Richie Ciapelli here from MMA USofA and Im looking for some feedback on this Hendayko Brute fight. Hendayko looked like he had been chewed on by Hannibal the Cannibal such was the brutal beating in his last fight in Finland. He opened up real easy, what makes you think the VFC aint gonna need a mop and bucket this time?

Ladies and Gents please remember we have bookies for our VFC fights. Also on a side note Don King Jr. world class manager, just had another win in his camp, and is just counting down the hours until he can get two more wins in his camp.

Archie arrives outside the restaurant where Yuri suggested they meet for lunch, the Organic Grill on First Street. Pondering the menu for a minute, surprise showing on his face, he enters to see Yuri sitting alone at a table near the back...

Yuri: "Little Archie! Over here my friend! Come eat HEALTHY with Yuri!"

Archie: Unable to keep a grin off his face, he approaches and sits down opposite the big man... "Good to see you mate! How'd ya here about this place, it looks great."

Yuri: beaming... "Friend Kenrick said good food here..." he digs into a pocket and pulls out a slightly grubby piece of paper... "Yuri get good food here! Lose weight!"

Archie: "Say, is that the list Kenrick gave you...the weight loss program he put together for you?"

Yuri: Nods happily, unfolding the paper and looking at it with concentration...

Archie: "How did your training session go with him mate? I left for the event before you'd started...you two were going to do some wrestling sparring weren't you?"

Yuri: looking up from the paper. "Yes! Good fight! Kenrick strong...he throw Yuri lots!" pauses to rub his shoulder... "Kenrick good man...Help Yuri! We fight again two days!"

Archie: "That's really good bud, great to hear you are getting on. You'll be down to weight in no time! Hey, talking of fighting I see you have signed for a fight in month...who is it with again?"

Yuri: "Yes! Yuri happy! Mr Macwiddle say have fight give Yuri good target. Must lose weight by one month time! Yuri fight John Jackson, he new guy!"

Archie: "Jackson eh? I'll check up on him if you like. That's ten days or so after my debut fight with my mate Hellman. You'll rock big man!" grabbing a menu from the centre of the table... "Now...lets order, I'm starving!"

"The Russian Bear" Aleksander Yaroslev

(VFC 8 - Cemetary Gates prefight weigh-ins and press conference)

Announcer: Aleksander Yaroslev - 263 1/2 pounds.

(Yaroslev flexes his muscles and steps off the scales. He and Mauri Koponen pose for the publicity shot. Shake hands and return to the tables.

(20 minutes later. The press conference is well underway.)

MMA Addict reporter - Ricardo Simpson: You are coming off of a disappointing loss to a Muay Tai speciallist in your last outing for the VFC. Now you are matched up against a fighter in the form of the Finnish Fighter, Mauri Koponen. On paper it looks like a pretty hopeless match-up for you. What do you make of your odds against this opponent?

"The Russian Bear" Aleksander Yaroslev: Vell, Koponen is big man and very strong, and he is very strong in many uh.. how you say? Aspects of MMA. He vill definitely be tremendous challenge, for me. But I have been training very hard for zis fight for long time. As soon as I recovered from last fight I vent back to training. Even before I knew who I vould be fighting. Ve haf watched many hours of wideo and I verked vis some very good training partners and coaches to improve my ground game and my stand-up. I vill do vell I sink. It vill be challenge, but I am sinking dat I am ready for dis and I vill be able to do vat needs to be done to defeat zis opponent. If nosink else ve will put on great show and fight will be good. My cardio is not problem dis time like in last fight. I vill be much more better zen last time. You vill see.

(The reporters look to Mauri Koponen for a response to Yaroslez's statements...)

Don King Jr. here, celebrating in the Press box as my fighters have once again proved all else wrong, as they have got another two wins and no losses. Hey Vinny Vincent, Ron Sparks out of shape??? His takedowns looked awful good for someone who is out of shape werent they. They ought to know not to talk smalk before they fight, or they end up losing like Vinny and Hurl.

