CHAOS IN BEERLEAGUE: Featherweight Champ Joao “The Boogeyman” Miyao STRIPPED, RELEASED After Office Rumble With President Ramirez By: Chuck Knuckles | Mayhem Weekly In a move that’s both shocking and somehow completely on-brand, Beerleague MMA has stripped and released newly minted 145 lb champion Joao “The Boogeyman” Miyao before he ever defended the belt—following what league officials are calling “a Brazilian jiu-jitsu-related office incident.” League president and lifelong black belt Jeffrey Ramirez broke the news at a hastily organized press conference, where he fielded questions while applying ice to what he described as “an omoplata-related contusion.” “Yeah, the guy showed up outta nowhere—shirtless, wrapped in a gi belt, sweating like he just power-walked through a sauna,” Ramirez began. “He stormed in here, slapped his contract on my desk, and started yelling about ‘activity clauses’ and ‘spirit of competition’ like he was trying to invoke trial by combat.” Sources inside the Beerleague front office say Miyao had recently gone 1–2 in side ventures on the grappling circuit, where his performances were described as “ambitious but mostly guard-pulling.” Staff also claim Miyao had been spiraling—talking to the coffee machine, attempting to heel hook the HR director, and once setting up mats in the lobby to “do rounds with the vibes.” “We granted him a rare dual-discipline clause,” Ramirez explained, referring to Miyao’s contract. “He said BJJ keeps his soul sharp. We said fine. He said he’d only take fights on ‘Freaky Fridays.’ We said… maybe. But then he started demanding ‘title defenses against inner demons’ and calling our cutman a ‘false prophet.’” The Final Straw? Ramirez says things came to a head on Monday morning when Miyao burst into HQ and demanded a “catchweight grudge match against The Concept of Time.” “I was like, bro… what?” said Ramirez. “Then he pointed at this obscure clause in the contract, screamed ‘I am the storm!’ and tried to berimbolo me across my own conference table.” Ramirez, no stranger to a tussle himself, admits things got physical. “Look, I’m a black belt. I’m not gonna get heel hooked in Dockers. We rolled. It got wild. I think the janitor tried to ref it. At one point, Joao yelled ‘This is for Abu Dhabi 2015!’ and tried to gogoplata the coat rack. It was a mess.” Security footage, allegedly leaked to Mayhem Weekly, shows two men in business attire locked in a frantic half-guard battle while interns throw acai bowls for crowd effect. The Belt Is Vacant… and So Is Miyao’s Locker Following the incident, Beerleague issued a brief statement: “Effective immediately, we are stripping Joao Miyao of the featherweight title and releasing him from all contractual obligations. We wish him peace on his next voyage—hopefully not through our lobby.” When asked whether other promotions should be wary, Ramirez didn’t mince words: “Look, we love talent. But this guy rolled into an exec meeting wearing Vale Tudo shorts and muttering about ‘submission-based enlightenment.’ He’s out of control. Proceed with caution. Or mats.” Miyao has not responded to requests for comment, though his Instagram Stories reportedly included the phrases “still undefeated in cosmic warfare” and “catch me on the astral mats.” Beerleague has already announced a 4-man tournament to crown a new champ, tentatively titled: “Featherweight Fallout: Who Wants It Less?” Stay tuned. @poppa
