The org that once rules all of Japan is back and ready to rock. In the Japanese tradition there will be much sexiness and tentacles. When I originally created ONI 4 years ago it was a new org for new up and coming fighters to make a name for themselves. We grew organically without trying to hire the highly skilled or hyped fighters. The fighters then grew along with the org to become the global force it once was. I plan to do the same again. We will not be hiring any of the established fighters. Instead we will create our own. For our inaugural event we hope to secure as many ONI vets as wish to take part for a reunion. If you are interested in taking part please post in this thread.

To keep things sexy we are changing the rounds up. ONI used to run 5x10 minute matches. If any vets wish to use this format we are more than happy to oblige, but for the newer fighters we are switching to 5x3 minute rounds with whole fight judging. Championship fights will be 5x5 minute rounds. Fights will also take part in a ring rather than the cage we used to use. In Japan a ring is the only real way to go. There will also be 2 weight classes. One will be for new managers and one for veterans, but both will be new creation 18 year olds. After the original roster has trained a little and the initial champion is decided I will allow older fighters who meet the ID restriction. I just want to promote fighters who plan to have a career rather than a 25 year old temporary fighters.

In the name of PRIDE we decided to use the 205 pound middleweight class for new managers. We will have a poll in this thread for vets to decide which weight they wish to use. Once these two weights have grown a bit we will start two new weights in exactly the same way with a slightly higher ID restriction. By the time we fill all weight classes the original two should be ready to graduate their restriction and become open to all ID's. Recruiting would still keep the roster skill level in mind.

  • 5x3 minute rounds. 5x5 for championship fights.
  • All fights are in a ring.
  • New managers will fight at 205. Vets will fight at a weight to be determined.
  • Fighter ID restriction will be 245k, since we just hit that ID today. 246k for vets to give room to vote and cut fighters if needed.
  • Weights will be added 2 at a time. When all weights are full the ID restriction on the first 2 will be removed.
  • Initial fighters should be 18 years old, but you will be given time to train before our 1st event. We want career fighters, not temporary old guys.
  • Just like the old days businesses will be propositioned to support the fighters with lots of goodies and rewards will be plentiful.

Just curious, why I keep hearing 205 lb. is middleweight? I'm pretty sure it's Light Heavy...

Unless it's in reference to something completely different..

it is lhw but in japan in the pride days i belive they called 205 middle weight as oni is in tokyo this is what we are calling it

I'm hoping to get the vet reunion fights at 10 minute rounds but couldn't justify it for 18 year olds with no cardio yet.

In Pride 185 was call welterweight and 205 was middleweight. They also had 161 lightweight and anything over 205 was called heavyweight though treated as super heavyweight.

I would join. But can't if 1x10 is not implemented in all events.

doesn't feel authentic at all otherwise. and there is no draw vs anywhere else.

authenticy has big draw power.
