Quick Update

Another great round of action with some big upsets for the little guys. A more detailed review will be up within the week.

Round 3 will take place in three weeks time on Sunday 1st March 2020 due to a couple of fighters getting the dreaded 16 day cut/injury

OVERALL STANDINGS (End of Round 2)

1 (3) The Stepdads (7-1, Fin Win 5, Dec Win 2, Fin Loss 1 = Points 18)

2 (1) FinnFighters (6-2, Fin Win 5, Dec Win 1, Dec Loss 1, Fin Loss 1 = Points 16)

3 (4) The GBU (4-4, Fin Win 4, Dec Loss 2, Fin Loss 2 = Points 10)

4 (2) Yabai (4-6, Fin Win 4, Dec Loss 2, Fin Loss 4 = Points 8)

5 (5) Heritage (4-5, Fin Win 2, Dec Win 2, Dec Loss 1, Fin Loss 4 = Points 6)

6 (6) Evil Empire (3-5, Fin Win 1, Dec Win 2, Fin Loss 5 = Points 2)

7 (7) Cromulent Doom (2-7, Fin Win 1, Dec Win 1, Dec Loss 3, Fin Loss 4 = Points 1)

A big round for The Stepdads saw them go 4-1 and leapfrog the FinnFighters alliance to go top of the overall rankings. Although still very early some of their fighters are looking very strong indeed.

The Finnfighters drop to second but that's not through any bad results really. Only three of their team in action this round and they went 2-1. Now on exactly the same amounts of fights as The Stepdads and only two points separate them which is very little at this point.

An upset result for The GBU helped them go 2-1 this round and climb above the mighty Yabai to go third.

Yabai had a disastrous round picking up only the one win out of 5. Most of the losses were by finish too meaning they dropped a few precious points. Still very early in the competition but some of their big name manager will really need to start performing to their expected ability if they are not to get left behind the other top alliances.

Heritage are hanging in there around the middle of the pack with a 2-3 round and a couple of very good results among them. It will be interesting to see whether they could possibly make a push into the Top 3?

Not a terrible round for the Evil Empire at 2-2 but not enough to make up for their terrible first round and certainly not enough to make it seem as though they could finish anywhere above the middle of the table. Currently looking like they are going to be scrapping it out with Cromulent Doom for last spot.

Not the best for Cromulent Doom at 2-3 and not good enough to get them away from last spot. Still, some promising results in their means they could at least make it interesting in some of their match ups against the bigger alliances.

Alliance World Championship - Round Two Recap

135lbs Division

1 (2) (Her) Sergej Tkach (2-0, Fin Win 1, Dec Win 1 = Points 5)

2 (5) (GBU) Randy Rutherford (1-1, Fin Win 1, Dec Loss 1 = Points 3) *Time -02:24

3 (1) (YAB) Shu Feng Tzeng (1-1, Fin Win 1, Dec Loss 1 = Points 3) *Time -13:59

4 (6) (CD) Chrollo Lucifer (1-1, Dec Win 1, Dec Loss 1 = Points 2)

5 (3) (FF) Urho Viikate (1-1, Dec Win 1, Fin Loss 1 = Points 1)

6 (4) (TSD) Markus Haland (0-1, Fin Loss 1 = Points -1) *Time +14:31

7 (7) (EE) Evil Empire (0-1, Fin Loss 1 = Points -1) *Time +13:50

(Cromulent Doom) Chrollo Lucifer vs. Shu Fang Tzeng (YABAI)

(Lucifer def. Tzeng by Unanimous Dec)

The first of three big upsets in the 135lbs Division, Cromulent Doom’s Chrollo Lucifer took home a big scalp when he upset the mighty YABAI’s Shu Fang Tzeng by unanimous decision.

It was said that Lucifer needed to be even better than he was in his last outing, a split decision loss against Urho Viitake, if he was to beat the number one seed in the 135lbs Division and it was further remarked that it would be a huge ask to do such a thing but here we are folks. It wasn’t pretty and neither was it entertaining but after three rounds of ground control, Lucifer picked up two much needed points for his alliance and managed to move up into the 4th spot in the table.

Lucifer will next face Evil Empire’s Evil Empire who has had plenty of time to reflect on his first round loss to Tzeng during his bye week. A tough fight for Lucifer if he cannot get the fight to the ground but after this win here, he will surely be the favourite in this match up?

As for Tzeng, he faces a similar showdown against The GBU’s Randy Rutheford who is coming in off of a big win himself. Tzeng should be favourite with his former #1 manager Action Jackson behind him but he will need to make sure that the fight hits the ground quickly

(Heritage) Sergej Tkach vs. Markus Haland (The Stepdads)

(Tkach def. Haland by TKO (Strikes) at 04:31, Rd 3)

Surprise package Sergej Tkach picked up his second win of the tournament, this time at the expense of The Stepdad’s Markus Haland. It was Haland’s first fight in any capacity and this certainly wouldn’t have been the result he was looking for. Things started off well enough for the Norwegian fighter and most would have had him ahead going into the third round despite a scary moment in the second when Tkach wobbled him. In fact, it looked very much as though Haland was about to coast to a unanimous decision victory aside from the fact that Tkach was obviously throwing with just a little bit more malice and with only half a minute left of the fight, Tkach cracked him with a beautiful right hand that put him out.

With the win, Heritage captain Sergej Tkach took the number one spot in the 135lbs Division and currently remains the only undefeated fighter there also. A far cry from his predicted sixth place prediction and his alliance must be thrilled with how things are going for them in this division so far. Tkach now gets to rest up and enjoy a third round bye week

A tough loss to swallow no doubt for Haland but now he must pick himself back up and prepare for a tough battle with FinnFighter Urho Viikate. Haland has the wrestling to nullify Viitake's BJJ based style and just enough boxing to make him very dangerous on the feet against the Finn. Most would have Haland as a slight favourite I imagine but this should definitely be a very competitive match up

(The GBU) Randy Rutheford vs. Urho Viikate (FinnFighters)

(Rutherford def. Viikate by TKO (Strikes) at 02:24, Rd 1)

The last upset in the 135lbs Division comes from The GBU’s Randy Rutheford who certainly couldn't have imagined that a win against FinnFighters Urho Viikate could have come so quickly and so easily?

Viikate was the heavy favourite coming in but on this ocasion seemed to have gotten his tactics very wrong indeed. Far too content to strike against a superior striker and far too sloppy in his execution, Rutheford punished each missed attempt with a stinging counters making the crowd wince as the Finn took his licks. Eighteen solid counters later and unable to get the fight to the floor, Viikate could take no more and Rutheford finished him off picking up three big points for his alliance.

