Tristan Farsight: Oh you call those punches? You can tap me so the judge's call it a hit strike, but if we ever met on the street You'd get to see how much those "punches" mean in an actual fight. Just cause you can tap me with no weight or damage behind it doesn't make it a punch. You had no desire to fight, you just wanted to secure your measly point victory and get out of there so you could pretend your a fighter. Your must be one of those people who thinks the boxers in the olympics are better than the professionals. Points, its all about the points! Did you practice for the fight by playing wii boxing? Wouldn't want to injure those fragile fists of yours by actually hitting something. You can talk about landing 65+ punches, butI'd take more damage from a 10 year old if he hit me than I did from your sad excuse of a "strike".

Tristan Farsight: Look at all my past fights. I like to fuck bitches and smoke some crack, after each fight and unload a little, something you couldn't do if you wanted to with a face like yours. There hasn't been a single fight I haven't taken off at least 10 weeks afterwards.

SyFi 40 Preview
by Malikoy Muza

April 21st, 2018 - Bondi Outdoor Arena in Sydney, Australia

Sydney Fights are back in the Bondi Outdoor Arena for SyFi 40, headlined by two championship fights as the Featherweight and Light Heavyweight championships are on the line. Before we go on to the fights, remember to go grab your SyFi merch at Forge Clothing Co. in the Montreal highstreet!

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/16/16w19.jpg VS. http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/0/14854727993886.png

For the Featherweight Title - © Ilya Muromets (Илья Муромец) [7 - 0] vs. Sergei Geng [4 - 1]
The champion Ilya Muromets is quickly establishing a fearsome reputation inside the cage with four finishes in his four SyFi fights. Initially he knocked out Hodi Garbandit to win the belt and in SyFi 31 succesfully defended it against a similarly built featherweight in Sun Ming. They exchanged punches in the clinch for the duration of the bout, something Muromets' next opponent Geng is no stranger to. He made his debut in SyFi 31 by defeating Silvio Dante with a TKO and is now running a four fight win streak in org competition. Ilya Muromets once again faces a similar build as Sergei Geng is a talented striker with good grappling credentials. This one's going to be incredibly even as they're sure to exchange punches on the feet, though Geng has a slight knockout power advantage to Muromets.
PICK: Pick 'Em

For the Light Heavyweight Title - © Mister 'The Clinch F---fest' McNasty [7 - 3] vs. Cornelius Albatross [6 - 1]
Damatang Camara was given the task of facing Mister McNasty for his first title defence, but he had no answer to McNasty's grappling genius in the clinch. The Light Heavyweight belt is on the line as Mister McNasty defends against Cornelius Albatross, who is 2 - 0 in SyFi, 4 - 1 overall in org competition. He too is a clincher, but has a stronger thaiboxing background than the champ. The better wrestler, McNasty will likely be able to control most of the time spent in the clinch, so Albatross is better off trying to outbox him on the outside. Both of these men are certified physical specimen, so they have the power to put each other away. McNasty's wrestling advantage and solid chin will see him emerge victorious here.
PICK: Mister McNasty by TKO

Lightweight Division - Pat Williams [6 - 2] vs. Murphy 'The Bomber' Brown [6 - 3 - 1]
Murphy Brown is getting introduced to the Sydney Fights in an impressive fashion, going against Pat Williams, a submission artist who has got three submissions and only one loss in his SyFi record so far. Brown is 3-3-1 overall in org competition, a sprawl and brawler who will have issues stopping Williams' takedowns. That is despite Pat Williams not being the best wrestler, but he has taken down guys with better takedown defence than Murphy Brown. On the ground, Brown has no answer to Williams' legit brown belt in jiu jitsu.
PICK: Pat Williams by submission

Lightweight Division - Chief Thunder Rolls [3 - 0] vs. Kento Ban Gbus [3 - 1]
Both of these lightweights are coming off 2 wins each, though very different stylistically. Chief Thunder Rolls has established himself as a ground and pound artist with KO power, while Kento Ban Gbus is a good boxer with heavy hands. They have a good chance each of getting the win. Ban Gbus can't be taken down too many times as Rolls is sure to chip away with dangerous ground and pound that can quickly lead to a stoppage.
PICK: Chief Thunder Rolls by TKO

Featherweight Division - Silvio Dante [3 - 2] vs. 'Shade of Hades' Evan Page [3 - 2]
Evan Page is making first appearance in Sydney Fights, having gone 3-1 in Bumfights before jumping ship and actually grabbed their Lightweight belt, for whatever that's worth. Dante is 2-1 in SyFi, having been defeated by Sergei Geng in SyFi 31. Page is a striker with some grappling knowledge, but this'll likely be a straight up stand up battle. Evan Page has the better chin, otherwise they're evenly matched and it's almost a toss up as to who is the winner.
PICK: Evan Page by decision

