REVO-4 PREVIEW by James Dean

REVO-4 is right around the corner, and we have our fourth full ten-fight card on the books. Here is a look at some of the match-ups from my camp in our last event before the first Camp Wars. While none of the fighters from REVO-4 will be in the first camp wars, they may fight their way to a spot in the next cross-camp event. Here is a rundown of my camp's match ups at REVO-4.

265 lb Division

FOSTER vs AKULOV

Musical-loving fighter Shey Foster broke out of a losing skid on the QFC circuit before joining REVO, and looks to extend into back-to-back win territory against fresh-faced newcomer Mikhail Akulov. Not the most confident fighter, Foster will nonetheless look to utilize superior Muay Thai standup to take home a victory. Akulov is rumored to be a top-control grappler, and will no doubt be looking to keep this fight on the mat, where he has a distinct advantage.

265 lb Division

ABC vs BOLEC

The oddly-named Project Abc and Zanek Bolec are evenly matched in opposing categories. Abc is rumored to have good hands and wrestling skills, while Bolec displayed great BJJ submission defense and some Muay Thai in his QFC debut. This is the first match at REVO for both men, where the winner will join the shark tank of the 265 division for a top ranking, while the loser will have a lot of ground to make up most likely. Look for a three-round war here.

155 lb Division

BRADDOCK vs MORGAN

Austin Braddock utilized short clinches and damaging combos to end his first fight in a KO. BJJ specialist Huey Morgan won his first fight via first round submission. Only one man will be able to enforce his strategy at REVO-4, but both of these guys are poised to make an impact in their division.

265 lb Division

MIRANOVIC vs WILLIAMSON

Boro Miranovic ended his first bout in a first-round KO. Grappler Williamson lost in his first outing, but if he can get the fight to the ground he could change his fortune here at REVO-4. Another classic grappler/striker matchup, and another fight between two young competitors that should be interesting. The 265 lb division will definately be a different proving ground after REVO-4, with three of five fights from my camp coming out of this division.

205 lb Division

BROWNE vs PETROSYAN

I had a hard time finding a fight for number two LHW Gevorg Petrosyan, but top-notch wrestler Simon Browne stepped up to the plate. If he can wear Petrosyan down, we may have a changing of the guard at REVO. If not, Petrosyan will be on the lookout for another challenger. He can't take the number one spot in my camp until Owen Glyde loses at one of the Camp Wars now, barring unforeseen catastrophes.

And that's a wrap! Tune in to REVO-4 for the results, and stay tuned to smack talk for updates on our upcoming Camp Wars, our first title event!

Interview with Huey Morgan for local radio -

Host - What are your thoughts on Austin Braddock and your upcoming fight?

Huey - This guy is in way over his head, he has power, but I will submit him fast.

Host - You seem very confident, what have you been working on to combat his striking?

Huey - I work on everything, everyday. I plan on taking him down and submitting him.

Host - Give us your prediction!

Huey - I am planning on being outta there before the 1st round is done! I'm here to show everyone what I can do

CAMP WARS BREAKDOWN ONE:

155 LB NON-TITLE FIGHT

GREER LEONARDSON

vs

SEANO MAC

Leonardson is a brawling blue belt with a propensity to stand up. He's no slouch on the ground, holding a submission victory, but he is capable of powerful knockouts. In this fight, he takes on submission specialist Seano Mac, who has the ability to cause Leonardson some trouble if the fights hit the ground. Greer Leonardson should carry the day for us with his ability to get back to his feet and turn the fight into a brawl. He has already proved himself in dominant fashion here at REVO.

CAMP WARS BREAKDOWN TWO:

170 LB NON-TITLE FIGHT

ALBERT DULIN

vs

WATURU YATSUBUTA

Albert Dulin is an up-and-coming grappler with four wins to his credit. At REVO-2, he earned his first win after being a finalist in the QuickFight Tournament, and earned the Submission of the Night honors. He is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu monster, one of the highest ranking BJJ players at REVO. At Camp Wars One he will compete against Waturu Yatsubuta, a Slovakian who picked up his first win at REVO-1, and earned a Sub of the Night award of his own in the process. However, he will probably want to keep this standing. While Dulin has no standup skills to speak of, he has shown a great propensity for getting the fight to the ground and finishing it. Yatsubuta is a more well-rounded fighter, and has standup skills that Dulin is lacking. However, Dulin is savvy and has dealt with more talented strikers than Yatsubuta in the past. I am predicting a first round Submission of the Night bonus for my boy Dulin at the first Camp Wars. Albert Dulin is becoming a beast, and REVO is the perfect place for him to grow. Expect big things from this kid at Camp Wars and in the future. I'm proud to have this kid in my camp.

REVO CAMP WARS - PRESS CONFERENCE : FIGHT ONE

Lights flicker from an array of cameras, blinding the Co-CEO of REVO Accounts and, in effect, the organisation of REVO itself. Instinctively, he raises a hand over his eyes, squinting into the crowd of reporters. It's been a while.

