kenlow73
I just seen the card for the TUF finale. Gray Maynard has fallen from where he was before to the Fight Pass Early Prelim of a TUF Finale.
Caleb613
His chin just doesn't exist anymore it's a real shame. He's risking an arlovski situation, but has time to pull it back if he can string 3-4 together from here then his name value will get him back in the top
Guest
sometimes it's really hard to believe .... a guy who is in his 40s now in Romero is in his prime while a guy who is like in his early 30s ( like Barao ) is slowly diminishing ( never counting out Barao at all .. he is one of the very best bantamweights ever .. but seeing couple of his last performances ... u know )and I am not only talking about Romero and Barao, seems like in mma the age is not always a weigh in factor ...and yeah in Maynard's case ... it's sad to see .. he was up with Frankie in the top of the world ... Frankie is still there and Maynard being here
Deuce7
How about Anthony Pettis? I know his last fight was a title fight (Dec. 2016), but did he really earn that? 1-4 in his last 5 fights and he looked nothing like the guy that ran through the 155 division. I'll give you another one, Jake Ellenberger. Considered a top 10 (maybe top 5 at one point) Welterweight, looked really good from 2010-2013, but clearly couldn't handle other top 10 guys. 2-7 in his last 9 fights, but here's the breakdown: Wins - Matt Brown and Josh Koscheck. Losses - Rory MacDonald, Robbie Lawler, Kevin Gastelum, Stephen Thompson, Tarec Saffiedine, Jorge Masvidal, Mike Perry. All but the last have been considered top 10 guys at one point. Yeah but Pettiis is still main eventing cards despite his record, he's got another one coming up. He's not fighting in fight pass early prelims
Rambo
Steroids lol Roger Huerta was 6-0 or 7-0 in UFC at one point
Jacman
Steroids lol Roger Huerta was 6-0 or 7-0 in UFC at one point 6-0 and capped off with a win against Clay Guida and the dude wasn't even 25 I think. A loss to KenFlo and Maynard and he went off the rails. Yeah but Pettiis is still main eventing cards despite his record, he's got another one coming up. He's not fighting in fight pass early prelims It won't be long till Pettis is in a similar position to Maynard. The dude is 30 which isn't old by any means but we've seen the best of him and he doesn't stack up in a loaded LW division anymore.

Frankie is still there and Maynard being here I agree that age is not a very important factor in MMA. It varies totally from person to person. Same goes for learning and growing. My brother was like 5'8'' for years and he is 5 years older than me. I hadn't seen him for like a year or a year and a half and he shot up to 5'10'' (just about a half inch shorter than me at the time) and that's at the age of 29 that he had a growth spurt. The same goes for learning too and research keeps finding out that the numbers keep going up proving that there is no real point that we can definitively say people stop learning or growing. Everyone can hit their physical "prime" at different times. It also can last longer for some or shorter for others. Also steroids might play a factor in some of the people mentioned especially if it's the UFC, biggest stage for fighting in the world so lots of motivation to keep it going.