"The Russian Bear" Aleksander Yaroslev

(Post Fight Interviews)

Aleksander Yaroslev: Vas good fight. I vas outclassed in every vay in zis fight. I vas thinking zat I vould be able to vin zis fight if I could get takedown and score wis ze ground and pound. I was not able to do zis. He vas too strong. He vas able to stuff ze takedowns and even vhen I got him on his back he vas able to awoid ze ground and pound. I must say only zat he vas better fighter zis time. I am having much respect for zis man. Congratulations, Mauri. Now on a good note... I vas able to make good vis ze promise to make fight a very good one and ve ver rated 100% for zis fight. And my cardio vas never a problem as promised. Next fight vill be better yet... it has to be or I vill be getting fired.

Jimmy Young

Dustin Oliveira

Anthony Tinsdell

Ronald Chinner

Shane Wellman Junior

Vladimir Dracula

Gray Maynard

Marco Reyes

Mike Thomas

Fukushima Akira

The above, are almost certainty's for the tournament. I've left out one of Bitonti's fighters, as i'm not happy with the idea of them fighting each other for the belt (and i'm sure he wouldn't want a guaranteed loss, too). Anybody currently inactive is also excluded, i'm not happy about the potential for an inactive champion, so activity is a must.

The rest of the spots are up for grabs, and this list can, and will likely change, before the 2nd, i'm just giving a prior heads up, this is how it currently stands.

Don King Jr here. I am here on the behalf of two of my fighters. Cung Le and Ken Dinero need fights. I would like Ken in the heavyweight tourney, and he needs a big win to do this. That is why we are calling out CJ Miller, Ken vs CJ, make it happen Kimmy. Cung on the card would also be quite useful.

VFC Rookie Rage I

‘Im Dan Cohen and this is channel 6 sports news, and tonight Im with Richie Ciapelli of MMAUSofA who is going to give us the low down on this weekends VFC event. Richie welcome and thanks for joining us, so is this weekends VFC card going to live up to expectations?’

Richie ‘Cheers Dan, yeh once again it looks like Kimmi McRiddle CEO of the VFC has put together a great card with some real monsters on this show, so I’ll cut to the chase and tell you guys how I see it

Stewart vs Isadoroa

Mike Melton managed Stewart a granite chinned wrestler from Oklahoma City made a winning debut to his career at VFC 1 inception and he will be confident of a 2nd win here against newcomer Isadoroa. In fairness to the Brazilian Muay Thai and BJJ fighter should really be fighting at 155 because he is much the smaller man here and could be completely overpowered by Stewart.

Expect Stewart to go for an early take down and utilise his size advantage to pound the young Brazilian to an early death. Isadoroa is an unknown quantity, we are yet to discover if he has the power to keep Stewart off him, and put up a fight.

Stewart will take this to the ground and secure the win, and assuming Isadoroa has a future in the VFC we will expect to see him fighting in the lightweight division in the future.

Bosko Brute vs Hendayko

Tonight is the long awaited VFC debut of the African sensation Hendayko. Much was made of his signing for the VFC after 4 fights in the BHFC in Helsinki. Hendayko went 2-2 in the BHFC demonstrating impressive stand up and some ferocious high kicks. However Hendayko despite his durability is susceptible to cuts and Brute is an exceptional boxer coming off a devastatingly impressive 1st round KO win in the only fight of his career.

Hendayko has to keep this standing, utilise low kicks to keep the big punching Brute at safe distance and look to land one of his decapitating high kicks to end this fight. He has to keep this at distance, Brute is incredibly strong and he will test Hendayko to the full and Hendayko needs this win to justify his managers confidence in his title aspirations.

Having interviewed Omnus IV we know that Bosko whose full name is Briareus trains not only in the gym but uses ancient Greek methods never seen before in MMA. His camp call him ‘the gigantic force of nature’ and his manager says Hendayko will look like he has been hit by a hundred fists at once when this fight finishes! Briareus has fought only once for 1min 12 secs in July and we can only assume he is totally ready for Shane Wellman’s big hope.

