170lbs Division Preview

The 170lb division will further one of the most epic and bitter rivalries the tycoon universe has ever known. Whether it was intentional or not we would have to ask the managers involved but regardless it is going down with The Stepdad’s Alex K and The GBU’s Ibrahim Camara facing each other in Round 2

Yaurod Atidibil will be Alex K’s entry and he looks to be a very solid one indeed. Selected from a pool of four potential candidates, Atidibil has already racked up a first round TKO victory pre-tournament. He’ll face FinnFighters manager Bloody Gutz and his fighter Jesse Ristinen in his first round bout and with Gutz being a 2009 OG and topping out a #4 all time, it’ll certainly be a competitive one no question.

Ibrahim “Dishonest as Fuck” Camara really teased his nickname at the start of this tournament when narrowly avoiding another “Weight Gate” scandal as his fighter Quanah “Comanche Moon” Parker began his journey 2lbs under the specified weight. With that issue now resolved, Camara is now set and ready to challenge for the division title and as a recent #1 and current Top 20 he likely be considered by many as having a good shot at doing so. He’ll be facing Diego Diaz who is managed by Yabai’s Jack King. In a team surrounded by former #1’s, King is by far Yabai’s weakest link with a career best of #44.

The Evil Empire’s Mello Jones will be bringing wonderful Muay Thai fighter Willy Do to the 170lbs division and he has already seen some action in a second round KO victory in the run up to the tournament. Jones has a career best of #15 so while obviously capable of getting the job done, like many in his alliance he has slipped outside of the Top 100 in recent times. He’ll take on Kybeau Ren in the first round. A remarkable boxer guided by long time journeyman manager Beau Banks who will represent Heritage. Banks has been around almost since the beginning starting in early 2010 but his career best still stands at a mediocre #251. Can he surprise anyone with a good showing here? Well folks, that is the exciting things about tournaments such as these.

Finally in the 170lbs division we have Cromulent Doom’s Floki “WILL BITE” Agard managed by rookie manager Wes Wes. A career high of #168, Wes has fallen to around #450 of late so will definitely be flying under the radar in terms of being a threat.

Predictions

1st - Yaroud Atidibil

2nd - Quanah Parker

3rd - Jesse Ristinen

4th - Willy Do

5th - Diego Diaz

6th - Kybeau Ren

7th - Floki Agard

205lbs Division Preview

Perhaps this division could be considered the group of death as it will hold the largest amount of former number one managers (including the current #1 Bwang Jong Sr) and the lowest career best elsewhere being as low as #59

The first obvious choice for group favourite would no doubt be the current number one manager Bwang Jong Sr of Yabai. His fighter Gerhard “Or Go Home” Smakatron is already 2-0 amongst his testing pool competitors and has been chosen to represent the current best in the game. A remarkable Muay Thai fighter with proficient wrestling skills of which he will need during his opening round bout against Pika Choo’s Furious Panda. Choo representing Heritage, who is on paper the weakest manager in the division with a career best of #59, will have to hope that his untested entry has some exceptional qualities if he is to hang to hang with the big boys

Another big entry in the group is from The Stepdad’s and that is former No.1 Jake Fury aka King Kendrick aka Ovoxo. He is bringing his iron chinned clinch brawler Hamza Demirovic to the table and will hope to add to his already 1-0 record. He’ll be taking on Cromulent Doom team captain Butch Harris and his fighter Yadeep “The Persian Beast” Singh. With a career best of 45, the burden of expectation weight heavy on his shoulders as Harris clearly represents his alliance’s best shot of a division champion. But with his own cement jawed striker extraordinaire ready to go it would be foolish to dismiss his challenge off hand so soon.

FinnFighters also boast a former No.1 manager in the group with Jorma Oltsu (#26 at time of writing) and his fighter Kake Randelin. Oltsu has chosen against a warm up fight for his charge meaning not very much is known about him at all except for that he ticks all the boxes of being a solid tactical entry. For his First Round fight he takes on The GBU’s returning manager and yet another former No.1 Scotty Jc. Jc has championed a ground and pound specialist in Zane “The Bedtime Story” Alexander for his pick of fighter and with a 1-0 record before the tournament even begins, it’s certainly added to the pool of potential group winners.

Lastly in the group there is Finn Vernon, a wonderful Muay Thai fighter with a Blue Belt in BJJ. He is managed by the Evil Empire’s Kyle Moore who with a career best of #57 might end up scrapping to avoid last place with a couple of others in this absolutely stacked division.

