    • Want me to cancel mine? Mine's set for KT rules instead of MMA.
    • Confirmed. Open testing event booked for June 8th, for those in need.    TLH 2025 - Testing Event
    • I've booked myself a test event. Others are more than welcome to participate too. https://mmatycoon.com/orgupcomingeventpublic.php?EvID=991555 Send me an ingame message with the IDs and I'll test 'em. Unfortunately set for the 8th but better than nothing.
    • I've had a drink. As unpopular as it might make me, I'm gonna come right out with what I think.  Mike made this. The thing we all love. In some aspects of the game, I can see how he simply applied existing game design ideas from other sports sim games (CM comes to mind) and turned them to MMA. And he did a fucking excellent job. The only reason we are still passionately playing, more than a quarter of a century - Or a third of a lifetime later - is because of this.  But there's more. I really don't know if Mike invented the way hiddens work - that hierarchy scheme, but if he did, it is pure genius. I've never seen anything similar.  Even from pro studios, it's hard to think of many other sports game so realistic, detailed and coherent. The attention to detail in the fight sim is amazing. The fact that you can set sliders according to common sense, or not, and you get the results you deserve speaks volumes. Another big part of this game is the player interaction. User created companies, etc. I don't know how many of you have thought about it, but that was a generous gift of power to us, the players, from the very beginning. The opportunities are there for us to make the game whatever we want it to be. How many games give you the freedom to create some new creative business spin on org management, or team up to share a gym, etc, etc? Which reminds me.. Freedom. We can pretty much name our fighter or companies anything here. It allows us freedom to express ourselves with no judgement. It allows us to parody real figures, be xxxxxx, xxxxxxxxx, xxxxxx, and all that if we want. I'm not saying that's good, and I don't do it, but it is free enough here that you can. So many times, those of us that understand irony and parody, need that freedom for humour and comment. If you don't understand, and you want to call your fighter Ben Dover, or worse, go ahead, you can do that here too. No automated bot here to tell you "that is potentially offensive - Try a different name". Ongoing, Mike has made improvements. Added escapes, transitions, new sliders, The Island, and so forth. It used to be that people said "Nice one Mike" and got on with the game. Now it is just toxic. Completely unfashionable to give him any credit. So much so that I expect I will get hated on for this post, What does Tycoon offer? For me, it is all about number-crunching and stats, How do I get a 5% advantage here? And the art of setting good sliders. We're all a bit like that I guess. But then there are creative people who like to make avatars, posters, etc. There are even people who don't care about fighting and play it as a business game, trying to be the richest. It's what you make it. Frankly, I think too many people now (and I started in 2010, took a break for 2 years, and came back this year to notice a BIG difference) are playing Tycoon to see just who can complain about Mike the most. The only thing Mike overlooked was the bronze, silver and gold Bitch trophies on the player profiles. I'm not sure who gets gold, but there are certainly a whole bunch of contenders. Somewhere in chat/DC/forums I saw someone saying Mike responded to something from MMAT forum and therefore Mike is "lurking" in MMAT chat. Lurking? It's the official chat for a game he owns for Jon Jones' sake! That's such a great example of how he can't win. He's either "completely absent, and not interested in the game", or he's a "lurker", creepily watching our opinions in the sever he started! Mike is not greedy. All the evidence shows that he's always been more interested in making a great game than squeezing more profit. When did VIP price last go up? Right, never. I believe this is one of the reasons he takes all the hostility so badly. He enjoyed doing this for the same reasons we play, chat, banter and a great community. I believe that meant as much to him as the income. This is something I've always said.. If Mike sold this, it's going to be to someone more business-minded and profit driven, I mean, who isn't? That means they will "improve" the game with animations and flashy bullshit. Optimise it for phones and neglect PC users. They will seek more players by simplifying and dumbing-down the game to something NO ONE here now wants to play. And they will find ways to charge you more money. it will become play-to-win. Loot box anyone? The game needs a reset, but not the kind of reset some are asking for. It needs a PLAYER ATTITUDE reset. Meanwhile, Mike just needs to follow the advice he gave Vlad. Small improvements. One at a time. Greater improvements when possible. Don't engage. Don't ask permission. This is YOUR game Mike!
    • I've bitched and moaned my fair share and I've cracked jokes at others expense, including Mike but it's from a place of love and frustration. I think the majority of complaints are in the same vein though obviously some people are clearly on the spectrum and go too far. As someone pointed out earlier, you get this in all games. The big AAA games have thousands bitching at the dev team. For MMATycoon it's dozens bitching at one. I totally see how that could take it's toll.  Saying that, if this site really nets 12k per year I would definitely reconsider selling up. Especially when the solution is right there. If it's the community that is bothering you then get a community manager and pay them in VIP. You could get someone who has a super thick skin and is impossible to insult (no matter how hard you try). Like Stacks. A meat shield for the toxic vitriol of a hundred autists! Mike, you've created something good which no one else has really been able/willing to replicate in over 15 years. There is nothing really comparable outside of it. The game has a small but loyal fanbase that is clearly still willing to spend money on it. Definitely something to be proud of.