Welterweight Division - Cal Riven [1 - 1] vs. Maksim 'North Wind' NoMasVlasov [0 - 1]
We have another SyFi debutant in this one as Maksim NoMasVlasov goes head to head with Cal Riven who is one a piece in SyFi thus far, having last finished Kase Weller in just 27 seconds. Riven has some wrestling credentials, but his takedown ability is very questionable so it remains to be seen if he can use his better ground game as an advantage. The key for Riven is going to be landing as many punches as possible, since NoMasVlaosv is a pure boxer and can likely do it all day long. The favorite going in, Cal Riven shouldn't leave this one in the hands of the judges.
PICK: Cal Riven by TKO

Lightweight Division - Bernardo De Barros [4 - 1] vs. Che Huu Mo [2 - 1]
Bernardo De Barros makes his return to the cage after losing to Gennady Golovkin in a fight for the vacant Lightweight belt. De Barros tried 9 takedowns in the 4 minutes the fight lasted, but couldn't get the now Lightweight champion grounded to utilize his jiu jitsu expertise. Che Huu Mo was on the losing side to Xavier Merlin in SyFi 27 by unanimous decision, but as the superior wrestler he will have a good chance against De Barros as long as he chooses a viable strategy. I don't think Mo wants to sit on the guard of De Barros for too long, but it's hard to see these two ground fighters putting on a big brawl on the feet. Bernardo De Barros is a constant submission threat, though the Vietnamese is no BJJ scrub either with a certified purple belt. The winner is hard to pick as Mo will likely be able to control the grappling while De Barros can grab an arm lock at any moment.
PICK: Che Huu Mo by decision

Featherweight Division - Javier 'Jiujiteiro' Dominguez [2 - 1 - 1] vs. Bigg 'Daddy' Sugg [2 - 3]
Back on his winning ways as expected, Bigg Sugg got a TKO finish over El Mas Loco in SyFi 30 in the very first round. A ground specialist, Javier Dominguez has succesfully outfought all of his adversaries on the ground thus far and this fight's going to be no different. Even though Sugg's an accomplished wrestler, he hasn't displayed much in the way of takedown defence yet. Whether or not Dominguez can get a takedown is the key to this match up and even if he can't, he's still a threat on his back.
PICK: Javier Dominguez by submission

Bantamweight Division - Yodsawan Sitsongrit [2 - 2] vs. Zurab 'The Wolf' Koshadze [2 -1]
The Georgian Zurab Koshadze is walking down to the cage for the fourth time as he takes on Yodsawan Sitsongrit, who is making his Sydney Fights debut. A very talented Thaiboxer, Sitsongrit is 2-0 in org competition as his only losses were in early in his career in the local circuit against much more talented and experienced opposition. Coming in as a heavy underdog, Koshadze needs to use his grappling to neutralize Yodsawan's stand up skills. Somewhat of a decision fighter, it seems unlikely he'd get the finish on Sitsongrit on the ground and he's going to have a tough time lasting 15 minutes with him on the feet.
PICK: Yodsawan Sitsongrit by knockout

Welterweight Division - Buddy Quincy [0 - 2] vs. Percy 'The Wild Wollongonger' Williams [2 - 3]
Buddy Quincy and Percy Williams have both had somewhat of a rough start to their careers in Sydney Fights. In SyFi 20, Quincy got instantly taken down by Ariel At Night with a subsequent finish coming three minutes later. Williams has made two appearances, losing to Ulysses Klaw and Steve Collins. Before that, he lost to now SyFi fighter Max Luther in the local circuit as well, so he's looking to turn his three fight losing streak around. Overall they're both jiu jitsu guys, but Williams has better takedowns and will likely ground Quincy from the get-go and work submissions.
PICK: Percy Williams by submission or decision

205 lbs. - (#2) Melvin Comeau vs (#8) Mujahid Jackson

The main event, with both men coming off of KO victories, has a high possibility of going out in a blaze. Comeau never lets his fights end in the judges hands. Whether he's knocking someone out or getting knocked out, his extensive Muay Thai knowledge plays the biggest factor in his fights. Jackson, being undefeated, and a boxer/grappler will definitely put in work against an experienced monster like Comeau, but can he take home the win?

Prediction - Comeau via KO Rd. 2

205 lbs. - (#1) Billy Arseworth vs (#10) Damatang Camara

The co-main event features two highly skilled combatants that have no problem on the ground, or on the feet. Four Submission of the Night performances proves that fact for Arseworth, and with Camara's fresh loss to the champion, this could create championship contention for the #1 contender, Arseworth.