This one could go either way, but one thing is sure this will end in a knockout and Kimmi McRiddle could be throwing cash their way.

The Winner: Brute – KO

Davis vs Cerezo

Davis is a Don King Jnr ground specialist and has promised to take Cerezo down and change his facial features for good. Word from Cerezo’s camp is while he is a nice lad, he isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed and has struggled to keep up. Davis will look to get this fight to the ground early thus ending Cerezo’s brief VFC career, and kick start a new one as an organ donor to people who have potential. Cerezo can box to be fair, but no one sees him keeping Davis off him and his camp fear permanent damage to a brain that wasn’t the first off the production line at outset.

The winner: Davis – Ground & Pound

Izold vs Gerarld

This one is at 170 and could take place using K1 rules because neither of these guys will only get dirt on their shorts if they get knocked down because there will not be any ground hugging in this one.

Izold is a huge 170 fighter from Brazil and will use his superb boxing to try and combat the more complete stand up of Gerarld who will have to utilise his Muay Thai skills. The question here is whether a superb boxer can take out a guy with competent boxing and Muay Thai.

The winner: Its a pick em by KO!

Melton Snr Vs Tucker

A classic boxer against ground specialist here at 185lbs with Tucker keen to keep this standing knowing full well that a successful take down by Melton Snr will see an end to this contest.

Both these guys have had excellent training camps in great gyms, but both these guys are untested and this fight will give an insight into whether one of these novices is a future champion.

Massella Vs Van Kirkland

A New York native vs a Russian in this clash between two very big guys who just squeeze under the heavyweight limit. Van Kirkland dominated Yaroslev in his VFC debut and Massella looks a replica of Yaroslev, as he is a ground specialist with strong wrestling and a blue belt in BJJ. The problem for Massella is that Van Kirkland is a wonderful wrestler and already has the experience of beating a similar fighter.

The winner: Van Kirkland by decision – I will have had a couple of Becks by this stage and will probably go for a slash during this one.

Bull Brute vs Russell

Bull also known as Gyges in this gym, is the equally enormous brother of Bosko. The limbs on this dude are huge, and not only that he can really box, he isn’t too shabby on the ground also. And, its Bull’s ground game that might be crucial against Russell who is one of the most talented boxers in MMA. Bull has trained hard for this fight and like his brother it is a long awaited debut, but this is a fight where he may have to forfeit his natural strengths to get the victory he has waited so long for. As for Russell he hasn’t trained for this, despite a healthy bank balance so something doesn’t quite add up.

Both these guys are untested in the chin and heart department so it a difficult one to call.

The Winner: Bull Brute – Ground & Pound.

Hoplo Brute vs Jackel

There can’t be many BJJ Black Belts in the VFC but in the Jackel we have one. Jackel is going to need to get this to the ground early or face certain stand up annihilation against the exceptional boxing skills of another Brute brother on this card.

These guys have had contrasting preparations for this fight, Hoplo the ‘striker’ is with the VFC Rookie Academy training daily with other highly motivated fighters, and the Jackel has no gym, no money and a manager who is nearly broke. Maybe the pay for getting his ass knocked out in this fight will pay for a Hot Dog stand on the corner of 37th, either way Hoplo Cottus the striker will end the Jackel. This chump reminds me of Travis Lutter, all the talent but no motivation and fans of the VFC don’t want to see guys fighting who ain’t gonna prepare for their fights, when there are plenty contenders ready to get it on.

The Winner: Hoplo – KO punches!

IV vs Brzenszczykiewicz

Brzens has a record of 8-7 has superb MT and strong wrestling and on this card he fights debutant IV who is an exceptional boxer with decent wrestling. The key here is Brzens chin which has let him down against his fellow strikers with better punch resistance and this fight will depend on whether IV can bang with any authority. If IV can punch and take a decent shot himself I believe he can stop Brzens inside 2 rounds.