Another tough fight awaits Viikate in the next round as he takes on The Stepdads Markus Haland. He could face a similar result unless he either drastically improves his striking accuracy or manages to get the fight to the ground. Haland has some very good wrestling and that could be the biggest deciding factor in the fight

For Rutheford he will want to capitalise on this big win with another over division favourite Shu Fang Tzeng of YABAI. Tzeng is a very similar fighter to Viikate so more of the same is what would be needed to keep the momentum going. Rutherford made a big jump in the table moving up into second spot and a maximum point win against Tzeng would see him top of the table. Certainly a very motivation factor for the unfancied GBU man.

155lbs Division

1 (3) (FF) Digi Box (2-0, Fin Win 1, Dec Win 1 = Points 5)

2 (4) (TSD) Chubby Funster (1-0, Fin Win 1 = Points 3) *Time -00:27

3 (2) (GBU) Stig Statham (1-0, Fin Win 1 = Points 3) *Time -3:55

4 (1) (YAB) Maximus Furioto (1-1, Fin Win 1, Fin Loss 1 = Points 2)

5 (6) (EE) Garth Wader (1-1, Dec Win 1, Fin Loss 1 = Points 1)

6 (5) (CD) Walter Sobchak (0-2, Dec Loss 1, Fin Loss 1 = Points -1)

7 (7) (Her) so Bitch (0-2, Fin Loss 2 = Points -2)

(FinnFighters) Digi Box vs. Maximus Furioto (YABAI)

(Box def. Furioto by Unanimous Decision)

A massive showdown between two powerful alliances, FinnFighter’s team captain Digi Box managed to keep his cool and his perfect record intact when he defeated YABAI’s Maximus Furioto by unanimous decision.

Tactically, this was a superb display of MMA action and the bout earned Fight of the Night honours. Submission wrestler Furioto knew his only real chance was on the ground but with a Purple belt himself, Box was able to hold him off long enough to get plenty of opportunities on the feet and that is exactly where the fight was won. Box tagged Furioto plenty throughout the fight but was unable to put him away and Furioto’s cast iron jaw will definitely be feeling the effects of this one. A big win for Box and certainly an important one with two other undefeated fighters breathing down his neck.

Box will now prepare for probably his toughest fight of the tournament and that is against The Stepdads Chubby Funster who is managed by current No.9 Billy Arseworth. A similar match up to what he just faced in Furioto, Box could be well suited to deal with these BJJ/Submission fighters in the 155lbs Division. However the fight goes down it is certain that this result will play a huge role in the overall standings and both fighters will most likely be looking at this as thee deciding fight

In such a competitive division, the loss for Maximus Furioto will definitely have made a big dent in his overall chances though it is true that there is still plenty of time to go. Still, a big loss in a big fight, Furioto will now try to get back on track when he faces Evil Empire’s team captain Garth Wader.

(Evil Empire) Garth Wader vs. Walter Sobchak (Cromulent Doom)

(Wader def. Sobchak by Unanimous Decision)

A solid win for Evil Empire’s Garth Wader over Cromulent Doom’s Walter Sobchak and some much needed points for the team captains alliance.

Two very similar fighters in Wader and Sobchak but the end result was somewhat one sided as Wader outworked Sobchak inside the clinch. Total strikes landed weren’t too far apart so we can only deduce that it was the work rate of the Evil Empire team captain that gave him the unanimous 30-27 score from each of the three judges.

Wader faces a tough challenge next when he goes head to head with YABAI’s Maximus Furioto and really, if he has any aspirations of competing for the division title, he will need to pick up some more points as another loss would really leave him slumming with the bottom players.

For Walter Sobchak, he is still without a win after two fights and currently just above last place at number six. One of two fighters in the division sitting at 0-2, he will need to dig deep if he is to turn this around as his next opponent will be The GBU’s Stig Statham who currently sits in 3rd place.

(The Stepdads) Chubby Funster vs. so Bitch (Heritage)

(Funster def. Bitch by Submission (Armbar) at 00:27, Rd 1)

A storming start for The Stepdads 155lbs representative Chubby Funster as he picks up a lightening fast win over Heritage’s so Bitch in his very first professional fight.

Bitch threw a sloppy combination and followed up with a slick takedown into Funster’s guard and in the blink of an eye, Funster turned it into a tight armbar leaving Bitch with no option but to tap out. In just under half a minute, that was all she wrote folks. The whole fight in it’s entirety but enough to win Funster a Submission of the Night award for sure.

The win gave another three points to the Stepdad’s and made sure Funster sits very comfortably in second place after only one fight. Currently joint with Stig Statham separated by virtue of having gotten the job done quicker then his rival. Funster faces an extremely tough fight next against FinnFighters team captain and current division leader Digi Box. Box just beat a very similar looking Maximus Furioto so Funster could definitely learn a lot from that match up. A difficult bout to predict but with perhaps Box being the ever so slight favourite

For so Bitch it was his second loss by finish in a row meaning that he currently sits at the bottom of the table, well below his predicted spot of 2nd place. Perhaps the pressure of such expectations have gotten the better of him though more likely a very bad prediction from the writer. Either way, Bitch desperately needs a win to wipe out the minus points but for now he will need to be patient as he goes into his third round bye week.

170lbs Division

1 (1) (YAB) Diego Diaz (2-0, Fin Win 2 = Points 6)

2 (2) (EE) Willy Do (2-0, Fin Win 1, Dec Win 1 = Points 5) *Time -01:25

3 (3) (TSD) Yaurod Atidibil (2-0, Fin Win 1, Dec Win 1 = Points 5) *Time -02:30

4 (6) (FF) Jesse Ristinen (0-1, Dec Loss 1 = Points 0)

5 (4) (CD) Floki Agard (0-1, Fin Loss 1 = Points -1)

6 (5) (Her) Kybeau Ren (0-2, Dec Loss 1, Fin Loss 1 = Points -1)

7 (7) (GBU) Quannah Parker (0-2, Fin Loss 2 = Points -2)

(The Stepdads) Yaurod Atidibil vs. Quanah Parker (The GBU)

(Atidibil def. Parker by TKO (Strikes) at 02:30, Rd 1)

It was billed as a grudge match between two bitter rivals and alliance team captains but in the end, the fight and it’s result were definitely a disappointing anti-climax. The Stepdad’s Yaurod Atidibil defeated The GBU’s Quanah Parker by TKO inside of one round.

It was always going to be a tough match up for Parker considering the styles at play here but many were disappointed that he wasn’t able to put up more of a fight against the clinch heavy tactics of his opponent. Unable to get the fight to the ground, Parker was left at the mercy of Atidibil’s meat grinder of a clinch game and ended up torn to shreds by shots to the head and body.

A big result for the Stepdad’s captain to keep pace with the division leaders as so far the 170lbs class looks to be a very competitive one. One of three current fighters sitting on 2-0 record in the division, Atidibil will be feeling ever confident of taking the top spot very soon as he faces massive underdog Kybeau Ren of Heritage next. Ren sits in 6th place and hasn’t managed to pick up any points in two fights.

