Live from London this is Shuya Shimiz... I mean Shinohara, reporting! What turned out to be a one versus four fight, Yuya Shimizu was once again a target of foul play. In what appeared to be an even fight against the highly skilled warrior Mick Gerrard the underdog Shimizu performed valiantly. The majority of the packed Camden Conference Centre audience came specifically to see this fight and the guys gave a show for the fans, resulting in fight of the night bonuses for both combatants. But the controversy was on the scoring of the 5th round. Audience was heavily favouring Shimizu but after the judges had a conversation together everyone decided to award both fighters 10 points which was a strange move and as a result the fight ended in a DRAW. Unconfirmed rumors say money could have been involved as some links have surfaced about certain gambling factions investing heavily in the fight. Here's a quick comment from my bro... Richard Exlax (8-9) has proven himself to be a worthy opponent and I know he'll be a tough test for me. His ground game is very solid, 6 of his wins coming by submission tells me everything I need to know about him, he's dangerous on the ground and so I have no plans on going to the ground at any stage during our fight. I have no submission losses to my name and I want to keep it that way. I know a lot of people say I struggle against grapplers and I guess you could say that's true, my two losses have came against fighters who were better than me on the ground, so if this fight goes to the ground I want to put on a much better performance than I did in my two losses. I intend on showcasing my striking skills once more in this fight, frustrating Exlax by keeping it standing while tagging him with my strikes before finally putting him away. He's got one advantage, the ground. I'm better than him standing and in the clinch. If he wants to try and prove me wrong, he can but it's just going to end up with him getting KO'd. I would like to add to his statement by telling you all that you should be ashamed of yourselves. When war machine beats on a woman you call him an animal and beg for his public castration. However you see that Mr Exlax has been scheduled to fight a woman and you want public appearances and photo ops. It truly is disgusting and I back him 100% on his decision to avoid talk of the event. On that note I believe talk of opening a woman's division in umbrella needs to be started.
