This Week in Heartless #2 Welcome to the newest installment of the weekly newsletter for Heartless Fighting Championship! For those who are unfamiliar, every week I’ll be writing something to keep the forum page active, keep everyone up to speed with roster and organizational changes, and still give all of your fighters the recognition they’ve earned. Last week’s issue received a lot of positive feedback and the hope is that it continues this week! Results: This past weekend featured HFC 41 which saw Kaimana Makani and Shahriyar Chai main event at 155 lbs. The main event featured two grappling specialists who both heavily feature a ground and pound style approach. On paper it seemed to simply be a matter of who could gain the advantage on the ground, but Chai had a different idea as he attempted to use his superior size to keep Makani’s takedowns at bay. While some good strikes found their mark, Makani was eventually successful at taking the fight to the mat where he relentlessly pounded away looking for the knockout. However, an extremely tough Chai not only didn’t succumb to the torrent of strikes, there were times where he found an opening and gained a favorable position over Makani. Unfortunately, the fight couldn’t go on forever, and the decision deservedly went to Makani. Both fighters put on top notch performances and were awarded FOTN honors because of that. Other notable results: Knockouts everywhere. You love to see it. No fewer than 6 out of 10 fights including a pair of devastating ones served up by Zeke Marley and Luca Meuneix that both honestly deserved KOTN. Unfortunately the game made me decide so I went with the one that happened slightly quicker as a sort of tiebreaker. Signings: A lot of contract extensions were signed this past week including offers to retain the services of Kobe Knight and Mertis Falandas. Heartless FC is shifting more towards streamlined 3 fight contracts with terms that are favorable to the managers. The idea is that shorter contracts means more flexibility, which is important at this stage when every fight affects your decision to keep investing in the fighter or to cut your losses. And nobody should ever feel like they are stuck here, which is why the inactivity is set as low as it is. Outside of extensions, Heartless FC welcomed back Aqua Best and secured the services of former BWMMA Light Heavyweight Champion, Brenin Arthur. Like the other former Big Wave champs, Arthur will be given the opportunity to unify his lineal championship with that of Heartless FC. Upcoming Events: This weekend plays host to HFC 42 and HFC 43. The first card features another high level Lightweight bout as Seth Smith takes on Diego Armando. Smith is fresh off of his trilogy fight with champion Carson Justice, and is looking to get back in the win column against a new wave of contenders at 155. UFC 43 features a Middleweight title bout between stalwart champion, Anton Ilmarinen, and the devastating contender, Gerwazy Babula. Both men are undefeated knockout artists and are sure to come with the heat and the leather come Sunday. It’s the type of fight where an unstoppable force meets an immovable object, and only they can decide who breaks first! Other notable fights this weekend include a feature prelim bout between Heavyweights Methodios McIntyre and Pehtori Pojankivi, the preview for their fight can be summed up like this:

This Week in Heartless #1 Welcome to the first installment of a new weekly newsletter for Heartless Fighting Championship! As someone who isn’t a fan of the traditional Preview/Review style of writing, I’ve opted instead to do something that would keep the forum page active, keep everyone up to speed with roster and organizational changes, and still give all of your fighters the recognition they’ve earned all while not creating a ton of work for myself on top of running the org in game. In this first issue I’m going to briefly outline segments that I think are important to touch on every week. Results: Here is where a brief review of the past weekend’s cards will be. This past weekend featured HFC 39 and HFC 40 which saw Ivor Ivanovic and William Jiminez defending the 145 and 135 division titles, respectively. Ivanovic continued his reign as the Deathmatch Iron Man, notching his second consecutive decision victory in the Canadian Deathmatch format. His formula for success has revolved around his insane cardio and sheer pace that he puts on his opponents, totaling 314 strike attempts on top of 32 takedown attempts. If I were to give him a nickname it would have to be along the lines of “The Flood” because of his ability to keep his opponents submerged from bell to bell. The Sunday show was a different story, however, as we saw the 135 lb title change hands for the second time. Amakusa Saneuji, who came to HFC from PROSPECT in August, made the most of his opportunity by weathering the storm of ground and pound from Jiminez and attempting a submission nearly every chance he got. Saneuji was hurt halfway through the round with a huge Jiminez elbow from on high, and things started to look exceptionally bleak for him as Jiminez kept landing, but he managed to throw up one more submission attempt and it struck true. Jiminez, no doubt extremely confident in his chances, didn’t see the triangle attempt as much of a threat until it was cinched in and there was nothing to do but tap. An extremely gutsy performance for the new champ at 135! Other notable results included John Smith defeating Logan Lambert by TKO early in Round 2. It was later reported that Smith was offered a shot at Saneuji’s 135 crown to cap an impressive 4 fight win streak after starting his career 0-3. Pelosi Davito returned under new management and scored a lightning-fast 1st round knockout over Arthur King. Soren Hansen seemingly became a bona fide contender at 155 after a 1st round submission over Kobe Knight. Signings: Here is where new additions to the roster will be announced. This past weekend was very notable in this regard as well. With Big Wave MMA announcing that Saturday would be their final show, Sunday and Monday became a whirlwind as contracts were offered to many of their former champions and contenders. Heartless FC made several new additions to bolster an already stoic roster: 265: Enrico Fermi, Henrique Falcono 185: Olly Holly, Lutalo Masamba, Talon Cannonier 170: Bastien Harris 155: Liber Lambart 145: Kakashi Hataki Out of respect to Big Wave and its owner; Fermi, Holly, and Lambart will be given immediate title shots to unify the BWMMA and HFC title belts and continue the lineage of those titles. Harris and Hataki have been granted title fights at 170 and 145 as both divisions were in dire need of contenders while younger prospects continued to gain experience before facing top end competition. Upcoming Events: Here would be a brief preview of the events of the coming weekend as well as poster reveals and announcements of future events. Currently only the poster for this weekend’s event is finished, but as I get caught up they will be posted in this section. This weekend only has one event, as every once in a while a day off is needed to avoid rebooking fighters too soon. This is still a young ID and training time is the top priority. HFC 41 features two standout GNP specialists in Kaimana Makani and Shahriyar Chai. It will be very interesting to see whether this fight instantly goes to the ground or if one of them decides to change it up with some newly developed standup. Also there’s no telling that when and if they do get to the ground that it will be a one man show either way. This could turn into an absolute bloodbath which is absolutely on brand here at Heartless. Also in action are Convicted Fight Team standouts Ezekiel Marley and Danny Cruz, and also featured are the highly anticipated HFC debuts of Michael Lewis and Bo Duran. If you like watching highly skilled prospects and the future of 385k, this is a card for you!