Prediction - Arseworth via Unanimous Decision

265+ lbs. - (#2) Hulk Hogan vs (#3) Fedor Vovchanchyn

Grappler versus striker matchup, except Vovchanchyn isn't too behind on his wrestling. Hogan will look for the takedown. The variable, can he get Vovchanchyn down? Due to a fresh submission loss, we can assume Vovchanchyn has learned from his mistakes with a high level grappler, and should make this an interesting matchup.

Prediction - Vovchanchyn via TKO Rd. 1

205 lbs. - (#7) Mauro Carnera vs (#13) Sheamus Meallen

Knockout artists clash in this event, and hands will fly. That being said, if grappling becomes a factor in this fight, it could very well go in Carnera's favor, if he can get a superior wrestler to the ground. Neither man has lost in their careers, but that will change soon.

Prediction - Carnera via TKO Rd. 3

265+ lbs. - (#9) Jeff Messer vs (#5) Ole Anderson

Messer is coming off of two losses from strong grapplers. Interestingly enough, it just so happens Anderson, his opponent, is one. Jiu Jitsu seems to be Messer's kryptonite, being a one dimensional striker.

Prediction - Anderson via Submission Rd. 1

265+ lbs. - (#4) Matt Willis vs (#15) Raymond Kim

This should be a ground battle for the most part. Willis with three submission wins is looking for his fourth against an opponent with inferior BJJ. Sounds too good to be true. Maybe so.

Prediction - Willis via Submission Rd. 1

205 lbs. - (#14) William Lindham vs (#25) Isaiah Cooley

These two strikers from different spectrums of the game are going to try and take each other's heads off. Cooley, being a KO artist, had just recently been TKO'ed, himself, his last fight, by a fantastic Muay Thai artist, which Lindham happens to be.

Prediction - Cooley via TKO Rd. 2

265+ lbs. - (#25) Charlie Villenueva vs (#27) Andrew Brown

Both of these fighters are no strangers to losses, coming off of three in a row, respectively. Brown's most recent loss, due to submission by the same caliber BJJ artist his now opponent, Villenueva, is. Somebody is coming out of their slump.

Prediction - Villenueva via Submission Rd. 3

265+ lbs. - (#16) Ricardo Stewart vs (#18) Bwana Mkubwa

Stewart debuts SFC the red corner fighter against Mkubwa, a man who has fought twice in the organization, and for good reason. It will be a challenge for both of these gentlemen, or not so gentle men.

Prediction - Stewart via Unanimous Decision

205 lbs. - (#26) Kazuma Kuwabara vs (#54) Papa Dee

Kuwabara is no stranger to submitting strikers, with two submission wins on his record and two Subs of the night performances, Papa Dee has a lot on his plate. He better hope his takedown defense is crisp.

Prediction - Kuwabara via Submission Rd. 1

Glass Joe: Stopped by at Kishimotos gym to take him up on that offer to train together. Big mistake, was his cardio day. Crazy guy took me out for a marathon, I'm skipping training today.

But more inspired than ever to fight again. The Cherokee tribe is up for a beating on the 27th, just as the one they had in Las Vegas recently by my teammate Von Kaiser.

Even though he is more putting on than cutting weight to fight MMA, Yodsawan Sitsongrit (322135) made a point of wearing the towel and weighing in muay thai style. Having fought at 108-122 pounds in Thailand during his teenage years, he ate a Big Mac on the way to Bondi Outdoor Arena facilities and drank a strawberry flavored milk shake in order to reach 133.8 pounds. His official listed weight of 138 pounds is the result of a calculated bulking diet right after he came to Rio which consisted of daily industrial loads of shrimp and barbecues for dinner in order to put some weight and cater to western combat sports' fans craving for big men.

Yodsawan was recruited to the Sitsongrit MMA camp coming off four decision losses at Lumpinee and Rajadamnern Stadium, but even in defeat his "muay fimeu" style (well rounded, technician fighter) caught the attention of rogue manager Theksit Ruengruong, who bought out his contract from the Kiatponthip camp for roughly $50,000 baht (less than $1,600 US dollars). He followed that up with two more losses to start his MMA career making it six losses in a row!