Predictions

1st - Zane Alexander

2nd - Gerhard Smakatron

3rd - Hamza Demirovic

4th - Kake Randelin

5th - Finn Vernon

6th - Furious Panda

7th - Yadeep Singh

265lbs Division Preview

Finally, the battle of the big boys! The 265lbs Division

Two fighters immediately stick out and those are former #1 managers Laz Staz (Yabai) and Power Shark (The GBU)

Stazs entry Francisco Baroza has a remarkable wrestling pedigree and looks solid enough. Currently 1-0, his first professional bout didnt seem to reveal much but his manager must disagree.

Power Shark (currently on loan from largest inactive alliance in the game) will represent The GBU with his fighter Daffy Spitfire Duck. Shark almost got himself and his new alliance banned from the tournament for being mean to Alfred Winterbottom but luckily things didnt come to that which is a good thing as he will definitely be bringing some proven credentials to the division.

These two will face each other in the opening round which could really set the pace for an exciting heavyweight campaign.

Another potentially important fighter here is Markku Innanen managed by FinnFighters Zenaral Manatzer. Manatzer is another 2009 OG who has reached as high as number 4 in his time. Innanen looked promising in his warm up bout racking up a quick first round KO victory and showcasing some truly ferocious power in the clinch. Hell take on the Evil Empires Big Dick Glover who is managed by the lovable Alfred Winterbottom II. Glover looks to be of a similar mould to Innanen except without the accuracy of strikes and power. Glover fought to a draw in pre-tournament bout but due to either a glitch or some out-dated archaic coding it doesnt show on his record.

The Stepdads entry for 265lbs is Bubba Wallace managed by Sean Dickinson. With a career best of #39, Dickinson has the misfortune to be labelled the alliances weakest link which again just goes to show the depth of managerial talent being put forward there. Wallace is as yet untested so nothing is really known about the fighter. He will face Anton Gardner in his first test in what will be something of a mirror match up. Gardner is managed by one of Cromulent Dooms more experienced managers in Andy Down who has a career best of #78 and is currently in the top 100 list. Gardner actually looks like a solid fighter and with his 1-0 record and some heavy hands could be a decent outside bet

Last but not least is Heritages entry The Spartan Gwart Bartem. Managed by Doc Dannis, his career best of #209 means that most of the group are going to be looking at Bartem as easy pickings. A tough group for him no doubt where he will either learn to sink or swim.

Prediction

1st - Markku Innanen

2nd - Francisco Baroza

3rd - Anton Gardner

4th - Bubba Wallace

5th - Daffy Duck

6th - Dick Glover

7th - Gwart Bartem

Yes. Great write-up. Except for that fucking shit about Randy Rutherford finishing last. He's been drinking his milk, eating his vegetables, and saying his prayers brother.

If it makes you feel any better I am usually very, VERY wrong with my predictions.

Also, I was only being nice as I think the Evil Empire will crush our enemies, see them all driven before us and hear the lamentation of their women (or men. It's 2020 now)

The first round is now officially over and the Overall & Group Standings have all been updated and can be found on the first page of this thread.

Second round fight offers have been sent out. As previously discussed, time between fights would be dependent on cuts and injuries and on this occasion a few fighters rolled 16 day cuts so the next round will be three weeks away (Feb 9th 2020)

A more detailed write up will follow up soon.

Alliance World Championship - Round One Recap

135lbs Division

(Heritage) Sergej Tkach vs. Randy Rutherford (The GBU)

(Tkach def. Rutherford by Unanimous Dec)

A solid start for the Heritage captain Sergej Tkach as he convincingly defeated The GBU’s Randy Rutherford over three rounds. Both fighters kept the bout interesting and all avenue's of MMA were on display here. Tkach looked great in the clinch and perhaps sensing this would be his game plan, Rutherford looked to get the fight to the ground at every opportunity. It was a solid tactic and maybe on another day it could have paid off but this time around it just wasn’t enough. Tkach takes two points for his alliance.

Sergej Tkach will next face The Stepdads Markus Haland who will have enjoyed some extra training time during his bye week. Haland has yet to step into the cage so Tkach will have a slight disadvantage not knowing what he is up against though in truth the bout really does have grinding clinch fest written all over it. If that is the case then Tkach and his granite chin have already shown their power there and stands a great chance of continuing his winning ways.

