  1. BREAKING NEWS: A verbal agreement has been made between SPPS legend Edward “Mr. Pickle” Mills and former WVT champion Adrian “Dill” Picklesbly. The fight is tentatively scheduled for SPPS 269 (haha) in Los Angeles!
  2. SPPS 264 Preview Happy Thursday! Welcome to the first ever SPPS Event Preview of the Rush Grayson era! With the current event schedule, my goal is to have previews for the Friday events up by Thursday and the Sunday events up by Saturday. In these previews I’ll briefly introduce each of the 5 ‘main card’ bouts and give my opinion on what each fighter needs to do to win. #1 Guy River vs. Apophis Kalmisto In this first bout we have two Sucker Punch originals with debuts going back to SPPS 30 and 73, respectively. Over the course of their careers, both men have demonstrated knockout power and a willingness to trade on the feet and it wouldn’t be a surprise if it played out that way. Lately, however, Kalmisto has been showing some chops on the ground and his last 3 wins have come by Submission. This puts River in a ‘pick your poison’ scenario where he’ll have to decide if he wants to risk facing Kalmisto’s potent clinch striking or if he’d rather risk being taken down and possibly strangled. Kalmisto, on the other hand, will have to find an answer for the deadly efficiency of River’s distance striking. No small task when the man posing the question has 15 KO victories to his name. #2 Landon McGuire vs. Jack Spratt This next bout features another SPPS original who also happens to be teammates with the above mentioned Guy River. Landon McGuire debuted all the way back at SPPS 25 and even held the Middleweight championship at one point. He’ll serve as the welcome committee for newcomer Jack Spratt, a grilled veteran of the cage who created the Middleweight division at GAMMA 6 times, ascending to the lofty heights of #3 ranked Middleweight worldwide. Spratt is no stranger to SPPS, as he came over for an away game against our own Tanaka Matsuda who recently held the SPPS Middleweight title. Both men do business in very similar fashion, with Spratt being the more experienced and slightly more polished technician. Look for both of these wily veterans with wily veteran management to look to outwork and outwily the other in what has potential to be a fairly cerebral matchup. #3 Chip Nickel vs. James Yarborough Chip Nickel reminds me of this one documentary I saw where a journalist visits one of Andrew Tate’s events and gets suckered into an unsanctioned MMA fight. In all honesty, that sounds like something that would happen here at Sucker Punch. Thankfully “The Scoop” wound up with a far more illustrious career than that guy. Chip provides the kind of ‘hard-hitting’ journalism that would make Cronkite smile with 17 ‘Of the Night’ awards sitting alongside his Pullitzer Prize. Chip looks to make headlines and make his way back to the front page of the Middleweight division. James Yarborough is surely something out of a horror movie. Hailing from the ‘Game Grid,’ a place that sounds like it could somehow possibly be a more hellish landscape than Cape Canaveral, Florida, Yarborough looks to unleash CGI Carnage on the SPPS Middleweight division and certainly has revenge on his mind when he attempts to play spoiler to Chip Nickel’s title aspirations. Will “T R O N” cause a media blackout? Or will Chip run a magnet over his A.I. adversary? COMAIN Ben Slam vs. Daniel Spong Everybody get up, it’s time to slam now. We got a real jam going on when Ben “Dunkzilla” Slam faces off with Daniel “Demon” Spong in the comain event of the evening. Ben’s had a long career of posterizing his opponents and has enough KO(Punch) victories on his resume to make a certain gourd-adorned fighter sing his praises from the mountain tops. With this kind of kill-or-be-killed career, you already know what Ben’s looking to do when the referee lets these guys go at it. Daniel Spong, on the other hand, brings a lot more variety and versatility to this matchup. With all the pedigree in the world, Spong will certainly look to outsmart and outskill his more specialized opponent if he finds himself unable to match his firepower. It’s Brains vs Brawn in an occupation where head trauma is a qualification! MAIN EVENT: HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE Noah Anderson vs. Charon Lehto In a rematch for the Heavyweight title, two of the baddest big boys in the MMA Tycooniverse are on course to see who can hit each other in the face harder than the other. Both men have been on a rampage with 16 combined KO victories over the past 10 months, so if you expect this one to go 25 minutes then I have a bridge to sell you. At 220 cm Anderson is like if Stretch Armstrong were loaded with steroids instead of cornstarch, and the visual of him landing a Superman Punch to KO his last opponent is probably the closest you can get to a human carpet bombing. It is worth mentioning that Anderson does NOT like being punched in the face, as it’ll muss his $500 haircut and he’ll pass out from pure exasperation. Lehto being a fan of hats means he doesn’t have that problem and will look to capitalize if he can get around the 19 cm height difference.