''Ladies and gentlemen. My name is Jolon Williams, one half owner of REVO. The reason you are all gathered here today, as you well know, is to take note, and see for your very own eyes, the specimens that myself and my business partner, Mr. James Dean will be offering up to you all for the monthly Camp Wars, the event of events, housing the fights of all fights, all to decide, the Williams' Camp, or the Dean Camp ... which reigns supreme?''

He pauses, taking a quick breath whilst allowing it all to sink in for the briefest of instants, before continuing.

''What makes this event even more special than any other, is because this is the first Camp Wars, the first of course, of many to come. And because it is the first, this also means one very crucial thing. We will be crowning our first ever, division champions for each weight class from lightweight, all the way to heavyweight. But of course, these are the higher tiered fights, and hardly befitting to open the night. Yet ... it seems wrong for us to open the Camp Wars with simply any other fight. There should be stakes, real stakes. The pride and honour of both owners truly being placed on the line. The fruit of their own stables. Yes, ladies and gentlemen. The first fight of the night will feature none other than ... Mr. James Dean's own, Fedor Belfort, and my own sixteen year old prodigy himself, Dion Devlin!

The flashing lights, which had subsided momentarily whilst he spoke, started up once more, causing Jolon to shield his eyes again. The clicking of shutters, however, were barely audible, as music hit within the open conference room, signifying the entry of both the afore-mentioned fighters. A bright picture then lit up on the wall behind him, courtesy of a projector placed across the room.

''These two will battle it out between each other for both the honour of their stable ... and their camps, with Devlin representing the Dean Camp, and Belfort representing mine, the Williams' camp.''

He paused once more, regarding the flood of eager journalists, itching with every desire to get this underway. Inwardly, he sighed. He really didn't enjoy dealing with people in general, never mind these journalist types. But what was necessary, was necessary ..

''We will take any questions ... now.''

''Not at all. When we signed our own stable's fighters to this organisation, we did so with the understanding that they be within the opposing camp, so as to negate any biased or favourable treatment that may be directed towards them, or any allegations of such thereof. Therefore, while Devlin will be representing my stable, within Camp Wars, he fights for the Dean camp, and Belfort, while representing Mr Dean's stable, fights for the Williams' camp.''

Jolon nods, before turning his gaze away, scanning the sea of lights.

''Any other questions, perhaps for one of our fighters here?''

Reporter: (covering up my mistake) Oh apologies I misunderstood the TOTT. I thought by fight camp you meant as in the Revo camp not the actual camp/manager they fight for. Nice idea though. Respect. I have no further questions. I drunk too much whiskey tonight to build up dutch courage to ask a question you see, now i am traumatized. I'm outta here. lol.

reporter: devlin, at just 16 years old, why fight?

http://mmatycoon.com/gallery/22/22w4.jpg

''Uh ... well, you see mosh, it's like this. Uh ... see, I lost my first fight, ya know? I ain't looking to have my record all ugly looking or no'n like that, ya know? It's like, Mr. Williams told me that was just a test fight mosh and not to worry, but it sticks with ya ... ya know? Uh ... so I'm sitting there and I'm like, mosh, I ain't looking to keep a losing record or no'n like that, I want to fight and get me a win, ya know? Mr. Williams weren't happy or no'n about it, but I'm like, mosh, end of day, it's my decision, ya know? So he signs me to REVO, guess where he can keep an eye on me, and tells me like, mosh, you'll get a fight, but only if ya train a li'l first and don't say no'n more 'bout it, ya know? So I'm thinking, yea, that's fair, and now that's what brings us here today mosh. Belfort is only 18 himself, so I ain't at too much of a disadvantage, ya know? I ain't losing again mosh, don't want two losses on my record. I ain't looking to have my record all ugly looking or no'n like that, ya know?'

(Bear with me, as obviously this is an previously unattempted thing to try and hold an interactive press conference. I'm realising that one day is not necessarily enough per fight, so rather than waiting a day at a time per fight, I will be posting each as I can, and anyone is free to ask a question directed towards any fighter pairing they desire. I think that would work easier for all in the long run. Again, if anybody has ideas to help make it all run smoother, message me and let me know. Anything that can help this make it a fun experience for all involved would be absolutely fantastic.)

REVO CAMP WARS - PRESS CONFERENCE : FIGHT TWO

Jolon holds his hands up to grab the attention of the reporters before him as he takes the podium again, catching a couple of reporters with mouths agape as they are halted in their line of questioning.

''Ladies and gentlemen. Jolon Williams again here. Before we resume this line of questioning, I would like to introduce our next pairing. The second fight for Camp Wars features two extremely talented competitors, both whom scored victories in their REVO debuts. Please welcome ... Mr. Wataru Yatsubuta, representing the Williams' camp, and Mr. Albert Dulin, representing the James Dean camp!''

Once again from across the room, a projector lights up the wall behind the Co-CEO of REVO Accounts, lining up the next Tale of the Tape alongside the previous one.

Nodding, he backs away from the podium, offering a wave of his hand to the media, a gesture of consent.