For the Lightweight Title - © Gennady 'Gennadyevich' Golovkin [5 - 2] vs. (#1) 'The Black Prophet' Akimbo Spice [4 - 0]
Perhaps no other two fighters in Sydney Fights have as much a right to claim their divisional title as the reigning champion Gennady Golovkin and the inaugural SyFi Lightweight champion Akimbo Spice. Spice never actually lost his title, as he was stripped of it by SyFi boss Mr. Lineman due to the controversial fallout between Akimbo and his then manager Theksit Ruengruong. Spice rebounded with a victory in a number one contendership bout, where he made short work of the then #2 ranked Lightweight contender Max Luther. Both the champion and the challenger are putting their undefeated 4 - 0 SyFi records on the line as Golovkin looks to make his first title defence. Gennady has never let his opponent see the second round inside the SyFi cage, having racked three TKOs and one KO in very dominant fashion. Known for his sharp boxing and good chin, both of those will surely be put to test by Spice, who, despite being more of a thaiboxer, has very good hands and likes to compliment that by mixing in some kicks as well. Vegas odds might have the reigning champion as an underdog but don't let that fool you: you don't get to hold a belt in SyFi unless you're a certified badass!
PICK: Akimbo Spice by TKO

Middleweight Division - Joey 'Contender Crusher' Hatton [9 - 2] vs. (#4) Jack Anvile [5 - 3]
Coming over from NJMMA, Joey Hatton went 4 - 2 in the organization with 4 sub wins, 4 sub of the night awards and only two decision losses. Of course Jack Anvile is no stranger to the organization himself having went 3 - 3 there. Anvile has one in the win column here in Sydney Fights with a 29-28 decision over Burduada No Cranio in SyFi 32. The key for the fight is going to be submission defence, especially for Jack Anvile, as Joey Hatton's 8 out of 9 wins are by submissions. Anvile can take shots and is better on the feet, but he may struggle to keep the fight there. However, should he succeed, he can walk away with a comfortable decision victory. Joey Hatton needs not only to actively go for takedowns, but set them up well so he can drive through and turn the fight into a grappling clinic.
PICK: Joey Hatton by submission

Heavyweight Division's No. 1 Contendership - Ross Barkley [5 - 2] vs. (#1) Travis Dillon [5 - 0]
Ross Barkley is likewise making his SyFi debut, having gone 3 - 1 in NJMMA and 5 - 2 overall in org competition. A boxer with a seemingly unbreakable chin, Barkley has four TKOs and one KO in his record as he goes against one of the brightest prospects in the entire organization in Travis Dillon. Likewise a devastating boxer, Dillon has finished all his three SyFi opponents by TKO in the first round and has now ascended to the top spot in the rankings with a chance to face the evil posterboy (freak) Rick Piano. Before he sets his sights on the belt, Dillon needs to go through Barkley first. The more experienced fighter, the prevailing wisdom is that Ross Barkley might be the slightly better grappler, but their stand up skills should be right about even and let's face it, this isn't going to be a wrestling match. Expect Travis Dillon to throw bombs, while Barkley tends to outnumber his opposition in strikes landed. If he can weather the storm of Dillon, he might be able to outbox him on the numbers alone. Then again, I'm sure the #1 ranked Heavyweight contender would have something to say about that!
PICK: Travis Dillon by knockout

Middleweight Division - Victor 'Sabertooth' Creed [3 - 0] vs. (#3) Ciro Di 'Immortal' Marzio [3 - 1]
The Italian Ciro Di Marzio has already put three victories together in his slow burn to get to the top of the middleweight division. His first pair of opponents got stopped so quick they decided to retire from the sport right after the hammering Di Marzio gave them. Victor Creed is a tested talent though, 2 - 0 in IFC before jumping ship to make his first appearance in Sydney this Sunday. A classic striker versus grappler match up, Di Marzio's wrestling pedigree has yet to be tested in his career, so it'll be intriguing to see how well he'll do against such a formidable wrestler as Victor Creed. On the flip side, Creed hasn't faced off with a truly great striker either. They're both in with a good chance, Sabertooth has the slight advantage though, being the more complete martial artist.
PICK: Victor Creed by TKO (ground and pound)

Welterweight Division - Johnny Johnsen [5 - 2] vs. Scotty Tuote [3 - 0]
A very unique fighter like the ink on his skin, Scotty Tuote likes to get up close, unleash knees and never let go. Despite being undefeated in his three fights in SyFi, Tuote has shown to be vulnerable to takedowns even though he is otherwise a solid wrestler. Johnny Johnsen will be looking to exploit that weakness and keep him grounded to work submissions. Johnsen is one a piece in SyFi with three sub wins in his record and his trainers tell me he has a certified BJJ purple belt. The superior all-around fighter, Johnsen's only worry is the clinch game of Tuote, as he has shown his capability of grinding out decisions simply by landing a long succession of strikes during a fight. This could honestly go either way, but if Johnsen can get a couple of takedowns he's in for the win.
PICK: Johnny Johnsen by decision