  3. HEROES of Rio Match Format 145, 170, 205, and 265+: 3x3 fights, 3x5 title fights 155, 185, and 265: 2x3 fights 3x3 title fights The purpose of the format is to promote aggressive fights whether you’re going for the kill or trying to outpoint each other. In the Restricted weight classes, all of the normal risks of fighting with your prospects are mitigated by the matches being 6 minutes max instead of 15 like the standard MMA fight. Lower energy loss and the realistic possibility of a draw will help keep your fighters in the gym and keep the unfortunate L’s from appearing as often to preserve their hype. With the reduced workload, the goal is to have the existing ID class be nearly ready to integrate into the Open ID classes by the time the next ID turn hits. Of course, I will always matchmake using skill levels first and ranking second to keep the fights fair and competitive. Your fighters won’t be fighting out of their depth at any point in there careers at HEROES!
  4. Ladies and Gentlemen, It’s here…. THE MOST COVETED PRIZE IN ALL OF TYCOON KICKBOXING The HEROES of Rio Championship Title! Title bouts will be scheduled as the divisions fill out and become competitive, starting with the 170lb division. Thank you all so much for helping me bring this org to life, and filling our Pantheon of Champions will put us even closer to the ultimate goal of being the Greatest KT org of ALL TIME!
  5. *NOW OPEN!* WHO? Heroes of Rio Kickboxing Federation is open and actively recruiting for weight classes 155-265+, with 135 and 145 possibly opening with enough interest. HEROES will operate on a ‘hybrid’ ID restriction. The 155, 185, and 265 lb weight classes will be Restricted to the 390k ID range while the 170, 205, and 265+ weight classes will be completely Unrestricted. WHAT? To separate ourselves from run of the mill MMA orgs, our match formats will feature fewer and shorter rounds to reduce energy loss, cuts, and injuries with the tradeoff hopefully being more fights and quicker turnaround. Restricted weight classes will fight 2 rounds of 3 minutes as a standard bout, with title fights eventually being 3 rounds of 3 minutes to mitigate draws as much as possible. Unrestricted weights will start at 3 rounds of 3 minutes with title fights being 5 rounds of 3 minutes. All matches will utilize a 10 point must scoring system and will take place in a ring hopefully to limit prolonged clinching, similar to real life. The idea behind all of these decisions is to provide a fast paced, action packed experience! WHEN? Recruiting is open now! We will be actively scouting all of the above stated weight classes to build a robust and active KT roster. If you are interested in being a part of HEROES, send all contract requests to Rush “Flipper” Grayson in game! This thread will serve as our ‘smack talk’ thread. Watch this space for any and all HEROES content!
  6. I agree that maybe not primary scores, but why not just a numerical skill level like what’s already available in tycoon assistant for your personal fighters? I’m just saying of all things, matchmaking in orgs should be as streamlined as possible, especially in Restricted orgs where 2 fighters can have the same star rating, but also have a fairly substantial gap in skills.
  7. Some simple changes I’d like to see on the org owner side: - When sending contract offers, show the ‘Can Cut To’ weight when using the lookup function in addition to the name and walking weight. - Add a button to hide inactive fighters in Fighter List + - Add Grappling as a sorting option on FL+, Kickboxing is on there and there’s currently 3-4x as many grappling orgs as KT. - A slightly deeper but still reasonable change is to make the Fighter List sortable by columns. At the very least sortable by skill level and p4p rank. - Also change the way skill level is presented to org owners. My suggestion would be to swap the star rating system with the numeric values for primaries that you currently get on the Free Agent list. In my opinion the star ratings are a better fit for the free agent page, anyway. Also, BRING BACK THE TICKERS! I found this page by accident http://www.mmatycoon.info/index.php/Skill_maintenance This looks fantastic and I know I would personally use this a ton.