For Randy Rutherford he will next face FinnFighters BJJ Brown Belt Urko Viikate who is coming in off of a close decision win. An interesting fight given that Rutherford clearly has some confidence in his own ground game but a tough one all the same. If Rutherford can use his superior wrestling and keep the fight standing then he has a good shot at picking up some points though I will be lying if I was to say I wasn’t interested in what he could do on the ground against the far more skilled Finnish fighter.

(FinnFighters) Urho Viikate vs. Chrollo Lucifer (Cromulent Doom)

(Viitake def. Lucifer by Split Dec)

Although the end result wasn’t too much of a surprise, it was a great showing for Cromulent Doom’s Chrollo Lucifer against the mighty FinnFighter alliance and their representative Urho Viikate. Delivering pretty much the bout you would expect from two BJJ Brown Belts, both fighters spent the majority of the time trying to gain dominance on the ground. Lucifer was clearly the more aggressive fighter in all avenues of the fight but sometimes less is more as two out of three judges agreed and handed the split decision victory to Viikate.

Viitake next facies Randy Rutherford who was predicted a last place finish just before the tournament start and while he will be the heavy favourite to pick up the win, the reality is that it could actually be a very tough fight given Rutherford’s superior wrestling. Still, if Viitake is able to get the fight to the floor there’s likely little a white belt could do against a brown but after Rutherford’s last showing there are a lot of people who are very excited to see it go down.

Chrollo Lucifer faces an extremely tough match up next when he takes on YABAI’s fearsome Shu Fang Tzeng who is managed by former #1 Action Jackson. It’s a big ask but Lucifer will likely need to improve on his last performance if he is to get any points out of this one. Tzeng will be coming in off of a submission victory and full of confidence but perhaps Lucifer himself will feel as though he is up to the challenge.

(YABAI) Shu Fang Tzeng vs. Evil Empire (Evil Empire)

(Tzeng def. Empire by Submission (Guillotine) at 03:59 Rd 3)

A nice start for the 135lbs Division favourite Shu Fang Tzeng as he improved upon the result of their first QFC fight with Evil Empire’s...Evil Empire. It was definitely against the flow of the fight as Empire dominated rounds 1 and 2 with some solid looking standing offence and was well on his way to a lop sided decision victory before Tzeng managed to get the fight to the floor and snatch a very quick Guillotine submission. Disappointment for Empire but a good amount of confidence can be taken from this fight.

Tzeng will not have to contend with a superior striker in his next round fight as fellow Brown Belt Chrollo Lucifer is just as inept standing as he is. Instead we are likely to see another chess match take place on the mat where Tzeng will definitely be the heavy favourite due to his managers superior experience.

For Evil Empire, some time to train up and prepare for his next fight as he enjoys his Bye Week.

155lbs Division

(Heritage) so Bitch vs. Maximus Furioto (YABAI)

(Furioto def. Bitch by Submission (Kimura) at 02:25 Rd 2)

YABAI’s Maximums Furioto made quick and easy work of Heritage’s highest ranked fighter so Bitch when he managed to get the fight to the floor within seconds of the bouts start. So Bitch was actually predicted to be one of the top fighters in this division so it is no doubt a disappointment to lose in such fashion but against the might of YABAI there can surely be no shame?

A massive bout in the 155lbs division in the next round as Furioto takes on FinnFighters team captain Digi Box. Box, who was predicted to win the division at the beginning of this tournament, will be coming in off of a submission win himself. The fight could also be something of a bogey fight for Furioto considering Box’s far superior striking skills and a solid Purple Belt submission offence. With the result likely to have big repercussions come the end of this tournamnent, this is a fight that neither will want to lose.

For So Bitch, there will be no respite as he faces The Stepdads Chubby Funster managed by current #2 in the game Billy Arseworth. Funster has yet to step into the cage making things all the more difficult for Bitch to formulate a game plan though with a BJJ Brown Belt and some proficient wrestling skills, it is somewhat obvious what Funster will be looking to do. If Bitch is to stop a repeat of his last fight, he desperately has to find a way to stay on his feet.

