  1. I am a total newbie to the game (two weeks or so since I started...but I'm a VIP so suck it). But in the very short time I've played this game, I have been AMAZED at the layer of detail, care and knowledge that have gone into the creation of this game. In addition, I continue to peel back layer after layer of potential new friends and foes on here, and am stunned at the depth in this online community. I couldn't find anything in this vein, so I figured I would just make this my official Mike Appreciation thread. Thanks, Mike for creating and maintaining such a fantastic game. Cheer, bro.

  3. This week I just searched with the parameter of max age 23 and did the top guy on the list. Name: Arthur Pinto Record: 14-0 Organization: scamma Strengths: Granite chin, power Weaknesses: punch only offense, mediocre competition Pinto began his career in a QFC tournament, which he won. He popped granite chin in his first fight. He then fought pedestrian competition until receiving a title shot at LFC. In that fight he fought a much older opponent with a solid record in Pojev. The first fight was a blowout, Pinto had little trouble stopping Ponjev, as he stuffed the TD's and KO'ed him. The rematch is a little more interesting as Pojev got an early TD and controlled the first round. Pinto survived and got a ref standup and the escaped the second TD. At the end of the round, he rocked Pojev and proceeded to smash him in the second round leading to a finish. Pinto defended the belt a total of 4 times before moving up to MW to fight a solid, but chinless Gennaro. Gennaro was doing well, but his chin let him down later in the fight. Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars. Pinto has the chin and power to be a top fighter. His defense looks solid both standing and on the ground. He has a track record of finishing opponents quickly after rocking them which is an often overlooked ability. The only thing keeping me from giving him 5 stars is the punch only offense (build issues are fixable). That will get him beat as he steps up in competition. His next fight is in scamma against St. Juste, who is one of scammas better fighters(even though that is far from top level competition). I expect St. Juste to win this fight, but it will tell us a lot about Pinto. If he goes the distance and is somewhat competitive its a great sign.

No thanks, I'll take a permanent VIP status in MMA Tycoon Let's be honest: Mike did an incredible job with the game and he keeps fixing and improving it nonetheless to please us, the players. Not only that, every time I've PM him about something, he was always ready to help. Keep up the good work Mike!

  11. Great thread! I nominate Rollo Gracie: he took the featherweight gold in the Division 3 of the last TWGC by submitting 4 of his 5 opponents, including the Division 4 champion. Undefeated in grappling competition, he's only 1-0 in MMA (he submitted a 5-1 brown belt though) but he's moving base to London to compete full time in Rehab Fighting Championship. http://www.mmatycoon.com/fighterprofilemanager.php?FID=279693

  16. Short post because I haven't though about this in great depth. Right now the most effective way to train up a young fighter is to stick him in the gym for several in game years with a couple of hidden testing fights, in reality this is extremely unusual -- the act of competition helps a fighter gauge their skills and improve, but in MMA tycoon it's rare to see any significant number of fights on young fighters because it's also their prime learning time. Perhaps grant some kind of learning bonus to fighters who have fought more recently, and perhaps some kind of negative to slow down those who haven't -- maybe making it harder to reach certain skill levels without fights, or just slowing learning down a bit entirely. It would help the game on a few levels -- for one it would let new players have some kind of chance at lower hype levels instead of constantly running into project beasts, and for another it would get rid of the ridiculous sitting around until the fighter is quad sensational before having him fight.

  17. http://i58.tinypic.com/rwtqj5.jpg Every week , from next week on, I'm going to write a profile about a fighter who did something special that last week. If you want your fighter to be the one written about, send me a PM. The subject of the message must be ' FOTWP' and in the message you past the link to his profile and you can also add why you think he should be the fighter of the week. It will not always be top fighters, as the content will be decided by who messages me that week. I will pick the most interesting one. So if your fighter did/does something spectacular/amazing this week, send me a message as explained earlier in my post. This thread is supposed to become a fun thread where your fighter can get some free advertising if he has done something special and thereby also is sort of a little bit of news from the past week. Send me your message the latest on wednesday morning about something special of the past week. Hopefully you guys like the idea and will be interested to send me messages to nominate your fighter or the fighter of someone else. Bjorn

