So yeah it has been a while since I have had the motivation to do the TWW. Thankfully they have been a few things to report on tycoon wise since I last wrote the Olympics review.

Olympics Rant

Speaking of the Olympics it has been a very moderate success in my opinion. Now don’t get me wrong if you have been following it as I have then you would be saying a moderate success my arse; it has been legendary! That I feel is the problem no one has really been following it or putting in their two cents about it. I could blame it on most of the managers not doing any smack talk or shit like that but then again hardly anyone does Stu being one of the exceptions who got knocked out sadly.

So what is to blame for the lack of interest in the Olympics? They have been a distinct lack of write ups for a start. Comte has put some effort into it but for the most part I have been disappointed with the lack of write ups. That still isn’t the major problem with the Olympics though, if you go check the thread you might notice what the problem with the Olympics is; Mentor.

I am pretty sure the only reason people visit the Olympics thread is to batter Mentor with a negative 1 on his posts. It is saddening because he has put what was a great tournament into disrepute with his shenanigans. The rules that he put in place, yes those rules a majority are all written by Mentor. Megajug just agreed to them like a nodding Churchill dog so he would agree to participate in the Olympics.

I mean the scoring system is overly complex for what should be a relatively simple calculation method. I eventually gave up caring about the totals because in the end it was conjured up by an idiot. Mentor calling out of Syn by saying that they were sending less than stellar fighters to the Olympics and pushing them to the verge of pulling the plug. Despite this though it appears Syn will win the full thing kudos Dark Soul and the guys from Syn.

This is without mentioning the whole Multi-gate scandal that came out after it and his feeble attempt at an apology. The fact that his day job is being a scam artist and trying to recruit Humors to send emails out for him about his fantastic product. I am pretty shocked that he has been allowed to remain in the game after all of that publically came out. The thing I am most disappointed in was the fact he ruined what would have been a great tournament.

Anyone that wants to go check out the Olympics I would advise you to go have a look through the fights. I mean they have been some epic fights such as Rinky vs Proudstar which could go down as fight of the year and some huge upsets also. So just as a final plea to Mike, get rid of that piece of shit from the game. As long as he is in the game it just feels kind of dirty to play a game with a guy who does what he does.

I wrote this a few days ago and I am just getting to finish it but I also got wind of something else that Mentor didn’t want bronze medal fights due to him wanting one of his fighters back. I could only sit and shake my head when I was told about this. I just feel sorry for all the other org owners who have been disrupted by Mentor and his antics.

Random News

Rant over with now on to some more entertaining news. Chris Karter eventually harpooned his white whale after defeating Womba. Karter was not found until recently after going out on a party and is campaigning for the date to be called Pissed on Womba day. Sadly this has been rejected by the powers to be as they said Womba would be a due a week of pissed on Karter if that was the case.

ITFL season 3 has now started its sign ups. For those who know nothing about the tournament feel free to check out the thread http://www.mmatycoon.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=44188 . It’s a team tournament ran by Shortfuse and JLP which has completed two seasons so far. This time they are going with the ID restriction again of between 200k and 220k depending on what the vote is for I think. So go grab a couple of buddies and make a team.

Mike introduced a new manager ranking system for those who haven’t noticed or seen it yet. It is still going through its early cycle so not much will be noticed I think until August. Should be interesting to see who is at the top after it cycles through or if it will still be the fight in ID orgs and you will become #1 that it has been for the past while now.

Team Conquer are planning a monthly write up for trash talk, stories and jokes. This gets a piece on here as finally some more people are doing something worthwhile and adding a little bit of fun back into the game. Too many people complain about it not being entertaining yet don’t lift a finger to make it entertaining. Good luck to the boys from Team Conquer on it.

I am hoping that Megajug does something exciting for Evo 100 which is due to come up soon. Evo has pretty much taken the #1 spot since it came on the scene with Empire merging into IMMA. After his previous few events I think he will have to pull out all the stops to try and outdo his last big event. Either way pressure is now on Megajug to make this event legendary.

WILL FIND A NAME FOR THIS SEGMENT AT SOME POINT ANYONE WITH ANY DECENT SUGGESTIONS LEAVE THEM BELOW

This write up has taken me longer than it prolly should have as I have been very lazy but I think something that the TWW has been lacking is in tips to help new users and even vets to help them up their game. When I look at the advice I have been given over the years by guys like Lance Templeton and Shortfuse in the fighting aspects, Skinny Vince and Gable helping me with the org business side of things. I feel like it is about time I put some effort into helping others who might be too shy or too proud to ask for help. So today I am going to go over the art of building a fighter.