As for Parker, you really have to wonder just what he can do from here on out? Sitting in last place on minus 2 points, Parker would surely need a miracle to end up clinching this division. Certainly under performing for his alliance at this point, perhaps the best Parker could do for them is to stop losing by finish. He will next face FinnFighters Jesse Ristenen of whom has enjoyed a second round bye week. Both BJJ Brown Belts, Parker will at least be thankful that he doesn’t have to worry about getting punched in the face too much.

(Evil Empire) Willy Do vs. Floki Agard (Cromulent Doom)

(Do def. Agard by TKO (Strikes) at 01:25, Rd 1)

Another showdown between two bottom battling alliances (though I’ve heard Cromulent Doom are the biggest bottom battlers ever ha!) and once again with good defeating evil, Evil Empire’s Willy Do defeated Cromulent Doom’s Floki Agard.

With two fighters known to have some heavy hands, this one could have ended up a blood bath but fortunately for Do, his superior clinch work was enough to steer him clear of Agard’s dangerous punches and pick up the maximum point win inside of one round. It was Agard’s first step into the cage so no doubt a disappointing first result for the Danish submission wrestler.

With the win, Do takes the second place spot in what looks like will be a very competitive 170lbs division. One of three fighters there to sport a 2-0 record still, Do will now have some time to train up any lagging areas of his game during his bye round

Things seemingly get harder for Agard as he prepares to match up against group leader Diego Diaz of YABAI. Diaz has the edge on the ground so Agard is going to have to make the very best of a very small advantage in the boxing. Perhaps we will get to see that KO power of his this time round?

(YABAI) Diego Diaz vs. Kybeau Ren (Heritage)

(Diaz def. Ren by Submission (Guillotine) at 04:57, Rd 2)

Certainly not an unexpected end result in this one as YABAI’s Diego Diaz managed to get a second round submission victory of Heritage man Kybeau Ren.

Diaz coasted through the first round after getting an early takedown and proceeded to probe Ren’s submission defence for the rest of the round. Ren managed to hang in there but with such relentless top pressure from Diaz, it was always only a matter of time before the YABAI fighter found an opening and that moment came during the last seconds of the second round.

Now with two maximum point victories out of two, Diaz keeps his place at the top of the table for another round though he does have Willy Do and Yaurod Atidibil snapping at his heels only a point behind. Still, Diaz will be a heavy favourite to continue his run as he takes on Cromulent Doom’s Floki Agard next.

Another loss for Kybeau Ren who now goes 0-2 in the tournament but remarkably is able to keep above last place. There have definitely been some positives that Ren can take away from these fights and while a top place finish is now very unlikely it definitely wouldn’t be a complete shock to see him pick up a few wins down the line. Unfortunately, the odds makers would not believe such a victory will come in his next match up against The Stepdad’s Yaurod Atidibil who will be an overwhelming favourite to get the win.

205lbs Division

1 (1) (TSD) Hamza Demirovic (2-0, Fin Win 1, Dec Win 1 = Points 5) *Time -02:58

2 (3) (Her) Furious Panda (2-0, Fin Win 1, Dec Win 1 = Points 5) *Time -08:57

3 (1) (FF) Kake Randelin (1-0, Fin Win 1 = Points 3)

4 (7) (GBU) Zane Alexander (1-1, Fin Win 1, Dec Loss 1 = Points 2)

5 (4) (EE) Finn Vernon (0-1, Fin Loss 1 = Points -1)

6 (5) (CD) Yadeep Singh (0-2, Dec Loss 1, Fin Loss 1 = Points -1) *Time +08:57

7 (6) (YAB) Gerhard Smakatron (0-2, Dec Loss 1, Fin Loss 1 = Points -1) *Time +04:56

(The Stepdads) Hamza Demirovic vs. Finn Vernon (Evil Empire)

(Demirovic def. Vernon by TKO (Strikes) at 02:58, Rd 1)

The Evil Empire’s Finn Vernon is known for having a cast iron jaw but that didn’t seem to help him when The Stepdads Hamza Demirovic manhandled him in the clinch and handed him his first loss.

In truth, this was a quick one sided beat down in which Vernon never even really got started. The fight moved almost instantly in the clinch where it became evident that Demirovic was much, much stronger in that area. Only three minutes into the first round, Vernon had taken all he could take and the referee was forced to stop the fight

It was an impressive win for Demirovic who keeps his top of the table spot for now and, under the guidance of current #8 manager Jake Fury, looks to be a very tough fighter to unseat from here. Demirovic next gets a third round bye.

For Finn Vernon he will need to put this loss behind him and concentrate on his remaining six fights. Unfortunately he will next face an in-form Furious Panda who has been somewhat of a surprise in the Light-Heavyweight division. Both BJJ purple belts, Vernon will need to find a way to deal with the far superior wrestling, something he really struggled with against Demirovic.

(Heritage) Furious Panda vs. Yadeep Singh (Cromulent Doom)

(Panda def. Singh by TKO (Strikes) at 03:57, Rd 2)

Heritage’s Furious Panda followed up his superb win over YABAI captain Gerhard Smakatron with another impressive showing, this time taking out Cromulent Doom leader Yadeep Singh.

Taken down early in the first, Singh showed tremendous heart to endure the barrage of strikes that Panda dished out and was obviously relieved to hear the bell at the end of the round. The second round followed much the same only this time Panda was able to get the mount and from their Singh was a sitting duck and the referee stepped in with around a minute of the second round to go.

The loss marked Yadeep Singh’s second in a row and leaves him joint bottom of the table and separated only by virtue of having spent more time in the cage. It has been a tough run so far for the Cromulent Doom team captain and it doesn’t look to get better anytime soon as he next facies The GBU’s Zane Alexander who is managed by former #1 manager Scotty JC

(The GBU) Zane Alexander vs. Gerhard Smakatron (YABAI)

(Alexander def. Smakatron by TKO (Strikes) at 04:56, Rd 1)

After a bad start for both fighters, the showdown between The GBU’s Zane Alexander and YABAI’s Gerhard Smakatron was to be doubly important. Two fighters predicted to finish in the first two spots, another loss would surely spell disaster for any such aspirations? In the end, it was the man from Merimbula who got the win and Gerhard Smakatron left to pick up the pieces of yet another crushing loss.

Smakatron just couldn’t get going. Taken down early by Alexander, he was simply no match on the ground for the wonderful wrestler and his heavy ground and pound style and succumb to a TKO finish agonisingly close to the end of the first round.

The win allowed Alexander to climb up from the bottom of the 205lbs Table into a comfortable 4th place spot and gives his division title hopes a fresh coat of paint. He will next face a struggling Yadeep Singh of Cromulent Doom and he will definitely go in as the heavy favourite.