Middleweight Division - (#5) Man Itizer [7 - 4] vs. Kollin Black [2 - 0]
Man Itizer has kept busy during his short career having already collected 11 fights in his record, though only one of those is in SyFi. Somewhat similar a match up as Johnson vs. Tuote, a clincher who likes to use knees versus a grappler. Kollin Black had an incredible 10 second kimura finish in his debut against Andryu Vasconcelos, but other than that has only gone the distance once in a local circuit fight, where he didn't manage to do whole lot on the ground against a BJJ brown belt. He'll have a significant advantage over Itizer when it comes to jiu jitsu though, it'll be only a matter of if he can level change succesfully or not.
PICK: Kollin Black by submission

Light Heavyweight Division - Andrew Elliot [1 - 0] vs. Jamison Cassidy [1 - 0]
These two light heavyweights are both dangerous submission artists coming off a win in their professional and SyFi debuts. Jamison Cassidy is the more complete fighter with a solid wrestling base and decent stand up skills, while Elliot is a pure jiu jitsu specialist. This is a practical toss up as they're both likely to go on the ground and try for submissions, so it's going to more of a test of grappling skill than anything. Cassidy has the advantage in wrestling and is hoping to make it count here. They're so dangerous on the ground it can be over quickly, or they can cancel each other out, though a submission finish is more likely.
PICK: Pick 'Em

Light Heavyweight Division - Petr Antonovich [1 - 0] vs. Jaylon Anderson [2 - 1]
Jaylon Anderson has gathered a 2 - 1 record in SyFi, last finishing Dukey Tots in just 29 seconds. Petr Antonovich in his lone appearance got a decision victory over Kevin Durant in a striker vs. striker battle much like this one. The one tool Anderson has in his arsenal over Antonovich is his wrestling, as he likes to hug people on the ground and try to grind out decisions. Antonovich will have a hard time stopping the takedown attempts though, so he needs to go for a knockout.
PICK: Jaylon Anderson by decision

Welterweight Division - Roy Whitaker [2 - 0] vs. Risto Halonen [1 - 2 - 1]
Oh boy, this is going to be a practical slaying by Roy Whitaker. Not only the far better all around fighter, Whitaker is also at least as good or better than Halonen in every individual discipline as well. The Finn would be lucky to make it out of the first round, Whitaker's going to get another knockout added to his record in his first showing for the promotion.
PICK: Roy Whitaker by TKO

Welterweight Division - Edgar Avetisyan [2 - 0] vs. Idont Know [2 - 2]
We haven't seen too much of Edgar Avetisyan yet as he hasn't even spent two minutes in the cage in his two victories. Idont Know has went 1 - 2 in SyFi and while he has a great double leg, Avetisyan just looks to be too good for him. Know has a chance in grabbing a decision or a surprise submission as long as Edgar doesn't finish him by then, which he likely will. He needs to let his hands go, stay on the outside and stay active.
PICK: Edgar Avetisyan by TKO

Antonovich won by tko in his lone appearance ..in the first round itself :)
hoping to do the same in this outing as well

Light Heavyweight Division - Petr Antonovich [1 - 0] vs. Jaylon Anderson [2 - 1]

SyFi Weekend Recap

A story of two sides, 3 great Events for SyFi, all near or above the 150 rating wise, and full Arenas for all Events, however, the ranking on Sunday Afternoon shows 21, so outside of the major Criteria all wanted to achieve, but let's look at the Action:
Friday:
The Main and cO-Main Event are big indicators for the 205 Division, with Former Champion Camara getting a TKO over new signing Arseworth, and Melvin Comeau beating Mujahid Jackson, both this fighters will soon face off in their quest at a title shot.
Mauro Carnera in more 205 action defeated Sheamus Meallan, to qualify for a fight against Title Holder Mister McNasty, some stipulations have interfered however, and currently that fight is classed as non-title. Managers are still discussing stipulations, the heavy hitters also took center stage in the card, Vovchavchyn and Wills won in impressive fashion, and will face off for a shot at a title fight soon.
Fight of the night: Charlie Villenueva vs Andrew Brown
KO of the night: Bwana Mkubwa
Sub of the night: Mauro Carnera
Saturday:
10 fights and not a single submission, thats rare in SyFi Action, but happened Saturday, in the cage, it was 205 Champ McNasty defending his belt in Style with a 2nd round KO. 145 Champ Илья Муромец didn't have such a good day, beaten by Sergei Geng he lost his title in his 2nd Defense. Afterwards it was tough to understand the scenes, but it seems Sergei Gengs Manager currently is missing, and unless he soon will return, it may prevent a quick return to the cage for Sergei Geng. In other cage action, at 155 Murphy Brown and Chief Thunder Rolls got important victories, both fighters are eager to get involved in title contention soon.
Fight of the night: Che Huu Mo vs Bernardo De Barros
KO of the night: Cal Riven
Sunday:
On Sunday all fights eneded by KO, TKO or Submission, the judges didn't have a word. In the Main Event Akimbo Spice regained a title he held under different name and management. Genady Golovkin tried to handle him with all his experience, but with the start of Round 2 Akimbo exploded and won the title.
At 185 Joey Hatton and Victor Creed scored valuable wins, while Hatton will soon be a name to consider in the title race. Creed aged 19 will be slowly build up by his management. In a fight of KO Artists at 265 it was Ross Barkley in his first fight at SyFi to beat Travis Dillon and punch himself a ticket to a fight with Poster Boy Rick Piano.
Fight of the night: Joey Hatton vs Jack Anvile
KO of the night: Jamison Cassidy