(FinnFighters) Digi Box vs. Walter Sobchak (Cromulent Doom)

(Box def. Sobchak by Submission (Triangle) at 04:58 Rd 3)

No real surprises as FinnFighter’s team captain Digi Box got the victory over Cromulent Doom’s Walter Sobchak but it definitely wasn’t a good showing considering Box was on the back foot the entire bout and just about eeked out a last second submission victory. Sobchak managed to crack him with some solid shots throughout the bout whilst Box frantically attempted to get the fight on the floor. In the end, it was possibly an error in tactics from the Cromulent Doom man that cost him the points and massive win over a heavy favourite. With only a minute to go in the fight and ahead on all scorecards, Sobchak decided to take the fight to the floor which allowed Box the opportunity to secure a triangle choke in the dying seconds. No doubt Sobchak is cursing that decision now.

Digi Box next goes head to head with the mighty YABAI and Maximus Furioto and this one is definitely one to watch. Box will have a good advantage in the boxing and a dangerous enough ground game to keep BJJ Brown Belt Furioto on his toes.

For Walter Sobchak, it is back to the drawing board as he faces a similar fighter to himself in the Evil Empire's Garth Wader. Both fighters 0-1 currently so both will be anxious to get on the scoreboard.

(Evil Empire) Garth Wader vs. Stig Statham (The GBU)

(Statham def. Wader by Submission (Triangle) at 03:55 Rd 1)

Something of an upset here as The GBU’s Stig Statham took out Evil Empire team captain Garth Wader by first round submission. Statham, who is managed by the somewhat inexperienced Bobb Mogg, managed to weather the initial clinch onslaught from Wader and regain his bearings after being both cut and rocked. Able to drag the fight to the ground by jumping guard it wasn’t long before Statham’s BJJ lessons paid out in full as he secured a triangle choke on Wader.

Garth Wader next faces Cromulent Doom’s Walter Sobchak and with the two alliances currently at the bottom of the heap, there will be a lot riding on the result of this one.

For Stig Statham, he will have an opportunity to work on any weak areas as he enjoys his second round bye week.

170lbs Division

(Evil Empire) Willy Do vs. Kybeau Ren (Heritage)

(Do def. Ren by Unanimous Dec)

Heritage’s Kybeau Ren definitely did a good job of mitigating the superior clinch of his opponent Willy Do (Evil Empire) but by the end of the three rounds had not really managed much output himself leaving him on the receiving end of a lopsided decision loss. Ren had his chances on the ground which may have been a surprise to Do as not many would have predicted that two white belts would be scrapping it out in that area. Neither fighter were expected to set the weight class on fire so it is definitely a good result for Willy Do as he moves into second place after the first round of the tournament.

He will next face Cromulent Doom’s Floki Agard who has yet to make his professional debut. Do will have the more experienced team behind him but with such woeful wrestling, he will be vulnerable to the submission skills of his opponent

Kybeau Ren will next meet top of the table Diego Diaz (managed by Jack King of Yabai) Ren has a very narrow advantage in the wrestling department of which he will need to rely on to keep on his feet. If he can do that he has a decent shot at a big upset.

(YABAI) Diego Diaz vs. Quanah Parker (The GBU)

(Diaz def. Parker by Submission (Armbar) at 04:59, Rd 1)

A superb scalp for Diego Diaz as he took out The GBU’s team captain Quanah Parker (managed by former #1 Ibrahim Camara) and stormed to the top of the Welterweight Table after round one. It was always going to be a chess match with two BJJ Brown Belts going at it but very few would have predicted the fight ending within one round. Parker had looked dangerous coming into this tournament with a 1-0 record in the QFC system whereas Diaz was exposed for having tissue paper for skin. Parker draw first blood with the takedown and from there it was extremely even until Diaz secured a tight armbar just before the Round 1 bell. Big win for Diaz. Disappointing for Parker.

Diego Diaz will now face Heritage’s Kybeau Ren and while being a heavy, heavy favourite, Ren definitely looks to be a tricky match up on paper given his slightly superior wrestling and infinitely better boxing skills. Could an upset be on the cards?

For Quanah Parker, he is thrown straight back into the fire when he goes head to head with The Stepdad’s Yaurod Atidibil. Managed by Alek K, it’s no secret that these two managers have a long and bitter rivalry. It’s the fight we all want to see and tactically, this should be extremely interesting. Parker will be the slight underdog going into this one but he needs to get going soon if he is to move out from the bottom of the table.