For Gerhard Smakatron, it really is do or die from here. It would be difficult to imagine anything less than a perfect run from here being enough to challenge for the division title but under the management of former #1 manager Bwang Jong Sr, it couldn't be entirely counted out. Still, a thoroughly disappointing campaign thus far and well under expectations. Smakatron will next face FinnFighters 1-0 Kake Randelin who incidentally holds a first round KO victory over Alexander. A very tough match up given recent results and because of that many would probably have Randelin as the favorite going into the fight

265lbs Division

1 (1) (TSD) Bubba Wallace (2-0, Fin Win 2 = Points 6) *Time -05:05

2 (2) (FF) Markku Innanen (2-0, Fin Win 2 = Points 6) *Time -09:36

3 (3) (GBU) Daffy Duck (1-0, Fin Win 1 = Points 3)

4 (7) (CD) Anton Gardner (1-1, Fin Win 1, Fin Loss 1 = Points 2)

5 (4) (Her) Gwart Bartem (0-1, Fin Loss 1 = Points -1)

6 (5) (YAB) Francisco Baroza (0-2, Fin Loss 2 = Points -2) *Time +09:37

7 (6) (EE) Dick Glover (0-2, Fin Loss 2 = Points -2) *Time +07:26

(FinnFighters) Markku Innanen vs. Francisco Baroza (YABAI)

(Innanen def. Baroza by TKO (Strikes) at 00:42, Rd 2)

FinnFighters Markku Innanen continued his impressive run start to the tournament, this time at the expense of YABAI’s Francisco Baroza.

Baroza draw first blood when he opened up a small cut on the Finnish man’s forehead but it wasn’t long before Innanen was able to get his own back when he took the fight into the clinch. With impressive technique, Innanen began to break down Baroza from close quarters and managed to slice him open with an elbow. From there things started to go downhill fast for Baroza as Innanen kept working him over from inside the clinch, opening the cut to such a degree that you could see both the referee and ringside doctor exchanging anxious glances. Baroza somehow made it into the second round but he was practically out on his feet for the second where Innanen ruthlessly took advantage with more sickening elbows to the head.

With the win Markku Innanen keeps pace with Bubba Wallace both of whom have managed to pick up the maximum six points out of six. Wallace just ahead by virtue of time. Innanen will prepare to face Daffy Duck who is far more dangerous than his name might suggest. Likely to be a clash of similar styles, Innanen will hope that his blend of Muay Thai and Wrestling will be enough to see him through.

For Francisco Baroza, he now slumps to 0-2 and will have the misfortune to next face group leader Bubba Wallace. With two poor showings behind him, it's likely he will struggle against the raw power of his opponent unless his manager, former #1 and current #5 Laz Staz, can conjure up some magic to get him away from the bottom of the table.

(The Stepdads) Bubba Wallace vs. Dick Glover (Evil Empire)

(Wallace def. Glover by KO (Strikes) at 03:32, Rd 1)

Resembling something closer to a prison daddy shower tussle than an actual MMA fight, The Stepdads Bubba Wallace took on Evil Empire’s Dick Glover and once again it was Glover that dropped the soap.

Glover clearly wanted the fight in the clinch but Wallace was having none of it despite doing better work there than Glover himself. Both fighters landed decent shots and both fighters managed to give the other a reminder of their time together but in the end it was Wallace who landed the kill shot when he caught Glover with a huge uppercut ending the fight midway through round one.

This makes it two first round KO’s for Wallace in a row and now, in joint first place with Markku Innanen, Wallace looks to be a very strong contender to take the Heavyweight Division title overall. He faces a tough opponent in YABAI’s Francisco Baroza next though Baroza has been in poor form of late and could be easy pickings for the powerful striker Wallace.

As for poor Dick Glover, he currently resides in bottom place and looks to be pretty much a useless piece of crap. Rumour has it that his manager couldn’t be bothered to set up a proper game plan and instead just ran with an old LOD 25 year old QFC clinch fight tactic that he had in his presets. A bold gamble or a foolish mistake? A KO loss in three and a half minutes over a granite chin answers that one.

(Cromulent Doom) Anton Gardner vs. Gwart Bartem (Heritage)

(Gardner def. Bartem by KO (Punch) at 00:09, Rd 1)

In possibly the quickest fight so far in the tournament, Cromulent Doom’s Anton Gardner blasted Heritage’s Gwart Bartem out of the cage in just nine seconds!

Showing some disgusting power in those fists of his, Gardner’s first shot opened up a big cut on Bartem’s face and his second, an uppercut from hell, damn near lifted him off of his feet.

It was a nice turnaround for Gardner who suffered defeat in his opening round fight and with the victory moves up from last place into fourth. He will now get an opportunity to rest up and train as he enjoys a bye week in round three.

For Gwart Bartem it definitely wasn’t the start he was looking for but nevertheless he must now move on from this highlight reel KO loss. He will face Dick Glover in the next round who has been very poor so far in the tournament. Possibly the perfect opponent for him to get his tournament back on track?

Great writeup Albert !

It`s been pretty hectic with work/travel and stuff and have been forgetting to set sliders a lot (I just almost did with my fighter Trump) but we will bounce back !

Overall I`m very happy with how the GBU is performing, very proud of the team and all the conversations going on in the alliance chat and tactics being shared by the veterans that joined for the tourney :)

Great tourney as always bud !

Quick Update

Well, Round 3 is over and it was once again The Stepdads dominating proceedings. A more detailed write up will be on it's way but I'm not quite sure when.

Round 3 will take place in three weeks time on Sunday 22nd March 2020 due to one fighter getting a 16 day cut. We almost made it to 2 weeks but there you go. Makes me wish we'd had gone 18 year old builds now with all the training time we're getting. That's my bad. Next time perhaps.

OVERALL STANDINGS (End of Round 3)

1 (1) The Stepdads (11-1, Fin Win 8, Dec Win 3, Fin Loss 1 = Points 29)

2 (2) FinnFighters (9-4, Fin Win 8, Dec Win 1, Dec Loss 1, Fin Loss 3 = Points 23)

3 (4) Yabai (6-9, Fin Win 6, Dec Loss 3, Fin Loss 6 = Points 12)

4 (3) The GBU (5-8, Fin Win 5, Dec Loss 2, Fin Loss 6 = Points 9)

5 (5) Heritage (5-7, Fin Win 3, Dec Win 2, Dec Loss 2, Fin Loss 5 = Points 8)

6 (6) Evil Empire (5-7, Fin Win 3, Dec Win 2, Fin Loss 7 = Points 6)

7 (7) Cromulent Doom (4-9, Fin Win 2, Dec Win 2, Dec Loss 3, Fin Loss 6 = Points 4)

Another huge round for the Stepdads going 4-0 with some wins in big key fights against FinnFighters meaning they stay at the top of the pack for now.

FinnFighters are hanging in there but with the two losses in their 3-2 round coming from key fights against The Stepdads, you have to wonder if they will be able to keep pace with them for much longer. FinnFighters remain in second place.