The first step in creating a decent fighter is to know what the correct size to make your fighter is. Most people know that making a fighter who is 225cm tall and 135 pounds isn’t going to work. The difference in what makes a good fighter a great fighter often at times can be the height and the slightest of changes. I’ll take the smaller weight classes first, so what I first do when creating a lighter fighter is decide which route I am going to take. If I want my guy to be a striking machine I’d personally go for 170-174cm for a featherweight you can go to 176 or so for a lightweight but I wouldn’t go much higher. 167 is about as tall as I would make a bantamweight. If I want a well-rounded fighter I would go for 168-172 for height at featherweight and give or take a few cm for BW and LW. Grapplers I tend to find are good if they aren’t too small but aren’t too tall so I would go for 163-166 for a featherweight and yet again go up and down a few cm for other weight classes.

Next up is the way you want to line up your skills. Previously I would tell you do NOT put any points into the clinch. The reasoning behind that is that the clinch affects 3 of your primaries. Now that the training change has happened though I would suggest that you for sure put it to wonderful. The reason behind that is that when you train the clinch it also trains your knees and elbows and from useless to sensational you will end up with woeful knees and elbows which takes away 60 skill points which is huge at the top level of the game. Until Mike changes that we can choose which skills fighters forget when training then that will always be the case. Mike has shown an unwillingness to do so which sucks because in a game which relies heavy on randomness, it could be a way to show some true skill and be able to create the fighter the way you want it.

So yes wonderful clinch and I’d do wonderful kicks and it depends on which build you are doing for the last one. I would say that wonderful takedowns if you are building a grappler or wonderful takedown defence if you are building a striker. If you are going well rounded I’d put it in wonderful takedowns as you will need them at some point. Next up is primaries now if you are going for a grappler with or without subs I would always say go for wrestling. The major reason behind this is that DG, Transitions and I believe to some extent ground and pound help both wrestling and BJJ. BJJ is easier to get up quickly and its paramount as a wrestler in this game to have really high wrestling.

If you are building a striker it should go into MT. Same as with the ground game you have punches and striking defence which affects both boxing and mt and as a striker its essential that you have elite MT as kicks are the most overpowered weapon in the game. You also need kicks to defend kicks so yeah always have good MT in any build you do I would suggest at least high exp or sens.

When it comes to putting physicals on the fighters I have argued with a bunch of people over this but I put everything in conditioning and whatever is left over in strength. The reason I do this is because early training you want to get every drop you can out of training skills. I have very few fighters I have trained physicals first on that and sparring is usually the last thing I do to my fighters. Some people build them differently but this is my preferred style of training my fighters and its worked out not too shabby for me.

Now next up is when you fight your fighters. If you enjoy fighting then train your physicals up at 20 and start sparring; you can fill in the gaps as you go along in skills. If you go down that road good luck to you but I very rarely ever want to do that. The way I fight my fighters is I always like to have a tester fight first to see what hidden my fighter has. Granite chin is obviously the best you can get but a solid chin/KO power is never the worst thing to see. If your fighter gets intelligent or self-confident I throw them away they will never be a top fighter. People will say that yeah they have been this fighter and this but I can show you way more KO power/solid chin top tier fighters than those with unremarkable hiddens. I fight a couple of fights about 21/22 to get a decent handle on them before shutting them down again until 23/24 where I work on getting their specialist skills up after that you get a good 3 years out of them.

The last thing I am going to go through is learning speed. I throw away anything under 5 because of the time it takes to get their skills up. Anything over 5 with KO power and solid chin and above and you are in business to start training up a future champ. Hope this helps you guys a little bit if you enjoyed it then say and I will continue on next week. For TWW that is me for this week I’ll be back into a fortnightly rotation for the rest of the week.

I know how you feel about motivation to write stuff up at the moment and I agree completely on the Olympics. It has/had such fantastic potential, it's just a shame that to the average player it has been smeared with all the shit off the back of the Mentor crap.

MY biggest problem is it's almost impossible to follow it if you've tried to catch-up with it (I avoided it to begin with because of the Mentor rubbish in every thread around it). Theirs no obvious calculation of brackets and who is winning. yes more write-ups on the event would be nice but something on one big compiled post would be cool to see where the competitions at.

One last point - why is the scoring so damn complicated..... -_-

Edit: love the idea of the bottom section. I wanted to try do something like this on certain topics with CPA, like I did a bit of research and questioning on supplements but never got around to writing it all up.

Nice write up Dinooo - and I agree about the Olympics. I do blame myself for part of that. With Douglas being involved until the end, I could have tried to get interest by talking trash, but I'm too lazy. It's sad really. The P4P king and I'm too lazy to give him a voice.

