1-2-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 170lbs

A short prediction for me. Not that I devalue Okalu’s great wrestling skills at all, but his opponent is superior in his area of expertise and finished his first fight far more impressively than Okalu fought in all three of his fights so far.

Marx Jr simply has his number I am afraid.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Mark Marx Jr, Round 1 (SUB)

Fight 7
Joey Davis 2-2-0 v Rickson “Aranha” Vieira 2-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 170lbs

Both fighters here are very talented, but again I feel that the grappling skills of Aranha are going to catch Davis, a white belt off his guard.

I think that Davis tries to clinch, but gets taken down, and put in a submission he can’t escape in round 1 or 2 after some close shaves for Vieira.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W
) Rickson Vieira, Round 1 (SUB)

Fight 8
Wayne “The Pebble” Johnson 1-1-0 v “The Polish Prodigy” Marcin Hold 2-0-1: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 155lbs

WOW WAYNE! Who did you piss off to be put up against Marcin Hold? Okay, I’ll preview this as best I can without giving away my prediction too early. Marcin Hold is going to win (damn it!). Okay, in all seriousness, while Johnson is a capable fighter, I think that putting him in the same cage as The Polish Prodigy is borderline abuse, as Hold is by far the more talented fighter and the latest threat to come into the lightweight division – one that is already swimming with sharks and teeming with killers. Submission victory for Hold very very early on.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Marcin Hold, Round 1 (SUB)

Fight 9
Warren “Kimbo” Peace 0-0-0 v Kazushi Aoki 0-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 265lbs

Two debuting heavyweights here, one a hard hitting brutal power boxer, the other a jiu jitsu brown belt, a discipline that is always deadly, but reduces it effectiveness vs great striking ability as you go up the rankings. All it takes is a few bad punches frim Peace and Aoki could find himself waking up in the back of an ambulance. That said I think that if he can weather an early storm, he will have his way with Peace in a ground battle, being the far superior wrestler and BJJ artist, and could have him tapping out in seconds.

I think that is the way it will play out, and am going for a round 1 sub.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Kazushi Aoki, Round 1 (SUB)

Fight 10
Corey “The Blood Archer” Schmal 0-0-0 v “Total Khanage” Chanar Khan 2-2-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 185lbs

A middleweight fight and pro debut here for Corey Schmal, as he takes on Chanar Khan. Both fighters are decent strikers but I anticipate that after being on the receiving end of some heavy losses as of late, Khan will come in cautious, whereas the debuting Schmal will come in eager and game to fight, and think that is a standup war his eagerness will see him find those decisive shots and put Khan away at some point in the second round.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Corey Schaml, Round 2 (TKO/KO)

WOW! I don’t think I have ever predicted so many submission victories before? Is it something in the water? In any case, this card will have some absolutely blinding action and as one fight fan to another, this one has all the potential to have some fight of the year quality displays. See you soon!

This makes me think of my fighter Jim Lahey's title fight tomorrow against Larry Shreve. I'm the little girl. This is the first fight I bet against myself. Not looking forward to being murdered tomorrow.