For the Bantamweight Title - © 'Sumato Attack' Daichi Kishimoto [5 - 1] vs. (#1) Dieselnoi Por Pramuk [4 - 0]
This marks the first time Daichi Kishimoto walks down the aisle as the Bantamweight champion of Sydney Fights, having defeated Glass Joe for the belt in SyFi 34. He'll be hoping to turn in a better effort than his two predecessors, who lost it without one title defence, as he faces the challenger Dieselnoi Por Pramuk. Por Pramuk has shown to be a clever operator with seemingly unlimited tools in his disposal. Not only a solid stand up fighter who won both of his two career kickboxing bouts, Por Pramuk is also a capable submission artist. That became evidently clear to Gary Dema and Zac Hendal as they were forced to tap to Dieselnoi. It's usually hard to say what his strategy will be going into a fight, but due to Daichi Kishimoto's lethal jiu jitsu skill he should go for the knockout. Kishimoto will no doubt get a takedown at some point, but he can't rest easy as the challenger has an active guard game with plenty of locks in his arsenal.
PICK: Pick 'Em

Light Heavyweight Division - (#5) Unknown Combatant [6 - 4] vs. Ken Ring [5 - 1]
The number five ranked light heavyweight, Unknown Combatant has only had one fight in SyFi in form of a kimura win over Benjamin Bronckhorsten, while Ken Ring lost his debut to Cornelius Albatross in SyFi 33. Unfortunately for Ring this looks to be a bad night, Combatant is simply too good in every regard and will walk all over him. The only thing that remains to be seen is how Unknown Combatant finishes the fight.
PICK: Unknown Combatant by TKO

Middleweight Division - (#8) Sammmy Kilbach [5 - 1] vs. Chief 'Night' Stalker [4 - 3]
Coming over from AnC, Chief Stalker gathered a 2 - 1 record in the org before it's demise and has now arrived in Sydney. He'll look to bounce back from a decision loss for a fresh start. Likewise is Sammmy Kilbach, who was on the wrong end of a decision in his fight with Ciro Di Marzio. Kilbach will need to use his wrestling ability to get a hold of Stalker, keep him in tight and unload on the strikes. If this is going to turn into a kickboxing bout, Stalker's going to have an advantage, especially due to his heavy hands that can quickly fold people over like a lawn chair. He has shown to be the lesser fighter whenever his fights have moved onto a clinching position however, so this'll be a case of getting close vs. staying on the open. Kilbach is coming in as a slight favorite to what should be a solid stand up exhibit.
PICK: Sammy Kilbach by decision

Light Heavyweight Division - Dai Zexi [4 - 1] vs. Joshua 'The Sauce' Syracuse [3 - 1]
Dai Zexi has had somewhat of an interesting MMA career so far: he did one scrap in the local circuit and then took part in the second IFC New Blood tournament, where he made it all the way up to the finals before being TKO'ed. Of course his adversary Joshua Syracuse looks to squash his momentum right on it's tracks! Fresh off an impressive ground and pound victory over John Tucker, Syracuse might be a little too much the jack-of-all-trades type to match the specific submission skillset of his opponent. This likely won't take long to turn into a grappling exchange and there Dai Zexi is the more dangerous fighter.
PICK: Dai Zexi by submission

Super Heavyweight Division - Adam 'Monster' Hardy [3 - 2] vs. (#3) 'The Russian Bear' Wladimir Yaroslev [3 - 0]
Wladimir Yaroslev is on an impressive three fight winning streak inside the SyFi cage, with two TKOs and one submission in his record, all in the very first round. Adam Hardy however had lost twice in a row before his 30 - 27 decision win over Bogdan Uzun. Now coming into this fight as a huge underdog, he's going to play right into Yaroslev's wheelhouse if he chooses to employ his usual grappling heavy tactic. Wladimir Yaroslev will be more than happy to give up a takedown simply to get the fight to the ground, where his superior skill will prove too difficult for Adam Hardy to handle.
PICK: Wladimir Yaroslev by TKO (ground and pound)

