Radio: Hi Mike, nice to have you in the show. How are you doing?

 

Mike: I´m in Christmas mood and all the way fine, thank you.

 

Radio: We heard about your upcoming fight next year in Rio. Tell us your thoughts, please.

 

Mike: Yeah, I´m going to Rio next month and will be fighting against Muay Thai specialist Carlos Antonio Atunes. He comes with 4 fight winning streak after beating Osterman at VCL 13. As I heard, he has quite a good wrestling background too. It´s going to be a tough fight, but in my eyes… he´s just another big tree to chop.

 

Radio: Sounds confident.

 

Mike: Sure, I´m known as not caring where, when or who against to fight. It´s a job and it has to be done. Of course, I´d rather fight in New York and of course much sooner again. But… it is what it is. Right after christmas we´re flying to Rio for the rest of the training camp.

 

Radio: Nice attitude. Mike, your division is pretty strong; a lot of tough fighters and the belt is changing rapidly.

 

Mike: Well, another part of the game I´m not much interested to. It makes no difference fighting for the belt or not. I mean, look at this painted clown wearing the belt at the moment…I don´t even know his name… but he is the best example, that anybody can beat anybody at any time just by one lucky punch! At the end of the day, it´s not about fancy pancy makeup…it´s all about the money you make and that´s why I´m here!

I will tell you why Afeef Isa Baba will win. Because he is too well rounded, he might lose the stand up game, but he will win the clinch game and he will win the ground game.

 

My prediction is round 1 Afeef Isa Baba will land leg kicks before moving into the clinch and wearing Gomez down with body strikes. Gomez will land too and it will be an even round. Gomez will even defend Babas takedown attempts in this ground.

 

However in round 2 Baba will land the takedown and cause enough damage with his power and ground and pound to finish Gomez in the round, the finish may not come by the ground and pound though, but it will come in that round.

Close battle. Could have gone either way in my opinion. The 3rd round was closer as it could have gone either way as I landed more with a strike or maybe 2, but I guess his strikes were more significant. It sucks to lose once, let alone twice in a row. Anyway is back to the drawing board to see what I did wrong and I will come better then ever.
