There has not been a single law proposed to remove guns from anyone's possession who currently owns one legally. The assault weapons proposal was against new sales of very specific weapons. Not all or even most guns. No one is coming to your home, and no one in congress or the white house or that thread ever suggested they should. The laws that are actually being argued are mostly background checks and registration. Clip size as well, but even that is on the sales end. No one has ever been planning to come to your house and steal your guns. Only a moron would fall for that crap. That thread lasted so long, because no one could get you to debate the same topic.