  8. Winter Warfare Round 5 The remaining rounds of the Winter Warfare tournament will be both previewed and reviewed by yours truly, Rush Grayson! I have been granted the special privilege of dissecting the remaining fighters and matchups to really put emphasis on this expansive and prestigious 390k creation tournament! What started as a field of 34 now only contains 12 of the fiercest creations in the entire ID range and possibly out of any currently running creation tournament! Now without further ado, we’ll preview the fights of round 5 of this double elimination tournament. Starting with the Winner’s Bracket! Winner’s Semifinals Randy No Neck vs. Caius Marius Winter Warfare Lineal Championship While not the first match on the card this one is one of the most intriguing. Master Tessin, piloting the latest in his army of Randy themed creations, has put on an impressive showing in tournament play as of late. Having overtaken one half of the Billy-Waddy Stepdad Connection already, and having multiple paths to victory, it wouldn’t be unrealistic if the Tess Express just rolled on through Stepdad Station en route to the next round. The other half of this fight is Caius Marius, a GWad creation of Roman styling. Caius has had some extremely impressive development during this tournament and looks to out-primary the rest of the field by a wide margin. The results speak for themselves and say that Caius is a definite threat to take the whole tournament. Ruslan Beznisko vs. Percival Nerdspoof The 3rd The other Winner’s Bracket fight is between two submission monsters with very little in the way of striking. On paper these two are both very distinguished and evenly matched on the ground, and you could probably bet the house that they get the fight there as quickly as possible. One interesting thing to note is that while both men have shown pedigree in the ground game, Percy Nerdspoof has only faced other grapplers since the word go and not only has he finished them all, he managed in less than 2 rounds. Ruslan will definitely be his toughest test on that front, and is a definite threat to “The Keyboard Warrior” in his mat-based neighborhood. Loser’s Quarterfinals Fun Fact: All but one of the fighters in the lower bracket took their L from one of the 4 remaining fighters in the upper bracket. From here on out there’s high potential for rematches and VENGEANCE. Nagatsuki Hideki vs. Choke Gracie A classic striker vs grappler matchup, this fight is unique in that it features one of the most dangerous entrants in the tournament vs one of the most resilient. Hideki makes no bones about it, he’s here to take your head off as quickly and as violently as possible. Boasting 3 KO victories of his 4 wins, look for Hideki to shove his fist down Gracie’s throat early and often. Gracie, on the other hand, will look to take the best of Hideki and keep on coming while trying to drag him to the mat and drown him in GNP and submission attempts. It’s to be noted that Gracie was not tested prior to this tournament and boasts the legendary “Good in Bed” TotT. Be ready for absolutely anything in this fight because there’s no telling what could happen! Keith Chegwin vs. Rashaun Kinkead Another dangerous striker vs another submission specialist. You would think the organizer of the tournament was doing this on purpose! Monkey, the Winter Warlord himself, is featured in this next match with dangerous striker Keith Chegwin facing off against Rashaun Kinkead with Squirrely “I only fight my alliance mates” Dan at the helm. Much like the previously mentioned matchup, look for flying fists and someone to go skittering across the mat either from a hellacious blow to the head or slick and slippery grappling. Also like the previous matchup, this one is wide open and absolutely anything can happen. You don’t get this far in a big tournament by being a bum. Azad Bekzod vs. Leonard Foster Certainly my pick for the best nickname of the tournament, Azad “Uzbek Gut Check” Bekzod squares off with Leonard Foster in yet another freaking striker-grappler matchup. This one is at least different in that Azad operates mainly out of the clinch. Bekzod seems to have found a home on the famine side of the board as opposed to the feast side, notching a pair of TKO victories since meeting Randy No Neck in the first round. No doubt he’s seeing red at the idea of possibly getting grappled to death again and this matchup is going to be key to his future success with the vast majority of remaining entrants having some kind of grappling chops. While being a grappler comes with a certain stigma, Leonard Foster prefers to beat his victims to a pulp rather than choke them out and that might be what separates him from the rest of the field. Having unfortunately been on the receiving end of a Ruslan Beznisko armbar, Foster looks to return to his winning ways