Wanna walk us through the knockout? Corey Smith: Yeah, I'm feeling great alright. Yeah, Muang started to get a bit sloppy here. I don't know if the strikes I landed had hurt him or what, but for whatever reason he got careless and dropped his hands there. I saw the opening and took advantage of it. He kind of pulled back from the jab which left him open for a big right and I just really laid into it. Lights out. If I can land clean there are not a lot of lightweights that can stay standing after it. Muang was really lighting me up with some of those punches, but I think he was trying to put me away early and his usual accuracy just didn't seem to be there today. He will be back. I have no doubt that he will continue to threaten the lightweight division for a long time to come. The same probably cannot be said about me. Ring Announcer: What's that mean? Are you talking about retirement? Corey: No no. Nothing like that just yet. But Muang is only 22 years old. I'm closing in on 29 and I don't know how long I can keep doing this. For now I feel great and I am getting better all the time, but 30 - 35 is ancient in this sport. I still have a few things I want to get done before I hang it up. Not the least of which is avenging my losses. Winning a title is also on the agenda. Ring Announcer: So what's next in the short term? Corey: Well... rest. Recently, Peel Steel (owner of INY) and I were sitting in downtown NY, and talking about whats great within the INY, what could stand to be tweeked a bit, and what new directions we should look into. As we were talking, we kind of thought that maybe instead of go through an entire preview of INY Fight Night, we should just hit on those couple of things that really stood out and how it relates to future plans within the INY. I mean we enjoy ALL of the fights, but does anyone really take interest in 2 guys who are 0-0, or worse.. 2 guys who are 2-5? We thought, much like other orgs, and in the almighty UFC, when you start to make a name for yourself and give notice that your someone who will have to be reckoned with by wreaking havoc or totally wrecking someones bones....well, then youll KNOW youre getting noticed when you make The Week in INY! Fair enough? So ..here we go…!! Fight Night XX 145lbs Fluffy Kittens loses his first fight to of all people, Mookie Magaba! The patten kamura thats won 3 of Fluffy Kittens fight just wasnt there and Fluffy was submitted with a triangle in the 1st Round. With a win over Fluffy Kittens, Mugaba goes to 4-1, so we may see a rubber match between these two in the not-so-distant future to see whose ready to move up and vie for a top 5 spot in the INY 145 lbs division. 205lbs Paul Orndorf moved to 5-8. After weeks and weeks of manager Brunno Falcone hinting at his retirement, Orndorf has now won 2 fights in row? WTF? More surprisingly, Orndorf has won those 2 fights by TKO and KO due to punches and strikes!! I dunno. Is it a new-found love for fighting / training , did he take up Tebowing, or maybe his new best friend is Mr. Deca-Durabolin with his sidekick Senore Human Growth Hormone? 265lbs Nikita The Red Army Olavski moved to 5-2 with a KO over Andy Arnold. This is Olavskis 2nd fight, stopped due to those lunch box sized hands. He ended his fight with Ezio Noir by cut at Fight Night XV. Olavskis defense seems to have dramatically improved, which leaves us asking, Who can stand with Olavski and take his in order deliver theirs? Do I hear jeers to move up to 265 lbs PLUS and fight Zayeed Abdullah? 265lbs Shivakamini "Shiva" Somankandarkram went to 3-0 with a TKO over an o.k. Fedor Rodionov. This was Shivas 2nd KO in 3 fights! Were watching Shiva! The Main Event featured John The Howitzer Monroe, as he rolled to 7-1 with a KO over John Davies. Monroe has beaten names like Kirk Hall and Cung Lee with his only loss coming by unanimous decision to Taru Cuhna. INY 32 Meyers VS Melton 155lbs Samuel Washington earns a win and is tattooed with an improved 6-1 with a unanimous decision over Ray Cold (formerly of Bellum). Cold has suffered a very chilly reception here at INY dropping his last 2 of 2 here. Washingtons only loss was his first fight in a QFC match-up. (Cant warn fighters enough about the QFC match-ups…dont do it kids!!! ). Washington has beaten the likes of Gallegos, Tinsdell, Stone, and Montegue. All fairly descent fighters, but as of right now, not contenders or up and comers. Next up for Washington? Cant wait to see if he can handle a Tope 10 fighter!! 155lbs Corey Smith roared at INY 32 as he ordered up a new record of 7-3, with a side of Now What??? Smith evened the score with Kasem Muang as he delivered a KO in the 1st Round. Smith lost to Muang by decision at INY Fight Night V. INY 32 featured Michael Melton Sr VS Charlie Meyers for the 185 lbs title. This was Meltons 4th title fight at this weight-class. Ina hard fought match, Melton Sr beats Charlie Myers by 2nd Round KO and regains the INY 185lbs title. So whose next ?? Beretta, Whales, or Bernhard Taylor with a 6-0 record with all 6 by You got knocked the f(*k out..biatch@!!! Next? Fight Night XXII. Heres what Ill be watching .. 4-1 Bruse Hoo Le Sheet VS 5-1 Sudipta Kar 6-0 Nick Shields VS 4-2 Frank Gallagher… And Ill go over Deans Top 5 Contenders in each weight class and what fights WE wanna see!!!