Slo Moegan: Ladies and gentlemen I give you the winner by unanimous decision Kaimana Makani!!! Kaimana Makani: Hey Slo. Slo Moegan: Tell us a little about the fight. Kaimana Makani: Yeah the fight kind of went the same way every round. I would get the takedown. Then miss and land some ground and pound. Try for a submission and advance position and for some reason the ref would still stand us back up and I would get the takedown and we would do the first part all over again. Then next round all the way through the 3 rounds. I thought for sure he would be easy on the ground but he had pretty good defense from ground and pound and submissions. Slo Moegan: So what is next for you? Kaimana Makani: Well like I said after my last fight I think I should be fighting for the belt. Slo Moegan: Well you have had 4 impressive straight victories in Heartless and would like to see it. Slo Moegan: Ladies and gentlemen I give you the winner in round 3 by TKO your new 135 pound champion William Jiminez!!! William Jiminez: Thanks Slo! Slo Moegan: How difficult was it to fight 10 minute rounds when you were use to 5 minute rounds? William Jiminez: Well I have really good cardio but 10 minute rounds are exhausting. I was even on top for most of those rounds and yet still by the end of each round I was exhausted and hoping it would be over soon. Slo Moegan: What do you think is next for you? William Jiminez: Well I just won the belt. My next fight will probably be against another grappling specialist. Just going to hope I can pull off the upset again. I myself felt like the underdog in this fight to be honest. I'm well rounded but when your best course of winning is where your opponent is strongest makes it a bit nerve racking but at the same makes you incredibly focused because you know a wrong move and the guy is tapping you out. Slo Moegan: Well you have definitely been flying through the ranks and calling your title fight and can't wait to see your next fight. You always bring the action.

