Submission guys don´t do well in this game

In recent game changes:

11th April

- Tweak made to takedowns and submissions so that just having defensive grappling and takedown defense is less effective against higher level grapplers.

what does this mean? if you have takedown your self you will defend takedowns better?

HATE! And I think I just suffered a loss strictly due to this change.

Sheen vs. Il

And my sub guy has done pretty well I think. Guys just need to figure out the ground game better instead of making it easier.

Interested to see how this pans out, not sure if takedowns was an issue still, submission game could probably use the minor boost though.

This is what I heard you just say...

"Fuck me in my mouth, because that would make more sense then what I actually said!"

:P

While it's probably not major I just don't see how making every skill needed leads to anything but making more fighters look the same.

Don't they all look the same now? useless subs and takedown offense...now they'll look the same but with a lil t offense and subs.

Or you can ignore the minor increase in effectiveness subs and takedown offense will have in helping you defend. Some people will round out there ground game, some might not be willing as they won't be able to maintain their standup tickers...so if anything I would think it will create diversity.

Jeez, I knew I should have just done it without posting :|

Dont do that. BankRupt was convienced (when he lost) that you change the fight engine all the time and dont tell anyone.

Naively, I didn't think there would be much complaining about this, given how much complaining there's been from the other side of the coin, about how much harder it is to be a ground guy, how they need all this extra maintenance, how there's no sub guys in the worth a shit, etc etc. I dunno, we'll just see how we get on, as ever.

You have done that already with other stats that's why some people are complaining about weird fight results.

No need to worry Mike. You know how it is. Those benefit like it those who dont complain. Even if what you do is more realistic. Everyone is out for themselves. Just dont let it get to you.

Is that what you should've done? You scandalous British bastard how dare you. You know I've asked you to run any, and all, changes by me prior to making them so I can have a leg up on the other guys around here. You dropped the ball on our relationship this time. Charlie Sheen was last seen heading into a strip club with half a pound of crack, and a Texas Micky of whiskey. I hope you're pleased.

It's a change. So of course we shall complain it's the thing to do. Complaining is the new black, didn't you know?

In my case this will probably benefit me greatly, 4 of my 5 top guys have tds and gnp at at least sensational and 3 of them have subs at that level too, and I still don't think it was a good solution to the ground problem. I don't think having offensive skills work as defense is a good solution from a pure gameplay perspective because I believe it will make for even less varied fighter builds.

We could always see how it pans out first...

I agree with Swansong - i think this could actually lead to a bit more variety in builds..

Because lets face it, the game has revolved around Sprawl and Brawlers for quite sometime.. With Tonal's sucess I suspect we will see quite a few Stand up guys who add TDO and GnP to their skill set... people mimic the successful builds..

It's simply not possibly with newly created guys now to have every skill, like you could before training changes... So yeah people may round out a bit but also people may specialise a bit more and roll the dice when facing the rounded out builds.

I have read the entire thread so i hope i didnt offend anyone. I was speaking in general not at anyone specifically who might have been opposed to the idea. I dont like change myself. I would actually prefer that a fight engine was choosen and everyone just lived with it. I do think there is a problem with the ground game. Not sure what the solution is. I wouldnt want subs happening at random. But they should be happening at a realistic rate when there is a mismatch. Although in real life a sub verses top level guys is rare. I have always felt you should have sub offense as well as BJJ and defense to consistantly stop submissions. Only because it was to easy to build BJJ and defense(2 skills) and make the guys who have built offense, defense, BJJ, wrestling, GnP (5 skills) useless.

I agree it would make everyone kind of the saem if not done properly. BUt i think without the offense you should still be able to survive on the ground for a little while. But i would make defense rely20% on offense. Without it you might be able to survive 2 takedowns or 2 minutes on the ground with a beast. With offense you might be able to survive most of the fight on the ground. If balanced right it should work out best. My best guys are all stand and bang guys and would be hurt by the change. But i got a few good ones with ground game.

You offended me good sir, and the only way to set things right would be for you to offer up a few of you fighters for super fights in Reach. Did I mention the super cool thing would to also accept a dollar across for any fighter you send? No? Well consider that last sentence as me saying that :P

lol if i had anyone unsigned i would. As for the dollar contract. You get what you pay for. My fighter would turn into Nick Diaz and would smoke put all day and not show up for press conferences. :rolling:

It was a good change Mike ... Fuck those guys who refuse to adapt for the 5th time since the game started... submission offense needed a boost... along with defensive grappling getting a slight downgrade... well done