  35. I'm not sure it has to be as complex as what shockg suggested? When I first read Erik's post I thought of it more like a boost to learning which happens for a period after the fight has taken place. The fight itself would just act as a switch to activate the boost. This way the training in the gym still does the learning that everyone know's and understands but hopefully with the lure of a small boost to learning speed by regular fights it should get more fighters in the cage with no need for in depth programming to change the way fighters learn. As to whether he fights cans or not I'm not so sure this would really be an issue. I'm not sure the top managers who are hoping they have a #1 p4p fighter on their hands would risk their fighters credibility by fighting 10 cans before turning up at one of the top orgs. As for the rest, or the mediocre and below - well some still fight cans now, I'm not sure it would really change by a huge amount. I also think it should be enough of a gain to tempt people to fight with their projects but not so large to penalise the very casual manager or the small percentage who would prefer to spend an extra amount of months training. I think the OP's suggestion is an excellent idea, hopefully it would lead fighters to be much more active and could help help keep the interest of new players more if there are more fighters stepping in the cage and be better for the game in the long run.

He always wears sunglasses, looks wired when doesn't, always sounds like his nose is stuffed and he's trying not to breathe through it, always sweating, Trumplike ego, excessive spending, Vegas. 40. Being good at something shouldn't give you a pass for committing a felony. At least they should have kept him sitting for a while. He left the scene of an accident where someone was injured by his actions. I will root against him for the rest of his career. (though he will probably win because he is that good) Ridiculous.

  45. Well he's the most talented fighter in MMA history so it's great to have him back but he's still a piece of shit who has gotten away with too much. He should be suspended but I'm guessing that won't happen either. I would be happy if they made him work his way up to a title shot instead of granting him one immediately. Let Bader and/or Glover have a crack at DC and Jon can fight Rumble in a title eliminator. Same if he goes to HW; give him JDS, Stipe, Cain, etc. before he gets Werdum.

  47. You seriously believe Obama is worse than 1. Richard Nixon, responsible for Watergate, the War on Drugs, and the Southern Strategy (which has done much to damage race relations in the US given virtually every Republican candidate for higher office since has used it). 2. Andrew Johnson, who opposed citizenship to freed slaves and generally made a mess of the reconstruction. 3. James Buchanan, who through complete failure to act basically let the civil war happen. 4. George W Bush, who got the country into two wars and failed to curtail (and arguably, helped cause) an enormous housing bubble that led to the current economic state of affairs. Obama hasn't had the capacity to make that big of a mess, honestly, with the exception of Obamacare (which is relatively minor in the long run) he hasn't done anything notable or interesting.

  49. Well...a little update. First 4 fighters all won their first fights. One of them actually got a ref stoppage at only a minute and a half into the first round. Very excited. I'm sure it's a little dumb/beginners luck...but it was still encouraging. And they're all signed to contracts and have a basic nutrition sponsor...so that's cool. The gym system is also easy to pick up on...along with the training stuff. And I gave the VIP a small taste....bought three months to give me time to really try and learn and immerse myself. Cool game so far. Excellent job, the creators and contributors should be proud.