Middleweight Division - Mickey Diaz [3 - 1] vs. Niko Puhkuri [1 - 1]
If there's ever been a dictionary definition of a one-trick pony, that's Mickey Diaz. Pull guard and work submissions, not only every time, but every round, all the time. He has yet to showcase any takedown ability whatsoever, so if Niko Puhkuri can avoid being pulled to guard, he'll be okay. Whether or not he'll manage that is another question. Puhkuri wants to turn this into a striking clinic and with his well rounded hybrid style, could be a tough match up for Diaz.
PICK: Niko Puhkuri by TKO

Light Heavyweight Division - Evan Dryll [2 - 1] vs. Krit Leekpai [2 - 0]
In his short time spent in the MMA world, Krit Leekpai has achieved a reputation of a promising rookie. His hype train hasn't been quite as big or fast as some industry insiders expected, but Leekpai will get a crack of proving his might against Evan Dryll. The American has went 2 - 1 in SyFi so far and has a chance to really make a name of himself by defeating a touted prospect. A striker, Dryll is a well rounded fighter like his Thai counterpart and they both enjoy throwing shots. They must be walking inside the cage thinking 'This'll end in a knockout', but who can load up the bigger bomb is anyone's question. Krit Leekpai is going in as the slight favorite due to his marginally better stand up skill, but also because should there be a need for clinching, he'll likely be able to control the exchanges.
PICK: Krit Leekpai by TKO

Light Heavyweight Division - Jengo 'The Chief' Makumba [3 - 0] vs. Kurt 'Nightcrawler' Wagner [2 - 2]
The Chief has laid out three strikers already in his Sydney Fights career in Kevin Durant, Miguel Fialho and Emil Derrick, but now he must try to do the same to a BJJ player. Kurt Wagner will certainly wish all good things come to an end, even for Makumba, with Wagner having been outclassed in his SyFi 31 debut by Mauro Carnera. This fight is a different bag though, Wagner simply looks far too good for Makumba. The Chief needs to drop Wagner within the first couple of minutes or he'll be in a world of hurt once the fight hits the mat.
PICK: Kurt Wagner by submission

Light Heavyweight Division - Boogie Rollins [1 - 0] vs. Mike Mikson [3 - 1]
Mike Mikson and Boogie Rollins are making their way to the SyFi cage for the first time here tonight to take on each other. Mikson went 2 - 1 in the ill-fated WCI organization, while Rollins has only one pro fight in the local circuit, an arm bar win in the first round. Of course Mikson is a grappler himself, though more of a jiu jitsu specialist to that of Rollins' wrestling talent. Boogie needs to use that to create smothering pressure, but I doubt if Mikson's going to let this fight turn into a catch-as-catch can showcase. He'll certainly be looking for a lock, if he does get his opponent on his back. The ground game of Mike Mikson should prove to be the deciding factor.
PICK: Mike Mikson by submission

Super Heavyweight Division - Cat 'Chunky' Fhin [3 - 2] vs. Ted 'The Million Dollar Man' Dibiase [1 - 1]
A very similar stylistic match up as two sprawl and brawlers go head to head, hoping to display their solid boxing base to the Sydney crowd. Cat Fhin is 3 - 1 in SyFi, with his only loss coming by way of submission to the now reigning Super Heavyweight champion. Since then he's racked up two wins in a row, while DiBiase was bested by Matt Wills in his last go around. Fhin and DiBiase seem to prefer standing in the open and letting their hands go, so expect this to be a clean striking battle. Ted DiBiase is renowned for his bad cut immunity, this could be a chance for Cat Fhin to simply outbox and outland his opponent.
PICK: Cat Fhin by decision

SyFi 44
Apr 29/18
Brought to you by Forge Clothing Co.

Main Event of the Evening
(C) Mike Johnson (4-0) vs. #2 Kevin Daughtrey (7-0)

In our main event we have fireworks as number one contender Kevin Daughtrey challenges Mike Johnson for the 170 lb. title. Johnson has been on a tear, three fights in Sydney, all stoppages. His first title defense took less than 2 minutes. Showing he has the power to finish with strikes and the technique to finish by submission, the champ is still young, and very dangerous. He is extremely well rounded, an exceptional wrestler with a purple belt in jiujitsu. He is very powerful and knows how to strike as well. He can approach this fight with a few different strategies, it will be really interesting to see how this one pans out. The challenger, Kevin Daughtrey, has proved he is quite dangerous as well. He has 3 fights in Sydney and combined he still has not fought a full round. His last opponent Akira Harada fell to his fists by way of tko near the second minute mark of the first round. He is a thai fighter with some wrestling skill at his disposal and he is also currently undefeated. Yet still, he will have his hands full in this explosive main event!