Whilst the mighty YABAI were able to move up a spot from 4th to 3rd, it was really only down to the other alliances having even worse rounds then them. All five fighters in action but only managing to muster up a 2-3 record in round 3. They are now some 11 points behind second place FinnFighters and 17 behind The Stepdads. It's certainly been a disappointing last couple of rounds but with four more to go they still have a chance at mounting a comeback.

The GBU slipping down into 4th from 3rd after a disastrous 1-4 round 3 and pretty much now amongst the dogfight down at the bottom of the table.

Only 3 fighters in action for Heritage this week and they managed to go 1-2 overall. Now only 4 points away from a third place finish and with two of their fighters currently pushing for division wins, Heritage could in theory be in the running for a medal here.

Another 2-2 round for Evil Empire keeps them stuck down in the sixth spot and things are really getting messy. The next half of this tournament is going to be very interesting indeed.

For the third round in a row Cromulent Doom round out the bottom of the table also with a 2-2 round. Some big scalps for them though so they definitely aren't going down without a fight.

Alliance World Championship - Round Three Recap

135lbs Division

1 (3) (YAB) Shu Feng Tzeng (2-1, Fin Win 2, Dec Loss 1 = Points 6)

2 (1) (Her) Sergej Tkach (2-0, Fin Win 1, Dec Win 1 = Points 5)

3 (7) (EE) Evil Empire (1-1, Fin Win 1, Fin Loss 1 = Points 2) *Time -00:31

4 (6) (TSD) Markus Haland (1-1, Fin Win 1, Fin Loss 1 = Points 2) *Time -01:25

5 (2) (GBU) Randy Rutherford (1-2, Fin Win 1, Dec Loss 1, Fin Loss 1 = Points 2)

6 (4) (CD) Chrollo Lucifer (1-2, Dec Win 1, Dec Loss 1, Fin Loss 1 = Points 1)

7 (5) (FF) Urho Viikate (1-2, Dec Win 1, Fin Loss 2 = Points 0)

(FinnFighters) Urho Viikate vs. Markus Haland (The Stepdads)

(Haland def. Viikate by TKO (Punches) at 01:25, Rd 1)

The Stepdads Markus Haland picked up his first win of the tournament with a quick TKO victory over FinnFighters Urho Viikate. Haland, obviously eager to put his previous loss to Sergej Tkach behind him, set upon Viikate from the get go giving the Finnish fighter no chance to even plant his feet and mount any return offence himself.

The win was enough to move him up from 6th into joint 4th tied with Evil Empire on 2 points each but behind by virtue of having the slower win. A huge fight now awaits him as he takes on YABAI’s Shu Fang Tzeng who just took the top spot in the 135lbs Division.

There will no doubt be concern over Viikate’s recent performances with this loss marking the second in a row and in the same vein. He now finds himself dropping from 5th into the bottom of the group and desperately needing to find a way of dealing with the superior strikers around him His next fight will not alleviate any of that pressure however as he faces an in form Heritage captain Sergej Tkach who is currently chasing the 135lbs top spot.

(YABAI) Shu Fang Tzeng vs. Randy Rutherford (The GBU)

(Tzeng def. Rutherford by Sub (Guillotine) at 01:47, Rd 1)

YABAI’s BJJ Brown Belt Shu Fang Tzeng managed to successfully execute his game plan against brawler Randy Rutherford (The GBU) but he had to take a few shots to get there. Closing the gap is always dangerous when facing a superior striker but Tzeng was relentless in his attempts to drag the fight to the ground and eventually it paid off managing to secure a tight guillotine from guard a little under two minutes in the first round.

A nice result for group favourite Tzeng who suffered a blip during his last fight where he lost an aggravating decision to Chrollo Lucifer. Tzeng now goes 2-1 and the finish win was enough to put him into the top spot above Sergej Tkach albeit after one fight more. He next faces a similar fight to the one he lost as he faces FinnFighters Urho Viikate. Tzeng should be the favourite however as Viikate hasn’t been in the best of form though Tzeng was a heavy favourite before and he ended up losing a close judges decision. A result to keep an eye on for sure.

(Evil Empire) Evil Empire vs. Chrollo Lucifer (Cromulent Doom)

(Empire def. Lucifer by KO (Superman Punch) at 00:31, Rd 1)

A much needed finish win for both Evil Empire and his alliance Evil Empire as he made quick work of tricky customer Chrollo Lucifer. The Cromulent Doom fighter sent out the first jab but missed and from there it took only a few shots to the head followed up with a ferocious combo to end the fight in just over thirty seconds.

Evil Empire now goes 1-1 in the tournament following his first round loss to Shu Fang Tzeng and his win here was enough to catapult him out of the bottom spot all the way up to 3rd. Joint with Markus Haland on 2 points, Empire is ahead by virtue of a quicker finishing time in his win.

A tough loss to take for Chrollo Lucifer who was unable to capitalise on his huge win over group favourite Shu Fang Tzeng in the last round. This was easily Lucifer’s worst result so far and his alliance will be hoping this isn’t a sign of things to come. He get’s a little breathing space going into round four as he takes a break during his bye

155lbs Division

1 (2) (TSD) Chubby Funster (2-0, Fin Win 2 = Points 6)

2 (4) (YAB) Maximus Furioto (2-1, Fin Win 2, Fin Loss 1 = Points 5)

3 (1) (FF) Digi Box (2-1, Fin Win 1, Dec Win 1, Fin Loss 1 = Points 4)

4 (3) (GBU) Stig Statham (1-1, Fin Win 1, Fin Loss 1 = Points 2)

5 (6) (CD) Walter Sobchak (1-2, Fin Win 1, Dec Loss 1, Fin Loss 1 = Points 2)

6 (5) (EE) Garth Wader (1-2, Dec Win 1, Fin Loss 2 = Points 0)

7 (7) (Her) so Bitch (0-2, Fin Loss 2 = Points -2)

(FinnFighters) Digi Box vs. Chubby Funster (The Stepdads)

(Funster def. Box by Submission (Arm Triangle) at 02:49, Rd 1)

The result between FinnFighters team captain Digi Box and The Stepdads Chubby Funster was touted as being pivitol to the 155lbs Division title race and so it will no doubt come as a crushing blow to Digi Box to lose in such fashion and so quickly.

Box looked good from the outside as was to be expected, but things soon changed once Funster moved into the clinch. In what was perhaps a key error of judgement for the FinnFighters man, Box pulled guard bringing the superior grappler Funster down on top of him. If it was confidence in his BJJ purple belt that prompted the move, it was misplaced as Funsters proficient wrestling and brown belt level BJJ soon carved it’s way through Box’s guard and into a comfortable half guard where he was able to secure an Arm Triangle close to three minutes in. A gutsy attempt by Box but one that will no doubt leave him wondering what would have happened if he had kept on his feet instead.

