  1. To develop a fighter while getting them some experience? I find properly developing fighters to be a very boring prospect, so I like that I can do both on The Island.
  2. That's what I love about The Island; you can cut bait without wait if you got a shitty roll for hiddens. (c:
  3. Don't bother with selling the gym. It's incredibly unlikely it'll even get a bid; I'd guess 95% of gyms don't get bid on when they go up. Closing it next Thursday is better than waiting until then to be told there were no bids and it will close the following Thursday. If you want to run a gym that can turn a profit, there's still need on The Island for gyms, and I'd be happy to help. (c:
  4. Might as well; it's been a month, so anyone who is/was interested and could do so has probably already signed up. Let's get this show on the road! (c:

    Change Sydney

Right now, the only reason people book in different cities is the dearth of high capacity arenas. The competition between maybe half a dozen orgs for Wombley and LA seems to still have room to grow. If you wanna spread it around a lot more easily, just add something like Homebush Stadium with a 72,393 capacity and watch orgs start to notice Sydney again. Well, maybe. There isn't any demand for the 42k seater in Tokyo, so maybe a new stadium wouldn't matter.
  6. I worked in a national call center for Pizza Hut when Quikorder was first being rolled out. We hired everyone: non-violent felons, 16-year-old dropouts, people who couldn't even spell Pizza Hut correctly on the application; everyone. We used a unix-based mouse-less ordering system and the CSRs placing people's orders had to type in the toppings by code. I did that part-time for almost 10 years and never encountered anything as stupid as a Left Beef pizza. Ever. Stores have called me to verify no sauce on pizzas before, and I would think verifying a Just-Bread-half of a pizza is just common sense. Left Beef is just so stupid that I'm amazed someone made it without questioning it. The guy in the OP is my hero. The world needs more people like Jesse. That guy could easily have bitched until he got free stuff, but he owned it.