#7 Chris Snoky (7-1-1) vs. #8 Gideon Navarro (5-1)

Chris 'Smokey' Snoky has had a very good run through the amateur leagues, and a good show in his debut against Tori Kankunnen. A thai fighter with some wrestling to back it up, he's looking to put another notch on the belt against twenty-year old 'The Unbreakable' Gideon Navarro. Navarro has been quite successul outside of Sydney, and in his debut walked through Jackson Finnegan. He's an exceptional thai fighter with a purple belt in jiujitsu, wherever this fight takes place he will be comfortable. Snoky may seem outgunned but I wouldn't count him out of his fight.

#6 Bruno Javier Jimenez (5-3) vs. #10 Pahani Julmu (3-0)

Bruni Javier 'Bjj' Jimenez is a superb boxer with a purple belt in jiujitsu. He's returning for his sixth fight and looking to pick up his fourth victory in Sydney. Coming off of a first round tko loss to Mike Johnson, he will no doubt be aggressive and bring the fight to undefeated submission fighter Pahani Julmu. Apparently a fan of armbars, he has three first-round victories by armbar outside of Sydney, an early stoppage in his debut would certainly put him on the map in the 170 lb. division.

Putem The Nightmare (1-1) vs. Luke Melendez (2-1)

Twenty-six year old Putem 'Tobed' The Nightmare is a grappler with a brown belt in jiujitsu, he's making his debut here in Sydney. Luke Melendez is welcoming him to the party, all of his three fights taking place with us, and all ending in the first round. He's a highly active striker who sets a fast pace. He's going to have to display some takedown defense in this bout. If The Nightmare cannot bring him to the ground it's going to be an early night for him.

Zedidiah Goldberg (2-0) vs. Russell Westbrook (2-1)

Both of his opponents thus far have suffered knockouts, the recent of the two in only twenty-four seconds. If heavy-handed Zedidiah 'Zed' Goldberg touches you, it hurts. He's wonderful in muay thai, but not many other skills to speak of, there's not much left to the imagination when it comes to his strategy. His opponent, exceptional thai fighter Russell Westbrook, put away Gabriel Melo in the second round by way of tko in his Sydney debut, now he's back for more. The question is, can he take the power of Goldberg?

Jackson Finnegan (2-2) vs. Ulysses Klaw (2-0)

Jackson 'Filet' Finnegan is back in his fourth Sydney appearance. A balanced mixed martial artist, he was put away in the first round of his last bout, clinched up by Gideon Navarro. Will he redeem himself against young upstart Ulysses 'Panther Killer' Klaw? Also with a balanced style, perhaps leaning more towards grappling, Klaw is undefeated thus far in his two Sydney fights, coming off of a decision victory over Johnny Boy Morissey. This is a hard bout to call, I believe just about anything could happen.

Roy Jones Gracie (2-2) vs. Thor Odinson (1-1-1)

It took him only thirty seconds to tko Tulio Souza in his Sydney debut, Roy Jones Gracie has power in his fists and granite in his chin. A remarkable boxer with a purple belt in jiuitsu, he's going to war with Thor 'The Hammer' Odinson. Coming off of a knockout loss to Akira Harada in the second round, this muay thai fighter will look to bounce back with a clever performance. He may need to tie Gracie up early and do some damage to him to slow him down in order to avoid an early stoppage.

Tori Kankunnen (3-3) vs. Ariel At Night (1-1)

Tori 'Ice' Kankunnen is back for his fifth bout in Sydney. He has one win out of them, a decision over Conor Henderson. However with an ochre of success in the amateur leagues, this hopeful wrestler looks to grind out a second win over 'Daytime Bob' Ariel At Night. This young grappler has had two fights in Sydney, winning one of them by way of knocking out Buddy Quincy from half guard with deadly elbows and strikes. Kankunnen may want to keep this fight standing, but even that may be a dangerous endeavor for him.

Hosep Grigorian (2-0) vs. Damian Lillard (1-2)

After dispatching Jack Baker in his Sydney debut, Hosep Grigorian is back to take on his next foe. He's a wonderful boxer, but has the skills to hold his own in a grappling situation. His opponent, making his debut following a rough start in the amateur leagues, Damian Lillard. An exceptional muay thai fighter, Lillard is going to look to keep this fight standing and possibly seek out a clinch, however I think Grigorian would be fine with that.

Brandon Bragg (2-1) vs. Stor Bang

Brandon 'Light Mayo' Bragg is a young wrestler, coming off of the first loss of his three-fight career outside of Sydney. He's here tonight to make his debut against another new fighter, Stor Bang. No tests for this young prospect, he's taking his very first fight here with us. A jiujitsu fighter with respectable wrestling skills, I think we can expect this bout to take place on the ground.