A superb result for Chubby Funster who maintains his undefeated record at 2-0 and now moves ahead of Box to the top of the table with a perfect six out of six points. Though the division is still close at the top, Funster does have a fight in hand over both the second and third placed fighters. With this in mind, Funster is definitely beginning to look like the right pick to take the 155lbs division overall. Next fight for Funster will be against Evil Empire team captain Garth Wader who hasn’t been in the best of form and will likely be a heavy underdog.

A big setback for the FinnFighter captain and one that just might haunt him come the end. The loss drops him from first place down into third and leaves him little room for further bad results. His next bout will be agaisnt 0-2 Heritage fighter so Bitch who was rested during this third round. Possibly a good fight to rebound with and a must win if he is to keep his title hopes alive.

(Evil Empire) Garth Wader vs. Maximus Furioto (YABAI)

(Furioto def. Wader by Submission (Kimura) at 02:59, Rd 1)

An important result for YABAI’s Maximus Furioto with a submission win over Evil Empire team captain Garth Wader.

Wader looked assured in the clinch early on but after getting caught napping by a double leg from Furioto, he was no match for the Brown Belt and shortly afterwards found himself tapping from a bone snapping Kimura.

Furioto seriously needed this result to keep up with the top of the pack after losing to Digi Box in the last round as did his alliance who have not been fairing as well as they were expected to at the start of the tournament. The win was enough to move back up to second place and only one point behind league leader Chubby Funster. However, Furioto is a fight ahead and will need Funster to slip up at some point if he is to overtake. His next opponent will be 1-1 Stig Statham of The GBU who has some solid grappling credentials as well as a slight advantage on the feet. Statham could prove to be a tricky opponent and Furioto would be foolish to overlook him

Garth Wader now goes 1-2 in the tournament and with this second finish loss is put back down to 0 points and a disappointing sixth place in the table. With first place practically out of reach, Wader will need to somehow keep motivated and try to rack up points for his struggling alliance. Things aren’t likely to get better however as he next faces first place 2-0 Chubby Funster of The Stepdads. Wader has struggled against the submission fighters of the tournament and that’s exactly what Funster is.

(The GBU) Stig Statham vs. Walter Sobchak (Cromulent Doom)

(Sobchak def. Statham by KO (Punch) at 01:07, Rd 1)

Cromulent Doom’s Walter Sobchak managed to halt a two fight skid with a well timed victory over The GBU’s Stig Statham.

It was yet another quick fight in this third round of the tournament and Sobchak obviously meant business. Coming out aggressive from the start, it was his pin point accuracy that really sealed the deal as he scored several shots to the head and body of Statham and put him away without opposition in just over one minute of the first round.

It was Statham’s first loss of the tournament after a solid win previously and the result would have no doubt stung especially considering that Sobchak had been in poor form. Still, not the end of the world for Statham who still has five fights left to go and currently sits in fourth spot after dropping down from 3rd. He will next face third place YABAI man Maximus Furioto and whilst a tough fight on paper, Statham actually matches up quite well with him and could be in with a chance of an upset.

For Walter Sobchak, it was his first win after two losses in a row and no doubt his alliance are thrilled with the result over the rival alliance of The GBU. The win moves Sobchak up from sixth into fifth and firmly away from the bottom of the table. He now receives a bye in the fourth round.

170lbs Division

1 (3) (TSD) Yaurod Atidibil (3-0, Fin Win 1, Dec Win 2 = Points 7)

2 (1) (YAB) Diego Diaz (2-1, Fin Win 2, Dec Loss 1 = Points 6)

3 (2) (EE) Willy Do (2-0, Fin Win 1, Dec Win 1 = Points 5)

4 (4) (FF) Jesse Ristinen (1-1, Fin Win 1, Dec Loss 1 = Points 3)

5 (5) (CD) Floki Agard (1-1, Dec Win 1, Fin Loss 1 = Points 1)

6 (6) (Her) Kybeau Ren (0-3, Dec Loss 2, Fin Loss 1 = Points -1)

7 (7) (GBU) Quannah Parker (0-3, Fin Loss 3 = Points -3)

(YABAI) Diego Diaz vs. Floki Agard (Cromulent Doom)

(Agard def. Diaz by Unanimous Decision)

A massive result for Cromulent Doom’s Floki Agard as he defeated the might of YABAI’s Diego Diaz with what seemed to be a perfectly executed game plan.

Going in against a superior grappling, Agard showed the utmost confidence in his own wrestling ability by taking the initiative and scoring a number of take downs throughout the fight. Diaz was absolutely relentless working off of his back and might feel slightly aggrieved that his aggressive submission hunting didn’t count for more. Overall though it seemed as though Agard had things well under control with his take down and stand back up tactic and even managed to land a solid combination in round two that cut Diaz open.

With the loss Diaz concedes the top spot in the 170lbs division and drops down to second though he suffers no point deduction with a decision loss. He will now face undefeated Willy Do of Evil Empire which will be a pure grappler versus striker affair.

A great victory for both Floki Agard and his alliance Cromulent Doom and a promising performance going into his next fight which will be against The Stepdads 3-0 Yaurod Atidibil. An incredibly tough fight but one that might garner a few more eyeballs of a tactical display like he put on here.

(The Stepdads) Yaurod Atidibil vs. Kybeau Ren (Heritage)

(Atidibil def. Ren by Unanimous Decision)

No real surprises in this one as The Stepdads Yaurod Atidibil put Heritage’s Kybeau Ren through the meat grinder for three rounds.

Ren was game however and hung on in there despite getting absolutely worked over inside of the clinch and even managed to get some shots in of his own but, they were few and far between and Atidibil’s incredible work rate left no question as to the winner at the end of the fight.

Now 3-0, Yaurod Atidibil moves up from third into first as the 170lbs division is really started to catch fire. It’s getting extremely competitive at the top with only one point separating him from his closest rival and he is two points clear of third place Willy Do but after having had one extra fight. He will next face Cromulent Doom’s Floki Agard who is coming in off of a superb win over Diego Diaz but once more, Atidibil will be the heavy favourite to pick up the win.

For Kybeau Ren he drops to a dismal 0-3 in the tournament though unbelievably manages to avoid bottom place. Still, if his form carries on like this it won’t be something he can avoid for long and so he really must find a win from somewhere and soon. He next meets FinnFighters fourth place Jesse Ristinen who with a record of 1-1 could leave him in with a shot.

(FinnFighters) Jesse Ristinen vs. Quanah Parker (The GBU)

(Ristinen def. Parker by Submission (Armbar) at 00:31, Rd 1)

FinnFighters Jesse Ristinen heaps on more misery for Team GBU and it’s captain Quanah Parker after dispatching of him in just over thirty seconds of round one.

