Renegade
Who's looking for a job? Pay is negotiable, only one event (meaning one poster) per week. Plus I'll let you be creative and design the posters however you want, as long as its good PM me.

I disagree, gimp was a pain in my ass when I gave it a shot. Photoshop for some reason came much more natural for me.
verbalkint
Yeah, i started with GIMP, too... i always thought the options i needed were somewhere lol, but the software dies its best to hide them. Some things just are more complicated then they could be; maybe i was just too lazy, but PS is for sure more intuitive. Been busy lately so those stuff here really could be better, but for quick designs they are ok i guess. Hope i find more time for the next batch of posters to create some killers again lol. http://img804.imageshack.us/img804/4198/dbct27.png http://img715.imageshack.us/img715/4964/asctminus.png http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/1369/ascwm.png http://img826.imageshack.us/img826/2306/ttfc17.png http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/6971/dbc28.png

DaBest
Are there free "Photoshop Programs"? I've tried to use gimp but I just have a hard time. I'll probably have a hard time with anything else as well. Here is my latest work, and it doesn't even come close to being as good as most in here. http://i41.tinypic.com/ubw3n.jpg
verbalkint
Looks unconspicuous lol, but to edit the (50 cent euro, yankees ^^) coin and make it look clean/smooth was quite some work, learned some new tricks, too. http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/1125/imma50.png

If you having problems ... I can't stress enough to search Youtube and Google for tutorials. Even though they won't be doing "posters" per say in their tutorials, you will pick up tricks here and there that will help you, like holding shift down when drawing with the pencil/paint brush tool to get a straight line (photoshop) ... or learning what the different layer fx are and what they do. Also, just sit there and do stupid shit that you never show anybody. You should see some of the things I did 10 years ago when I first started using photoshop. I would fiddle with this and fiddle with that and just come up with something I thought was cool, that to this day I have no idea how to reproduce. I have several things like that which i would love to remake for a larger desktop image now and just can't. For instance... http://www.deviantart.com/download/99918609/Blue_Tron_by_rejectZX3.jpg I know how I did the majority of that image. It was a black screen when I started. Made some difference clouds. Fiddled with some filters. Some more difference clouds. A pattern overlay for the scan lines. But I have been trying for 6 years to recreate it and can not get anything close to it. It's a continual learning process man, just keep plugging away at it.

Robnaldo
What do you guys generally charge for an event poster? I´m keen to start using them for my events. I started out at 3k, moved to 5k and now charge 10k, but I think you can get up to 20k nowadays. I would say between 5-10k per poster is the norm. haystax
Depends ... I was still charging 2k up until a couple months ago when I had to increase price due to workload to 3k. Now people are refusing to pay that and are paying me more. A lot more. I try to dissuade them but they wont listen. Bastards. Speaking of which .... http://img577.imageshack.us/img577/3417/blitzkreigreachsurvival.jpg

jonesmann
hi, I'm new here and I've noticed that you can make some money with posters and logos, so if you are interested in a poster or logo you simply get in touch . Great work guys. I'm at the point where I don't need the money anymore as well, and the incentive to raise my price isn't there like it once was.....so I see where you guys are coming from. But to the guys starting out - make no mistake these guy's work is worth 10k+ and there are lots of people willing to pay it too. They wouldn't be overcharging either so don't feel guilty! There is a ton of money out there, just take a look at the contracts being thrown around these days.
verbalkint
Amen, mate... i got an 8/5,5/5,5 offer for a 1-0-0 guy lately. I wouldn't say no if i start working for a new org on a 10k rate lol, it is more that i work for the same 3 orgs on longer term now, we agreed on 4-5k and i don't want to ask for more there. If i would have financial pressure i definitly would, but without that it still feels like good money for work i like. And i really like the orgs i work for, so that's even better.
