slick.nik
UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo is talking and is almost positive about moving up a weight class to Lightweight to fight Champion Anthony Pettis for the Lightweight Title. Which ulitimately leaves the Featherweight Title vacated in the 145 pound division. The rankings of the top 5 go Champion Jose Also, Chad Mendes, Frankie Edgar, Ricardo Lamas, Cub Swanson and Chan Sung Jung. The obvious answer to me would be Mendes and Edgar for the vacated title. But they want to have Mendes and Swanson for the title. Do any of you guys agree with the UFC's choice to have Chad Mendes and Cub Swanson fight for the title. Or do you think it should go according to the rank structure with Chad Mendes and Frankie Edgar?
Rambo
TKZ vs Aldo rematch.
AK47
edgar has one win at fw and swanson is on like a 5 fight tear. the only other person than cub would be TKZ since he had a freak accident to lose his title fight. Edgar is also coaching tuf so he has to fight bj
Dee
I completely agree with this fight. While Frankie is a beast he has had his fair share of title fights (as a challenger too). Cub has been on a tear and is looking better than ever. Mendez is a no-brainer. TKZ would have to fight one more time IMHO. Maybe pit Edgars against him. I wouldn't hate that fight either heh. =)
ens189
Mendes/Cub have the best claim right now but Edgar should get a shot after he beats BJ again.
jsmolina69
Chang Sung Jung vs Dustin Poirier 2 Throw Frankie in there for either fighter
ens189
Chang Sung Jung vs Dustin Poirier 2 Throw Frankie in there for either fighter No way, both are less deserving at this point then Mendes/Cub.
HalifaxUndead
Do Mendes/Swanson 2 and then have Edgar fight the winner if he gets through Penn. Do Lamas vs Poirier or KZ depending on who is healthy and tehn you got up and comers like Bermudez, McGregor etc on their way up
Ramirez
got to be Mendez vs Swanson i've been bursting to see them fight again for about a year now plus the have been smashing their way through the featherweight division for a while now. A2TheJizzle
Im happy if they decide to go this way with it, I love cub, and hope he gets a title shot, I also like his chances of winning too
warlord
this is a great match up.... cant really say who will win.
Rambo
I think if TKZ doesn't get injured in that Aldo fight he wins it. Aldo was gassing heavy.

Ill be interested to see Aldos cardio at 155. I wonder how much of his cardio issues are weight cut related

ens189
I think if TKZ doesn't get injured in that Aldo fight he wins it. Aldo was gassing heavy. Ridiculous. KZ had very little for him and Aldo would've coasted to a UD no matter what.
Guest VladTheImpaler
Have to agree with the UFC on this fight both Mendes and Swanson have five fight winning streak where Frankie is only 1-1 in that division and KZ just lost to Aldo so giving him title fight would not be good idea also. JCRaven
Swanson Vs Mendes Llamas Vs Edgar Porier Vs Stephens thre TKZ and McGregor in the mix when healthy. Siver, Bermudez, & Elkins can be decent match ups for the losers
Guest
I like the matchup, and it is a fight that I would pay to see. I think Cub has the ability to take Mendes, and obviously Mendes is one of the best in the world. Both guys deserve a shot at the title, so having them fight for the vacated title just makes sense. Edgar, TKZ, and Llamas will have opportunities to show they should get a shot at the winner, but I think the UFC got it right.

Guest
UFC have hit the nail on the head with this fight. Both thoroughly deserve it and it is gonna be one hell of a fight. I want Swanson to win though but I think its 50/50.
GregoryJackson
Think it will be a good move for everyone involved (Maybe not so much Pettis haha ). Swanson vs. Mendes for the belt!
Guest
I took the OP at his word. In that post, it didn't appear to be a full hypothetical, but rather a decision that has been made but not set in stone yet. Got it right? This is still just a hypothetical correct? Jacman
Once Aldo moves up maybe Faber can move up to FW and he might get a title shot after a win or two. I think he has a shot at winning a belt in the division.

Rambo
TKZ is miracle man. Would of taken it to Aldo. Mendes wins this one, but I almost want to see Cub win so I don't have to see Team Alpha Males fitness guru who reminds me of a chinese version of Tug Speedman parade around the cage.