    Change Sydney

Isn't that what Amsterdam represents, Dutch Kickboxing? Do we think the game would support two KT-themed cities when it hasn't even been supporting two long-term KT orgs? Kinda just playing devil's advocate. I like the idea of contracting, not so much just change where the cid is. Successfully relocating presupposes that the reason nobody goes to Sydney is because it's too far from the rest of the game; in no particular order, Tokyo, Hilo, Rio and Helsinki are all about as equipped and populated as Sydney in every way except orgs. You don't have to have an org in Sydney to sign fighters in Sydney and put on an event in Sydney. It looks like the only problem with Sydney (and Rio, let's be honest) is that none of the power users are using it. Basically, what Ryan said, but it really doesn't stop at Sydney. Sydney is the worst ghost town, but Hilo, Rio and Helsinki aren't very far behind.
  8. I've had my hand in running three orgs, and all three times I encountered all of the things you're bringing up. It's important for me to remember that this is a game and we're all just trying to have fun. For some, that's always winning, even against scrubs. For some, it's competition. For others, it's the interaction with others. If someone isn't having fun and wishes to seek it elsewhere, I've always agreed that they should. I won't give them what they want in my org, but I generally try to make it possible to achieve. If a guy wants to fight scrubs until he's "earned" a title shot, it's possible, but it'll take a hell of a long time and one scrub can screw it all up. There are always options. (c: Technically, since you could make enough money running the org to buy VIP with Tycoon Cash, they are doing you a favor; you need them more than they need you, right up until you're the only org left. Since that ain't happening, they will always be doing you a favor unless you are massively overpaying because you DGAF about the money (kinda like Callum always did at Highland) so much as just having fun. You don't know why they declined; it could be personal, game or real life personal, or maybe they know something about their fighter you don't that makes a seemingly fair fight not so fair. End of the day, it's best for you to just move on after a decline and pretend it didn't happen. If you get a guy who declines too many fights, communicate with them or drop 'em. Some guys don't think declining a fight is a big deal; others, like me, virtually never decline fights. Different strokes, different folks.
  9. Don't forget to call out Winston Marrs, who's also a 265+ with hype. If any of my highly-hyped guys lose, their opponents will also jump up from (most of you/us) 0 to 40ish Kickboxing Hype. There should be a few people at the top of the divisions to start calling out. (c:
  10. KT Kids will be hosting the first event this season at the dusty ol' Hard Knocks arena on The Island this Friday, 30 September, 2016. The main card will feature a suite of highly-hyped regional high school kickboxing champions. The undercard, still in the works, will likely feature some talented up-and-comers familiar to KT Kids fans: Ward Henry, Krzysztof "Destroy" Szczepaniakiwicz, Harry Gardiner, and Kai Tee are all rumored to be fighting that night. For now, let's have a look at the locked-in-stone main card. Opening up the main card we have Chong Starbowski vs. Abed Barnes. Starbowski is coming off a brutal loss to K.S. Destroy in his last fight, barely surviving the first round on shaky legs, only to be dropped on the first punch in the second. Starbowski hopes to derail the hype train of Abed "Kick Puncher" Barnes. Barnes is making his professional debut, but carries a lot of hype after winning a Colorado state championship in the IKF 170-pound division. This one promises to be an exciting fight, as Starbowski will get an opportunity to show what he can do when he's not being destroyed in the clinch. Prediction: Barnes by decision. Second on the main card is Dietrich Von Bern vs. Don Glover. Both fighters are making their professional debut at KTK 4. Von Bern is managed by the esteemed Mad Bob Vendarra; Don Glover is managed by Reggie Thistleton. Glover made a deep run in the Junior Golden Gloves championship last year. Von Bern has a background in wrestling, but don't let that fool you: kickboxing embraces the clinch. This fight could easily end in a clinch devastation. Prediction: Von Bern by decision. The middle fight on the main card will feature the debuts of Brian "Bazooka" Fipps and "Troll Samurai" Winston Marrs in what appears to be a matchup between kickboxing and muay thai fighters. Ken Womack manages Bazooka, and Reggie is the manager for Marrs. Prediction: Fipps by decision. IKF West Regional Light Heavyweight champion Troy "Kick Puncher" Nadir and Frank Burns will be making their professional debuts in the co-main event. Nadir carries a huge hype train with him, and Burns will no doubt be looking to end that discussion. Burns and Nadir appear to be evenly matched with very similar profiles. This should be quite a lead-in fight for the main event. Prediction: Nadir by decision. The main event will feature tiny powder keg Petr "Dwarf Decker" Uvehr popping his professional cherry against 2-0 Katman Belle. Belle has made quick work of his last two opponents, winning KO of the night both times. He's spent a total of 2:41 in the cage in those two wins. He'll be trying to continue that success against the highly-touted Uvehr. Petr has a muay thai background and will hope to survive the boxing onslaught of Katman. Will he be able to? Prediction: Probably not. Belle by 2nd-round (T)KO. This has been Reggie with what will hopefully not be the last of these, but... uni starts Monday. (c:
  11. I looked at my fantasy team this morning before the news. I was outraged that Miami actually shut Jose down for the season after the Atlanta start. Now I'm sad. For the obvious reason, whenever a seemingly good kid dies at 24 with a pregnant girl left behind, but also because we don't get to see the guy I honestly pegged as the next Pedro do his thing for the next ten years.
  12. No, it's the whole season. I haven't figured out exactly how it works; some times you can release a fighter, some times you have to wait until that fighter is booked for a fight before you can drop them, but you can always drop them early without paying VIP. I've been milling away trying to pop good hiddens while burning one on popular just to jumpstart my org: http://www.mmatycoon.com/mmamanagerevents.php?MgrID=90739 Look at all those same-day releases. I'm waaaaaay too cheap to pay 15 VIP days for each of those.
  13. No luck needed at all, just good fighters, managers, and promoters. I can't run the best org without the best players pumping out the best fighters. (c:
  14. Picking on the newbie, eh? (c: He'll probably drop a loss on the 30th to find his hiddens, but he and all the other fresh fish were added to be fed to the divisions. By the time we move to two events a week in October, they should be ready.
  15. You currently have 10 MMA Hype and 20 Kickboxing Hype. One event should fix that. Unless you let the nihilists run it. (c:
  16. From what I remember, it's something like 80/20 BJJ/Wrestling.
  17. Oblivion Inc. Cardio 145q is now in stock! Video proof of quality available here, photo proof here. First ten units purchased by me, because I sure as shit didn't put anything in to Conditioning at creation for any of my 9 Island fighters. (c:
  18. Necro answer! Kinda. http://www.mmatycoon.info/index.php?title=Vending_Machines#For_Nutrition_Companies http://www.mmatycoon.info/index.php?title=Vending_Machines#Finances (the last section) It all depends on how/if they use your stuff, and the fighters do, too.
  19. Getting cardio and strength up to at least proficient, each. If you throw kicks or use subs, do the same for flexibility. You can stay at Cozad for $50 a week and just train. By the time orgs can afford to pay worth a damn, your fighter is fully trained and ready to go. If you use Bulk and Stamina supps, you can usually pop str/con every other day; it doesn't take long to go from 1-1-1/flex-str-cardio to 4-8-8 doing this. If you built your fighter with lots of agility, balance, and speed, they should be more athletic than most other Island fighters, and shouldn't be too far behind in skills, either. If you got a guy with KO power, you can ride him until it's obvious he doesn't have any chin left. (c:
  20. Approx. 3x faster. It's perhaps less important to have stamina on The Island, but it can also be a very easy way to build your fighter--don't bother with Flex (Yoga), Strength (Weights), or Conditioning (Cardio), and spend a week or two just training those at Cozad or one of the better gyms. Nope! I've been tooting Wolf's horn for months because he created the guy who went 16-0 and won the HW tourney last season, and he made that guy mid-season. Or, at least, not at the start. I made a deep run with a 16yo creation (against 25yos) who didn't fight at all for an in-game year. It's not hard to get lucky and land a great fighter. What's hard is getting that fighter to compete once he's off The Island. You should/could have a blast until then. (c:
  21. Literally no one will buy your company. It's 30k in debt and has no hype.
  22. Reggie here on behalf of Oblivion Inc. I've just finished submitting our order for a 145q Cardio product, which should be in stock by Thursday at the latest. Video proof of quality available here, photo proof here. It's my hope that we'll have a 155q recovery out by Halloween.
  23. Heh, looks like we'll have to reconsider doing 135 anymore, with the 135ers able to partake in a 145 tourney.
  24. I peaked at 51 in 2014, fell down to the 300s at one point, rose back up to 48, and have been floating around 100-200 for a while--declining a grand total of one fight. They're all bad days when you're working your way back to where you want to be.
  25. I also approve of this idea. +1 However, in the interim... You can ask each manager to provide you with some of this information in a semi-permanent fashion. The Need Fight/Resting checkbox is one way for semi-static communication, as is the desired inactivity on the contracts page. I don't think anyone would use these values if I didn't ask them to. It makes things a lot easier for me being able to (generally) book everyone looking for a fight first, before sending out more-than-likely declines. It's also pretty easy to figure out when guys will want their next fight based on desired inactivity. Honestly, the biggest change to the Fighter+ page I'd wanna see is adding a column for Manager (ID), rather than just the icon that's only useful after you've sent a fight offer. I make that mistake about once every other month, but I also constantly accept multiple fighters from managers.