Sanka Coffee: I have a special show for you all listening in today's I have two guests, Kaimana Makani and William Jiminez. So feel the rhythm, feel the rhyme, get on up it's MMA time!! Kaimana Makani: Hi Sanka. William Jiminez: Hi Sanka. Sanka Coffee: So you both have a fight coming up Makani your fight is against 26 year old Alexander Morrison and Jiminez you have a title fight coming up against 26 year old Jake Wood, what do you two think of your opponents? Kaimana Makani: Well as you know I'm only 19 so there is definitely an age gap between the two of us. My striking is coming along and you will start to see me standing up and showing my prowess there as well but Morrison is one of the best boxers in the entire division with really good takedown defense and will definitely be a tough match for me but don't go looking for me to be showcasing my striking I have been working on against one of the best boxers in the entire division. That would just be asking for me to get picked apart where I'm currently at. William Jiminez: Well I'm 17 and yet still not the first time I have headlined a card here at Heartless, it is my first title match though. There is a huge gap in age, experience and skill in where this fight will definitely end up going. Wood is a dangerous grappling specialist with putting his brown belt in BJJ to good use amassing 5 submission victories. He will no doubt be my toughest opponent to date. Sanka Coffee: How do both of you see the fights going and your best chance of victory? Kaimana Makani: Well I could see him getting a Knockout but I think I win this one. And while he has great takedown defense Morrison has shown he has a weakness on the ground. My best bet is to take the fight to the ground and more than likely will be my ground and pound that gets the job done but he has been submitted twice so who knows maybe I get my first submission victory. William Jiminez: Well not only is it my first 5 round fight but also the rounds are 10 minutes and I know I could knock him out if the fight could stay on the feet, but while any other opponent I think I would destroy in this division on the feet I don't have enough confidence in my power to believe I could do so before he would be able to take me down and submit me. I see the fight going with him submitting me in the first round. Given that I can't stop him from taking me down before I could beat him on the feet my best chance of victory is to get the takedown first to be on top and easier position to defend against his submissions. Sanka Coffee: What do you think is next for you after your fight? Kaimana Makani: Well if I win here they got to give me a title shot. No way should they deny me if I get a win here. If I lose then I guess my next opponent would be whoever they match me up with. William Jiminez: Well if I was to win which I think is unlikely then what would be next for me would be to defend the belt. If I lose then there are several possible opponents for me to be matched up with as this division is pretty deep. Sanka Coffee: Well I wish you both luck on your match and will be watching.

Slo Moegan: Ladies and gentlemen I give you the winner by TKO due to doctor stoppage from cuts in the VERY FIRST Round Kaimana Makani!!! Kaimana Makani: Hey Slo! Slo Moegan: Talk us through the fight. Kaimana Makani: Yeah we came in I got the immediate takedown. Beat him up in side control and cut him. He kept trying to get in a better a position and was succeeding in doing so but kept pelting him with ill will ground and pound. That cut just kept pouring and opening further and further. Finally 2 seconds left of the round ref saw enough that he felt the doctor needed to come in and I guess the doctor felt he should have been called to check it out sooner because I've never seen that quick of cut decision by a doctor. Slo Moegan: So what is next for you? Kaimana Makani: Not going to lie I want my shot at the belt. I know the current champion has a fight scheduled and I don't mind waiting for winners. But I'm undefeated in the division, every fight has been with this org, and among the top in the division. So give me a shot. Slo Moegan: Well good luck on that. Last guy from your camp over at Old School Training that thought he deserved a title shot who I thought made good points being undefeated and a guy he beat in like the first event got a shot first has just been sitting on the shelf among the top of the division without an offer at all. So good luck Kaimana Makani and as always a pleasure watching you work that ground and pound.

Slo Moegan: Ladies and gentlemen give it by your winner in the VERY FIRST Round by way of Knock Out William Jiminez!!! William Jiminez: Thanks Slo. Slo Moegan: Tell us a bit about the fight? William Jiminez: Well as you all know and see me do is I can stand and have been working on my wrestling and grappling as well while still sharpening my stand up. I took the advantage of everyone knowing like to stand to start the fight by feinting a strike and diving in for the takedown. After I got it I just kept unloading shit after shot eventually saw him looking sluggish and hurt and postured up and landed a left and right and his eyes rolled back and the ref came in with the save. Slo Moegan: What is next for Billy the Kid? William Jiminez: Well I am sitting at the top of the division and have no clue how Antarys gets a title shot before me when we had our debute fights against each other and I won and am undefeated, but what is next for me is I should be fighting for gold. Slo Moegan: Interesting points and no arguments here. Good luck on that and look forward to calling your next fight.

Slo Moegan: Walk us through a bit of this fight. Billy Graham: Sure thing. The Lord's will was done here tonight. It was his will that I get the victory which is why every takedown attempt by my opponent was denied and met with a fist. I have been working on my boxing a lot and already a really good wrestler. And it showed as I landed every single shot I threw. Eventually dropping him and then I dove on top of him and started to swing and was immediately dragged off. Slo Moegan: Do you have anything to say to your opponent tonight? Billy Graham: I sure do give it up for this man who stepped in here with me tonight. May he now find his way to the Lord through the hell fire I put him in tonight. Slo Moegan: So what is next for you? Billy Graham: That is rather tough to say everyone around me has a fight scheduled already. I guess if I had a choice I would fight the loser of the title fight. I know that fight isn't for a while off but that gives this 16 year old some time to train. Slo Moegan: So you want the loser of a fight? A bit untraditional but alright. I mean it is of a high ranked fight though. So not bad either. Well we look forward to your next endeavor and it was pleasure watching you tonight.