(The Stepdads) Yaurod Atidibil vs. Jesse Ristinen (FinnFighters)

(Atidibil def. Ristinen by Unanimous Dec)

A big fight in the170lbs division when The Stepdads Yaurod Atidibil took on FinnFighters Jesse Ristinen. Two alliances expected to dominate in the tournament and two fighters predicted to finish within the Top 3 of the welterweight table. In the end it was a tactical masterclass as Atidibil kept the BJJ Brown belt at distance for three rounds and picked him off at range. Ristinen did start to mount a resurgence in the third but by then it was too little too late and Atidibil picked up two points for his alliance and went joint second in the table.

As previously mentioned, Yaurod next faces what promises to be an emotionally charge showdown with bitter nemesis Quanah Parker. So far camp Camara has been quiet but we expect the mental warfare to start soon. Atidibil looks as though he might just have the blueprint to defeat the grapplers of the group but we will have to see what happens as Camara is still one of the best in the game at forming a winning game plan.

205lbs Division

(The Stepdads) Hamza Demirovic vs. Yadeep Singh (Cromulent Doom)

(Demirovic def. Singh by Unanimous Decision)

A tough start for Cromulent Doom team captain Yadeep Singh as he had the misfortune to match up with The Stepdads Hamza Demirovic (managed by former #1 Jake Fury) His granite chin managed to keep him in the fight but truth be told, it was a one sided affair with Demirovic having his way inside the clinch for 15 minutes straight. A well executed game plan from The Stepdads fighter by not allowing Singh to find his range on the outside and the start that many would have expected from a manager like Fury.

Demirovic will now face the Evil Empire’s Finn Vernon who has been training diligently during his first round bye week. An interesting showdown considering Vernon’s BJJ purple belt and Demirovic’s penchant for fighting inside the clinch. Possibly a tricky fight on paper at least but likely Demirovic will be the heavy favourite.

Singh will next face Heritage’s Furious Panda. Panda, already off to a good start in the tournament, has a massive advantage in the wrestling and considering his skills on the ground, Singh could be in for another rough night.

(Heritage) Furious Panda vs. Gerhard Smakatron (YABAI)

(Panda def. Smakatron by Unanimous Decision)

Completely overlooked and unfancied, Heritage’s Furious Panda made a big statement of intent when he managed to get a decision win over the mighty YABAI’s team captain Gerhard Smakatron. It was a close fight however and Smakatron looked just about as good as you could possible look in defeat landing stinging jabs to the head and body on the feet but in the end it was Panda’s take downs and ground and pound that won the day.

Panda next faces Cromulent Doom team captain Yadeep Singh and, after such a big result here, should be a pretty big favourite considering his massive wrestling advantage. Another win would put him well clear of his predicted finish spot of 6th.

If Gerhard Smakatron is looking to get his tournament campaign started afresh in the next round, he will need to do it against another ground and pound specialist in Zane Alexander. Alexander was predicted to be the group favourite early on but he too was defeated in the first round and will be looking to bounce back himself. Smakatron definitely has the skills to do it but he will need a little bit of lady luck to stop a repeat of his decision lose last time out.

(The GBU) Zane Alexander vs. Kake Randelin (FinnFighters)

(Randelin def. Alexander by TKO (Strikes) at 00:38, Rd 1)

In what was anticipated to be a competitive close fight, FinnFighters Kake Randelin was able to put The GBU’s Zane Alexander away in just under forty seconds. Alexander (managed by former #1 Scotty Jc) who was predicted early to win the group was unable to get the fight to the floor and instead found himself battered with several big shots that put him down and then finished off with a flurry of punches and elbows. The result wasn’t so much of a shock as Randelin is managed by a former #1 in Jorma Oltsu himself but the manner in which it happened will definitely be off concern to Alexander and his camp.

Zane Alexander finds himself in bottom place after one round and will now face another top alliance in YABAI and their 205’er Gerhard Smakatron. Smakatron himself got off to a poor start so will be looking to get going here too. Whatever the result, a loss for either fighter would put them at 0-2 and a great distance away from being division champion.

Kake Randelin goes clear at the top with the only three point finish win in the division so far and will enjoy some extra training time with his second round bye week

265lbs Division

(Cromulent Doom) Anton Gardner vs. Bubba Wallace (The Stepdads)

(Wallace def. Garnder by TKO (Strikes) at 01:33 Rd 1)

Kicking things off in the big boy division was Cromulent Doom’s Anton Gardner taking on The Stepdads Bubba Wallace. With both fighters being known for their destructive power, this fight was only ever going to end one way. Both fighters came out swinging and both left their mark on the other but it was Wallace who was throwing with just a little bit more intent and picked up the first round KO. Neither fighter were predicted to be amongst the top 3 in the division so definitely a great start for The Stepdad’s fighter to go top of the table after only one round.