Long Wang: "If I may interrupt here.....sorry. 'Pig' Dulin is my fighter, and even though he's biologically mute and cannot speak himself, he's prepared a short statement for me to read at the conference this evening." ('Pig' hands Wang a piece of paper and smiles. Wang breaks out his glasses and begins reading from the paper.) "Wataru, I don't know you that well, but you seem like a really decent person so it will be a pleasure to rumble with you at our fight, regardless of the outcome. Afterwards, I want to ask the promoters for a rematch against the one man I dropped a decision to -- Dartsomething Oystenteller, who's a really disrespectful weirdo. Thank you, everyone, and please try not to test positive for steroids after the fights."

Music hits once more within the confines of the conference room, indicating the new arrival of two more competitors on the prestigious Camp Wars card. As though on cue, Jolon Williams steps forward once more to introduce them.

REVO-4 REVIEW by James Dean

REVO-4 was overall an interesting event. Four out of the five fights from my camp ended on the ground in the first round. The one that didn't end on the ground was a total mismatch, but kudos to Browne for stepping up to the plate against a veteran competitor when other people declined the fight. Here are some of my thoughts about the fights and fighters from REVO-4.

265 lb Division Akulov vs Foster

The first fight of the evening was the longest fight from my camp. Akulov came with relentless ground and pound, and Foster couldn't handle it. Akulov dominated the fight from start to finish, and overall had a very impressive showing.

AKULOV- A Good job enforcing your game plan.

FOSTER- F Aside from two takedown attempts, which he's lucky he didn't get, Foster did nothing but attempt in vain to control. Time to revise the ol' game plan.

265 lb Division Abc vs Bolec

Well, when Abc clinched up and pulled guard I thought he was on to something. Then he tried to stand, from bottom, and tapped out. Bad idea.

ABC- D He gets some points for effort here, just needs to work on his grappling if he's going to, um, grapple.

BOLEC- B+ He waited for his moment and didn't let it pass him up. A decent showing.

155 lb Division Morgan vs Braddock

Austin Braddock and Huey Morgan won Fight of the Night honors, but I honestly don't know how. I almost understand Morgan being awarded Sub of the Night, but this wasn't much of a fight. Braddock missed, Morgan capitalized and dominated on the ground. Game over.

MORGAN- A He got the fight where he wanted it, gained position and nailed the submission.

BRADDOCK- F After he missed an uppercut he didnt seem to have much else to offer.

265 lb Division Williamson vs Miranovic

Boro Miranovic tried to set the place, securing the takedown and fishing relentlessly for submissions, but Carl Williamson weathered the storm and countered with a perfectly executed submission of his own.

WILLiAMSON- A A well thought out ground game earned him the victory.

MIRANOVIC- C- He got the takedown and was winning the round, but wasn't able to come out on top this time.

205 lb Division Petrosyan vs Browne

Youngster Simon Browne stepped in to fight veteran Grevorg Petrsyan on short notice, and got some valuable in-cage experience. Ten seconds of it.

PETROSYAN- A What else needs said? KO of the Night

BROWNE- F We didn't get to see much from him. Still, He gets an "A" for effort.

And that's a wrap for REVO-4! See you at Camp Wars!

" Today we caught up with Gevorg Petrosyan. It was quiet around Gevorg after his loss against Owen Glyde at REVO 1. This weekend at REVO 4 he came back in the cage against Simon Browne, who went down after just 10 seconds in to the fight. "

Reporter: Welcome Gevorg, how you doing?

Petrosyan: Thanks for having me. I'm doing great man.

Reporter: After your loss against Owen Glyde you haven't done any interviews until now. How tough was that loss?

Petrosyan: Well.. It was tough. I was really angry. Angry because I know I can beat him, but I just didn't execute my game plan. But I just went back to the gym. I learned a lot from that fight.

Reporter: Let talk about your last fight against Simon Browne. Everyone who saw it knows it was a mismatch. What are your thoughts about that fight?

Petrosyan: It was a mismatch, for sure. But I've got lots of respect for Simon. He stepped up when everyone backed out of a fight against me. Simon has heart and he's young. He just needs more training and fighting experience.

Reporter: He got 10 seconds of experience from you, haha.. You knocked him out and it looks like you're back on track. However, some people think that win wasn't a big win and they don't think you should be a challenger for the title.

Petrosyan: Every win is a win. But sure, I can understand why people think it wasn't a big one. But a knock out after 10 seconds in a fight is great.

Reporter: So do you see yourself as a challenger for the LHW title?

Petrosyan: I do! But it's up to the management of REVO to decide if I get a shot at the title. First I want to fight Owen and win. Owen and I are the top LHW's of our camp.

Reporter: Owen is going to fight for the title at Camp Wars 1 next Saturday. It could take a while till you two are face to face again. Who else do you want to fight?

Petrosyan: I saw an interview with Jeremy Stapleton. He told the reporter that he would like to fight me. I don't know that kid, but hey.. bring it on! haha, I don't really care who I'm up against until I'm in the cage with Owen.

Reporter: Sounds like you're on a mission. Great stuff man. Well.. that's it! Do you have anything else to say to your fans.. or haters?

Petrosyan: haha.. Do I have haters? haha okay, if you're one of "my haters", STOP BEING ONE! You're wasting your energy being a douchbag. That's all!