The Winner: IV – stoppage punches.

Jones vs Kopera

Two really huge guys at heavyweight here hoping to forget debut losses and earn some respect in a stacked heavyweight division. Kopera is coming off a humiliating loss after he made a lot of noise about being the big bad wolf of the division and then fought like a kitten when the time came. He can box and he is a decent wrestler, and it is in his wrestling that he can win this fight because Jones is a specialist MT practitioner. Jones went the distance in his debut with big Ron Sparks who beat Vincent last weekend, so Jones is tough enough to stand and trade with Kopera. If Jones can avoid the take down he wins this by decision, so Kopera has to take this to the ground to break his duck.

The Winner: Jones – decision.’

Dan: ‘Thanks Richie, I hear the after parties are cool too.’

Richie: ‘Not bad Dan, not bad at all.’

((Hi Guys! Sorry haven’t posted much lately…life been a bit hectic…back on course now hopefully!))

Yuri charges through the VFC Gym front door and almost runs up to the desk. The guy behind looks a bit panicky…

Guy behind desk: “Ah…Mr Lebedev…Wha…”

Yuri: cutting in excitedly… “Little Archie! He here? Quick!”

Guy behind desk: “Uh…Yeah…he’s in th…”

Yuri: “Thank you!” charges in to the Cardio room…

Guy behind desk: “e Weights room…”

Yuri: reappearing in reception from the Cardio room with a confused look on his face… “Where Archie? You say he here!”

Guy behind desk: “I was trying to say sir, he’s in the Weights r…”

Yuri charges off through more doors towards the Weights room, calling for Archie…

Guy behind desk: “oom. Oh, sod it!”

Archie, working hard with a set of dumb bells doing some curls in front or a large mirror, is vaguely aware of a commotion coming from the corridor outside…before Yuri bursts through the door, almost making him drop the weights…

Yuri: breathing heavily… “Friend Archie! Yuri find you! Come quick!…” making a grab for Archie’s arm…

Archie: “Wha? Mate! Let me put these weights down first for gods sake!” putting the weights on a nearby rack… “Now, what the hell is the matter?”

Yuri: looking pleadingly at Archie… “Archie come, look! Please!” taking Archie’s arm and practically carrying him out of the room…

Archie: sternly… “Let go of me you overgrown clown!”

Yuri: letting go of Archie, and hanging his head a little… “Sorry, friend Archie. Yuri SOOO happy! Please come see!”

Archie: sighing…. “Ok, you win mate…lead on, but where we going?”

Yuri: leading the way through to the currently empty room used for official weigh-ins… “Look Archie!” steps on to the scales…

Archie: understanding finally showing on his face, approaches to look at the digital read-out… “Two hundred and eighty five pounds…Two Eighty Five Yuri! You’ve done it mate, well done! I knew you could…I’m proud of y…ugn!”

Yuri: leaping off the scales with a whoop, and lifting Archie into a bear hug… “Yuri know! Thank you Archie! Archie and friend Kenrick help Yuri! Yuri never forget!” stops suddenly, concern on his face… “Yuri need thank Kenrick! Mr Bogey too! And Mr MacWiddle!”

Archie: “Gnnh…Mate…Could ya put me down….please?”

Yuri: putting Archie down… “Oh! Yuri Sorry! Not mean hurt little friend!”

Archie: rubbing his bruised ribs… “Don’t worry yourself man, you are excited is all. Come on, lets grab a coffee and I’ll tell you about something called Twitter…You have a mobile phone don’t you?”

Yuri: walking alongside Archie happily… “Yes, Yuri have phone, look!” pulling an HTC out of his pocket… “Yuri talk Yuri’s Mama with this!” frowns… “What Tweeter?”

Archie: chuckling… “I’ll tell you over a coffee…come on…”

Yuri: “Ok. Then Yuri have Big Mac!”

Archie: “NO…YURI!”