Parker has really struggled so far in this tournament but there must have been some hope of a decent result going against a very similar fighter to himself. After securing a quick take down, Parker didn’t even have time to blink before the Finnish fighter had snatched up an arm and started cranking on it. Thirty-one seconds into the first round and another loss for Parker.

Quanah Parker now finds himself more or less eliminated from division title contention and instead it is going to take a big effort just to extract himself from the bottom spot. With three finish losses he current stands at minus three points and some two points from his closest rival. Still, it isn’t truly expected that he will remain there and going into round four with a bye, he will have a decent amount of time to improve in key areas.

As for Ristinen, he remains in fourth place but picks up his first win of the tournament and three big points get put on the board for his alliance. Ristinen was always expected to be fighting for a medal and with five fights left to go for him there’s no reason at all to think he couldn’t do it. He’ll next face a struggling Kybeau Ren from Heritage and he’ll likely be the big favourite going into that.

205lbs Division

1 (2) (Her) Furious Panda (3-0, Fin Win 2, Dec Win 1 = Points 8)

2 (3) (FF) Kake Randelin (2-0, Fin Win 2 = Points 6)

3 (1) (TSD) Hamza Demirovic (2-0, Fin Win 1, Dec Win 1 = Points 5)

4 (4) (GBU) Zane Alexander (2-1, Fin Win 2, Dec Loss 1 = Points 5)

5 (5) (EE) Finn Vernon (0-2, Fin Loss 2 = Points -2)

6 (6) (CD) Yadeep Singh (0-3, Dec Loss 1, Fin Loss 2 = Points -2) *Time +12:22

7 (7) (YAB) Gerhard Smakatron (0-3, Dec Loss 1, Fin Loss 2 = Points -2) *Time +10:53

(Heritage) Furious Panda vs. Finn Vernon (Evil Empire)

(Panda def. Vernon by TKO (Strikes) at 02:59, Rd 1)

Once again Heritage’s surprise package Furious Panda made it look easy when he demolished Evil Empire’s Finn Vernon inside of three minutes.

Giving Vernon not even a few seconds to settle into the fight, Panda took down his opponent practically from the opening bell and proceeded to gobble him up with viscous ground and pound until the referee mercifully stopped the bout at two minutes and fifty-nine seconds of the first round.

This was Vernon’s second loss in a row putting him at 0-2 in the tournament whilst maintaining 5th place in the table. Thankfully for Vernon, there are others in his weight class that are currently fairing worse then he and with a good result in his next fight he could be well clear of a last place spot. Unfortunately however his next opponent is The GBU’s Zane Alexander who has seemingly come into form and will pose many of the exact same problems that Vernon just faced with Panda. Unless he can learn quickly from his mistakes here it could be a similar result.

And for Panda, after being predicted a 6th place finish at the start of the tournament, finding him leading the group table is quite a feat indeed and definitely a surprise that will no doubt delight his alliance team mates. He too faces a very tough opponent next though when he takes on The Stepdads Hamza Demirovic who is currently undefeated at 2-0 and a finish loss would see him guaranteed to lose his top spot.

(The GBU) Zane Alexander vs. Yadeep Singh (Cromulent Doom)

(Alexander def. Singh by TKO (Strikes) at 03:25, Rd 1)

Cromulent Doom’s team captain Yadeep Singh slumped to his third loss in a row and very much out of contention for first place when he lost by TKO to GBU’s Zane Alexander.

It almost looked as though Singh would make a fight of it after escaping Alexander’s early take down and getting straight back to his feet. It wasn’t to be however and Alexander quickly and effortlessly chained together another quick take down after the scramble and this time made sure his prey had nowhere to run. After dozens of stinging shots from top position the referee thankfully stopped the bout

After a poor start to Alexander’s tournament, he seems to have come back with a vengeance and is now riding a two fight win streak, both coming via TKO in the first round. No movement for him in the table as he maintains his fourth place spot but he does manage to keep well within range of the coveted top spot. He will next face Evil Empire’s Finn Vernon who is still searching for his first tournament win

For Yadeep Singh, he is almost certainly out of contention for a first place spot although I don’t think he is completely out mathematically speaking. He next faces second place 2-0 FinnFighters man Kake Randelin and while he will be a massive underdog going in, he at least will be facing another striker with the potential to make a good showing for himself and his alliance.

(FinnFighters) Kake Randelin vs. Gerhard Smakatron (YABAI)

(Randelin def. Smakatron by TKO (Strikes) at 00:57, Rd 2)

There was blood and guts aplenty in this one as both fighters went toe to toe with each other but once again it was YABAI team captain Gerhard Smakatron who was left starring at the ceiling as he suffered his third loss in a row, this time to FinnFighters Kake Randelin.

Smakatron looked good in the first round and was most likely ahead on the judges scorecards. Both fighters were throwing hard and both left little souvenirs etched on the faces of the other but overall it was Smakatron’s kicking ability that put him ahead. Round two started similarly but just as people were starting to think Smakatron had found his groove, Randelin clocked him with a huge combination of punches that dropped him and from there he never really recovered. Moving in to the clinch, Randelin showed no mercy and managed to finish the job just before the minute mark of round two.

With the 205lbs division shaping up to be one of the most competitive, this win was huge for Kake Randelin especially considering it was over one of the favourites to take the group overall. Randelin moves up from third into second now and only two points behind leader Furious Panda and with a fight in hand. He now faces struggling Cromulent Doom captain Yadeep Singh and will definitely be the heavy favourite. However, Signh is one of the better strikers in the tournament, on paper at least, meaning that this could possibly end up being far messier than Randelin would like.

265lbs Division

1 (1) (TSD) Bubba Wallace (3-0, Fin Win 3 = Points 9) *Time -09:36

2 (2) (FF) Markku Innanen (3-0, Fin Win 3 = Points 9) *Time -10:27

3 (4) (CD) Anton Gardner (1-1, Fin Win 1, Fin Loss 1 = Points 2) *Time -00:09

4 (3) (GBU) Daffy Duck (1-1, Fin Win 1, Fin Loss 1 = Points 2) *Time -03:55

5 (7) (EE) Dick Glover (1-2, Fin Win 1, Fin Loss 2 = Points 1) *Time +07:26

6 (5) (Her) Gwart Bartem (0-2, Fin Loss 2 = Points -2)

7 (6) (YAB) Francisco Baroza (0-3, Fin Loss 3 = Points -3) *Time +09:37

(Evil Empire) Dick Glover vs. Gwart Bartem (Heritage)

(Glover def. Bartem by KO (Punch) at 00:14, Rd 1)

It took only fourteen seconds for Evil Empire’s Dick Glover to pick up the first win of his tournament campaign when he defeated Heritage’s Gwart Bartem by KO.

For once Glover did something right and managed to stay on his feet against submission wrestler Bartem and quickly opened up a cut on the face of his opponent with a sharp jab. Bartem attempted to get the fight to the floor but without success and a left, right combo after that was all it took to end the fight.