Anton Gardner takes on unknown quantity next in the form of Heritage’s Gwart Bartem. Bartem, who has yet to step foot inside a cage, looks to be something of a submission wrestler and with little in the way of stand up skills better hope he has a chin or is able to get a quick takedown. Gardner will be expected to pick up the win

For Bubba Wallace he will next face Dick Glover who is coming off of a loss and is also dodging rumours that he is trying to bribe future opponents into taking a dive. After a result like this, Wallace will be the strong favourite but otherwise both fighters have similar skills.

(Evil Empire) Dick Glover vs. Markku Innanen (FinnFighters)

(Innanen def. Glover by TKO (Cut) at 03:54, Rd 1)

In one of the worst cases of cheating since the last one, Markku Innanen had so much oil on his skin that Dick Glover was unable to get a firm grip inside the clinch and was battered to pieces and suffered a TKO due to cuts inside of one round. On paper it looked to be a somewhat even fight but due to the blatant disregard of the rules Dick Glover now finds himself joint bottom in the table whilst the “victor” Innanen moves into second place.

Markku Innanen now goes on to face YABAI’s Francisco Baroza who was also stopped via cuts in his fight. The fight looks to be very much the same as this one though this time there can be none of the same shenanigans from the Finnish camp.

Dick Glover will next face top of the table Bubba Wallace and in anticipation has forgone any minor surgery offered in the aftermath of this recent bout. Again a very similar looking match up but Glover will need to be aware of the certain attempts of cheating by the Stepdads alliance.

(YABAI) Francisco Barazo vs. Daffy Duck (The GBU)

(Duck def. Barazo by TKO (Cut) at 03:55, Rd 1)

A poor start from the fighter predicted to finish second in the group as The GBU’s Daffy Duck took out YABAI’s Francisco Barazo before the end of round one with some viscous elbows inside the clinch. In fact, that was literally all that Duck attempted and on this occasion it did just the trick as Barazo found himself sliced and diced before he had time to think.

Barazo, who is managed by former #1 and current #3 Laz Staz, will now face another strong clinch fighter in Markku Innanen. Baroza will have the advantage in the wrestling but whether that will be enough to match Innenen is what we will be waiting to see.

Daffy Duck, managed by former #1 Power Shark, wasn’t predicted to be amongst the very top fighters in this weight class so this was definitely a big result for him and possibly a warning to the rest of the division that he is not there to make up the numbers. He will now get some time to rest up and improve as he goes into a Round 2 bye week.

ALLIANCE TABLE - ROUND ONE

(1) FinnFighters (4-1, Fin Win 3, Dec Win 1, Dec Loss 1 = Points 11)

(2) Yabai (3-2, Fin Win 3, Dec Loss 1, Fin Loss 1 = Points 8)

(3) The Stepdads (3-0, Fin Win 1, Dec Win 2 = Points 7)

(4) The GBU (2-3, Fin Win 2, Dec Loss 2, Fin Loss 1 = Points 5)

(5) Heritage (2-2, Dec Win 2, Dec Loss 1, Fin Loss 1 = Points 3)

(6) Evil Empire (1-3, Dec Win 1, Fin Loss 3 = Points -1)

(7) Cromulent Doom (0-4, Dec Loss 2, Fin Loss 2 = Points -2)

Nothing too surprising after one round though it could be argued that YABAI weren't quite as dominant as I thought they would be.

FinnFighters take the top of the table with the help of three maximum point victories to go 3 points clear of second placed YABAI.

The Stepdads had a great first round going 3-0 overall though the missed points from decision victories meant that they missed a chance to go second.

The GBU sit probably about where I imagined they would be but the results of the first round were definitely interesting.

2-2 for Heritage with a win over YABAI in the 205lbs could be considered a great first round result.

Evil Empire had a poor showing going 1-3. Still early days but to finish the round on minus points is definitely a kick in the ballsack.

For there to be winners then there has to be losers and unfortunately for Cromulent Doom, a 0-4 round puts them rock bottom on -2 points. I would say that I feel bad but in truth I am quite relieved that it wasn't the Evil Empire.