and beat Bekzod unconscious. Domino Hurley vs. Jalo Ilmarinen I’m running out of ways to describe this particular kind of matchup so I’m not even going to bother. Instead, I will focus on what is different and exciting because there’s nothing worse than saying and reading the same thing over and over again. Both of these fighters are well rounded, but in different ways and have excelled against different types of opponents. Domino Hurley has faced a pure grappler, a pure kicker who didn’t throw a single punch, and a pure boxer, and was successful in 2 out of 3 matchups. Domino uses a combination of clinch dominance and volume striking, either looking to keep his opponent underwater or challenging them to a firefight. The only time his “punches in bunches” strategy didn’t work was against an actual boxer. Unfortunately for him, Jalo Ilmarinen boasts some pretty decent boxing of his own, having scored KO’s both on the ground and on the feet. So far Domino has gotten by bringing the heat, but for his sake let’s hope Jalo isn’t too hot to handle. The winners of the first two matches I listed will go on to compete in the Winner’s Final, for the coveted chance to compete in the grand final against whomever should claw their way out of the deep end in the Loser’s Final. The winners of all the Loser’s Bracket fights will fight directly after this round, with the losers from the Winner’s Semifinals meeting them to see who will compete in the Loser’s Final. Eventually, the winners of both brackets will meet in the Grand Final for the crown of Winter Warfare Champion. If all of that sounds confusing, blame Monkey. Just kidding, if it’s hard to follow be sure to catch all the remaining previews and reviews that will be written by yours truly!
  9. Not having Bangkok as a city in a game where Muay Thai is a major primary attribute and the game has its own kickboxing ruleset that follows MT rules (elbows and clinch allowed, etc.) is absolutely tragic.
  10. If that last spot is available I want in. Let’s go. I’ll also pledge another 500k to the pot.
  11. I don’t have any current ones but within the last 2 years I’ve had 4 that had at least a short stint in KT at some point. I’m not sure what my current investment in KT has to do with wanting to change it for the better, though. For perspective, I became interested in starting a KT org when I first started playing the game, but along the course of learning how the actual game worked I discovered that hardly anyone participated for various reasons and after a while I gave up on trying to do that and took over an MMA org instead. Still want that KT org, but I want it to be as fun and successful as my previous MMA org and I want there to either be enough participation to utilize the ideas I have or for KT to be changed to where I could get by with a smaller roster of dedicated KT guys.
  12. The reason for the discussion on this particular topic is simply because I wanted it to change and instead of doing what everyone else does and just bitch about it, I took it to the man himself and got a response and now I’m following up on that response. I want KT to matter simply because I want it to. Talking about other changes that need to be made are discussions for elsewhere. I know I’m not going to magically fix the entire game by getting KT fixed, but it will make KT more enjoyable. This isn’t about instant gratification, it’s about gratification period.
  13. Then maybe someone should make a thread and a poll dedicated to that, but responding to a question about changing one part of the game by suggesting changes to a different, completely unrelated part doesn’t add much to the discussion here.
  14. I don’t see how training fighters until they hit the skill cap is an exploit. Popularity doesn’t help anyone but org owners and isn’t even a tracked metric for fighters like Hype is. Nearly every half decent fighter hits their skill cap eventually if they don’t get sacked and retired first. I fail to see how more fighters fighting is a bad thing.
  15. Veteran managers are already maxing skills with no damage when they cook projects for up to a year. Changing KT allows people who want to fight to do the same and thus levels the playing field in that regard. Also it’s an easier sell to a brand new player to have their guy grapple or kickbox for 6 months than to have him sit in a gym and do nothing if they want to be competitive at the top of the game. Edit: Plus having them start in a single discipline and transfer them to MMA actually allows the martial arts to *mix*
  16. In Thailand, MT kickboxers fight almost every week depending on injury. Outside of that you still see them fight once every 2-3 weeks and that’s in real life. Here we‘re playing a game where 3 months = 1 year. 1 real life week = 1 game month. More than enough time if given the real life example.