Sanka Coffee: Feel the rhythm, feel the rhyme, get on up it's MMA time!!! Welcome ladies and gentlemen to another exciting episode of The Sanka MMA show. I have a special for you guys as I have two guests with me this time Billy Graham and William Jiminez. William Jiminez: Hi. Billy Graham: Hi. Sanka Coffee: So Graham we have that you are facing a true grappler is that right? Billy Graham: That is correct. Sanka Coffee: Being a young wrestler what if any hurdles that challenge you with? Billy Graham: Well the Lord's will, will be done. Rather it's me winning or losing. But it poses a great deal of a challenge for me while I'm working on a few things I don't think I'm quite at a level yet to keep him from submitting me and I don't think I have the wrestling to keep it standing long enough to be able to knock him out. I do think I have the advantage on the feet. So it poses a pretty big hurdle. I guess I just have to cross my fingers and hope for the best and put him on his back and try and work him over. Sanka Coffee: So Jiminez you are becoming quite the all around fighter and are going to be facing a fellow all around fighter with better wrestling and a win by submission. What if any challenges do you face? William Jiminez: Yeah normally I try and take the fight where my opponent is weakest at and with him being well rounded as well it makes it a little more difficult to figure out exactly where my advantage is. I think on the feet I have the edge but with his better wrestling if he tries to take me down he probably can get it and I think he has the skills to stop me if he gets on top, but if I'm on top I think I have the skills to prevent his submission game. But can I take him down before he takes me.down I think is going to be the deciding factor in this one. Sanka Coffee: I have a question for both of you, what is next for you? William Jiminez: Look I already mentioned what made sense and what I wanted next for me but they didn't listen so no point in me worrying about it. I'll fight this fight, and whoever else they throw in front of me. Billy Graham: I guess if I lose it's anyone's guess, but if I win probably someone like Falandas. Sanka Coffee: Right on well that is all we have time for today.

DEATHMATCH! Today is the day. In a few short hours the 2 fighters shown here will meet in the ultimate contest of strength, endurance, willpower, and martial arts technique. The Canadian Deathmatch is not for the faint of heart, and the two men above will potentially be pushed to their absolute limit while making Heartless FC history. While the anticipation builds and boils over, we can use the opportunity to take a close look at the fighters (and their managers) Derrick Colson (Todd Westacott) Keeping within his manager’s specialty, Colson is a highly effective submission grappler. The BJJ brown belt is the highest discrepancy in the report above and will no doubt be his path to victory. Colson is also very physically strong and will look to use that strength to control the clinch while using his speed to shoot takedowns and keep his opponent on the back foot. Westacott (CelticStryder on the forums and Discord) has collected an impressive amount of submission victories since coming to the game 8 months ago and is surely confident that this fight will get to the ground at some point. Gordon Ramsay (Shae St-Marseille) While experience may not be on his side, Gordon Ramsay manager Shae St-Marseille’s Tycoon career thus far has been nothing short of impressive. With Ramsay in particular, Shae has shown an understanding of fighter builds and the fight engine itself leading to some rather impressive victories. Takedowns don’t seem to scare him too much and Ramsay has a clear advantage on the feet, coupled by his ability to dictate the pace and action. Look for Ramsay to make this extremely difficult for Colson and his ground heavy arsenal. A silent poll of other Heartless FC managers have 7 votes for Colson winning, mostly by submission. On the other hand Ramsay has 4 votes from managers who believe that the fight will stay on the feet and that he will be able to keep Colson at bay. No matter who wins, the fight itself and the rest of the event are going to be incredible. I’m extremely excited about crowning the first ever Heartless FC champion as I’m sure anyone reading this is also. Be sure to show your support for these two and for Heartless FC. Good luck!

Slo Moegan: Ladies and gentlemen I give you the winner by split decision William Jiminez! William Jiminez: Hey Slo. Slo Moegan: So first were you a bit surprised by the split decision? William Jiminez: I mean yeah I am a bit surprised. 2 of the judges scored it every round for me so for 1 judge to score it two rounds for Lee I was a bit surprised. But it is what it is. Got the win. Slo Moegan: Your first professional fight was when you were just 16 and was right here in the cages of Heartless and now you are 17. How do you think you are stacking up to the rest of the roster and any additional hurdles or pressures being one of the youngest fighters on the roster? William Jiminez: How I stack up I'm 2-0 and there is only 2 other guys in the division with that record so I say I stack up pretty well. Also I'm one of the most skilled guys in the division. Still a little behind these regularly old guys but that will probably be next fight. As far as extra pressure I'm not sure if there is extra pressure from my age or just being one of the top guys in the division. Hurdles is I came in behind the old guys in skills and physical development and been working hard to close the gap on both of those. Slo Moegan: So what do you think is next for you? William Jiminez: well one of the two old guys that is also 2-0 right Tim Ablitt doesn't have a fight coming up so that's probably what is next for me. Slo Moegan: Well I know one thing it's never boring watching your fights so I'll be happy calling it.