I just shake my head in disgust...

Nice work Dean. Thanks for the ITFL shout-out. Was just looking at some of the amazing fighters that have come out of the first two seasons recently. Lots of future stars will end up coming out of these tournaments

Its why i like the ID tourneys, it lets me see who the future up and comers are. I would enter this year but every year i enter some sort of shit hits the fan so gonna take a rain check.

It is great to see this write up.

I will eventually have to develop a fighter creation approach, so I suppose this may be timely as well. I still fight with my two initial fighters and have only done one sacking (which was a free agent I picked up early).

Speaking of Team Conquer, they also have their twitter feed which could be an idea to get some rp in for those who are lazy. (However, for me, I am not motivated to do fake tweets when I have avoided twitter itself. lol.)

Great write up Dean and some really interesting stuff about fighter creation. I know I have to take a long hard look at my approach now but it's nice to see a top player helping out us noobs. Thanks for the help.

The thing is with the Olympics I'm on the same boat as you I've watched and read most fights if not all involved. Its been a great tourney and concept.

Downfall is the whole mentor thing threw the Olympics side wards. I lost interest. Due to getting married 3 weeks ago and glin on honeymoon so my bad on ASCENSIONS part of no peveiws or reviews.

The points system I still don't get. But I've spoken to every org involved and so far I've had 5 replies and there all in favour for bronze medals and points on that fight also.

my problem with the Olympics was how hard it was to follow. The thread had so many pages that I couldn't find brackets, dates, or really had any clue what was going on. I found stuff a few times but It was way to much work just to try and figure out how it all worked and who was fighting when. The first post should have been edited and kept up to date for easy reference and then I can read people bitching at each other for 35 pages if I want to.

Yea totally agree. I appoligise on my part but I was away for 3-4 weeks. On holybobs.

1 thing I.will say the next 1 will done to the utmost best it can be. We he all seen how exciting it can be so hopefully all orgs will participate and send there best fighters.

I was gutted I could nt enter Murdock for Ascension but Lance had already told gamma Kravinoff would enter ad it happens I entered Sinue Eygyptian and he beat kravinoff in semi final. But how good would it be to see Murdock vs Kosta on the final.

I just hope orgs can work together and put great fights events on for the public.

Yeah, blame me for the lack of interest. The truth is the Olympics thread had little interest to begin with and that was obvious if you pay attention to the fact that the topic was up 3-4 weeks before anything to do with me came up. The brackets were up there early as well.

I think the main problem was that it was unclear how it works (or the format). The brackets and fights were not individually promoted and it was one massive topic making it very difficult to follow. Many people did not understand the scoring as well and it was a bit messy.

Organizing 8 orgs and 64 fighters is not easy. Even getting orgs to agree to one thing is not easy because of the many parties being involved. Plus there were several obstacles such as the Cage wars inactivity, the last minute changes with the Syn booking of the first event, the GAMMA scenario etc. Considering it was the first time something of this scope ever took place it went pretty well.

It started off with people complaining about the rules about 1 week in. Then they were fears of orgs pulling out like the last Olympics that Jug tried to set up. Sisu, CEC and Syn then started to confirm those fears could be true. You post saying that Syn has officially pulled out of the Olympics which created a shit storm as Dark Soul clearly stated that he wasn't pulling the plug on the Olympics. You then got ousted for multis and the whole thing went to shit. This doesn't actually mention the fact you wanted to cancel ALL of the bronze matches so you could get a fighter back...

So the rules you created started it, you then started bending the rules to help out Sisu but when Syn asked you were saying rules are rules; essentially feeding two different loads of information because you dislike the fact Syn shat on GAMMA for years in Vegas. You falsely said that Syn were pulling out of the tourney which made Dark Soul then want to leave the tourney due to you lying and trying to make yourself look good. Then Louie exposed you on chat for using multi accounts which you at first tried to deny then tried to make out it wasn't a big deal then when Mike got involved you tried to deny again. You then got ousted as a con-man and that you were trying to recruit Humors to help you send out emails, Rage also confirmed this to be the case.

You seem to be under the impression that GAMMA will be involved in the next Olympics. I have it on good authority that GAMMA will not be invited to the next Olympics. Most of the top org owners are sick to death of dealing with you and your multiple personalities. Your only saving grace is that Mike appears to be doing nothing about you and hoping that it will be forgotten over time that you con people out of money for a job. It is about the only thing i give Castor a shred of respect about is the fact he continues to fight to get you removed from this game. It would be a hell of a lot more harmonious if you got banned for life from this game.