  17. Players, Managers, Tycoonians, lend me your ears. The hour is nigh and I am in need of your assistance in a matter of personal importance that I believe will benefit us all. Recently, I contacted our dear Mike about possibly removing KT energy, injuries, and cuts, essentially making it the same as grappling currently, but with striking skills instead of struggle cuddles. I thoroughly believe that simply changing this will add new layers of utility in the KT scene for both new players and old. His response was….lukewarm. While the response itself was less than ideal, I see the opportunity in our ability to cause change if we were to band together and show the man that we want new/improved things in our game. Even if you don’t have absolutely any care for KT or you don’t even know what it is, surely the idea that we can influence the game in small ways for the better is appealing to you. If you still aren’t convinced, I’ve prepared a list of benefits to this for new and veteran players: NEW PLAYERS A way to get started with the striking part of the game (the fun part, let’s be real) in user run orgs at absolutely 0 risk to your fledgling MMA record or manager rank. A 25 year old KT-minded creation is 10x more likely to be competitive from the jump than a 25 year old trying to be decent in MMA. A way to build your fighter’s background and popularity before diving into the main game (MMA). A risk free way to experiment with sliders, find out what does and doesn’t work and what tactics you prefer to use when you play. A BETTER way to finance your fighters’ clothing, gym and supplement needs without having to spam QFCs (which aren’t worth the risk at level 2, anyway.) VETERAN PLAYERS The best possible hiddens testing. I really shouldn’t have to say more (but I will anyway). Sparbot utility. Keep father time at bay longer while possibly being competitive still. You can fight your creations without losing training sessions (multiple test fights, intermediate testing for LHK, popularity building, and more!) More org running opportunities and variety (if we get the hype fixed, too. Mike) A spot for your slow learners and dumb dumbs to go to still have careers after all the hard work you put into them. A secondary outlet for your veteran fighters once skill decline (or a lower skill cap) sets in since they don’t need as many points to be competitive. With the success of CWC and Stepping Stone Grappling, there’s no reason that KT shouldn’t be on an even field with Grappling and be exactly the same in regards to energy, injury, and hype. If you really want KT to exist, make it the twin sister of Grappling. I thoroughly believe a relatively simple sounding change like that could go a long way to improving the game as a whole. I leave it to you all to vote on this, deliberate in the replies, show your support/dissent and why. The worst possible outcome would be that the idea of having a say in improving or influencing the game one way or another falls on apathy and deaf ears and this post generates no or very little response. I would be satisfied just to have the discussion with you all, even if it’s to tell me that I’m wrong.
  18. Liberty Dome Parking Garage Level B4 02.25.2023 11:00 EDT “Hello fight fans! It’s me Gary Juwani with the Martial Arts Minute! I’m not in my usual studio set at the moment because I’m camped out in my panel van at the arena to save a couple bucks. I do happen to have a special guest with me though! Bellicose Middleweight, Alexander Korolev!” The camera zooms out from Gary’s face to show “The Axe Murderer” standing over a makeshift campfire inside a metal trash can. He appears to be cooking…something. He doesn’t respond to Gary, but he leers at him at the mention of his name. ”Right…..so Alex, can I call you Alex? Anyway, I know you’re here originally because of your main card bout with Oke Swahn tomorrow night. Can you tell us about that?” “Swahn seeks bloodshed, I’m happy to oblige.” “He’s made a career of being a KO artist of sorts, you’ve been a bit of a killer yourself over the past 6 months. Any chance we see something different from you tomorrow night?” “No” “Tim Horton claims that you pressed Assault and Battery charges on him after your fight because he ‘hit’ you over 200 times. Can you give the people your side of the story?” “False. I don’t consort with authorities in any country, and battery charges can only be pressed when there’s visible marks made on the victim. Timmy did not. The only police officers I saw approach Timmy were the male escorts he hired that night to dress that way and come to his hotel room. I believe his claims of bailing out were when he paid them for services rendered.” “Shocking, but not surprising. Do you think Horton successfully defends his title against Willie Diggs tonight?” “William seeks bloodshed, Timmy does not. He will not survive.” “Is he someone you’d be interested in facing in the future should you get by Swahn tomorrow?” “I would be happy to oblige.” “Great to hear, Alex. Thank you for coming out and speaking to us today. Good luck in your fight tomorrow!” “You begged me to stay before the camera started recording.” “Wow he IS a character isn’t he? This has been Gary Juwani from the Martial Arts Minute! Goodnight everyone!”
  19. Congrats to my fellow Winners still sitting at the table. We shall dine upon the feast that is our glorious victory! 🍷 To those still clawing for the scraps on the floor below; enjoy the next course of leftovers. I pray you eat them before they wind up eating you!