  50. Episode 2 - The spider... The doors at Unicorn Powered fighting open to a rather large spacious room with a rainbow coloured carpet and walls with pictures of fighters currently at the gym in action shots of their fights. There is a large reception desk with a small emo looking boy with a name badge that reads Joonas. Hey Joonas, the TV people we talked about are here. When you see Owen or his crew, let them straight in please. "sure Conor" says Joonas with a finnish accent. Conor leans over to whisper to Own and the cameras We like to help the community here in Finland so we recruit the local guys. We have Joonas here on reception. We have a couple cleaners called Marky, Dee and Ville too. They're good kids. The crew follow Conor through the room and stop at a pair of double doors Through this door, we go into a another hallway where you can find the changing room and showers and if you carry on going straight, you'll find the actual gym. If you want us to turn the music down just say alright? "Alright Conor, we're planning to section out a part of the changing room to conduct all the interviews" Absolutely fine Owen. Just to let you know, spirit in the camp is really good. Cruz just recently won a fight via brutal headkick, Albert Ricci picked up a win in his debut and looked really good, he's jetting off to Montreal to train with a friend of mine called Scooby. And finally Darryl Gibbons won in the first round of his tournament. The boys might be pretty excitable alright? "Best mood to be in to conduct interviews" Great answers Conor as he opens the doors and walks through into the changing rooms and out of sight. Suddenly crashing through the reception doors with a big gym bag comes Joels Wijnbergen. "Hey Joonas!" "You haven't paid your fees yet Joels" "Must be a mistake buddy, I pay them online!" "We take cash only, you know Conors rules" "look buddy, you're just a receptionist. Have some respect" Answers Joels in a cross Dutch voice Joonas flicks his pitch black emo hair and goes back to day dreaming about innebandy Joels approaches the crew and camera "Hey guys! You want to do an interview yet?" "No sorry we haven't set up the area yet" "oh right, funny story to why I was late!" pause.... "On the walk to work I met a girl I met a couple weeks ago in a shop" Joels smirks to the camera "she is a nutritionist and she offered to help me with my diet, but it turns out I helped her with a number of her clients and now she keeps asking for my advice!" "thats great Joels..." answers Bryant Joels looks to the floor and then looks up, crashes through the double doors and into the changing room. The crew follow him. As Joels holds open the changing room door for them to walk into, the camera sees every fighter on the exception of Albert Ricci who has flown to Montreal and won't be in the series any longer and Timothy McGee who is doing 1-1 training with a coach. The crew set up a little section with lights and cameras for conducting interviews. Alright guys, who wants to be interviewed first? Joels stands up I reckon Cruz or Darryl should since they fought last? You wanna do an interview Cruzey boy? Conor asks sarcastically to Cruz "Fuck it, I'll do it then" says Cruz with an attitude as he stands up and swaggers to the interview booth. So Cruz you won your last fight with a brutal headkick is that something you have been preparing at this gym? Yes mate, been practicing kicks for... fuck knows how long, been waiting to buss some skulls with a kick. Is there anything else you are adding to your game from the coaches at Unicorn Powered Fighting? Cruz is gone from the booth... The crew look puzzled. Cruz is panting by the changing room exit. Owen walked over to Cruz. "The interview isn't over yet?" "THE FUCKIN SPIDER BRUV ITS FUCKING HUGE" With that all the crew dash over to the other side of the changing room leaving the interview section isolated. The fighters are looking panicked. Especially Osvaldo Martinez who has no idea what is going on. "Que?" Shouts Martinez "How big was it?!" Says Hall to Cruz "Fucking massive bruv it's like the size of my hand" Cruz makes a fist of his hand and then opens his hands because that makes it bigger and he was aiming for emphasis. You're all fighters, go and kill it you big pussies "Shut up Conor" squeaks Darryl Gibbons "I didn't even think we got spiders in Finland!" Joels tip toes over to the interview section slowly "When I went to Africa to make an orphanage with my bare hands Everybody's eyes roll There was a giants spiders nest and I had to kill them all with just stomps" whispers Joels expertly as if he was narrating a survival show. "Joels Grylls" says Darryl Gibbons jokingly Wonder when he's gonna drink his own piss Conor adds Joels gets to the interview section, throws a cross and runs back "Did you get it?!" exclaims Scott Hall Joels shows his right fist without any sign of spider splattering "I must of hit it so hard, it exploded after I hit it" explains Joels "or you just didn't hit it" counters Darryl "I got an idea" Shouts Cruz, he grabs the poor confused Peacock and begins pushing him closer to the interview booth. He eventually pushes him in the booth and shuts him in. "Peacock?" Everybody is silent in anticipation of who will win in the battle of a great humanoid peacock or the giant spider "Peacock?...." "Peacock?" "PEACOCK?" "PEACOCKKKKKKKK!!!!!" Drew Peacock busts out the door charging Cruz down, the spider follows. No bigger than the average house spider. Osvaldo stomps on the spider. Tuts and walks out in disgust. Conor sighs. "Unbelievable"