Bartem’s training has been going well in the gym but so far it hasn’t translated to the cage and he now finds him 0-2 and in sixth place. Predicted to finish last at the start of this tournament, Bartem will really need to pick up a win from somewhere if he is to avoid that fate and his next fight will very much decide that there and then. Facing off against YABAI’s under performing Francisco Baroza, a win would give set him a good distance from the last spot whilst any loss at all would see him drop down to last. A tough fight regardless of Baroza’s form, Bartem will need this fight on the floor and will have to have learned from his fight here tonight.

The winner Dick Glover now moves from last up into fifth and whilst is some distance behind the top two of the group, his victory here tonight puts him amongst the mid table and those currently chasing third place. He faces Cromulent Doom’s 3rd place Anton Gardner next in what looks to be a something of a mirror match.

(YABAI) Francisco Baroza vs. Bubba Wallace (The Stepdads)

(Wallace def. Baroza by KO (Punch) at 04:31, Rd 1)

The Stepdad’s Bubba Wallace kept his perfect record intact after a demolition job on YABAI’s Francisco Baroza.

Keeping the fight mainly in the clinch, Wallace was able to overpower Baroza and ended up tenderising his ribs and skull for close to five minutes before finally knocking the Ecudoran fighter down and out.

Baroza has been most disappointing thus far though he isn’t the only YABAI member guilty of under performing right now. However, this was a big fight between two rival alliances and the loss will have been felt not just by himself. Now in last place far from his predicted second, Baroza will at least have a chance to climb out from that extremely undesired spot when he takes on fellow straggler, Heritage’s Gwart Bartem. A win of any kind would be enough but a loss could very easily be the nail in the coffin for a respectable place in the group table.

Another dominant performance from Bubba Wallace who manages to keep his first place spot though being tied on points with FinnFighters Markku Innanen. Wallace is separated by virtue of less time to get his wins and going into round four of the tournament, this looks like it is going to be a very interesting second half between the two fighters. He faces The GBU’s Daffy Duck who is currently 1-1 and could prove a tricky customer for Wallace as he too is dangerous in the clinch. That will definitely be a fight to keep an eye on.

(The GBU) Daffy Duck vs. Markku Innanen (FinnFighters)

(Innanen def. Daffy Duck by KO (Punch) at 00:51, Rd 1)

The GBU’s Daffy Duck had his dangerous “elbow’s in the clinch” game completely shut down by FinnFighters Markky Innanen who was able to get the KO victory in just under a minute and continue to put pressure on his group rival Bubba Wallace.

Duck tried relentless to land one of his razor sharp elbows in the clinch but was rendered impotent by the stronger Finnish fighter who was able to land at will himself with dirty boxing and who opened a nasty cut on Duck that threatned to get worse before the knockout fifty-one seconds into the first round.

With the win, Innanen keeps pace with group leader Wallace and is separated only by time spent in the cage. With four fights left, it’s going to be incredibly tense as both fighters wait for the other to slip up. Wallace will next face Duck whilst Innanen will take a bye week and there is a chance that the FinnFighter will could overtake without even stepping foot in the cage.

Fourth Round Predictions

Just a little extra to add to the next round. I've picked one important fight from each weight and listed them below. Anyone who can predict the winners of all five matches will get 100k sent to their manager account. This is open to everybody, not just those competing. Depending on how popular and how badly I get fleeced I will consider doing it for each round from here.

135lbs

(The Stepdads) Markus Haland vs. Shu Feng Tzeng (YABAI)

Tzeng needs a win to keep the pressure on Sergej Tkach whilst Haland could potentially catch up with Tzeng should he get a finsh.

155lbs

(YABAI) Maximus Furioto vs. Stig Statham (The GBU)

Second place Furioto is chasing 2-0 Chubby Funster so needs a win to keep up. Statham could move amongst the top three with a good result

170lbs

(YABAI) Diego Diaz vs. Willy Do (Evil Empire)

Diaz in second place. Do in third. Both fighters chasing undefeated 3-0 Yaurod Atidibil. Huge fight in the 170lbs division.

205lbs

(The Stepdads) Hamza Demirovic vs. Furious Panda (Heritage)

Somebody's "0" has got to go! 3-0 Panda in first, 2-0 Demirovic in third. Panda two points clear of next rival but could fall hard with a finish loss here with Demiroic potentially leapfrogging him if that was to happen

265lbs

(Heritage) Gwart Bartam vs. (YABAI) Francisco Baroza

The battle for bottom. Bartam 0-2 in sixth place with -2 points. Baroza very poor so far. 0-3 and last with -3. The loser is guarenteed to end up in last place after this fight

Quick Update

Round 5 will take place in three weeks on 12th April 2020 due to 16 day cuts

OVERALL STANDINGS (End of Round 4)

1 (1) The Stepdads (15-2, Fin Win 12, Dec Win 3, Fin Loss 2 = Points 40)

2 (2) FinnFighters (12-5, Fin Win 10, Dec Win 2, Dec Loss 1, Fin Loss 4 = Points 30)

3 (3) Yabai (9-10, Fin Win 9, Dec Loss 3, Fin Loss 7 = Points 20)

4 (5) Heritage (7-10, Fin Win 5, Dec Win 2, Dec Loss 2, Fin Loss 8 = Points 11)

5 (4) The GBU (6-11, Fin Win 6, Dec Loss 3, Fin Loss 8 = Points 10)

6 (6) Evil Empire (7-10, Fin Win 4, Dec Win 3, Fin Loss 10 = Points 8)

7 (7) Cromulent Doom (4-12, Fin Win 2, Dec Win 2, Dec Loss 4, Fin Loss 8 = Points 2)

The Stepdads keep putting out consistently good team performances and this is really starting to show in the Overall Standings. Now 10 points clear of the closest rivals FinnFighters and with only three more rounds to go, it's going to take something special to derail their momentum. The Stepdads managed to go 4-1 this time round

No change for the FinnFighters who remain in second place with a solid 3-1 round.

Much better for YABAI who managed to overturn some poor showings in early rounds. 3-1 overall this time and maintain their third place position.

The only change in the table this time around was for Heritage who managed to move up into fourth position. Surprising considering a mediocre 3-2 round but a couple of big results among them should give them something to brag about for a while.

The GBU fall down one spot into fifth after a poor 1-3 round.

Also another middling performance for Evil Empire who managed to go 2-3.

And possibly their worst performance so far, Cromulent Doom were winless during this round after going 0-3. This was good enough to keep them firmly in last place.

After this round, it kind of looks clear how things are going to turn out but I feel like I should mention that with each round being worth a potential 15 points for a perfect 5-0 (all by finish) and -5 points for a terrible 0-5 round (all by finish again) the table could change very quickly indeed.
