This is the official voting thread for Submission of the year 2022.

 

 

 

This award is for the submission that was the best/most impactful over the course of the year. 

 

 

 

One vote per player, All voters must have a game account attached to their forum account. account must have been created before December 2022.

I do think anyone but Myers winning is kinda silly. First career sub over the greatest grappler in syn history in one attempt in round one. That's legit the best sub no question.

I personally think the fact that he has the most submissions in syn championship matches makes it fair for me to say that. But I respect your opinion on it and can very well see why you would say he is.

He lost like 4 times in two years in Syn. I think Pawlick lost that many times in two months. I mean if we go by sub wins then Che Satomi is the greatest grappler in Syn history. The difference is Rocker just had a shit ton more success with it. He was in the conversation of greatest Syn fighter ever until Kilo went on his path of destruction - for a grappler to get that sort of distinction makes him the greatest grappler Syn has ever seen.

Well I didn't just say subs generally, I specifically said title fights to show it was against a high level of comp.

 

I feel Ricky Is the better overall fighter but Dick is the greatest pure grappler. Two weight champ, 11 submission in title fights including beating the Pulse champion to unify, the Combate champion/Olympic gold medalist, and moving up to sub #2 p4p Syn WW champion Angus (Angus himself just beat GAMMA champ, SFL champ, Olympic gold medalist and was the undisputed best 170 in the game)

 

But again this is all just my opinion and you most certainly are not wrong in yours

We can delve into Rockers achievements. Welterweight of the year twice. Defeated the Evo, GAMMA and Troid WW champions including the second greatest welterweight of all time in Stormcrow. Defeated the 2016 fighter of the year and 2016 Olympic Gold Medalist and to add insult to injury went down a weight in his last fight of his career to take the belt from him - tapped him in both fights. 

There is no such thing as a pure grappler outside of the Island and even then eventually they need to learn stand up. Really good grapplers in this game are difficult enough to come by rather than then putting them in categories of 'pure' grappler - Pawlik is Elite and Sens in striking where as Rocker was Sens and Wonderful.

You mistook what I mean by pure grappler and also I wasn't listing off accomplishments, just listing off the high level of comp he subbed.

 

When I say pure grappler I more so mean Submission artist.  Rocker was much more Smesh which to me isn't pure grappling. 

 

Dick has more subs at the highest level of competition against very proven foes. That's basically all I'm saying. And when it comes to purely grappling (submitting dudes) Dick Pawlik is the best to ever do it in the syn cage in my opinion.

 

Rocker was the better fight with a better career I would never argue that. But to me GNP isn't pure grappling. Subs are. And Dick was better at that.

I don't care either way, but its not for the best grappler or best submission artist, its for the best submission win of the year. So I think a known striker going in with a gameplan that would have shocked 100% of the MMAtycoon player base, as well as beaten them, should have a good shot to win this award. Im not going to vote because noone should be voting for themselves and or their interests like I see in every post (my opinion of course), but I will defend why Assndrop is here and I believe rightfully so.

not just any submission specialist, THE submission specialist. A red belt that submitted him a couple fights prior.

Submission specialist? Yeah sure Pawlik is very much like Womba in that regard. Different people use the ground game in different ways. Kelly believes in the art of letting it roll with the submissions - if they land then great if they don't then its trouble. Rocker had a more balanced game plan Pablo had Saint if I remember correctly also who was more of a roll the dice sort of fighter on subs. He now has Road who is very much like Rocker and might surpass him. I look at it more this way - Kelly is like Aoki, Maia or Palhares. Guys like Rocker are more Khabib, Islam or GSP. All of them are elite grapplers but they have their different styles of doing it.  

I voted for the Assndrop sub because it was against me and I didn't expect it. When it did happen I nearly threw my phone further than I drove the golf ball. Both imo are worthy additions to the sub of the year category.

By no means am I saying my guy should win, I'm just pointing out why it shouldn't be looked at only that other one should win and everything else is Dynasty related. Both were surprises, and mine was for a title which added some intrigue, not sure about the other 2 nominees as I haven't looked them up.
